Diner Reviews
  • "We had a delicious lunch to celebrate my birthday. I ate every last crumb and wanted more but my belly was full. The desserts were so good I could go back for them alone."

  • "We enjoyed great service, attentive and yet allowing us to enjoy the evening. Dinner on a week night is different from the weekend and we enjoyed it very much. Food, as always, was delicious and beautifully prepared."

  • "We have been going to Sacks Café since the early 1990s. And we keep going because Sacks Café is consistently great!"

  • "The food was wonderful, service great, nice cosy space. Very loud however, hard to hear my husband just across a two person table."

  • "I usually only go to Sack's for brunch, but I saw a groupon for dinner and thought that would be great as the brunch food and service is exceptional. I had the shrimp pasta and my wife had the pork tenderloin. Both meals were very well presented and delicious. Our server was attendant but not overbearing and we finished our meal with a little chocolate cake and special of the day ice cream. All in all it was what I have come to expect from sack's and I will definateley go back for my dinners and brunches when downtown."

  • "Having been to Sack's before, I was excited to introduce it to a friend of mine. She thoroughly enjoyed the evening - everything from the decor to the food and the wine were impressive. It is a great little restaurant in downtown with a menu that changes frequently but with service and attention to detail that never does."

  • "We took our friends out for the 15th wedding anniversary last night and it was so much fun! The wine was fantastic. The appetizers were delicious. And entrées were out of this world!"

  • "Went for dinner with a group from work. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Food was great and had a nice variety. Will definitely being going back and one of my favorites in Anchorage so far."

  • "The food was excellent, especially the roasted duck with beet puree, the server was very attentive and the entire restaurant had a very positive and lively atmosphere. Sacks would be a good place for a group event or even a date!"

  • "The food, service an atmosphere is always outstanding. We received a warm welcome, were seated promptly and enjoyed every bite of our meal. Our server was very helpful in suggesting the evenings specials. It was a wonderful place to spend an evening catching up with old time friends and having a fabulous dinner."

  • "This used to be my favorite restaurant for a special evening out, but no more. Two very disappointing visits means it is off the list. It's not just me, but each of my companions was also terribly disappointed. One visit was for brunch and the other for dinner. Can't say anything nice about either meal. It still would be a fun place to drop in for desert with a group after a show at the PAC."

  • "Had a good meal at Sacks Wednesday night. prompt seating, tasty beer and wine options. THe food as always was good. The only complaint was the long wait for food after our order. This seemed specific to our table."

  • "Had a long-overdue mother/daughter dinner at Sacks last weekend and LOVED it!!! Wonderful service right from the star, fantastic wine list, delicious food - I could go on. Small restaurant, but I think this adds to its charm and exclusiveness. A must go"

  • "We had the bruschetta to start, small, but delicious. They serve you bread before your meal with an amazing butter that I believe had caper and dill in it. I ordered the seafood pot, which was good, but there was not much seafood in it. It mainly consisted of a broth a piece of toasted bread and cauliflower. I would not suggest getting this if you're hungry. My boyfriend ordered the filet, which was AMAZING and cooked perfectly (I ended up eating some of this to fill the void). We had the flour-less chocolate cake and their ice cream special (vanilla wafer with bacon toffee) for desert, YUM! Will definitely go back and just order something a little more hearty."

  • "Sack's is always a great place to meet friends for a great social and dining experience but before going to the PAC is even better!!"
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "We found the menu to have interesting, unusual or odd items, many of them with a long list of ingredients. The menu seems to lean towards creative bistro-style food. I was disappointed to find that split pea soup was on the menu but not available. The staff were good. Not particularly better than most other restaurants. (I've had equally good service at City Diner, for example.) The food was well made and nicely presented. Timing seemed right on. The atmosphere is a cross between dated, bland and 'okay.' There are many paintings on the walls, presumably for sale. What character has been established is a few dusty, triangular panes of glass over the empty bar. The rest is a generic strip-mall appearance."

  • "Wonderful sauces and condiments that are subtle, light and delicious. Salmon cooked perfectly."

  • "Menu is diverse and changing with the seasons/ availability of fresh produce. New touches on items like bruchetta or the beef filet. Enjoy this treasure of Anchorage."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Our wait person did not introduce herself, she did not check up on us at all, we were served much later than other tables who arrived after we did and in general our wait person was inattentive. The food was great. Hopefully on our next visit we will have a server who is more attentive to their guests."

  • "We went initially for dinner. Food was very good - my wife thought her food excellent, mine very good. Wait staff was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. My wife is gluten free and they were easily able to accommodate without difficulty. Good ambiance. We came back for brunch the next day and brunch was outstanding. Great place."

  • "Had the salmon burger! Was told by server it was really a red salmon filet, & very good! It was not! It was a salmon patty and very dry! Normally I have a very good meal there but was not impressed this time!"

  • "We took a couple out to celebrate their anniversary. Sacks has always been one of our favorite Anchorage restaurants, and it didn't disappoint on this special occasion. Our friends had never been to Sacks and they were pleased. Good food, excellent wine, and top-notch service. Sacks continues to please after all these years!"

  • "The service was friendly and attentive without hovering. The food was outstanding. I loved the cod fish special of the day. It was original and flavorful."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "Terrific meal for the two of us; she had tomato soup (she reported it the best!) and Maryland crab cakes - both were outstanding. I had a Caesar salad and the pork tenderloin meal. Everything was delicious - no room for improvement in the food and service. It was an "energetic" crowd - made conversation a bit difficult, but everyone was having a good time."

  • "My filet was cooked to perfection and I loved the spicy thai prawn salad."
    Dined on 1/22/2014
  • "We enjoyed lovely salads and light dishes with our wine before and evening show. It was just the right touch and we thought the King Salmon Tempura Roll was perfectly prepared and our salads fresh and delicious. The wine selections were ample and have enough variety in both the by-the-glass and bottle options. All in all, Sacks is a winner."
