A word from Sant Ambroeus- Southampton
Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus's legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant's elegant dining room.
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

Diner Reviews
  • "We have been coming here for years and always have a fantastic time. Attentive service, a wonderful menu, and interesting specials are found every time."

  • "The hostess was charming, kind and professional, the service impeccable, the food delicious, some of the fellow diners need to be reminded how to behave in public"

  • "This restaurant is quintessential European food and flair right in The Hamptons. Nordria (hostess) and Bogdan (server) were lovely, and the whole dining experience was really perfect. Great spot to meet a friend or a significant other and have anything from salad, to seafood, to homemade pasta, to fish, to meat. Everything on the menu is delicious!!! Will always be one of my favorites in The Hamptons - for brunch, lunch or dinner. Grazie!!!"

  • "Cute restaurant, delicious food, somewhat pricey for apps though -$25 for an arugula salad? However, the food was fresh, bright, delicious, and memorable. Service was fine. Great pasta -clearly homemade, with a wonderful Bolognese sauce that was both light and rich at the same time -great mix of flavors and textures. I'm sure I'll be back."

  • "you won't find better food in Southampton than at Sant Amb. It's pricey but worth it. Best homemade pasta, fish and gelatos!!!!!"

  • "First of all, they had no record of our reservation. The service was very poor, they told us that the did not have enough help; for a high end restaurant, this is no excuse. The food, although tasty, was served in very small portions almost appetizer size in other restaurants. considering the prices this was embarrasing. We ordered glass of wine, that came 15-20 minuets later, and that was probably because I complained to the owever, Hans."

  • "The food was outstanding, but in ordinately expensive. $25 for a salad is difficult to understand or justify. Given the price, the service was inadequate. Water glasses were not refilled; we had to ask for bread, etc. While the food was exceptional, we found it a questionable option for fine dining. "

  • "I have dined here twice in the past month and both times were excellent. Pasta to die for and the chef cooking the fish is amazing. Great staff -friendly, kind and courteous. It is an expensive meal, but well worth the price. Sant Ambroeus is a well kept secret and I hope it stays that way, unfortunately, summer is coming and I am certain it will be tough to get a table. If you are a foodie, your going to love this place."

  • "We loved this Southampton spot for a special night!"

  • "This place promises elegance and a classy crowd, priced to match, and it delivers. The food is exquisite, the room has a chic feeling and the crowd, at least on a recent Saturday night, looked like a hip NYC gathering. Go during the week for the food and comfortable atmosphere, and on a weekend for the energy as well as an excellent meal."

  • "We took our 12 year old to dinner. As always the wait staff is so friendly, and food was great. Ran into a lot of other people we knew. Was fun!"

  • "sant ambreous is a wonderful place. The restaurant is in the back of a pastry gelato shop but don't be misled, the food .is delicious and the service is great. The pasta in cream sauce with smoked salmon was heavenly. The pastry desserts sublime. It is expensive but worth every penny."

  • "by a long shot! It is pricey but worth every penny! Everything is fresh and very special! The owners are a charming Italian couple who are always there checking that the cuisine is perfect...and it always is!"

  • "There is a sum of more than the parts that makes this restaurant special - yes the food is excellent, the service helpful and good. It is mot the most beautiful restaurant and the outdoor dining is wedged between two village buildings, but in addition, one is transported to Italy - probably Milan. Had the Ravioli special, prosecco, and the superb Branzino - so delicately fileted and grilled. The tiramisu and Gianduia desserts are great - the espresso may be the final bit that made me feel I was in Italy."

  • "We sat outside so I can't comment on the noise level. Everything was outstanding. I appreciated the normal sized portions - not too huge. Food was excellent. Only drawback is the price."

  • "I have always heard fantastic reviews regarding Sant Ambroeus but last night i was finally able to experience it myself. What a lovely atmosphere! The service is very professional and authentic, as the man who greeted us was Italian himself. The food was excellent, our pasta perfectly cooked al dente and the salmon dish is also phenomenal. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine that was recommended and overall had a perfect evening. We can't wait to return!"

  • "Too expensive even for us living expensively in Manhattan."

  • "Our meal was perfect on Sunday night. It completed our weekend getaway. Fantastic pastas and service staff made us feel like we were their guests at their homes. We walked out with gelato in our hands and will be back!"

  • "Lovely restaurant but for what it is.. ridiculously exspensive. I eat out a lot , live in New York , travel the world and I am not easily shocked but the prices are just silly they are so high.. I will not return as a protest."

  • "Everything about our dinner was terrific...service, food, atmosphere, wine, dessert..everything except the price. Quality of food was excellent though the portions of the main dishes were small. And the prices were very high even by Southampton standards. Probably too high to get us to return."

  • "This was our first time there. It will not be our last. My husband and I had the wild Alaskan salmon. It was by far the best salmon we ever had. Desert was great also."

  • "very good but was disappointed that didn't provide entree salad for lunch. The chef was very accommodating and added a very flavorful chicken to my salad which was delicious. Creative Italian menu."

  • "Overpriced, limited entree menu. Unprofessional service...confused servers. Crassy crowd, loaded with kids in shorts & tee shirts. Not a special place at all."

  • "Wonderful food! They also make the best coffee in the hamptons!!"

  • "I have eaten at your restaurant before and had great meals. This last dinner was quite disappointing, perhaps because it was opening day. The clams with pasta were oversalted, the garlic too raw, I was thirsty all night from the excess of salt. The octopus appetizer was good. The desert was very good. My friend's papardelle with ragout was mediocre and his tuna tartare appetizer was just OK. Will try again with the hope that the food will be as good as it used to be in the past. Sorry..."

  • "The restaurant ihas been a family favorite for over 20 years. We especially like the Southampton one. The experience is a tad quieter, and full of the sentiment of memories of our family as our son grew up. So much more than gelato and panini. We have our favorites, and tho the menu is slightly different from the city, they have been kind enough to continue making our favorites when we ask. It's a rare accommodation in the current Hamptons. The gracefulness of the attitude earned our loyalty long ago."

  • "Love the food. My only complaint if I have one........... The bus service was not on task. my water glass was always empty and we needed to ask for bread. Twice. but other wise the food is amazing and so was the waitress. thank you."

  • "My party was kept waiting for over an hour past our reservation time. Although the manager comped our meal by 50%, there is no excuse for his staff repeatedly leading us to believe that we would be seated within 5 minutes and then seating other guests who arrived much later than us. If this was Manhattan, I would never go back."

  • "One of the best in the "Hamptons" low key, quiet, excellent food - I could be in Milan. Love that Carciofi salad. Very professional as well. It is one of the very few fine dining spots on the East End."
    Dined on 8/15/2011
  • "terrible experience; server pushed dover special without first informing us that is was $60 and it was not even good; also pushed the most expensive glass of wine, again without mentioning price; not surprising that it was possible to get reservation at last minute since they are losing their customers; do not recommend this restaurant and we will never go there again."

  • "I have been eating here for years and having the same thing this summer - the smoked salmon when they have it as a starter, the carciofi salad, and paparadelli with mushrooms and beef ragu - exquisite."
