RoostDad's DadFor brunch off the menu - 2 of 3 over easy eggs too well cooked. Were not runny6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPimento Burger Excellent! The burger was cooked to perfection, sauced with pimento cheese and something like a sweet saurkraut, complimented with delicious very sweet potato fries. This is perhaps one of the best views downtown with the exception of High Cotton, Lazy Goat, and the new Passerelle Bistro.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Atmosphere and FoodRoost has a fantastic atmosphere and great food. Loved it. Also love the location - a great spot on North Main St. After dinner, stop in the lobby atrium for drinks - nice bar and couches.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeBeen to Roost several times, I love it! The food is fresh and delicious! I have not had a bad meal yet! The service is always excellent! Highly recommend you try it! They use fresh local ingredients! Everything is within a 200 mile radius. Because of this, the menu constantly is updated, but that's a good thing :)6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for Sunday brunch. We were there for Sunday brunch. Food overall was very good with a nice selection. We were not impressed with the omelets which we ordered. We liked the openness of the restaurant.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely seating areaThe food is fantastic and the open air seating is ideal! Our waitress, however, maybe she was distracted? The other tables didn't seem to have a problem with theirs.
We ordered 2 appetizers and an entree. All was delicious! I highly recommend the wings! And I highly recommend this restaurant!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFarm to TableWould recommend Roost to those who like a great seasonal meal! This is our third time there and have not been disappointed yet!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFun spot!We went to Roost for the first time last Thursday. We sat at a high top near the bar. Great spot on Thursday and Friday nights if you are interested in listening to live music. Keep in mind, the music is loud so don't plan to sit outside and have lots of conversation. It's a fun scene. The service was very good as was the food. We plan to go back.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWill keep coming back!Recently had breakfast there, and went back 2 days later for dinner. Both meals were excellent!! The breakfast buffet was great. Lots of choices. You could even have a custom made omlet with the buffet. Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive. Coffee was great too! For dinner the shrimp & grits are delish! Also had the spinach salad. Happy hour daily. The house Cab is very good too!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNeedless to say, the farm-to-tableNeedless to say, the farm-to-table food tastes fresh but it is also prepared well, - innovative, trendy and delicious. Our server was great, and the staff is well trained and pleasant. There is a New York vibe with down-home comfort.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!Great waitress, fantastic food, gorgeous decor, friendly and helpful staff! Can't wait to go again. And again!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Anniversary DinnerRomantic. Great food and service with a fantastic ambiance. We can't wait to go back.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience!Food was delicious and service was excellent. I look forward to my next visit!! Awesome atmosphere, great place to bring friends and family.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday BrunchI met some great friends from out of town for Sunday brunch. It was really easy for them to find and we had a great experience with the food and atmosphere. It was quiet enough so that we could catch up on years gone by without feeling intruded upon by other tables or the wait staff. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very friendly and effective. I will definitely go again and would like to try their menu items.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGood time with friendsGood food and great outside dining. I think prices were aligned with my expectations.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day brunchRoost is a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere. I have enjoyed lunch and dinner there previously and the food was delicious . Unfortunately, Mother's Day brunch was not good. There was a variety of choices but the food was just not up to Roost regular menu standards. I will go back but not for a buffet.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunchwonderful venue for special occasions. Recently celebrated Mother's Day there. Nice brunch set up. Food was great and selections were plentiful. Nice omelet station. Eat outside, weather permitting. Inside was loud. Would dine there again, but really a special occcasion or cocktails only place -- as far as I am concerned.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers Day BrunchWe had brunch at Roost on Mothers Day. The inside tables were not full, which was a surprise to me. In fact, we were, at one point, the only diners in our section. Service was okay. It was a buffet, but the server would still disappear for long stretches when a refill of tea was needed. There were omelet menus on the table to fill out and give to the server, but this was never explained to us and we discovered it by accident. The drink set up was a little weird - we had to go to the bar to get a mimosa instead of the server bringing it. The food was excellent, and there was a good variety. I would like to eat there again and sit outside.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunch was hecticI don't think this restaurant's floorplan lends itself to being a buffet brunch sort of place. There are way too many bottlenecks, and the staff are constantly coming and going through the main walkways serving their customers. Unfortunately, the main walkways are where you are standing or crossing to get to the food. It was extremely hectic, but I can understand that as they were ramping up for the mother's day crowd to hit. But, in general, the factors add up to it being a very non-relaxing experience at brunch. I like a more laid back experience at a brunch.
Now, the food was excellent, and I definitely intend to go back and check out their dinner menu, as the layout is more suited to a sit-down meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the oxymoronic atmosphereLoved the oxymoronic atmosphere - New York-style sophistication with a rustic, wholesome charm. The food was great, and everything tasted fresh. In our party, we had the halibut special and the pork chop - both excellent. Our server was very professional, personable, and attentive without being hovering.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday BreakfastGood breakfast at a fair price. Service was very good. Very much enjoyed the layout and feel of place.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, comfortabatmosphereDined at The Roost to celebrate a birthday and has a wonderful time!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were great. Food prep was quick and the staff attentive.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNew downtown Favorite!I don't think there is a restaurant downtown that can match the decor and atmosphere. The new spring menu is wonderful and our server was very attentive and personable. Some of my favorites are the Flounder BLT, Cobb Salad, Chicken Chili and the Lobster Flat Bread. They also have a great happy hour-7 days a week!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly WonderfulI was very impressed, I did not know what to expect when I made these reservations. I thought the restaurant was wonderful, the decor was awesome and I really liked how the tables were spaced apart. The bar area was nice however, it was very cramped and the bartender had a hard-time reaching around things to serve drinks. The food was great, we had the mussels and clams to start, they were awesome. We also ordered the Fungi pizza, there was nothing to special about it, it was way to cheesy. We were sad to hear that the market steak was sold out at 8:00pm, to bad. I really enjoyed the open kitchen and being able to see inside of the custom wine refrigerators, the ambiance was very elegant and modern. I will definitely return again soon.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome RoostThis is a fantastic addition to downtown Greenville. The layout, details, menu and staff were terrific.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. The Flounder BLT is a must. We will be back often.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome. A great additionAwesome. A great addition to the Greenville scene.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall the atmosphere andOverall the atmosphere and food were amazing. So many awesome choices to choose from. The only complaint was the food took an extremely long time to come out. Salads took 30 minutes to hit the table after ordering. Also we could never find our waitress to order more drinks , grab the checks etc. I will go back but only if I have nothing to do after and want to linger over dinner with friends.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful! This was my second Sunday brunch at Roost. My first visit was with neighbors. Second time was with out of town guests. They loved it. One of my guests said his omelet was the best he'd ever had. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. Love the Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar. The staff is friendly and extremely professional.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect addition to Main StRoost is our new spot to bring any friends visiting us in Greenville from the Northeast. It has southern charm in their dishes, and more importantly, a phenomenal choice of local produce and fare with their amazing Farm to Table concept. I would be amiss to not also mention they have an incredible wine and beer selection. But to really experience a great dish, I would stick to one of their cocktails, and showcase the amazing offerings from fields and farms nearby, and how truly great they can be when in the hands of well trained chefs.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Roost! I'm a localI love Roost! I'm a local foodie and this is one of the few places in town that cooks better than I do so it's a nice place to go before the theater or to take people who are visiting Greenville for the first time. The service is great! I've never had to wait very long for food, and eating at Roost has never made me late for an event later in the evening! I love that there is something new on the menu every time I eat at Roost!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery cool atmosphere and greatVery cool atmosphere and great food selection. Everything looked great.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great service.Good food, great service. Loved the shrimp and grits as well as the wide selection of craft beer!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMReally loved everything weReally loved everything we ordered. Salami flatbread, porkchop with delicious sides and a curry. Cheesecake is superb. Our server was attentive and efficient.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad so much fun and the foodHad so much fun and the food was great. We had a reservation, but weren't seated for almost an hour after. We didn't mind too much though because we were having fun at the bar. I just kept worrying that they forgot us! I had a lot of fun there and I know sometimes new restaurants have little kinks that need to be worked out, so I will definitely be back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest New Place in TownThe menu had something for everyone, from vegetarians to carnivores. The deserts deserve high praises. The bill for two with beer, tea, coffee and dinner was around $40. The best new restaurant in town. Will be back very soon.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat but No Pancakes or WafflesWent for Brunch with my kids (Wife and eldest daughter were out of town). Three of us got the Brunch Buffet and my daughter ordered the pancakes straight up. She would have gotten the buffet as well neither pancakes nor waffles are offered on the buffet and she really wanted the pancakes. All of the food was really good and our server Esther was very attentive and helpful
Overall it was a great experience. However, given the price of the buffet I was a little shocked that there were no syrup friendly items offered. There should be at least one such option whether it be pancakes, waffles or French toast.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Roost was outstanding! The food at Roost was outstanding! I had pasta carbonara and my husband had the pork shank. I tried his and it was delicious as well. I also tried a bite of the special that night which was the 16 ounce ribeye. It was cooked perfectly! After trying it, I wish I had ordered that instead.
We had a party of 8 with a reservation. We did have to wait for about 20 minutes after our reservation time. It was fine for our group because there were no kids, but could be a problem for others.
Great bar and patio! We will definitely be going back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique and LocalRoost definitely offers a unique dining experience. From an extensive and notable beer, wine, and cocktail menu to unique food combinations, this is a restaurant worthy of trying. Because the menu changes often, I cannot recommend a specific menu item, but try something new and you will not be disappointed!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were really looking forwardWe were really looking forward to trying Roost-several of our friends had already been since their recent opening and we were excited to see what all the buzz was about. I was very impressed with how the space had been transformed, very cool atmosphere and decor-casual but trendy. The food was very good, but nothing completely over the top great and the drinks were also very good-I really liked the variety found on the specialty cocktail and wine lists.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMRoost: A Greenville treasure.Roost came recommended by friends in SC who knew I would be coming from Atlanta to a week-end at the Hyatt. They had not tried it but heard you had opened. Now I will tell them they must try it themselves. The next time I am up I will surely come again. In fact I am planning to come for lunch before heading south after check-out today. You are a gem for Greenville!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTennessee Mudd muddyI was thrilled to go for the first time, mainly because of the article about the Tennessee Mudd desert. I am a desert fan and cook specializing in Cheese Cake. I wanted to try something different. The article made it sound and look like you only had to order one with several spoons. I was disappointed as well as embarrassed when served. I had told my group about the desert. The container was a small jelly jar, it was dry and didn't have all ingredients that were listed. (OREO was missing). The group ordered other deserts after tasting. The flounder special was created to perfection. The groups entrees were all great.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been several times andI've been several times and have never been disappointed. The brunch is worth traveling to get to. My favorite brunch buffet ever. Wonderful mimosa and bloody Mary bay at brunch as well. For dinner I've had the yard bird and dumplings which are a unique spin on a regional favorite as well as the fish special which I never wanted to end. My boyfriend had the bucco, done perfectly. I love everything about this place.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCollen gave us great service!!Collen gave us great service!! The food was great as usual. Can't wait to try the spring menu!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe entree food and portionThe entree food and portion size was great, but you do have to order sides separate - menu selection is limited to one page so hopefully this will grow with time - Had the hot brie chili fondu appetizer, and while it was good, it was not great. Had the pork shank bucco, which was very good, however had I not asked the waiter about the sides for this dish, I woud have been dissapointed as it only comes with baked apples, so I added the smoked bacon and potato gratin - perfect! My wife had the "special" flounder which we found out to be $24 which topped out over my entree and added side item. She enjoyed the meal.
Want to visit the Roost again as the atmosphere was hip but prefer to wait until the menu has gained some more variety.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMust tryI thought it was great. Twice! Interesting cocktail menu.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Brunch with the FamThe Roost was a great find, my wife and I had both sides of the family in town and I was done with cooking. The service was prompt and kid friendly, which was big because our small stroller was broke so we were lugging around our jogging stroller and the restaurant had no problem with storage so we could have a nice clutter free table. These are very important things to know because you will be getting up and down to head to Sunday brunch buffet the food was great and so was the mimosa bar.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSt. Patty's EveFour of us ordered different meals and split two appetizers, all wee excellent. Server suggested wine pairings two of us. Will be a regular dining place for us.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy date and I really enjoyedMy date and I really enjoyed Roost! The food was amazing, well-presented and portioned perfectly. Roost Julep and Strawberry Fields from the cocktail menu are awesome. You can't beat the ambiance and overall decor - very clean lines, lots of light wood and shiny metallic surfaces. We would have loved to sit outside, but those seats are first come, first serve and that area plus the bar was packed. We even liked the music being played - 70's soft-rock vibe! Service was a little slow, especially in getting our first drinks, but nothing that would make me not come back. Lots of intimate seating for large groups (not like tables having to be pulled together), which I think is a major plus for a downtown restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
