Diner Reviews
  • "Sabio again proved to be everything I hoped it would be. I had the vegetarian entree which was a mushroom stuffed ravioli in an amazing sauce. Great wine & cocktail list, ambience, overall wonderful experience. Bravo"

  • "This is an elegant menu, lots of variety. Server well trained. Bar service slower than the crowd level would dictate. Definately going back."

  • "Great location, great decor. Food was tasteless. Barest basic seasonings. Filet was good quality but lacked even a touch of salt or pepper, as far as I could tell there wasn't anything seasoned. Rack of lamb was served rare and the quality was poor. Chewy and stringy. Duck breast was good as was the vegetable puree but was served over a violet colored sauce that was unappealing. Appetizers were lobster risotto, nearly over done in the fryer but tasty inside. Dungenes crab cake was mostly a deviled crab cake, not lump as our server indicated. I would probably try it again, assuming this time was a fluke since most of the reviews of the food have been positive. Service was okay not great."

  • "The hostess greeted us warmly & appropriately. However, we found the young woman who waited our table to be uncommunicative, unresponsive, almost unfriendly. Once she brought us our food & asked a minute or two later how we were doing, we didn't see her again until much later. If the restaurant was busy (little sign of that, though some diners were outside), they should have additional staff. Food, BTW, was excellent but high-priced."

  • "When we arrived we waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our server was Jane and she was terrific but the kitchen and bar must have been extremely busy because everything took forever. My chicken was dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and tasteless. It was overall not a good meal."

  • "We took out if town guests because of the historic building In which Sabios is located. Also because we know the food is good and the menu is varied. We had a wonderful evening. The tables are placed far enough apart that diners are unaware of others conversations. We all chose different entrees and we all loved our choices the waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. We sat for quite a while after eating and we were left alone to enjoy our conversation. We have eaten lunch at Sabiis many times. I will definitely put it on the list for dinner as well."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner, the service was excellent, and they did everything to accommodate us on a Saturday evening without a reservation. Terrific staff and service! I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. Food was excellent and they had a great wine list. Will definitely patronize this wonderful restaurant again. Thanks for a great evening."

  • "Good was great; awesome presentation of food is always consistent. Service was fair; waiter not exceptly friendly and appeared very discombobulated at times during our dining experience."

  • "The service and the food are outstanding at Sabios. We have never been disappointed. Four of us were at dinner together and three of the four ordered fish, which was prepared perfectly. The presentation is beautiful and each mouthful is a delicious treat."

  • "Being a resident of Miami Beach, I am used to fine dining with a great selection of restaurants to choose. Lexington has so many restaurants, but in my opinion, most are below average, especially in a metropolitan town. My experience at Sabio was a great experience for myself, and my guest. The service was good, having three people who attended the table very periodically; the food was most delectable, and served in a very timely manner; and was a very nice atmosphere. I throughly enjoyed myself, and when in the greater Lexington area again, I will dine with Sabio."

  • "My wife and I went to Sabio's for our wedding anniversary and were glad we did. We took advantage of an unusually cool July evening and dined on the patio, where the trees and fences provide good separation from the street noise. Our waiter (alas, it was his last night there) was personable and knowledgeable and provided excellent service. The food was exceptional. We especially liked the wok charred green beans as a starter, the grilled vegetable salad, and the crispy duck breast which was accompanied by wonderful pureed root vegetables and haricot verts. Sabio's is a real gem in Lexington."

  • "We had a 9 member dinner party and everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. We had drinks in the bar before dinner. The wine was wonderful and mixed drinks were divine. With such a large group, we enjoyed appetizers, salads, entrees, and desserts. Our dinner and evening were perfect in every way. If you have not been to Sabio...Go, go now and save some room for dessert! (Austin is an Awesome server.)"

  • "The food was perfectly prepared and well presented. A fried green tomato salad was delightful, but a charge of 1/2 the price was charged for splitting it between two. A disappointment! Service was excellent, but the wine list, particularly by the glass was not very interesting. Even the bottle list lacked a good variety of white wines. With so many really fine wines available, at customer friendly prices, the selection was not so good. Certainly worth returning to and we will do so."

  • "Scallops were perfect... probably the best I've had in Lexington. Grilled ceaser salad was also fantastic! Our service was fair, but very nice when we saw her. Had the creme Brule and bread pudding with a cup of coffee.... damn good! Creme Brule was different in favor (notes of lavender and honey) but very good. Bread pudding was pretty damn good ( Palmers and Johnathan at Gratz park better). Overall, good good, drinks and atmosphere ."

  • "First time at Sabio, but won't be our last. The restaurant was charming, with its glass windows, exposed brick, beautiful hardwood floors, paintings and unique colors. The service was first class, the food was excellent...best steak I have had in a long time. Our waiter was extremely attentive and just a nice guy. We asked him to take a couple of pictures, as this was an anniversary dinner, and he was more than willing. There were several wine options; everything was reasonable. The bar area as well as the outdoor seating also would have been a good choice for our meal. A totally enjoyable evening!"

  • "Outdoor dining experience should be requested. The entre and appetizer food is over done, sauces are heavy and rich almost to the extent of hiding any true quality of the food. Not a place for foodies, but a lovely place to visit for desert or a simple glass of wine on a summer evening on their patio. The service is good, but if the only server employed the night you visit gets a big table your smaller table's service might suffer. This place is definitely not the old Dudley's at this location."

  • "We finally made it out to Sabio to try and it was ok. The patio dinning was very nice and the menu was exciting to see the different options."

  • "We ate out on the brick patio, which is a fantastic environment with the huge shade trees and garden right by. Our waitress was fabulous, and very knowledgeable about gluten-free diets, including the difference between celiac and gluten-sensitivity. Our smoked salmon appetizer was wonderful, the wine was good, and my husband and I both had the salmon for our entree. I thought the beans were delicious, but the avocado/gauc type topping on the fish needed a little something more. The dessert I had with ice cream, berries and a champagne cream topping was amazing. I would definitely go back and would recommend it to others."

  • "One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant in a while. My husband and I decided to sit on the patio because it was such a nice night out. A fly got in my wine, no big deal, but when I asked the waiter what their policy is for replacing the glass, his response was, "Well... that happens in nature, but I'll get you a new one." The tone was very condescending and completely insulting. When he brought my new glass of wine, be made a show of setting a napkin over the glass so 'nature wouldn't happen again.' The food was okay, but not for the price. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere you will actually be treated with respect."

  • "I have arranged business group meetings at Sabio several times. The "foodies" love it! Most of my guests have been from out of state. Location (close to UK), service and prices are also pluses."

  • "My boyfriend and I traveled to Lexington for the Horsey Hundred bicycle ride this Memorial Day. We always look for a new restaurant to try on one of our evenings in town. This one was the best pick yet!!!!!! Delicious food, a beautiful outdoor dining patio, great staff all in a very eclectic and wonderfully restored old building."

  • "On a day visit to Lexington and needed a place for lunch. Sabio came first on my search for a restaurant and I am so glad I did follow that recommendation. Food was excellent including a very nice chocolate dessert. The ambiance was perfect. The place has also a large indoor and bar area which seemed nice but I didn't use. "

  • "We had a small group of former business colleagues and spouses meeting for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance was great for conversation. The tables are well spaced, allowing for privacy in a room 3/4 full of people. The menu was fairly small, but varied to handle all desires. The specials filled out the menu even more. Our group had filet mignon, salmon, osso buco, gnocchi, and duck as entrees, and everyone was happy with their selections. The gentleman who had the duck was from New York, and said it was the best he had eaten. Service was relaxed but efficient. Prices were appropriate. Altogether, a very nice evening!"

  • "I really love a great dining experience! When my family dines out we want to be impressed. This being said, our food quality was good but preparation and presentation were unimpressive. Frankly, I could have easily reproduced any one of the items we ordered. Sabio lacked the "wow" factor we require and while we appreciated the adept service, this alone isn't enough to ensure our return."

  • "Where Dudley's used to be. Eat outside in the courtyard. Food is fantastic. We had asian green beans and crab cakes for appetizers, humongeous diver scallops, perfectly cooked steaks, dauphinoise potatoes, and scrumptuous salads. The 2012 Patz and Hall Pinor Noir was a knock out red cherry, spicebox joy. Excellent service. Enjoy! "

  • "Treated our Co-Worker to Birthday Luncheon, party of 7, was a perfectly beautiful day, the Patio was spectacular! Reasonably priced luncheon menu with great variety, the food and service was fabulous! Have previously reserved at Sabio's in the dining area and the patio for other business luncheons and asked guests how was lunch? The comments are always rave reviews! Will return again and again!"

  • "Perfect weather, incredible food, great company, wonderful server. Everything was great. We indicated at the start that we were going to take our time and enjoy a leisurly evening. The server may have taken it a bit too much to heart...but since we asked for slowww, we decided to be content w/ it. We have eaten here many times and enjoy it every time!"

  • "It was Derby weekend so I did not think I could get a reservation but I found Sabio, and very glad I did. Food was great and our waiter (Mason) was the best I have had. Very knowledgeable of the menu and food preparation. We were seated in the bar area and he was also apologetic of the noise level from the table next to us. I am sure that my rating on noise level and ambience would have been different if I was in the dinning area. Great place, I will go back but really do want to be seated in dinning area. "

  • "Went for brunch. Sat at 1:30 didn't get asked if we wanted any food for 1 hour. Drinks came. Group of 14 but the restaurant was not busy on account that it was a Saturday morning. I come to Sabio at least once a month and will continue to do so because the food is good and it's out of the way of downtown. I like their dinner options as well as their specials which are usually excellent. Wine list is good. The service is always variable though. Never excellent. Sometimes good. Sometimes bad."

  • "4 adults had a wonderful dinner out on the patio. Our server was amazing, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable but not pushy or over zealous. Exactly what you would like to see in a waiter. His timing was always perfect. The food was great. All four of us tried different things and we loved all of them. The atmosphere was beautiful, relaxing and really enjoyable. Overall the evening was perfect. "

  • "Although a little loud (we were seated in the bar), we had a great meal and a great time recently with a party of 8 folks. The food was delicious and creative without being weird, servings were very generous, and the presentations were attractive and innovative. Overall, great upscale food with food that wasn't fussy but wasn't boring either. I will definitely go back and would recommend Sabio for a fun night out."

  • "We were warmly greeted by Mason, our server. The dinner was simply fantastic, great attention to detail, the freshest ingredients, and some "no drama" , much appreciated customization. The salmon- superb. And the oddest but most delicious started, wok-cooked green beans with cashew. Great mixed drinks as well. What a gem."
