I went here on a date with my
boyfriend. We were able to enjoy the happy hour specials. The cocktails were delicious and, at happy hour, well priced. The mussels were good and largely portioned. We took forever to decide what we wanted (there were so many delicious sounding share plates) and our server was absolutely wonderful. Knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and he certainly added to our dining experience. We got the pumpkin risotto; you MUST get the pumpkin risotto. Probably the best food I've eaten in 6 months. The fig and prosciutto flatbread was VERY disappointing. Far too much brown sugar which overpowered all the other delicious ingredients. We would definitely return."

Tried this place on a
recommendation and we were glad we did. We got several of the small plates and enjoyed a variety of tasty dishes. Fun place for sharing."

We were in New Orleans for the
weekend, I booked this place for Valentine's Day. It is in the heart of a neighborhood with several bars and shops within walking distance - there is even a Walgreens and a grocery store across the street. The food was great, the fried Artichoke hearts were my favorite but my husband loved the wild mushroom Empanadas. We tried the skirt steak, Albondegas, and stuffed chicken too - Albondegas won out for us. They had a pre fixe menu for $50 but unfortunately my husband is allergic to seafood; the next time we are in town I may try the calamari. The service was outstanding, our waiter was very attentive, even with the place being packed. I was glad we had a reservation."

Salu has an amazing ambiance that
ignites one's senses and wets your pallet. The food is very delicious, and I would definitely visit again!"

Food was very good. Service good
until the check arrived. Splitting the bill proved to be too difficult for our server."
Dined on 2/8/2014
We were celebrating my son's 21st
birthday. Great food and service!"
Dined on 2/6/2014
We loved it but it was very loud
to the point that it was difficult to hold a conversation. It was Saturday night so it was packed. Maybe we should try it again on a week day."
Dined on 2/1/2014
Best experience yet after 4-5
visits. Food was sensational and service was the same. Will certainly be back."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Got the table by itself in the
front corner by the bar. Within 5 minutes an obnoxious group of females decided to bunch in by the bar right there. This had them pressing up against our table and bumping it as we were trying to eat. Asked the waiter and host to relocate them. After both agreeing none of them were forced to move and just stayed until their table opened up. Otherwise the food was great and would highly recommend."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Food was ok, but it hard to mess
up Bacon Wrapped Figs, charcuterie and the other common Tapas food. I wouldn't recommend Salu, there are lots of other places in Nola in this price range that have better food. Walls had TV's playing ESPN, so nothing romantic about Salu either."
Dined on 1/5/2014
This is a great restaurant. It's
very pretty inside. We ordered a couple of gourmet flatbreads. Delicious and interesting. The staff is very friendly. The service was attentive. I recommend going here."

We Always have a great time here!!"

Last night in New Orleans, and we
picked a winner in the Garden District. Small plates were so good, especially the lamb lollipops, the stuffed dates and the crab cakes. Fried spinach was a garnish, but we loved it so much, we asked for a plate of it. The flat bread was crispy and thin. Great flavor! We didn't order entrees because we were having so much fun with the small plates. Dessert was churros and flourless chocolate cake. Also delicious. Our server Westley made the meal. Attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly. Wish we had another night to go there again! Will go back!"

I keep coming back for the
delicious Salu cosmo and find new favorites each time I dine! Definitely try patatas bravas, lamb lollipops, skirt steak, and ceviche. Servers are nice and knowledgable!"

You want musels six ways? They got
dat! You want a flat bread seasoned 15 different ways? They got dat! You want split plates that give you a teasing taste, but cheap enough to get 5 different tastes? They got DAT. You want a pork shoulder you can cut by resting a fork on it? They got DAT! You want a fun lively atmosphere of foodies and a clean stylish place to eat? They got DAT!!! A sampler of 5 star tastes! They got DAT!!! Will visit many times again."

We had a nice meal here. The host
was great and checked on us a few times over the course of the night. The restaurant is a nice space, in a good location and there was a nice crowd on a Friday night around 9:00 p.m. Tapas is the focus, and we had the small plates of strip steak, grilled brie, bratwurst and wild mushroom empenadas. All were good, but the brie was the hit and the pretzel that came with the bratwurst reminded me of the pretzels from Germany. Bread pudding was a hit too, with crushed candied pecans on top. The only downside was the noise --- and it was quite loud because of the acoustics of the space. Not a deal killer though; we got used to it and had a good time."

Fourth time to dine and seldom
disappointed. Great small plates, attentive wait staff and nice ambiance. Brought friends and family from out of town, and everyone loved it. Will absolutely be back again soon."
Dined on 11/21/2013
very good kitchen paired with
tasty wines, and an excellent table service by alissa made this a memorable dining experience for our group of seven locals. no better way to guarantee a return visit."
Dined on 11/17/2013
Our waitress was outstanding. Knew
the menu items and made delicious recommendations. Enjoyed our evening."
Dined on 11/15/2013
We shared a dozen small dishes and
a flatbread. All were excellent, particularly the marjool dates, stuffed chicken, cheese plate."
Dined on 11/11/2013
My friends and I had a great time
at Salu! The wait satf was very friendly and attentive, the food was made quickly and it was delicious! There is a great special on Thursday nights: a huge dish of paella (that can easily feed 4-5 people) and complementary bottle of wine for $35! You can't beat that!"
Dined on 11/7/2013
I go back for the bacon-wrapped
dates every time. Unfortunately, they were out of dates :( Still had several great selections including mussels, ceviche and prosciutto flatbread! Our server recommended an excellent wine pairing and was fun, attentive and engaging without being a pest. Good experience despite lack of dates!"

We tried Salu because we wanted a
lighter meal. The fried crispy artichokes were a bit heavy, but the lamb chops were particularly well prepared, accompanied by an "interesting" accompanying lima bean ragout. Then things slowed to a crawl - while the first two plates arrived quickly, the second two took so long that Gregory (the owner?) came over to apologize. It was nice that he took note, and indeed, within five minutes, the second round arrived. The wild mushroom empanadas and the twin crab ccakes were both very good. Without the glitch in service it would have been a very good meal. But the noise level was another matter - it was simply too loud. Some may find "energetic" sppealing, but we don't like hvaing to shout just to be heard."

Had a dinner of small plates that
were excellent. Went back two days later for lunch and it was great."

There are so many restaurants
along Magazine near Salu that it's easy to miss one. But my girlfriend and I were looking for a casual Friday night option and Salu fit the bill. Service was prompt, polite, and professional. Food was very good to excellent. Charcuterie/cheese plate was a great appetizer, reasonably priced. The fig & proscuitto flatbread was delicious and a very generous portion - easily shared between two people. Crab cakes were okay, but wouldn't order them again. Drinks were good, house pisco sour was heavy on the pineapple juice but otherwise did the trick. Kudos to Salu for keeping most cocktails in the $7-8 dollar range, much more reasonable than many new cocktail programs."

The food was OK, nothing special.
We were a group of six and ordered two flatbreads and six small plates. Some of the small fed everyone, some not. The service was very sketchy. We waited about 15 minutes to be approached by any waiter. We all drank water for the meal, but the glasses were too small and had to be refilled constantly. Larger glasses would have eliminated that. After we initially got our water glasses, about 10 minutes later the waiter came by to put little paper napkins under them. At some point after we ordered, plates with olive oil and spices appeared. The bread came about 10 minutes later. When servers first brought food to our table it wasn't for our table."

We were looking for something
different while down in New Orleans on vacation. My husband hadn't been to a tapas place before, I had. The waiter explained everything and gave suggestions based on plate sizes and what he liked best. We had an order of mussels (bacon), flat bread (with fig jam, prosciutto, goat cheese and arugula), lamb lollipops and th stuffed dates. Sooo very good. We finished with a Nutella flatbread and the bread pudding. Everything was amazing. Next time we go to New Orleans we'll definitely be making a stop at Salu."

Salu always goes above and beyond
for me! The staff is friendly and personable and the manager Greg is the best in the city! Always a great time whether for happy hour or a nice dinner with the hubby. Food is excellent as allows variety with the small plates, drinks are great too."

Food was great, plentiful, and
very reasonable. Service was outstanding. Enjoyed visit, will come when in NOLA again."
Dined on 10/13/2013
Food was ok but the service was
lousy and the food took way too long"
Dined on 10/5/2013
Went on a week night. Although
there weren't many people there, the service was not very quick. That's not to say that the service wasn't good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and pleasant, but he wasn't around much. The food was pretty good as was the value."
Dined on 9/23/2013
Lots of great small plates and
flatbreads to choose from! The Fried artichokes and lamb lollipops were soooo good! Brandon, our waiter was terrific........nice personality and service! The kitchen manager was running the kitchen like a finely oiled machine! He was on top of things and I noticed it! Will definitely go back! Big screen tvs are nice to catch games too!"
Dined on 9/15/2013
Mussels were fantastic, sandwich
was tasty and the service was great! Will return."
Dined on 9/10/2013
This was our first time at salu.
Some of our food was great. Flatbread was delicious. The crab cakes were not. They also arrived about twenty minutes after the rest of our food and they were half of my husband's meal. They did bring us a complimentary shrimp dish. Husband is allergic to shrimp, tho, so I ate them! Lol. We will go back and try again with different ordering. Then people were all very nice."
Dined on 8/26/2013
Family of 4 including 2 teenaged
kids and e shared a bunch of "small plates." All were excellent. Flatbread pizzas were a big hit as was the risotto. Be sure to save room for desserts. The Maple Bread Pudding was outstanding."
Dined on 8/24/2013
Everything we ordered was
wonderful. My overall experience was great and I left full and pleased:) also there is free parking after 5 for Salu patrons in the Liberty Bank parking lot next door...SCORE!"
Dined on 8/16/2013
Had a good meal at Salu....crab &
crimini flatbread, mushroom empanadas, medjool dates, grilled brie between a few of us. It was all tasty! Friendly service & good location. A nice change from a lot of restaurants in New Orleans that leave you feeling stuffed with cream and butter sauces on everything!!!"
Dined on 8/15/2013
The restaurant is easily found on
vibrant Magazine Street. The crowd is hip and the food modern. Wine list is great, little known wineries, well researched by the owners and well known by the staff. The managers are quite knowledgeable of culinary culture and are very helpful, cheery and friendly. Must do on Magazine."
Dined on 7/30/2013
Julie was the waitrees and was
superb. We had the sea bass, hamburger and paella. All were great - my only comment was the paella was overstuffed with rice instead of few more pieces of some sort of seafood fish."
