Diner Reviews
  • "Really great place to grab a bottle of wine and take in a long dinner on the back patio and yard. Definitely recommended."

  • "Very little to choose from in the moderately priced range that was drinkable. It was just disappointing on the wine front for any restaurant but a wine bar in particular. Full disclosure that I am from California and I have expectations as I am used to drinking high quality wine in restaurants for reasonable prices. The food was a mixed bag of good to not so good but nothing great. With The TreeHouse and Margot's in the neighborhood, I'd think they would feel some pressure to improve."

  • "We loved it. Our first time. Had Lamb Chops. Very good. Split an appetizer, which was different and delicious. The wine was great. No complaints!"

  • "Sat us next to a door with servers going in and out the entire time, even though not crowded. My sides were totally bland. Felt like a new restaurant trying to work out kinks. Loved the wine list!!"

  • "Waited a very long time for our hummus appetizer and then again a long wait for entrees. The fish and duck weren't cooked through. The veggies were still raw on all the entrees."

  • "Rumors is something a long time east Nashville resident will hold close and dear. Always on point, always what you wanted- food, ambiance, service. This time our waiter was Jabari.. Couldn't ask for better. Plus Andrew behind the bar is really helpful and knowledgeable. Ask for those two and you're assured a perfect time. xxx"

  • "We each ordered 2 glasses of red wine, so we got to try 4 wines total. I am in no way a wine connoisseur but all 4 wines tasted absolutely wonderful. We did not order any entrees, but instead enjoyed several appetizers / small plates. The smoked salmon toast was really good; the charcuterie plate was just okay. We had great service and enjoyed the atmosphere!"

  • "Rumours East is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants in East Nashville. I took two of my friends there who were in from out of town and they have not stopped talking about how "perfect" of a restaurant choice it was. The food was amazing, the drinks were delicious, and the service was oustanding. I would recommend Rumours East to everyone I know! It's well worth the cost."

  • "We wanted to like this place but they gave us nothing to like. The best thing about this restaurant is that is located within the heart of Nashville (location, location) and it is a beautiful restaurant. On this particular evening, there were only 1 other table in the main room and a maybe 3/4 people at the bar. The waiters were more interested in the conversation with themselves, rather then the customers. It took them 15 minutes to bring 1 glass of wine to our table. It was poor, slow, service all evening! I DO NOT recommend this restaurant."

  • "Beautiful place a bit off the beaten path....enjoyed the backyard last fall and the dining room this spring. I will be back to try the front porch and the beautiful bar. Servers are smart and kind... They know their product."

  • "Great service and a proper bartender. Food was superb."

  • "This restaurant is in an old house. The ambiance is very charming and the tables are spaced nicely apart. There is nice music and a gas fireplace when the weather is a bit chilly . The menu is short but has a dish of each type of meat - fish , pork , beef and vegetarian. I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked and excellent. This is not a large portion restaurant. It's about quality. The salad and desserts were also excellent. We enjoyed our visut here very much."

  • "Great experience at Rumours East. Went out for a girl's night with some friends. The wine list was perfect. I enjoyed several items on the happy hour menu because we all had enough to share. The coffee was delicious as well, I had two cups. I really like that I was able to use open table to make a reseveration."

  • "The service was great, but the chef will not make good modifications for food allergies. Was really disappointed in that. I order the steak, a safe choice since it came with a gluten free squash."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "I loved the appetizer menu at Rumors. Lots of options and everything was good. I was there with a couple that had every dietary restriction imaginable....no gluten, no dairy, no nuts, no soy, no oats (no fun!!) and they had options for all of those issues. The staff was extremely accommodating to them and for that, I was quite impressed. So, if you have food issues/allergies, this is the place for you. As for the rest of the menu, I was excited for the coffee rubbed lamb chops and they were sort of disappointing, so I would not suggest those. Otherwise, it was a cool atmosphere and would be a great place to go for drinks and appetizers."

  • "I went here with my girlfriend for her birthday. The food was incredible and the service was some if the best I've had in Nashville.jamie was attentive and courteous and knew the menu well enough to make excellent recommendations. I would Reccomend this to anyone. Notable beer list as well!"

  • "I was extremely pleased with the level of service provided by our server and the chef. They worked together to accommodate a special dietary request and didn't miss a beat in finding alternatives that would work for my guest."

  • "Excellent from start to finish. Chef Arakelian is amazingly creative with his food, and I've not had better lamb chops anywhere in town!"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Overall the food was great. My only issue was with the smoked salmon appetizer. It was so heavily seasoned with black pepper and salt that it was almost inedible. Rumors was still offering a Valentine's Day special since it was still "Valentine's Weekend" so we were able to get a nice bottle of wine half off with the purchase of two entrees. We were sat at a table right next to the door leading to the patio. My girlfriend had to move her chair twice to let an inconsiderate smoker in and out. That part I'm not happy about at all."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "We were 30 minutes early and our table was ready and were immediately seated. They had their Valentine's Day package and had great choices to pick. We had the 3 course meal. We had an exquisite Crab bisque that was amazing and followed with our entrees of the Duck Two Ways and the Lamb Chops. The duck was out of this world. I kept eating from both can't pick one over the other. The duck in the phyllo dough was very good, the dough had the baklava taste of cinammon and honey. My sweetheart oohed and awed over the lamb chops as well. We capped off our dinner with a chocolate creme brulee that was decadent. The chocolate was a dark chocolate and when eaten with the sliced strawberries and white wine they made for a great experience."

  • "They had a wonderful 3 and 4 course menu for their valentines weekend deal! Staff were very nice and timely with each course. Excellent knowledge of the wine List. Great atmosphere and had an outdoor patio and lawn that we will have to go back To dine at once the weather is warm."

  • "My wife and I have celebrated the last 4 Valentine's days at Rumors East. The food is always top notch, with selections that are gourmet and some that are exotic for more adventurous diners. The restaurant is in an older victorian style house with high ceilings and fireplaces, and original paintings on the wall. Relaxing pleasant background music. The staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. Parking can be challenging at times since there is street parking only, but we've never had too much of a problem with that. The food is all about quality, and not so much quantity. However, the Valentine's dinner comes with either a 3 course or a 4 course, that includes salad, appetizer, entree, and dessert. Wine pairings are also available."

  • "Had dinner with 3 friends. 2 of the diners were not impresses with the vegetable entree or the steak. The salmon was excellent. Attentive wait staff. No bread unless you ask."

  • "This restaurant is in a great location and provides a unique atmosphere. It is in a converted home in East Nashville. The menu is concise and yet it provides good options for most people. I especially enjoyed the octopus and chorizo appetizer. The restaurant has a lengthy wine and cocktail menu. Overall the service was wonderful and the food was very good."

  • "The food was excellent and the bartender really knew what he was doing. Was a bit hard to find parking, but was well worth it"

  • "The ambience and service was impeccable. My only complaint was the food temperature. While the flavors were all there and very vibrant, my food was cold."
    Dined on 1/10/2014
  • "Loved the fire place on a cold night. The music was too loud and not what I consider good music to eat by. I rated the noise level energetic because of the music. Our table of four had three different dishes. One was very tasty and parts of the other two were very good and parts not as good. The two appetizers were delicious. The service could not have been better."

  • "This is a wine bar which serves food, as opposed to a restaurant, based on our experience. I have had hummus probably 50 times and never a quarter cup, seriously? The quality of the food is not the problem, The Lebanese chef uses traditional spices to add lots of flavor to food. I had a winter salad that was memorable and the house made lamb sausage was spicy and well seasoned. Some of the plates were reasonable in size, such as the salads, but others like the cauliflower croquettes were too small. 5 small pieces is just ridiculous. The wine list was OK. I am a wine geek and could find interesting things. It is apparent that the owners have taken time to hunt out gems."

  • "This place had great atmosphere: cute rooms with fireplaces, subtly decorated tables. However, the portions were way too small, especially for the $80 prix fixe! We left still somewhat hungry after 5 courses. Shame. The food we were served was delicious and creative, but we wished that there was more of it!"

  • "We really enjoyed it! The chef customized to out spice level and the food wasgood."

  • "We enjoyed the creative ambience, the wine, the flavors...but there was one thing that made a lasting impression. In East Nashville, Rumors could be easily perceived as pretentious or exclusive. But as we sat in the corner, enjoying our romantic evening, we watched a homeless man sitting in the parlor, drinking his coffee, and enjoying the comfort of a warm place to sit. It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "Two of our party had filet and the other two had grouper. Both dishes were excellent and we were all well satisfied. There excellent choices to be found at Rumors East, with taste and flavors found in few other places in Nashville. It is a great place to experience something different, interesting, and unusual."

  • "The wait staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience and the food was excellent. The cauliflower fritter appetizer was super tasty, our fish dinners were lovely and our seasonal dessert was divine!"

  • "Everyone loved their food. The waitstaff was attentive and polite, offering suggestions. We were a party of 7, seated in the bar at a large table. It was quiet enough that we could talk with everyone at the table."

  • "This place was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The bartender had great recommendations on wines (they had the best list I've seen in a long time) and every dish was fabulous! I will definitely be retuning if we come back to Nashville!"
