"This place is absolutely gorgeous! The down side is the service is slow, slow slow. We went early, 7pm, on a Tuesday and the service was slow so I don't know how much worse (or better I guess if more staff) it could be on a busy night at a later time. The food was just ok so I basically have the been there done that feeling about this place right now. The shows are just ok, I wouldn't necessarily call them burlesque if you've ever seen burlesque and the glass in front of the performers kinda makes it feel like your watching someone in a snow globe. The drinks were really good but pretty pricey so I may go back when someone wants to buy some expensive tasty beverages in a nice place ;-)"

"We went to Sax for their burlesque Monday program, and it didn't disappoint. The ambiance is elegant/decadent, and quiet. The burlesque show was very tasteful and somewhat erotic, and occurred periodically (a 4 or 5 minute dance every 20 minutes or so). Our server was pleasant and very upbeat, and took great care of us. We chose the Monday menu, which the server told us featured somewhat smaller portions and fewer options, but we found the food to be delicious. While the meal was somewhat expensive, we found the value to be great (we didn't feel like we were overpaying). It was a great experience."

"As I've said in previous reviews, SAX is a restaurant that is not only beautifully packaged, but it is a restaurant with substance. The food is quite impressive and the surroundings are beyond compare. The waitstaff are courteous and efficient. Looking fwd. to my next visit."

"Having dined at Sax numerous times and having memorable meals,this experience left me wondering if there was a new chef and why when something works management makes a switch! The ambience was great and I noted the entertainment was very brief...maybe it was due to a Monday night. I was exposing my husband and brother to the European "dining fantasy" which they enjoyed, but having been there several times before I was left wanting and very disappointed in terms of dining. I was saddened to learn that the expertly prepared halibut was not on the menu. The Crab Gruyere appetizer that I had fallen in love with previously was soupy,the crab was miniscule and dry at best and there was no Old Bay. I don't mind spending$$, but I want it right!"

"Whatever your preconceived notions are of a burlesque restaurant and lounge, SAX will win you over instantly with their combination of excellent service, exceptional food and attention to detail. That many of those details are in gilt and red velvet just reminds you this is not a traditional night on the town. The infinity stage, elevated above the bar, offers a tableau of sensual, modern dance. It is tasteful and absolutely adds to the atmosphere. We came to celebrate our fourth anniversary: not only did the waitress greet us with a "Happy Anniversary" by name, she then choreographed a perfect dinner. I am already thinking of special occasions to allow me to introduce friends and visitors to this fantastical addition to the DC scene."

"Weird best describes it. Baroque decor. An air of arrogance. The dancers did nothing for us. Too expensive. If you like what others say in their reviews and think you would like to go to this restaurant, I would suggest you go soon. It was pretty empty on a Friday night so we doubt they will keep their doors open for long."
