  • "I usually love Sanctuaria but I, and everybody I was with, was incredibly disappointed. All of the portions seemed significantly smaller than usual, and it was as if all of the food had been cooked only 3/4 of the way through. The empanadas in particular were really doughy on the outside. Desserts, which we've usually enjoyed, were a total bust. We had a pudding that was pretty much the consistency of egg yolk- people could hardly keep it on their spoon without it falling off. I don't know if it was because we went on a night that was busier than usual, but it was not a great experience"

  • "Great drinks--fun and exotic, totally unique and on-trend--my friend had cocktails and I had mocktails & both were fun and delicious. Our server was excited to tell us about the menu + drinks and plenty attentive (and cute). Food was fantastic! With an abundance of gluten-free options--we ordered at least 7 dishes and there were still several more gluten-free options to try. The decor is fun, definitely hipster/steampunk but still very friendly and unintimidating to people who are there for the food and not the scene."

  • "My best friend and I enjoyed dinner here for her birthday. We ordered 7 small plates, including two of the specials. My personal favorite was (and always is) the wicked good shrimp, but the mussels (a special) were a close second. Every dish was tasty, and they were served at a great pace- we always had something new to nibble. While I do not drink, my friend's cocktails looked great and smelled potent. I must admit...I adore Sanctuaria!"

  • "Just like the title states, everything was salty... for the most part. Camarones Espanoles was noticeably salty and I tend to like salt foods. The Grilled Yellowfina Tuna was bland and the Wicked Good Shrimp was so buttery, I could only eat two. Aside from those dishes the Bacon wrapped dates were great. I hope this was an isolated incident but the as far as this one particular experience, it was very disappointing."

Loved that my drink was served in an glass that I grew up--deja vu'. While it was good, can't say that I'd rush back because there are so many new restaurants in St. Louis to try."

  • "Liked Sancturia; fun, lively, most of the food yummy. Meatballs a little underwhelming and gotta say, don't wait too long between ordering small plates, cuz it could be awhile. Mixologist did a nice job with tasty drinks, but for 10, 11, & 12 bucks wish there was less ice and more drink. Nice overall experience."

  • "We go here everytime we go to St. Louis - enjoyed it everytime !!!! But this time, service was less that helpful and attentive. It wasn't even that busy. But, through out the experience, got no water refills, waiter forgot to order a dish and just portrayed a lack of interest in serving us. Even the manager passed through and filled the surrounding three table's water but did not even bother to ask us.....Totally out of character for the restaurant. For the amount of money we spent, I am not sure I would go back...."

  • "We have been to Sanctuaria several times and always enjoy it. It's usually very strong in every aspect--food, drinks and service--but Friday night the service was WAY off. Everything took a long time, the drinks didn't come out as they usually would...we waited a long time for one order of meatballs... Our server really didn't seem to be as familiar with their famous drink menu as the servers usually are. Maybe he was new? The food was good overall, but apart from the "surprise" filling in the special "Saints and Sinners" cake (pop rocks!) the cake was a disappointment. It was a spongy dry texture with very little flavor. We'll probably go back, since we've had other great meals there--but we'll hope for much better service."

I think most establishments should expect this to be a busy night, but the restaurant seemed to be short-staffed and the service was slow. Fortunately our food came out after a reasonable amount of time, but the first two dishes we ordered, black bean patties and the guava croquettes, were a disappointment. The black bean patties were WAY too salty and the croquettes lacked flavor. We decided to leave and save the rest of our appetite for another establishment. I doubt that I will go back."

  • "This is a very hip place with a great bar scene. The small plates menu, however, is heavily tilted toward less than healthy offerings. Much salt in everything. Many fried items. A cardiac surgeon's dream.The wine list has only two white, one red and one rose on it. It's definitely a cocktail place. Keep in mind this reviewer is no spring chicken, so the under 30 crowd will probably love the place."

  • "love the tapas. always good choices like the cigar and the beggars purse. however...the wine list is dismal. There is only 1 red, 1 white and they charge a $15 corkage fee. Don't charge corkage if you don't have a selection. And the wine glasses are more like shot glasses. Get some real wine glasses and a better selection and we'll be back."
