A word from Sadie
Hollywood has a new leading lady and her name is Sadie. With a hint of the Depression Era and all the glamour of the Forties, this restaurant, mixology bar and lounge is full of life. Serving a New American menu with a local feel; a spirits selection that celebrates Hollywood during Prohibition; and a courtyard dining space like no other in LA, Sadie is destined to be a star.

When guests arrive at Sadie, we feel as though we are welcoming them into our home. Sadie achieves a warm, inviting, and surprisingly unpretentious, "at-home" atmosphere. The open layout is wrapped in deep neutral tones, with details such as reclaimed brick and wood, vintage light fixtures, and antique photographs certain to strike up conversation.

Sadie Kitchen & Lounge represents a new era of eating and drinking that combines the best of Hollywood's chic past with its provocative present. We welcome you to join us.

Diner Reviews
  • "We took our f9 & 14 year old grandchildren to celebrate. We dined at 6pm. We were welcomed an given a choice of comfortable booths outdoors. We had an exciting and delicious dinner. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I would bring guests here for an early quiet dinner. The food was imaginative and well prepared. See you soon!"

  • "There were 3 in our party, and first tike for We arrived at 6:30pm on a Tuesday and it wasn't too crowded, but did fill up. We ordered a bunch of small plates, apps, and 1 entree. The food was great, and so were the cocktails. The strawberry ice cubes were genius! We had a leisurely 3 hour meal and never felt rushed. Service was great, everyone was quick and attentive. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Yes, in a former lousy neighborhood we discovered Sadie on Las Palmas in central Hollywood. Great Bar, off the street with a dining area that reflects a more gentile time. The outdoor indoors is wonderful, especially with a lovely breeze. It was Tuesday evening and the low intensity Argentine guitar trio was perfect. The food is clever and some new spins on "southern" delicacies. And oysters. Too bad the waiter forgot them. Clever drinks. Evil dessert. If you are looking for a fun revival of your out to dinner experience, Sadie is worth checking out. Early (6) is the quiet, empty time. Then it starts to fill up around 8."

  • "The courtyard area is extremely cute. The service was mediocre. We ordered mostly appetizers for the 6 of us and just a couple entrees. ALL the appetizers came at once. I mentioned to the server and she told me it was because they are all appetizers. Yes, I understand that but it would be nice to have them paced a little better with cold dishes coming out before hot etc so the hot foods dont sit around and get cold. ALmost all the food was not to my liking and the others at my table, while not as picky as I, were not too impressed either. Everything is over seasoned, too much garlic, too much pepper, the salmon roe with the burrata was not even edible. Would probably never return."

  • "I took my daughter there for her 22nd birthday dinner. I had Jaime as a server and she made the night incredible!. Great service plus her anticipating our every need just set the restaurant above everyone else. Ambiance was beautiful and the service from the hostess to Jaime is what fine dining is about. Delicious food and we got lucky with the preset menu for LA Dine. This restaurant is a MUST. Loved it."

  • "I picked this place, first and foremost because of the patio seating. It looked very cute and different than most restaurants in the area. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and very pleased with the ambience when we first got there. About an hour in, a DJ started playing, and while the choice of music was fine, the volume increased significantly making it a bit awkward since I suddenly found myself yelling to get my conversation heard by the friends I was dining with. Luckily, we weren't the only ones who felt that way, and after a few somewhat annoying minutes of too loud music, I think a manager approached the DJ and had him lower the volume. Everything was good from that point on."

  • "I really do like this place, the music nights, the bar, the food can be pretty good at times, but the service outside of the bus crew and hostess, can be a lot better. Just hire (1) more waiter on music nights- it's really that easy."

  • "I couldn't even eat my "steak" because the mole topping was burnt to a crisp. The chefs should be ashamed of themselves for allowing something like that to be served. My girlfriend had the salmon and apparently the chefs confused salt for flavor...it was also unbearable and was cooked terribly."

  • "The $35 Dine LA dinner was a good value, compared with some others we've tried. There were two choices for the first course. For the the second course we enjoyed a generous plate of yummy fried chicken. The dessert we chose was a delightful surprise. It was a deconstructed strawberry short cake, with very light whipped cream, chocolate "cake," and small strawberries. The patio is a lovely spot. The only drawback was the VERY LOUD music. (There is a DJ on Friday nights.) We would return for dinner on other nights without the intrusive music."

  • "Tucked away in off of Hollywood Blvd, this restaurant is the great date place. Simple, yet, excellent food. really awesome decor. Reasonably priced for the type of food, service and ambiance."

  • "Not as good as in the past. Food was kinda mediocre except for the fried chicken (always great) and the desserts which were excellent. Gnocci serving was tiny, especially for $10 and salmon serving also miniature. Fun though entertaining out of town guests."

  • "My boyfriend and I came here before a show at the Improv. We were greeted by a friendly host who noted our time frame and made sure our waitress knew as well. Cocktails Kentucky Ninja is small but packs a punch! Brambler was refreshing but the chunks of blackberries were off putting for me Everything came at once which was both a blessing and a curse. What we ordered: Deviled "eggs and bacon" - typical deviled egg. Dozen Oysters - DELICIOUS. Fresh and lovely Broccolini - Mmm, smokey and spicy. I could have eaten just this. Potato and cheese gnocchi - We should have ordered 2 servings. Just saying. Octopus Shwarma - Tender, flavorful Mac and Cheese - good but plain Mussels - Solid choice Flatbread - Meh Would definitely come again!"

  • "I don't travel to Hollywood often for dinner, so it was a real treat when I walked in and saw the fabulous decor. We arrived 30 minutes early but the maitre d didn't make me feel badly about it. They weren't open yet, so he walked us to our table and said we could enjoy drinks for a while. The server arrived promptly when they opened and took our order. Loved the atmosphere and the food was very good. I enjoyed my steak even more the second day. The fried chicken had a bit too much siracha (which I think is overrated), but very juicy. Will return again!"

  • "Went to Sadie on a Friday evening with my mom. We were very tired from driving into LA that day and it was within walking distance to our hotel. We were seated promptly and quickly ordered drinks. I got the Temporado which was amazing. Our server was very attentive and accommodating - I can't eat gluten or dairy and she was very willing to check with the chef and even went as far as to ask him what menu items were the best for me. I got the grilled octopus and the halibut entree, both were delicious. The broth that comes with the halibut was outstanding. My mother ordered the brussel sprouts, marinated olives and the kobe sliders. My only issue is that they had a dj playing who was very loud."

  • "Sadie is a great place with eclectic menu offerings. It's not for the weight watcher, but that's quite alright because the food is worth splurging on. Great service and terrific atmosphere fit for romance or a dinner with the boss and her husband or wife. We enjoyed it and we're picky when it comes to food and service. Give it a go! You won't be disappointed."

  • "This restaurant is a great find. The patio is truly lovely with it's dim lighting and spacious, lush booths. The food is consistently good. We brought friends visiting from Texas and enjoyed sharing small plates. An added bonus was live music which began after 8:00pm. The band played everything from Gypsy Kings to the Beatles. Great place before theatre (Pantages and Fountain Theatres are both nearby)."

  • "I would not recommend this restaurant only because they have live so-called "entertainment" which is (1) awful and (2) too loud to be able to carry on a conversation with others at the table. If it were not for the live "music" we would be back again and again and again."

  • "Our waitress was fantastic and the food was delicious! We got a bunch of small plates.... the portions are large though so that was more than enough! Love the outdoor/indoor feeling and the atmosphere was pretty and fun. Great place to grab dinner with friends."

  • "we were there with 4 people. we all liked it. started with small plates just to see how full we were, then skipped to desserts. both were terrific. i look forward to going back to try some main courses. music started a little before nine and was good. the only weird thing is that Schlitz is the happy hour beer. it wasn't so great in its prime (when there was little competition) and now seems even worse!"

  • "This was a god find to dine before a theater show. The food and service was very good, but the menu is very limited with only 6 main entrees listed. The setting is outdoor garden tent style with great atmosphere."

  • "I love the patio at Sadie! One of the best in town. However, it took me three visits to realize, Sadie is a waste of time. The service is atrocious. Each time I have visited, the service has been awful. The waiter/waitress shows up to take your order and the poor bus staff does everything else. I had to track down the actual waitstaff to ask where our drinks were(the drinks that were ordered when the menus were first handed to us, 20 mins ago!). Anyways, shame on me for returning two more times after my first visit was so bad. It took me that long to realize, LA has plenty of restaurants with lovely patios and lovely service to match. My advice, dine elsewhere."

  • "With so many other exciting restaurants in Hollywood these days, you can probably give Sadie a miss. The outdoor space is lovely on a nice night, and the bar was hopping. The menu is enticing, with lots of wonderful sounding small plates, but everything we ordered was just...fine. Not memorable, but edible. The best dish was the crispy Brussels sprouts, but even those verged on being too greasy. The service was a bit slow but the server was very nice, and removed a dish from the bill that we didn't care for. The manager also checked in personally, when she heard we didn't enjoy it, which was nice. I wish the food had measured up to the magic of the space."

  • "Sadie has a really cool vibe and a lot of energy - I'd go here on a date or for a night out with friends. Sadly, our experience was marred by mediocre service. Everything was slow, and our drinks came out 10 minutes after our appetizer. We asked our waiter too, for a new table, when a large party got a standing buffet set up right next to our table. It was so uncomfortable trying to sit and eat with people standing so close to us, with group's behinds in our faces. Our server accommodated our request for a new table, but after all that it was hard to salvage the experience. Really enjoyed the grilled octopus and the fried chicken with sweet potato waffles."

  • "Had no idea there was a nice place to meet a friend with a great drink/wine list and good food in this neighborhood! Pleasantly surprised. We sat at the bar, but the outdoor patio (retractable roof?) was gorgeous. A few tables and booths inside by the bar as well. Fantastic happy hour that lasted until 8pm! Nice bonus!"

  • "As I entered and requested my reserved seat, there was a bit of confusion. They seemed unprepared to receive guests, though they were fairly pleasant. I enjoyed the Old Fashioned cocktail at happy hour. while I awaited my table. Once seated, the server was pleasant and had helpful suggestions. We opted for a few small plates and everything was tasty. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. Very well designed and we enjoyed the indoor outdoor feel of the atrium like area. I'll return and try some heavier meals and signature dishes."

They were around but never bothered us. Parking is easy and ample and safe. The menu is smal but mighty. Great app to choose from and not to be missed the Devilled Egss, Southern Fried Chicken and the Sliders! Try the secialty bar drinks."

  • "A great find for before or after the theater! With a nice menu of entrees and small plates, I found everything I wanted for dinner and even a dessert that was fantastic. I ordered small plates of margarita flatbread, albacore tartare and crispy Brussel sprouts. They were all fresh and wonderful and even too much for just one person. But the awesomeness continued when I tried the sticky toffee for dessert: a small date cake covered in a delicious toffee sauce with sliced persimmon and house made whip cream on the side. Make sure you save room for this dish, you will be glad you did! With a drink and coffee my check was $41.00 and well worth it."

  • "This place is great and surpassed my expectations . We ordered almost everything on the snacks and small plates section of the menu and shared with one another so we could have a taste of everything. The drink menu is great as well. I would recommend trying the Bramble. It was a hit at our table. We will be back!!"

  • "Stopped in for a quick dinner for two before a show on a Wednesday night...wished we could have stayed for the live music, but we were on a time crunch, and were actually the first guests for service. Started in bar to catch a happy hour round and appetizer. Great select options on happy hour (roasted bone marrow rocks!)...great service at bar. Dined on the patio (beautiful ambience) and really enjoyed all dishes. Octopus was a fave! All in all a very good dinner, and we'll be back soon check out the full experience!"

  • "This place had great drinks but the food was very Much lacking. We had the DineLA menu and it had great selections but the food was not that great. One of our dishes which was chicken and waffles, the chicken was raw. The bone marrow I ordered was also undercooked. The only redeeming part of this place was the drinks. They were awesome!! Now if the kitchen could keep up with the bars standards then this place would be awesome! The ambience is great!! The food very disappointing."

  • "Heard about this restaurant a lot during dineLA so finally made reservations and was pleasantly surprised! From the friendly hostess and manager to the yummy food presentation to the decor of the restaurant, everything was on point. It used to be a nightclub back in the days so it still has that hip, vibrant & cool feel to it, but still feels like a restaurant. There's a bar and main dining area which is like a covered patio. The food was very good and unique-definitely not your typical american food. Our waitress was also very informative and checked on us regularly. Even the manager made his rounds and checked on everyone, every good customer service!"

  • "Went before the theater. We lucked out because it was restaurant week and the menu allowed us to have between two people 6 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. We had a total of 5 different cocktails and each was interesting and tasty."
    Dined on 1/31/2014
  • "We enjoyed the restaurant and the food. The selection is very limited and somewhat strange, but good quality. We were a group of eight and had several courses. Very big negative point I need to mention, is that no one course was severed in a way that all of us could eat together. Each time at least 3-4 people had to wait, which killes the atmosphere."
    Dined on 1/30/2014
  • "I really wanted to like this place because the staff from host to waitress were so nice and accommodating, but the food was just subpar, bordering on inedible. Please change chefs then I might go back, because it's otherwise a good spot."

  • "On my fifth visit to Sadie, I was convinced that bringing a group of customers, important ones, to this gem would be a good thing. It was. It wasn't. The food awesome, the wine list great, and the service began as accomodating. As the evening wore on, the service slowed. And slowed. The lovely patio space got colder and colder and colder, and while I'd still recommend it, there are definitely second thoughts for next time. We asked four times for the heaters to be turned on -- maybe they just didn't work -- but it was dang chilly out there. And we had to ask nice busboys to find our server on every occasion. And, it wasn't busy, it was Tuesday night! BTW, before you think of us as difficult, we're just not."
