  • "The food was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive as well as the other staff"

  • "Had a wonderful time at this restaurant. Was here in early July and decided to try it again. Both times had great food."

  • "We had just checked in to the hotel, so this was great to grab something quick. Limited menu, but can find something for everyone. Good service."

  • "Who would think of going to a chain hotel for a lovely, quiet dining experience? Shhhh ... sharing this secret with you only ... Saffire has very good food, reasonably priced, excellent service, and ambience that permits adult conversation to be conducted at at "living-room" level ... Thank you, Marriott and Saffire!"

  • "I've been here a few times because the food and staff are excellent, with the exception of the host working Saturday, January 18. I made a reservation and showed up only to have him tell me they couldn't honor it. What?! He didn't even try to help. At all. He said he was waiting on a table of 20 to arrive, who were 30 minutes late mind you. No big deal for them, though, since a party of 6 would not pull in as much money as that of a party of 20. Either way, we had to be mean enough for him to finally give in."

  • "Food was Ok but nothing really memorable. Good selection of drinks and beer. Rest week menu was average; we also ordered a flatbread which was OK. Not sure we'd return as there are much better restaurants around. Bar was pretty noisy when we got there but as people left it got better."

  • "Stayed in the hotel for dinner. Compared to other Charleston opportunities I would not stay in again."

  • "The rooftop bar is very nice with friendly staff who are attentive. The restaurant was good and food is not expensive. The one aspect that put a negative tone on everything was the price of drinks. I had two Glenlivet on the rocks and was shocked when the bill came and the charge PER drink was $15.00. Living downtown we have dined in most of the restaurants there and this is the highest I have paid for this drink. They need to be more reasonable in their price points"

  • "Very typical hotel restaurant. I had a Southern Cobb salad which was dressed with oil, a few chunks of bacon, hard boiled egg and nuts. Two fried lumps of pimento cheese were added on the side and were so oily that I couldn't eat them. All together uninspired and bland. The service was fine but I was only one of two patrons in for lunch."

  • "This restaurant is attractively decorated and has the quiet atmosphere most of us want for an evening meal."

  • "The wife and I've been wanting to try Saffire as we've heard great things. The food was very good (I had the braised short ribs and they were magnificent). We especially enjoyed watching the "singles mixer" that was going on at the adjacent lounge; very entertaining. :-) The only thing we didn't care for was the coconut cake. We've seen other reviews where people say, "If you don't like coconut cake, you'll love it." Well, in our opinion, if you like coconut cake, you won't like it."

  • "Best for people who are staying at the Marriott and don't want to go out. The 3 for $30 was a good choice for us. Food was ok."

  • "Located in the Marriott Hotel. This would not be a person's number 1 choice if not staying at the hotel, but it was for us this particular night. We were staying in a nearby hotel that did not offer dining in, so this was a 2 minute drive away. The restaurant was tucked away in a romantic and quite part of the hotel. Way to go is the 3 for $30. Appetizer, entree and dessert for $30 is a GREAT deal. Wine by the glass is actually a half-carafe. Service was very attentive, Russell did a great job for us w/out being intrusive."

  • "The open table reservations did not indicate a special Easter Brunch at Saffire. We actually wanted to do an Easter Brunch, but by the time we looked for a reservation no tables at resturants indicating a special brunch were available at the times we could go. So we went to Saffire for the regular meal which was just breakfast buffet. However, when we arrived for our 11:15 seating, we were asked if we wanted to wait until 12 and have the special Easter Brunch. Had we known about the brunch, we would have scheduled a 12:00 seating. We did not care to wait 45 minutes with nothing to do so we ate the usual breakfast buffet (biscuits would be a nice addition to the breads). It would have been nice to know ahead of time about the brunch."

  • "Went for restaurant week. The sampler menu was creative but was not executed well. The salmon was dry, the risotto still a bit on the crunchy side and the dessert was bland."

  • "The restaurant was okay. Nothing to me was particularly remarkable or interesting. I was staying at the hotel so it was convenient. I am a woman and I was by myself and the wait staff seemed to think I wanted to be ignored. I doubt there would be reason for me to return"

  • "I originally chose this restaurant because it was a thousand pt bonus restaurant. I was utterly amazed at the ambiance that filled this bistro-like setting in the hotel. The food was flavorful and beyond compare. I travel frequently and always like to try different cuisine. Everything we ordered had a lovely spin on everyday meals, and then some! The "red flatbread" as an appetizer was so delightful. The Lobster Ravioli, out of this world. The gourmet cheeseburger, was a between 1/4 and 1/2 pound, juicy, fresh, not frozen, and the toasted bun, was toasted just right, a caramel brown if you will! I still inform any of my associated traveling to the Charleston area that Saffire is a "must go". I can't wait to return."

  • "We ate here as it was near the "Joe", the Charleston Riverdog's stadium (baseball A)It is in the Marriott. Food was very good, better than what you would expect from a chain hotel. I had the pork chop with collard greens which were very good. I don't usually like them, but like to see how they can be fixed to make them palatable. They passed with flying colors! Caesar salad was also good. Service was attentive, but we ate early so the place was not crowded. Decor was quite nice, again, not the usual for a hotel. we did have trouble getting our reservation credited, but once we called and sent an email they came through and corrected it."

  • "This restaurant is far better than the usual hotel restaurant. I've had lunch there several times and always enjoyed it. This was my first time to have dinner. There were five of us ranging in age from 13 to 68. We all enjoyed our meals and felt that the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. Two of us had the chicken, which was tender and moist. Two had steak, which was cooked to order, tender, and tasty. One (guess which one) had a hamburger. She is somewhat of a hamburger expert and pronounced this one to be great. We also enjoyed a nice sauvignon blanc that we have ordered in fine dining restaurants before for a lot more money. All in all, a really good experience."

  • "Cool setting, great service and good food... The Red Flatbread pizza was very well prepared... My wife liked the mussels, the menu didn't mention they have some spicy kick to them, so they weren't for me... Chicken and pork are good choices, with nice portions... The Saffire Chardonnay by the bottle is a great deal... Anara was an excellent server!"

  • "avoid this restaurant. the food is pretensious, the execution poor. i had the lobster ravioli. it was swimming in grease. the raspberry napoleon was out of the box, sara lee, but not as good. a small cup of french onion soup ( fair) was $7. would never go back."

  • "Over-rated by far. Food was mediocre at best. Will never return The Open Table review does not state that this restaurant is in a hotel. Had I known that I would not have reserved."

  • "Service was good, but the omelet cook was no where to be found for quite a while. Finally a "substitute" was found. His skill was fine but he didn't seem confident. The bread choices were limited by 10:30. Otherwise it was a good experience. We took friends from out of town and they enjoyed the buffet as well."

  • "We had a wonderful three-course dinner, which included a salad with greens, red onions accompanied with a nice vingrette, small filet mignon and sorbet for dessert at Saffire Restaurant recently! Great food, price and service. We would highly recommend Saffire to our friends and family."

  • "Off the lobby of the Marriott. Food was good. Hotel fare. Classic marriott burger as well as some nice options. Pork chops and mussles were good. Semi interesting production wines. Chocolate mousse dessert was a bit bland, hopefully just an off night. Convenient in the neighborhood, Good but not great."

  • "What a under-appreciated gem Saffire is! My husband and I dined there on Saturday evening. I had the filet...cooked to perfection and it positively melted in my mouth. My husband had the grilled Salmon...also cooked to perfection...exactly as he had ordered it. The meal was complemented by a homemade focaccia bread that was warm soft and tasty served with oil, balsamic and spices for dipping. My appetizer was the best crab cake I have EVER had. It was all crab and no filling and seasoned to perfection. This was one of the best meals we have ENJOYED in a very long time. We will definitely be back!!!...sooner rather than later!!"

  • "Restaurant is located inside the Mariott Hotel on Lockwood Blvd. Plenty of private parking spaces. Great food, great service and reasonably priced. Charleston Cheesecake is one of the best I've had in a long time."

  • "Surprised by the food, was expecting worse. Not a bad choice if you're staying in or near the hotel and don't feel like going downtown."

  • "We chose this place from a list of "Restaurant Week" possibilities. We viewed the Restaurant Week Menu online and made our decision based on that menu. When we arrived for dinner, we discovered that the Restaurant Week menu changed. Now, we had to order off the regular menu. It was downhill from there. Waiter stopped by to check on us too often."
