Diner Reviews
  • "If you live in Central, Leeward, or the Northshore side of Oahu, you'd have to drive all the way into the Downtown area for a special dining experience. Not anymore. Roy's Ko'Olina has got everything you need to impress, romance, and satisfy any foodie's cravings this side of the island; without the long drive, long lines, and parking hassle. You can dress up, or down; I've seen shorts w/slippers there. Service is excellent, my 6 refills of iced tea never got bellow half. The server was very knowledgeable, and her recommendations was spot on. They do have a kids menu! Great resort area to walk it all off after (Aulani has awesome grounds to explore)."

  • "Had lunch at Roy's Koolina. Service was great and food terrific. It was my brothers birthday and we wanted to go somewhere special. The staff made it memorable with a free rib pupu and a special dessert. We will definitely return."

  • "We came in for our daughters 3rd Anniversary and had a great time. The food and service were spot on! Chatted with Louis the Manager and were visited by Chef Daryl Always have fun and we will be back soon"

  • "Went for lunch this time & everything was great. We had asst'd appetizers, including the canoe for 2, drinks, lunch & the Painters Pallette for dessert---5 kinds of sorbet on a shortbread "pallette". Food was delicious, as usual. It seems like there are not as many choices for lunch entrees as there are for dinner. Next time, we would probably order more appetizers. Our servers name was Sharae(hope I spelled it right) and she was so friendly and efficient, always checking to see if we were okay or if we needed anything. It was surprisingly not too busy at 1pm. so we probably got more attention than usual but she was wonderful anyway! We will definitely ask for her the next time we go back. Roys never disappoints!"

  • "Couldn't ask for a better quality service and although food portions aren't as big as the bill, lol I had no issues paying it and leaving a big tip. You can plan @$70 each"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary and thoroughly Loved our dinner. We don't have a lot of money so dinner at Roy's is a once a year treat for us that we Really enjoy."

  • "The food was delicious, I had the lamb and it was cooked and plated (it all looked like art work) to perfection. I was very surprised and very pleased. My wife had an amazing looking seafood dish and she enjoyed it but not as much as I loved my food. The mushroom, French bread and blue cheese appetizer was very good as well. The desert was meh...not even average but everything else was top notch. It's pretty pricey, especially if you drink a few alcoholic drinks and get appetizers. Our bill for 2 was around $192 and for the most part it was worth it."

  • "Was hard to have good conversation as it is a noisy ambiance. Could have been cleaner."

  • "The food was fresh and flavorful. The staff was very polite and friendly. The menu is a little pricey the average entree is about $40."

  • "Great services and food is excellent. It is our one favorite place to eat no matter what occasion it is. The waiters are so friendly they even take time to chat with u and make feel welcome."

  • "From start to finish, this was the best! They had a great Keki menu which made my kids (and me) happy from the start. My husband and I shared the Hamachi Crudo and were delighted! He had the Ribeye and I had the Uncle Roy's combo. They were both cooked to perfection and presented beautifully! Finally, you can't leave without having the Apple Banana Bread Pudding. It was sublime! Be prepared to pay--our dinner was nearly $400 with the wine but worth every penny!!"

  • "Very good fresh food I enjoy that entrees can be ordered as a full entrée or appetizer. It makes it easier when you cant make up your mind."

  • "We ate here three years ago and it was great. This time, the food was ok, and the service was terrible. Felt like we were being rushed along and the waiter had little interest in answering our questions. Will not go again."

  • "The food was great but the noise level was high. We were there to celebrate our anniversary! But we were placed by the door while everyone walked in and out."

  • "Another outstanding meal at our favorite restaurant on the island. I just can't say enough about how amazing the food is every time we come here."

  • "We usually have a really good time at Roy's in Hawaii - usually in Poipu on Kauai. We had last been to this Roy's about 13 years ago. The food quality remains very good, but service was slow, forgetful - possibly due to heavy crowds due to the Holiday weekend. Very noisy around us. Restaurant might benefit from some modifications to cut down on sound level. Lots of hard reflective surfaces for sound to bounce around. Made it hard to have a conversation. On the whole a good experience - the food saved the day."

  • "Three of us dined there. The butterfish and seafood duo were excellent, as wee the appetizers- beet salad and Chinese Spring rolls. The only disappointing dish was the ribeye - about 1/4 of it was in edible fat, but the rest of it was good."

  • "We had the Dim Sum appetizer for 2 and another sushi roll...the food is AMAZING! The keiki meals include a appetizer, drink, entree and dessert so a really good value. We followed up with the chocolate souffle and upside down pineapple cake (drool). Our server was very attentive and great with suggestions for first time diners. Can't wait to go back and will be recommending Roy's to friends and family."

  • "we enjoyed a dinner break away from the Aulani resort across the road. The meal catered for my wife, myself and our 5 year old son. The kids menu was great, it was bought out with our appetizers. I tried the lamb chops which were perfectly cooked and flavoursome. I'm from New Zealand where we pride ourselves on our lamb and this was as good as home I'm on a paleo diet so this fitted in perfectly. My wife had the chicken which she was impressed with but the chocolate soufflé was the highlight for her. Good wine list and the service was great. There's a lovely view over the golf course, which made me confirm that next trip I'll be bringing the clubs!"

  • "This was our 1st visit to Roys. Friendly & atmosphere was okay. Good service. We asked for a quiet place but it was a bit noisy. Ordered Filet Mignon steak, ribs, and some appetizers... comparably, I think we'll stick to Hy's. When my coke arrived, it was flat,... came back full of bubbles but very diluted and weak tasting so I felt someone just added club soda to it after I complained. With the tip we dropped around $165.00. Feel overall the place was way overpriced for the quality of food received. Picked Roy's initially to avoid the traffic going into Honolulu but braving the traffic may have been worth the headache! I will say that there appeared to be a lot of other happy eaters there enjoying themselves! Aloha, Fritz"

  • "Can't help but enjoy your meal when the food is delicious, the service outstanding, and the view great! With one friend ordering a crusted fish dish, and the other a braised ribs meal, I just couldn't decide. The solution? Order both with half of it boxed for "take home." I got to appreciate the great tasting food TWICE, and delight in the memories of a great afternoon with my friends! Oh! And did I mention the "gotta try" Painter's Color Pallet Desert? YUMMM! Not to be forgotten, our servers were absolutely the BEST! They were courteous, very helpful and oh so pleasant. My friends and I were looking for an affordable "get-away time." What we got was that and so much more!"

  • "The food at Roy's was absolutely amazing! My wife and I live in Phoenix, AZ and have a Roy's back home. It is one of our two favorite restaurants in Phx so we just had to try Roy's in Hawaii. We were not at all disappointed and found the food even better than back home. The butterfish is the best."

  • "I had high expectations for this place after it was recommended to us by the locals. The service was excellent and location was perfect if you are staying in Ko Olna - you can walk there. The food was very good but maybe my expectations were set a bit too high. It was a very good meal and maybe a must do if you are staying in the area but not my favorite in Oahu so far."

  • "I went for a lunch date with my husband and we went at 11am when Roy's opens. Best time !! We were the first ones there and had amazing service. The food was out quickly and so fresh. I loved it all. I have told everyone about it. I have already made plan with family members on the mainland to go when they come to visit."

  • "My husband and I have been to Roy's several times at both the Kahala and the Ko Olina locations. This is our special-occasion restaurant to celebrate our special events (anniversary, birthday, etc). We received an email on the summer BBQ prix fixe special and decided to try it. My husband had the lilikoi BBQ ribs and shrimp combo special. The BBQ ribs were exceptionally good, many deep and complex flavors. The guava shrimp were beautifully presented but tasted bland. The shrimp were sweet with the guava glaze but that was it. I had the braised short rib special which is always fantastic at Roy's. My husband had the peanut butter chocolate bars which he LOVED and says Roy's should put on the menu permanently!!"

  • "We just move here from D.C. As a Ko Olina residence we loved to support the businesses around our community. So made reservation to Roy's...loved the food (excellent) and the menu, however the service not what I expected. We had a server introduce himself as Chad took our order, then someone else came to bring our food. Then another server name Rose came and check on our food and we were left alone we have to constantly trying to find a server for refills. We saw our waiter Chad dedicated himself to one particular party that somewhat are friends with them. Rose did majority of the refills and taking our desert order. I feel that we were neglected and at the end guess who brought our check...Chad."

  • "Every time we visit the Aulani Resort on Oahu, we make a point of dining at Roy's at least twice during our stay. The food has always exceeded our expectations, the service is second to none, and the staff is always friendly. The kids choices are far above any other restaurant we have taken them to. It is truly refreshing to have non junk food that they truly love."

  • "We went with our kids - 17 and 19. We sat outside (near the bar) for golf course views and live Hawaiian music. It was the amazing experience we had hoped for. Our waiter, Chad, was very personable and attentive. The food was wonderful. The pace of the meal was unhurried. When we went inside to use the restrooms, we were so thankful that we had chosen to sit outdoors. It was very noisy and chaotic inside by comparison. We all loved the butterfish, the ahi appetizer and the ahi dinner (raw was better than seared), the filet mignon, and the chocolate souffles. Worth the splurge for a special night out."

  • "Food was awesome however service was a bit rushed. There is no lingering between courses! The butterfish was a hit at the table as was the tuna poke. And the dessert was to die for!,"

  • "As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a smile by the hostess. Services was great. Compliments to the Chef. Appetizers, Entree and their chocolate souffle was to die for. We will definately dine again."

  • "My husband just got here after a year in Korea. This is the first place I wanted to bring him for outstanding food and cocktails. Our dinner was so delicious from appetizer to dessert. The menu is pretty robust so our server made recommendations which were absolutely spot on. Lastly, they do my Hendricks martini right and it can't be beat. I love this restaurant."

  • "Having dined at this Roy's during previous visits to HI, we found the food to be very good as has always been the case. Our surprise came in the greatly improved service level. Past experiences had left a somewhat bitter taste in our mouths regarding customer service. Not this time!! The wait staff was warm, friendly and very attentive to our needs!! Kudos to the management and wait staff for raising the level of customer service to match their quality food!! We will certainly return to Roy's on our next visit!!"
