A word from Sazerac
"Serious fun, damn good food." Named after the potent New Orleans cocktail, Sazerac is by far one of downtown Seattle's hippest spots. The food is fresh with deep resonant flavors, roasted and wood-fired, earthy and sensual.

"This southern-style spot is destined to be a Seattle classic." -Seattle TimesContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "I had a 6:15 pm reservation, prior to attending a concert @ Benaroya Hall. The service was fast & efficient with quick coctail service. The food was fresh, nicely prepared, & well presented! A delightful experience..."

  • "Sazerac provides a nice, comfortable atmosphere with enjoyable, if not particularly remarkable food. The truffle appetizer was quite good and the pizzas that my boyfriend and I ordered were both tasty as well. A reliable choice in a bright, cheery spot downtown."

  • "We reserved a table in the general area, and were told by our waiter we had to wait in the bar for a table to come open. Thirty wasted minutes later, one did but we weren't allowed to take it because there was a wait list. Had to wait another 60 minutes."

  • "It was all excellent, but the service is what really stands out. Our server was knowledgeable, relaxed, funny, professional, personable. He made the whole experience memorable."

  • "Have been here a number of times and the food/service is superb and prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food and service."

  • "We often come here for lunch. It's a great place for it. We love the pulled pork and fresh fish of the day sanchwiches here. They are extremely delicious. We would strongly recommend these to anyone. You could never go wrong with it. In addition, the service is excellent. We told our server that we were on a time constraint and he did his best to accommodate our request. We finished our lunch in 45 minutes from the time we were seated and out the door, which was too awesome."

  • "Sazerac, along with the Dahlia Lounge and Poppy, continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle. The flavors are rich, the food is creative, and the textures are rich and luxurious. I had a new dish this time, ricotta dumplings that were exquisite. Not diet food, for sure, but so wonderfully flavored and rich, with obvious amounts of butter, cream and cheese. A warm and wonderful comfort food. The salads were fresh and flavorful, and the cheese plate was up to its usual excellent standards. Service is very comfortable and friendly, and the atmosphere is quite active. They have a very popular Happy Hour which extends until 8:00 pm."

  • "It's a great spot for lunch or dinner. Rotissori chicken salad and gumbo are two of my "go-to" menu items. Great spot for Happy Hour as well."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant. Our waiter was superb. Because they did not have any Branzino that night, I had their special -- lamb. When I told the waier I could not eat the polenta and would like vegetable instead, he made sure the chef prepared the lamb an even more special way. It was superb. The Sicilian style mussel appetizer is AWESOME. Will definitely go back if I get to Seattle again soon"

  • "We dined at Sazerac on Friday evening. It usually is a busy time at restaurants, we know. The host greeted us nicely and we were seated. After about 20 mins ice water arrived. After another 15 mins the waiter quickly asked if we wanted any drinks and disappeared. Our drinks came in about 15 mins. We ordered quickly, since our waitress was apparently in the rush. In about another 20 mins someone else threw the plates on our table and ran away. And so on... I must admit they have pretty damn good food. We loved the scallops, beet salad and gumbo. Wine was way too warm. I want to go there another time, maybe during the week hoping for more quiet dinner and better service."

  • "Nice room, good server . The kitchen is not up to the mark, and the food therefore is no more than a shadow of the New Orleans cuisine it struggles to emulate."

  • "My friend and I ordered the tasting menu, and it was a big disappointment. The restaurant ran out of black cod and substituted with the catfish, which tasted like breaded fish at Ivar's fish & chips. What was disappointing was the server recommended the catfish and, when I said it wasn't very good, she did nothing to compensate. She only apologized and said that she loves it. The shrimp didn't taste very fresh and tasted like it had been sitting in the bowl of oil for a few hours. It was overcooked."

  • "Chose this restaurant because it was within walking distance of our hotel and had reasonable prices. We had a blast! My husband even tried oysters for the first time because they looked so delicious (and were)! The corn grits were to die for- I would come again just for a side of them. Great time - would definitely recommend"

  • "This place was very good. They did not open until 5:00pm so we hung out at the bar. We ordered a drink (hot apple pie) that was a little too strong and the server took the drink back and got us a new one at no cost. She was also our server at dinner and did a great job. She had long red hair and I can't remember her name, but if you get her as a server you're in luck! I ordered the Butternut squash grits, they were sooooo good. The price of that meal was 15 dollars."

  • "Have been to Sazerac 4 years in a row for Valentines day - we love the ambiance and the food, plus the easy valet parking which is a must for girls in fancy dresses in rainy Seattle! I personally love the catfish, but they have a very eclectic grouping of foods that always have something for everyone."

  • "With moderate prices, excellent food and wonderful service, how could you go wrong. The beet salad was refreshing and very tasty, the cheese plate was divine (as usual) and the roasted butternut squash grits were simply sinful-cheesy, buttery, a comfort food extravaganza. The service was friendly and extremely efficient. The room is a bit noisy for our taste, but all the above clearly compensates."

  • "Made this reservation after stopping in a few months ago to grab a quick breakfast while downtown with a friend. We were celebrating our daughter's 16h birthday and thought this would be something different and special. Well, it certainly lived up to that expectation. Although we arrived a bit early for our reservation we were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable and didn't 'hover'. The menu offerings were unique and everything we ordered, from the pizza to the cider glazed ribs, was prepared to our liking. The Sazerac cocktail was very refreshing after a long day out shopping with several teenage girls. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family."

  • "Great food - and you get more than you would expect at this price point in terms of quality. We were seated in a booth, which was nice, but the overall ambience of the place left a little to be desired - a bit too bright and not really intimate. That said, we both left happy - well worth a look."

  • "With reservations made the night before, this place was perfect -- great space, delicious food, excellent hostess and service. Prompt booth seating. Good balance of space so you're not spilling into each other's conversations but feels intimate. Tip: truffle potato balls, sweet potato fries, oysters, and chicken pate. Hard time deciding with so many tasty apps and entrees... Come for the people watching, stay for the food."

  • "Had a good experience. 4 adults, 3 kids. Waiter forgot the kid's drinks and finally served them in adult glasses. Apple slices in salad still had sticker on them. Nice room, good location. Easy walk down to waterfront tourist area."

  • "Our first time to Sazerac was a Saturday night 7 p.m. get together for some Cajun/Creole food. While it was was very loud, the service was very good throughout, including quickly accommodating a late addition to the number of guests. However, when looking at the menu, all of us had the same initial comment: "Wasn't this supposed to be a Cajun/Creole type place?" Yes, there are a small number of items on the menu that go towards that description (e.g. catfish, butternut squash grits, gumbo), but not nearly enough. We tried the gumbo (Great), the catfish (very good) and the burgers (just okay). Overall, we all had higher expectations of the place...mainly since we were all in the mood for Cajun/Creole which is severly lacking on the menu."

  • "My wife and I have become regulars at Sazerac and its New Orleans-inspired menu with a northwest slant. Their brick oven wood-fired pizzas are wonderful, and I had the Chaurice (spicy pork sausage, provolone, green olives, & marjoram) and my wife had one of her favorites: roasted butternut squash grits. If you think you don't like grits, you haven't tried them at Sazerac. The decor is elegant, the ambience is sophisticated, and the service is totally flawless. We have never had anything but terrific service."

  • "We happen to have very poor service - but I just think we got a server who was pre-occupied with something and was way off her game. So that was disappointing. But the food was very good and the ambience is excellent so we tried to let her poor service slide"

  • "I've had lunch at Sazerac several times, and the food is always tasty. Most recently I had the chicken salad with bleu cheese, apples and hazelnuts. It was beautifully presented with the apples cut matchstick style atop the rest of the salad. There were generous portions of cheese, chicken, fruit and nuts, and just the right amount of mixed greens to complement the other ingredients. My companion had the grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of tomato soup, which she said were excellent. We shared a side order of cornbread, which tasted very good but tended to crumble when sliced and removed from the small castiron skillet it was served in. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient."

  • "Hi, This was my first time in your restaurant. The place is lovely. I’m thinking about hosting future work events here. The only problem was the server. Not that she was rude, she was just insistent that we order more food. Which would have been fine in itself but when we didn’t things got weird. It ended up creating an unnatural feel. She kept on coming over and asking if we would like to order something else or get another round. One instance our drinks were still half full. After this, we got our check and went to another establishment to finish our nights activities."

  • "1/11 I & my friend attended the Seahawks game. Started at Sazerac which was wonderful! This weekend it was back to Sazerac & game. BIG MISTAKE. Taken to a table in no man's land where we sat for 20+ minutes before I caught the eye of the hostess. She took our drink order to give to our server. 5 minutes later he popped by to confirm 2 bloody marys (self serve after receiving glass & shot) & took meal order. He flew by to deliver drinks with nary a word about the bloody mary bar. Came back to tell my hubs & son that the hash had run out - no I'm so sorry. I changed my order & still no I'm sorry. Service was NON EXISTENT so although the food was delicious, we were much less than impressed. Tip reflected that."

  • "Fantastic food and service. Waiter suggested great wine matchings with the meal. Had a beer and cheese soup to start, followed up with pig cheeks on pureed parsnips, and ended with the cheese plate. Excellent!!"

  • "A stylish, relaxed, grown-up dining room/bar with a Southern bent. Live music - a chatty solo guitarist - was pleasant (Johnny Cash, Elton John.) I had the 4-course dinner-with-wine taster - raw oysters (tasted like the sea), beet salad (citrusy), black cod with vegetables (meaty, complex), and coconut flan (heavenly, creamy, caramely.) The wines were decent although the malbec was too big for the meal. Our waitress was new. She tried hard, got the orders right, but had to ask someone else for answers to many questions. My partner was disappointed in the short beer list, but his grits dish was rich and delicious."

  • "I can't review much of the food because I always order the delicious pizza. We went for lunch and were in and out in an hour. Perfect timing! The waiter was attentive and the price was right. All in all we really love Sazerac and eat here often."

  • "I dined here on a Saturday night with a few friends. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, looked trendy inside and was fairly busy. My friends and I shared a few plates/tapas for dinner. Everything we ate was so good! Very delicious flavors and good portions for the price. We were very impressed with the quality of the dishes. The ribs are to die for! The downside would be that we thought the waiter was a bit snooty, trying to lecture us on the types of wines, when we already knew wines. He was not overly friendly and he looked like he was tired or having a bad day, and it showed. It is too bad because the restaurant and the food was a great experience but it put a damper on the evening with a less than friendly waiter."

  • "Came here for a birthday dinner with my lady. We had oysters, beef tartare, catfish, a bunless burger, and coconut lime panna cotta. The verdict on the dishes was “OK” — well seasoned, but nothing to write home about. The beef tartare was slightly lacking in flavor, and the egg was a sunny-side up hen egg rather than the usual quail. The burger was similarly dull, and fries too salty. A wine flight was very enjoyable, but the cocktails disappointed — we fled and headed to Radiator Whiskey. The drink ingredients, imagination, and execution were all lacking at Sazerac. The ambience was a little bit Cheesecake Factory, but the servers were enthusiastic and they comped birthday dessert."

  • "The Sazerac is the restaurant at the Kimpton Monaco Hotel. The food is good, but unfortunately our wait staff was not up to standard. I ordered steak tartar arrived quickly, followed immediately by a hot black cod dish. Regrettably I am used to having a cold dish followed by a hot dish, before I have had a chance to eat my first dish. So back to the kitchen goes the cod, and my mood is the pits. Everybody suffered. What a pity. The waiter could have asked if for some odd reason, of whether or not I wanted all of the food served at one time. He did apologize, but it was too late."

  • "This was our first time going to Sazerac. We decided to dinner instead of happy hour, the ambience was good but the booths were really cramped and seats were not really comfortable. Food was just OK, the burger was nice but fries were soaked in oil and not crispy at all so I didn't finish them. Charcuterie section of the menu was a bit better. One thing that stuck out though was the slow service, there were times when we sat at the table for 15 minutes without anyone passing by. So I wouldn't go there if you need to leave in an hour which is usually ample time for dinner."

  • "We decided on Sazerac's for New Years, based on the menu it seemed like an interesting mix of northwest ingredients applied to creole. food. Needless to say we had high hopes, and arrived at the restaurant to see, as expected, a robust and lively crowd surrounded by a trendy backdrop. This is where the expectations stopped being met and disappointment ensued. the wait staff and kitchen were overwhelmed. by a packed house, and the food seemed unimaginative and flavorless. I would not recommend celebrating anything at this restaurant, not if you want it to be special."

  • "It was our first time there and we had 7:30pm reservations for 4 on a Sunday. It did'nt take long to get seated and the restaurant has good apeal. First they got our drink order wrong, we all make mistakes, but it took way too long to correct. The service was slow throughout the night. I ordered the Ribs, sorry we're out of Ribs, Ok I'll have the Steak, sorry we're out of Steak, Ok I'll have the Chicken, sorry we're out of Chicken. It was 7:30pm not closing time. I settled on the Burger with bacon and cheese and fries and so did my wife, both medium rare. Both came well done and no bacon and the fries were limp and greasy not crispy at all. They made us new burgers but same bad fries. I gave them a try but will not be dining there again."
