Diner Reviews
  • "We visited Santorini's after dropping off the girls for the One Direction concert on Sunday night. It appears the combination of pre-concert and post-game patrons must have worn out the staff as generally the service was not attentive or overly friendly. Not sure if this would be the case on a more normal evening. The ladies room was out of soap and not refilled even after we mentioned it to the hostess. With the large windows open to the street, the entire restaurant was blasted by many passing cars and their mega sub-woofers. This did not add to the ambiance!! On the positive side, the lamb chop was tasty."

  • "Great food and surprisingly good wine! We were there on a Saturday evening when there was a concert and a ball game nearby. It was extremely busy but they still did a fine job in providing good service and exceptional food. We felt they value their customers. If you are familiar with middle eastern and Greek food you should try it."

  • "Food was well priced, tasted great, and arrived quickly. Our glasses were never empty and we were checked on multiple times by our waiter and the manager. We'll definitely be going back."

  • "The place was not busy and it took us a long time to get a waiter for drinks, bread, etc...The manager was not willing to honor our Open Table points gift certificate for $20.00. We will not be back."

  • "Chose this place for a meeting with my boss, who was visiting Detroit, and it was a hit. Great food and service and we were able to get some business done. Try the Arnaki Kokkinisto (braised lamb). Outstanding and reasonably priced."

  • "We had a fabulous meal at Santorini. The selections of Greek dishes is amazing. We ordered on the recommendations of our server Chris and everything he suggested was fabulous. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner!!!!"

  • "The lamb chops were overcooked and smaller than usual. Everything else was very good including the service. I ordered the chops medium rare and they came well done. I didn't say anything until later because it was very busy and getting late. It has been fantastic food on the week days so draw your own conclusions as this was Friday night, and busy. We need consistency."

  • "The service was amazing. Our waiter (Amilios) was very friendly and helpful. As well the manager and everybody else! Great place! Great people!"

  • "There are plenty of places to eat in Greek town. Hella's was always our favorite. After it closed we tried several different places. All serve basically the same food. Santorini's is now our new favorite. This was our third visit. It is upscale, neat and clean. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Someone is always checking with you to see if you need anything. Service is at a more relaxed pace. Nice wine list. Excellent, very fresh salad. Food served hot. My stuffed grape leaves were tender and flavorful. May be the best baklava I have ever tasted."

  • "This our third time frequenting Santorini. We (my wife and I) became fans after our first visit during Detroit's Restaurant week a couple years ago, as we had an outstanding meal. Each time we visit, we are reminded of why we choose to come back. The décor is very charming and reminiscent of Greek style and culture. The service is always excellent as the staff are courteous and attentive. Each time we have visited Santorini we have had the manager stop at our table 1-2x to ensure that we were having an enjoyable experience. The cocktails are tasty (they have a full bar and a number of signature cocktails) and the wine list is comprehensive. The food is simply wonderful. This is my favorite restaurant in Greek Town."

  • "Owner came several times to check on things. The owner obviously cares about his food and service. it was all good. I had requested a quiet table for our group and it was honored by putting us in a private room. Great service and friendly people. When in Detroit , I will go back!"

  • "Was very disappointed they were out of the lamb shank. The waiter also left the wine bottle by on of the peoples elbow which could have been bad. Portion size was huge. The Greek individual said the flavored were very close to what his Mom makes "

  • "Very good Greek food, in an exceptional downtown environment. Definitely worth making a reservation and enjoying the ambiance of Greek town. Got great service, and the staff was well orchestrated to ensure the place was synchronized. Clearly under exceptional management."

  • "Went for brunch for Mother's Day and our waiter was fantastic. Food was descent, they didn't have the lamb on the carving station and a few other items were gone, but the things they did have was good!"

  • "My friends and I had a very nice time. The bar tender we met before dinner was very friendly and helpful with a wine chose. Our waiter was also very nice and efficient. We all enjoyed ours meals and didn't feel rushed when we were finished."

  • "We had a group of 10 from varying places outside of Detroit/Michigan. The service was great. The food was wonderful. Many of the diners were unfamiliar with Greek food, but the plates were "cleaned up." Yum!"

  • "The food was mediocre, the waiter was careless, food timing was the only thing that was not bad. I've been to this restaurant a year ago when prices were a little higher, there was other staff, the food was amazing and so was the service. Over the coarse of about a year the service has become terrible and the food mediocre. I expected more. Oh well at least we know not to go there again! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. "

  • "This is not the typical Greek restaurant in detroit. The style of the restaurant is fresh and modern. The food is a great mix of traditional Greek with contemporary dishes as well. The presentation is great. The best part is the service. It equals any fine dining restaurant anywhere. I love this restaurant !"

  • "The highlight for this restaurant is the food, which is really good for a Greek place in Detroit. Service is fair, depending on who you get, as with other restaurants. The bummer is the noise. It is beyond energetic. My friend and I were sitting next to each other and we had to speak so loudly (almost shouted) in order to communicate. If you are going for a date, this is probably not the ideal place due to the noise. But otherwise it is a great outing venue, possibly the best Greek food in town. "

  • "I come to pricey Greektown Restr on a special occasions like heading to a show at The Fox. But Saturday's Tiger game let out when our table arrived and the drinking crowds poured in. Like a noisy bar Service was bad; slow or we had to ask for things to be delivered. Not what you expect during DRW. The food looked good but lacked preparation. Saganaki should be thoroughly melted not a blob of cheese on a hot plate. My lamb was described well and it came on a bed of warm rice with a warm bachamel sauce. But the lamb shank was cold. Like it had just come out of the fridg. I can enjoy Greektown at another restr with well made lamb for less money at other places. "

  • "We had a group of 12 people and the service was outstanding!! Sometimes with larger groups you are rushed and treated like an assembly line for taking orders, etc. But not here! The food came out perfectly and the service was memorable!! Thanks for the excellent dining experience!"

  • "We came in the middle of Detroit restaurant week, so that could have been an issue... They sat us right away(even though they lost my reservation)... We arrived at 715 and didn't see dinner until after 845... The wait staff hardly came to check on us! They were nice enough to allow our group of 8 to sit together... The food was decent but the service hardly made the prices worth it!"

  • "Nothing that me our my date ordered was available. This was during the Detroit Restaurant Week & I would think the menu for that week would be readily available. I ordered 3 different things & my date 2 & nothing. We eventually left without dining & went to a different restaurant."

  • "I had the quail appetizer & the Lavraki. Amazing! Disappointed that Loukamades weren't on the menu but everybody runs out of stuff during Restaurant week so apparently those were really popular."
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "The food was pretty good here, not the best Greek food I've had, but tasty. The noise level was insane, however, and it was hard to hear people even two feet away. "

  • "We tried Santorini for the first time during spring restaurant week. The food was amazing and the drinks were great. Everyone in our group was really pleased with the restaurant."

  • "The set $30 dinner menu for Restaurant Week had a nice selection of apps, entree and dessert. Worth the visit! The ambiance wasn't particularly memorable, comfy booth seating, plenty of tables. Good for large groups. Location is in the prime area of Greektown. Perfect for going out for drinks afterwards at Level 2."

  • "Hadn't been here since it was Mosaic. Energetic vibe. There was a Red Wings game, so it may not have been a typical crowd. We had our kids with us & the staff was great with them. Very attentive service."

  • "My wife and I dined at Santorini last night. We ordered the Red Snapper and the Salmon. Both very good. The Saganaki Opa was runny - seems like they are not using aged Kaseri cheese. Overall the food was good. But the ambience is terrible. The noise level is very high… we were almost shouting to be heard. There are no sound baffles on the ceiling and the ceiling is not that high. That makes for a very noisy place. The place is very large and the tables are lined up like a cafeteria. This is not your romantic dining experience - if you wished for it based on the name Santorini. The bill was presented like it is in a diner… no sheath/folder. We could not wait to get out of there due to the environment…"

  • "Meals were priced very reasonably for the amount you get. Drinks were never empty, they were filled before I even knew it was low. Fantastic service, empty plates were never on the table for more than a minute. Very engaging waiter, food was delicious. Would definitely go back again."

  • "SANTORINI brings a renewed renaissance in fine dining to Detroit! The location in Greektown suggests typical fare as most restaurants on Monroe. The ambitious menu offers a host of creative, imaginative appetizers, salads and entrees of chicken, seafood and steaks to satisfy even discerning tastes. Place a reservation online, simple as a Tweet, E-mail confirms. Service is excellent and attentive. How did the server anticipate my thirst? Magically, he appears filling our water glasses and leaving the carafe on the table. Service is a priority only exceeded by the fare. They feature the best of Greek and Mediterranean courses. Santorini offers an ambitious list of both hot and cold appetizers, and an array of salads. But, steak and seafood"
