  • "Have been going to Sally's for fun, for lunch/dinner, special occasions, for late night drinks for several years and it never disappoints. Staff at door and at your table are friendly, knowledgable and dedicated to making your dining experience a pleasant one. "

  • "Great location, with a patio perfect for outside dining next to the harbor. Very good sushi and service"

  • "It looks like amateur sushi chef is making sushi. Fish is not fresh, it stinks. Rice is not tasty. Needs training in Tokyo."

  • "Sally's is our go to place when we visit San Diego and usually order the daily special as it has never missed. The view of the boats and harbor from the upper outside patio on a sunny afternoon with a glass of wine is to live for. The servers always make us feel special and are very attentive without being overly attentive. As I write this I'm wishing I was there."

  • "I don't go to San Diego often but when I do, I always try to lunch at Sally's at least once. I brought a friend there for lunch two days ago: she was reluctant because she had a dinner date there later that day. We shared the Seafood Cob Salad - beautiful salad with tender succulent shrimp and scallops (one of the four tests of a chef is his/her salad) and we shared two interesting sushi rolls. We paired this with an auxerrois and then a dry Vouvray from Oregon. After this was over, my friend said, "I know I"m having that salad tonight again!""

  • "We were looking for a place to get some fresh, quality seafood - Sally's was perfect! We tried a variety of sushi rolls, the lobster paella, and the fish and chips - everyone was beyond pleased! We also asked for a table with a view - sitting out on the patio was perfect!"

  • "We really enjoyed dining at Sally's Seafood on the Water I ordered the Surf and Turf the shrimp were succulent and the size of a lobster tail, the short ribs were seasoned to perfection and melted in my mouth. We were celebrating two birthdays and my parent’s 48th Wedding anniversary and our server Joseph recommended several dishes and provided exceptional customer service. We look forward to dining at Sally’s again soon."

  • "We had a delightful lunch at Sally's on a perfect spring day. The restaurant is right on the coast with a great water view. The food was outstanding. Three of us had the seafood cobb salad, which was perfect: grilled shrimp and scallops on butter lettuce with lots of avocado. The other member of our party had the mushroom risotto with salmon and thought it was wonderful. He had hesitated to order the salmon because so many restaurants overcook it, but this was just right. We all enjoyed the breads and butters and a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Truly a treat! We'll definitely return."

  • "We decided at the last minute to eat here and normally don't stay within the hotel for dinner. However our meal was excellent and the service was spot on and very friendly, not stuffy. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal."

  • "I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. It has a lovely setting, great menu (especially for gluten-free folks - all items identified) and is convenient for those staying at the Hyatt. Unfortunately - the service started at ok, and then quickly degraded to poor. Our server was just not at all what I would anticipate of a restaurant at this price point. I appreciated that the food was labeled GF. Unfortunately there was issues with the main courses and dessert. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are doing a quick stop. I found the waiter to be condescending and inattentive. Im used to fine dining all over the country and beyond. I found this experience to be quite disappointing."

  • "The hostess would not seat us outside even though there were plenty of empty tables that remained empty throughout our entire dining experience. We sat at our table for a solid 15 minutes and no waiter or waitress approached us. Finally I had to ask the hostess if we actually had a waiter. An inexperienced manager tended to us. He could not answer any questions about the menu. Finally a waitress addressed us and she was terse at best. The food was average and the service was terrible. There are lots of better options on the San Diego waterfront."

  • "Try the yummy Burrata appetizer! My husband had the oysters...point Reyes...said they were very good. My daughter, age 11, proclaimed the short rib on the surf and turf to be the best she's ever had. Super salads and a nice balanced menu that made bit hard to decide, but I went for the diver scallops on polenta cakes with romesco. Delicious! We sat on the waterfront and enjoyed the views of the sunset, the marina, the Coronado bridge and the people watching on the promenade. Downtown is beautiful...and this is a great spot to take it all in. Cheers!"

  • "I was staying at the Marriott Marquis next door; attending a conference for a few days. Wanted a nice dinner close by with my wife and adult daughter. We sat outside on a cool night - space heaters made it very comfortable. Nice place. I'd probably go back if I was back here again, but I would not order the sushi. The fish was very good to excellent. The sushi was mediocre. Good cocktails."

  • "We were in San Diego for a meeting and I had read some reviews about how great the sea food was here. Gave it a try on our last day and really glad we did. Food and service was excellent and for San Diego I though the prices were very fair. Had eaten at another close by free stranding seafood restaurant and it was not good at all. I had the price fixed menu with wine pairings. EXCELLENT. My wife had the lobster pot pie. With a puff pastry top it was fabulous."

  • "Every thing when great, with one exception. When I was reviewing the wine list I asked what he would recommend he suggested a wine not on the menu. So we ordered two bottles-I wish he would have told me the cost. $120.00 a bottle was pricey for the wine. I should have asked but I think he should have stated the prie"

  • "From the Hostess to the Busboy - everyone provided attentive service. It was a last moment reservation, my granddaughter and her Finance had only one hour before their flight - to eat and visit with me. The food was delicious with numerous choices from the menu, the service was very good. Thank you."

  • "the food was truly fantastic - I had soups and sushis which were simply to die for - fresh, chunky pieces of fish, very tasteful the service was good - although our mains were served while we were still finishing our starters and I felt rushed"

  • "I tried Sally's for lunch one day while visiting San Diego. I was astounded at the excellent food that came with the amazing view ... right on the water. The lunch was so amazing that I made dinner reservations for the following evening. Because the restaurant is affiliated with the Hyatt next door, organizations that hold conferences at the hotel often have evening receptions in the restaurant's too-small bar area. That was the case when we had dinner, and boy, was that noisy! The food is excellent. Not to be missed is the salmon with polenta and asparagus. But when making a reservation, I'd want to ask about conference receptions, and the noise level that results."

  • "My wife and I dined here for Valentine's Day. A nice convenient alternative to Top of the Market if you're staying at the Hyatt as we were, literally just walked out the back door of the hotel. Wonderful sushi, nice wine selection, great service."

  • "with so many waterfront restaurants in San Diego......this is a gem! Although part of a major hotel chain, it is set apart from the hotel and situated in a way that seems like a stand alone restaurant. We only ate on the patio, but the bar is a great spot to also view the water. The service was outstanding and appreciated the personal and caring touch. A must as a local or a visitor to enjoy lunch and/or dinner. In addition, a nice variety on the menu for all personal tastes."

  • "This was a last-minute reservation, overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! The service was pretty good, the waiter picked up quickly that I was looking at the wine list and gave me time to pick out a good bottle. Ended up picking out a Finca Decero Malbec which was fair. Went well with the salmon we had for dinner, actually. Much to my dismay, right after we ordered our wine, the waiters began to pull tables together for a large (loud) group that was sat right next to us. Might want to pick a table in the corner somewhere if you want a quiet dinner. For dinner we did the prix-fixe 3-course they had set up for the week. The salmon was awesome, and also had a salted caramel dessert I'd highly recommend."

  • "The food was pretty good, but somehow the restaurant just lacked atmosphere. My wife had fish and chips, the battered fish (sea bass) was very good, but the chips were almost cold, and a bit limp, although when we mentioned this to the waiter, another portion was brought to us, and these were perfectly hot and crispy, as they should be! We thought that the dessert menu was bland and uninspiring."

  • "We ate there Christmas Eve and while sitting outside under the heaters and viewing the bay was enlightening, the food ended up very poor. I had the half lobster Paella dish. The lobster was chewy, the rice was in a brown sauce and the seafood was tasteless. I’ve had some great Paella in various places of the world and never have I seen a brown sauce used for Paella. The scallops were the size of the peas “which were mushy” so I knew the scallops were previously frozen and in a bag form. Overall the dish was terrible without any taste. We also had the fried gator which was totally disappointing. Born and raised in southern Louisiana I know what alligator taste like and this was a chewy mess."

  • "Ambiance on Sally's heated patio overlooking the marina is very romantic. We especially enjoyed the tomato soup, dark sweet rolls, crab cake appetizer, lobster pot-pie, and risotto with grilled salmon. Wait staff was truly helpful and attentive."

  • "Half the menu is sushi...I had the Nigiri for an appetizer (Hamachi)...next time I will order sushi for my entree...super fresh, and generous portions! I had a grilled salmon for an entree with polenta and asparagus...also fantastic...but the sushi? best I've ever had..."

  • "Took our friend from Taiwan to Sally's for dinner recently. Enjoyed the outside patio and the beautiful view. The food was o.k. - nothing great, just o.k. I had the beet salad - was a bit overdressed with greens. Also had the crab pasta which too, was overdressed. My husband opted for the miso soup and a California roll, which he said was good, but not as good as our favorite Japanese restaurant downtown. Our guest ordered the Ahi tuna rare which came out overdone. He said it was good, but then he's so polite!!!! Our waiters were wonderful though - very attentive and patient, as we sat for several minutes sipping wine before ordering. The kicker was that they charge a $25 corkage fee for bringing our own wine. REALLY??? NUTS!"

  • "Off a cruise ship for the day, we found Sally's in Open Table as a good place to eat near Seaport Village. We ordered the Seafood Selection, small size along with an extra half dozen pacific oysters. What a great seafood treat. Crab legs and lobsters were perfectly prepared to be easy to take out of the shells. Oysters were juicy and plump. Shrimp firm. Loved the sauces. And if you like your seafood hot instead of cold just ask. Thank you for a memorable harborside lunch Sally."

  • "We went there for our 41st anniversary since we were spending the night at the adjoining Hyatt. The dinner was great. The tomato and ancho pepper soup was tasty-just a little spicy for my wife but it worked for me. We shared the chilled seafood appetizer, which we enjoyed. It was a spectacular presentation of delicious oysters, shrimp, lobster and crab legs. The main courses were crab pasta and the lobster tail paella. The pasta was very good, the asparagus served with it was just a little tough. The paella included a variety of items besides the lobster such as muscles, chorizo and calamari, all tasty. It perhaps wasn't the most "authentic" paella I've ever had, but tasted much better than most. We would definitely go back again."

  • "First time diner and it won't be the last! Ambiance is perfect, quiet and beautiful view at the ocean front. Food was excellent and was a good serving size. Oh, I recommend the tomato soup! Thanks also for the "in house carrot cake" for my wife's birthday, that was excellent. Our server by the name of Joseph, he was very polite and accommodating. Good job to all!"
