  • "Great location for a fun evening. Wonderful food, service and ambiance. You need to go and enjoy this true Laguna Beach gem of a restaurant."

  • "Eclectic menu with a nice outdoor patio. Food is good and the service is attentive. Also very dog friendly."

  • "Had fantastic Egg's Benedict classic and not so classic combo. Bottle of Schramsberg Champagne and great service from our server Salvatore."

  • "This was our first time at Sapphire. When I made my reservation I put in a request for a patio table, but was told they cannot guarantee it. When we arrived for our reservation we were immediately seated at a beautiful patio table even though the restaurant was packed. We were greeted right away by our server who was knowledgeable and attentive though out the whole evening. Service was outstanding and the only reason I did not give the food 5 stars was because I ordered the wrong entrée for myself. I ordered the whole Branzino fish which was clearly noted on the menu, but I did not expect to find as many bones in this fish. It was very tasty, but very difficult to eat. My fault for ordering the fish served whole. I would come back again."

  • "Chef Azmin knows how to pair food! Every bite of my salad & entree was savory! Enjoyed a family dinner on the patio which was nice. Kids loved their meals served on fun kid-friendly plates... Loved that touch!!"

  • "I took my daughter there for her 20th birthday dinner. We and a delightful and relaxing dinner. The food was very good. The only critique I have is that the Hamachi Crudo was too spicy for my liking but I'm sure those who don't mind spice would love it. The ambience was lovely and the service was very good as well. We have dined there many times and will go back again."

  • "Very slow service for the amount of staff they had."

  • "Great spot to eat outside for lunch or dinner. Food and service were both really good!"

  • "Sapphire Laguna is a nice little restaurant for outdoor dining in the afternoon."

  • "We have enjoyed dinning at Tastes on the Chrystal Serenity cruise ship which is affiliated with Sapphire. We chose dining at Sapphire for this reason. The unique menu offerings are delightful and we were pleased to find our favorite dishes at Sapphire as well. We are fortunate to have Sapphire close to home and will certainly return."

  • "We hadn't visited Sapphire Laguna in several years, but fortunately, nothing has changed. It's still a reliable place for tasty, well-prepared, creatively presented food that crosses many international culinary borders. They tend to emphasize seafood (especially fish), which is a good thing, because they're experts at it. Portions tend to be large, so plan accordingly, especially with appetizers. There are several on the menu that are almost too much for one person and would be better shared (e.g., the corn soup). The octopus salad is excellent--some of the tenderest octopus I've ever had, because it's sliced so thin. Main dishes: they have a super paella, and their version of surf and turf is a great beef tenderloin with lobster ravioli."

  • "Everything here is great! Parking is difficult. Excellent vegetarian dish."

  • "My son and I decided to have an early dinner/late lunch (linner). We were sat beside the service station. When asked if we could sit elsewhere the hostess told us that she expected us earlier and the whole place was reserved for the night. We had a reservation. The food is worth a trip;BUT, we could not get a meal. We were there at 4:30 and after making our decision the waiter took the menu and said that we had to order from the small plate menu. So they could make sliders but not a full sized burger? Our waiter was very nice, very helpful. There was no one on the patio when we left, not packed like the hostess gave as the reason why we could not seat elsewhere. Hopefully they will up their service because the food deserves better."

  • "The lamb I ordered was good but the chick peas and kale that came with it were prepared strangely and just didn't taste very good. My husband didn't like the fish he ordered."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Our waiter raved about the amazing things the chef-owner was creating. We were not amazed at all. Sardine app was pure vinegar. Artichoke salad was mostly frisee. The paella was blah and flavorless, served in a cute copper pan. The only universally liked dish in our party was the fresh tasty corn crab chowder. Cocktails also missed the mark. They have an interesting wine list with fair markups. Seating outside is nice, but PCH traffic noise can be irritating."

  • "I am a total soup geek and I eagerly tried the corn chowder here and it was off the charts amazing! The corn puree was thick and tasty, had chunks of smoky, thick-cut bacon and Dungeness crab... amazing! Everything else we had was great (we ordered 6 apps for two of us for tasting), but the chowder was the standout. We would love to come back again..."

  • "A pre booked Birthday dinner at a favorite restaurant. Great! To be greeted by a host who gave us an afterthought table that everyone walked around in close proximity was disappointing. This was not the intimate setting previouly enjoyed. Service started good then tailed off. Noise from the bar some 5 feet away was loud. Food was very rich this time. We didn't take dessert. Plus points: the view. Negative points: the location of the table and service that tailed off. It will be a while before we come vack at this cost."

  • "I eat at Sapphire at least once a week. It's the best restaurant in Laguna hands down. Truly an innovative and delicious menus. HOWEVER, On my last visit as I arrived for my reservation I requested a patio seat. I looked out and there was only ONE table sitting outside. Yet both the manager and the hostess said "wait let's see if we can find you a table" to which I was blown away. They made wait a few minutes to see if they could find me a seat outside. Finally the hostess came back and said "the only seat we have for you is a communal seat" which I actually would have preferred in the first place IF they had taken the time to ask. Instead they recited some policy nonsense about I didn't put "patio" as a preference in my reservation. "

  • "Our Table server was attentive but not pushy. Bruce did an excellent job assisting us with any questions we had from the menu and made sure we were comfortable of our seating area and accommodated sitting me next to my husband so we actually hear ourselves, thumbs up to Bruce. "

  • "Went for an early dinner with a friend, and we ended up with all appetizers and dessert instead. Not a fan of the house Vodka-fruit Martini, but then again, I'm a Stoli girl! Lamb Dumplings were phenomenal! Herbed Potato Chips were amazing. And to top it off, we had the Chocolate Creme Brulee with Marshmallow Fluff for dessert with really good coffee. Service was friendly. Parking in the lot behind the restaurant was easy. Hostesses were helpful. Chef Azmin came around to tables and said hi. We had a great time!"

  • "The service and general friendliness was reall top shelf. The appetizers and salads were very good; however, the entrees (lamb and rib eye steak) were not very good. My rib eye steak was full of fat and grissle. With a check for $170 (including cocktails), I would expect better, especially after our waiter told us that everything on the menu was excellent!"

  • "As always, the food was delicious, service appropriate. But the noise level inside is very loud. Outside dining is great when the weather is appropriate. We had dinner AND Sunday Brunch there, and all meals were great."

  • "We dined for lunch on a quiet Thursday afternoon!! My best friend, her daughter and I all have multiple food restrictions and not only was a server respectful of these he was very helpful with suggestions. The Kobe burger is phenomenal and their temperatures are spot on!!"

  • "Beautiful day with great food and service. The menu has a wonderful selection of custom made variations on traditional foods, such as eggs benedict. Wish I had tried more of the fabulous looking cocktails, will do next time! Interesting gourmet store, they run next door. Parking was easy, that's huge considering the usual weekend traffic! A definite favorite place for us and our friends. "

  • "It seems that the quality of everything has gone down some from the last time we were in (8+ months ago). Chicken was fatty and chewy."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "Best part of experience was house-styled martini. Service was very good. But truly mediocre food in taste, quality, and plating. At a much lower price point; perhaps acceptable, but not at dollars Sapphire demands."

  • "Had dinner for two on a Thursday. The little place was packed so thank goodness for reservations. The Chardonnay was great with the barramundi. My server, however, forgot my appetizer and our drinks were not refilled timely. I love the place but it cost me $158 for the two of us with only one glass of wine each! I think the service should have been better."

  • "Venue is great for celebrations or just a nice evening out with friends/family. Food is delicious, service was better than average. I would recommend asking your server for opinions they seem to have a pretty good knowledge of what to consider and what to pass on. Ambiance is wonderful, inside or out. Sapphire is a good choice for dining out in Laguna. "

  • "My husband and I went here for a special occasion. After checking other reviews, we decided to give this a try. While the decor and ambience are great, we found the food to be below expectations for the price. While the server was prompt, by the end of the evening, we felt his attention bordered on the neurotic and uncomfortable by the end of our dinner. I had the monk fish hot pot. I was unable to finish it because it was too salty, which is odd since I like salty food. My husband had the Hawaiin fish wish was ok. Lychee mojito wasn't the best or worst we've tasted. Would recommend drinks on the patio with appetizers but save your money if you're looking for fine dining."

  • "Consistent good food, but somehow the service was off this time."

  • "Our first visit and we were very pleasantly surprised. Had appetizers only: asparagus, carpaccio, and lamb dumplings. I confess I forgot the fourth. But all were great. Chocolate creme brûlée was fabulous. Good beer and wine list. Service very friendly and knowledgable. Overall great."

  • "We were disappointed with the menu and food. Had to send back one entree."

  • "The meat eaters at the table raved about their meals. There was only one vegetarian option but it was good, although simple. Everyone remarked about how extensive and pricey drink and wine lists were. The service was great. I would dine here again, probably for a special occassion."

  • "we took visiting relatives from the East Coast to Sapphire for a Sunday brunch. It was the best meal of their vacation. Perfect setting, perfect day. They were very accommodating for our large group of 8 as well. This will always be on a highlights tour for any visitors now and we can't wait to return."

  • "I've met friends from LA several times at Sapphire as it's the mid-point from San Diego. Food is always quality, as well as service. This particular time, though, it was an extremely long wait for our food and the restaurant did not seem that full, so I don't know what the problem was. Fortunately, we were busy catching up and just as I was about to inquire about our meal's status, it arrived."

  • "On the inland side of PCH in Laguna Beach, the indoor/ outdoor restaurant sits high enough for an ocean view. The lunch menu is limited but varied enough to meet most tastes. There's a Persian theme in the appetizers; the clams are delicious, but skip the kale salad. I loved the spicy fish tacos. Since it was 1:30 on a cool Monday afternoon, there was seating inside and out, but come summer, you'll need a reservation."

  • "Been here a number of times previously and was always very good food and great service. Seemed a bit off this time. Service was intermittent - good at times, nonexistent at others. Food was average for this place, but still good."
