Diner Reviews
  • "Great setting on the Columbia River. Service was excellent by Austin. Enjoyed salads, fish and chips, and burger."

  • "We sat upstairs on a busy summer midweek evening and had lovely views but it was hard to converse with our friends from out of town."
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "I love this place, always have. But, the lunch menu was limited and prices are very high. Four of us for lunch with 2 drinks was $195 including tip. I used to love to go to brunch here, but again, prices have gone thru the roof. Still for a special occasion you can't beat the views."

  • "It is hard to find fresh, well-prepared local seafood these days. Salty's does it right and has a lot of options for all tastes. True, it's not cheap, but you can choose a chain restaurant if you don't care about quality."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "We loved the view and the ambiance of the out doors, we had the perfect corner outside table. our waitress was over the top and patient with us as we kept visiting with our friend instead of ordering, she continued to keep checking with us to see if we were ready yet, she didn't make us feel like we had to be in a hurry and order, she aloud us to enjoy our visiting. The food was exceptional from the appetizers to the dessert. I have never had clams and they were wonderful as well as the calamari, will definitely order those again. The grilled seafood was very good, I would have liked some garlic butter with it, my fault for not asking for some. going for brunch Sunday."

  • "Great food all around. Chowder is excellent. I had the small steak and half lobster tail dinner. Both were great."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "It was my mom's 60th Birthday and we had never been to Salty's before. We even rented a car because Salty's is not on a bus line. No one made her day special...No drink, no balloons, no nothing...The food was so-so but I thought there was room from more offerings like mashed potatoes or hash browns and a waffle bar instead of the creep station...The layout is somewhat unorganized with Oster's and Clam Chowder being so far away from the seafood table...I don't think we will make the effort to come back."

  • "Salty's is a great place to eat. The food is impeccable and the place is beautiful. The scenic views outside the windows is very relaxing."

  • "I have been traveling to Portland for many years. Salty's has always been my favorite, because of the view, the sevice and the great food. Many restaurants are inconsistent from year to year. Salty's is always at the top of their game."

  • "Salty's staff is always great at making us feel special!"

  • "We go here every year for our anniversary and are never disappointed! The only negative was the noise level, we sat upstairs and when we first got there we could barely talk across the table, but once people around us started get their drinks and bread it quieted down a lot!"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Once again, we did an early dinner on Sunday evening with young children, and we were extremely pleased with the food (as always) and the great service. There were several other family groups with young children, and of course, the noise level was "energetic," including our 2-1/2-year-old guest who announced in a fairly loud voice "boat" every time she noticed a boat going past. Of course, my husband and I also enjoy outdoor Happy Hour or later-evening dining by ourselves...just for the food."

  • "It was very nice and our large party was taken care of nicely. I personally have been here many times and wanted friends who have never been to love it as much as I do, mission accomplished. The only criticism some of my guest had was for price portions almost seemed like large appetizers rather than full dinners. We did order several large appetizers and I'm sorry to agree that many of the 30 plus dollar entrées were no larger. I will always return and I hope my friends will too."

  • "we always look forward to dining at Salty's and will come back soon."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "On a warm evening we sat outside in a wind sheltered area that overlooked the Columbia River. Watching a barge honk his horn at a sailboat, the river seemed serene. Above a bald eagle swooped down over the water, then plucked a fish out for his dinner. The salmon and halibut were delicious and moist, though a little slight on the accompanying vegetables. Without blaring music, it was quiet outside. We would recommend this delightful spot."

  • "The brunch was very high end seafood that tasted fresh. Also was amazing that every egg on the eggs benedict tray was cooked to perfection. I was highly impressed and it's well worth the money."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Food and service very good. Nothing to complain about."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "Salty's is tired and losing its edge. Food is okay but nothing special. They are out of touch with tonight's diners. Service was terrible. I listened as our server repeatedly apologized for his mistakes and poor service to the people at the tables he was serving. Setting is beautiful but they must make major changes if they wish to be one of the best in Portland. They are way too expensive for such average food and poor service. We will not return."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "I have been to Salty's several times and have always found it to very enjoyable. Whenever someone is asking about a nice place to have a meal, I recommend Salty's. Their weekend brunch is to a taste bud treat to enjoy whenever possible."

  • "We had our 15th anniversary diner here and it was spectacular. The staff is very attentive and goes the extra mile. The food is second to none. The view is awesome looking out over the Columbia river."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Way way toooo expensive for what you get!!!!! We won't be dining again here. The service was ok, the food was good. I guess we expect too much for our money. Nice view of the river."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Have been here many times in the past for brunch and happy hour. First time for dinner and saltys continues to meet expectations. Will definitely return."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "The freshest Pacific NW Seafood I have ever had! Great service- from the valet, to the front desk and even the bus boys. Everyone was gracious and genuine. Great team!"
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "The setting is great, even on the cloudy evening we had. The staff are attentive, but not too attentive!!! Wait staff asked if we'd like to just enjoy the cocktails before ordering, rather than rush us. Heirloom tomato/avocado/prosciutto salad was very good. Disappointment was the entree ... halibut cheeks were chewy and a bit dry."

  • "Always one of my favorite spots! Great food, beautiful view, waitress was slow - I was entertaining clients for lunch and would've appreciated her getting us drinks and taking our order faster. But I'll always go back when I'm in Portland."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "Very noisy, could not talk across the table from each other. Would not come back for that reason."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "I have had better seafood in Georgia. Wont be going back to this place. Expensive for no reason."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "A pleasant dining room with a view over the Columbia River. Food all right--not great."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "I was very excited to go to saltys for dinner, but once I arrived with my wife - we immediately were thinking about leaving! The Resturant really lack upgrades. Very old menus, silverware, plates, drinking cups, etc.. My appetizer was okay, but very expensive. The prices are way too high - sure I understand the view which is amazing, but I am not going to pay $70 and $ 50 for stakes at saltys. You do not offer the ambiance nor the quality for this price. Please take the chicken marcille out of your menus. I had it for dinner and it is tasteless, very bad preparation and the chicken was horrible. Olive Garden chicken marcelie was 100 times better. I am sorry for being harsh, but it's my honest opinion. You need to improve to succesed."

  • "Saw this via Open Table. Great food, great scenery. Portions were just right. We both went with seafood and both selections were fresh and very tasty."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Great atmosphere, great service, small portions at high prices. Very nice for a rare special occasion, and only for that."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "WE had a fabulous time at brunch. The seafood was fresh; the crepes were just prefect; sausage gravy was to "die for" all made from scratch and rich in flavor; and the chowder was the same. I have only eaten two oysters on the half shell in my life, but I had four during brunch, because they were soooo fresh and delicious. The champagne never stopped. The service was friendly and you did not feel rushed. And of course, the view made it that much more special. Best Brunch in Portland."

  • "Where did my friends from Hawaii want to go for dinner? A great seafood restaurant, of course. I couldn't think of any place better than a place with great fresh seafood and incredible sunset views."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "You certainly can't argue with the view - it's amazing. Clean, good service. I thought the food was just okay, but for the price it was ridiculous. The bread was chewy, not crispy like I would have preferred. To be honest, I couldn't eat the bread. I had the salmon special of the day. It was fine, but I've had better in much less expensive restaurants. It was nice to have valet parking. Yet, $38 for a small piece of salmon, mashed potato, inedible bread and some asparagus is more than I want to pay, even with a great view."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "I've had the pleasure to dine at all three Salty's locations - several times at the Seattle area restaurants, and this was my first visit to the Portland spot. Food selections were first rate, the fresh halibut was very good and a very nice presentation. My only reservation is that entrees are very pricey, though fine dining, location, and view likely drive that. Service was first rate, including visits by managers to ensure everything was in order."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Everyone was gracious, the accommodations were excellent and we got seated almost immediately. But the kitchen was busy and so it was necessary for the wait staff to stop by on multiple occasions to assure that our food would be coming shortly. Food was good and as expected from this high caliber facility."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Salty's was great on all fronts - food, drinks, scenery and service were all outstanding!"
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Salty's has the best view on the Columbia River. Even if the food were not so good, I would go there for the view. But the food, too, is terrific, especially the seafood."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Food was delicious, you have an amazing chef! I have recommended Saltys to most of my friends."

  • "Our second visit to Salty's in about a month. The first occasion was for Sunday Brunch, the last was for their new Saturday Brunch. Some of the items we enjoyed at first visit were not available for Saturday, fish cakes being a favorite but not available. The service took away from the whole dining experience. First the server actually didn't look clean, hair was pulled back and looked greasy; just did not look well groomed at all. We had to ask for coffee refills and creamer refills, we had to ask for the wet towels, no lemon was served to remove the smell and cleaning after eating shrimp and crab. Shell container was maxed out other tables received fresh ones, ours was over flowing. Very disappointing for such an expensive meal."
