Everything virtually melted in your mouth with such a vibrant explosion of flavors it was mind blowing. The drink selection was impeccable with service that rivals anything you have experienced - the manager even visited with us three times through the experience. Can't say enough about this restaurant."

They have really unique and sophisticated takes on the food so trying new things doesn't take a particularly adventurous pallet."

  • "Everything we had here was great it started off with the heirloom Beets which was a nice surprise since we though it was some fish when it first came out. The second dish was Butterfish Tataki that was also amazing. Next was the sushi portion assorted sashimi with blue fin tuna roll both of these melt in your mouth. Then we got the Corn on a cob with some curry sauce and Alaskan King crab cooked over coal with some butter it was amazing. Then came this mushroom miso soup which was good. Next they brought us a strawberry sorbet with tequila to cleanse out palate before we ate the main. Which was the Waygu beef with chinese broccoli and a truffles and rice dish this was also amazing. The dessert was last and way to much."

  • "I live in NYC and I kept hearing about San Francisco's great dining scene. So far wasn't really impressed. But Roka Akor is different . Lovely food, interesting dishes. Not self important about the ingredients thank goodness. Tables nicely spaced and noise level reasonable so you can actually talk to the people you came out to dinner with. And I could eat a whole bowl of the soy butter grilled corn!"

  • "The food here is great! The ingredients are top quality and prepared just as they should be. Some of my favorites are the miso cod, wagyu steak, tiger prawns, grilled scallops, grilled corn, all varieties of sashimi. There hasn't been a dessert I haven't liked. Service can be slow but otherwise a great place for a special occasion dinner or a relaxing lunch."

  • "Purposely celebrated Valentine's Day early just to get the Decadent Omakase. Instead they felt like serving the Valentine's Day menu early to try it out. It's the same price but LESS food. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have come and waste my time and money. The regular decadent omakase serves a large sashimi platter and large dessert platter. All we got was a tiny sashimi cake with tiny peices of sashimi. Dessert was sad- small chocolate cake with ice cream. Such an upsetting Valentine's Day dinner! Money wasted!"

Had grilled beef fillet, grilled pork belly, and grilled black cod, all are cooked just right, tender and juicy. Best robata I've had yet! Very disappointed on the flavor infused liquor cocktails."

  • "Our first time at Roka Akor was fantastic! We dined on a busy Saturday night with 3 couples. From the moment we sat down we knew we were in for something special. Our wonderful waitress immediately assisted us with our cocktails order and we were off and running. Over the next 3 hours we enjoyed some of the most amazing tastes and flavor imaginable. The fish was so fresh and everything we ordered (all from the suggestion of our server) were equally outstanding. We cannot wait till our next return visit very soon!"

  • "The dine about town menu for lunch was very good. To start, I had the yellow tail sashimi followed by the diced assorted sashimi on a bed of sushi rice. My 2 good friends, Steve and Dale each had the beets salad and also the yellow tail sashimi and for their main entree, both had the ribs. It was very good as I had a taste of it. We will definitely go back there to try out their dinner."

  • "My wife and I came here during Dine About Town, and we chose our meal from the prix fixe menu. We started with the butterfish tataki, which was perfectly seasoned and wrapped around asparagus so as not to mask the flavor of the vegetable. We also had a tuna roll which was delicious, but not too unique. For the main course, we both chose the black cod which was out of this world. We could have eaten 10 of these, although 1 was plenty of a serving. Sweet, juicy, and addictive. For dessert, we split the fruit pavlova and chocolate cake, both of which were perfectly delightful. Great ambience and superb service. Pricey, but wonderful."

  • "This place is AMAZING! The food is outstanding! My friend and I tried the Dine About Town menu and the sashimi assortment. We were not sorry! Food came prepared beautifully, did not have to wait long for the food prep. But getting our bill did take about 20 minutes, not sure why. I would come back for special celebrations or if you want to treat yourself to someplace very special. Their bar is one to remember."

  • "We had a 7:15 reservation with one in our party needing to get to a red-eye flight to the east coast. There were empty tables but we were sent to the bar to wait for almost 30 minutes (the most obvious attempt to get us to spend money in the bar I have seen in a while). Once seated it took 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine and almost an hour to get sashimi starters and several rolls for dinner - not a complicated order or anything that needed to be cooked. The dining room was so loud (made worse by the constant yelling of the kitchen team) we had to yell at each other. The food was really good, but I can't recommend this place unless you have a long time and don't mind deafening noise during dinner."

  • "If you buy a glass of sake downstairs at the bar you get it in a wine glass. The exact same sake is available in a glass or carafe for dinner. I asked the server how many glasses the carafe was, holding up my glass from the bar, and he informed me it was approximately 4. Then he brings out little shot glasses with the carafe and its 4 of those! Which was MAYBE 2 glasses worth of what I got downstairs, but I paid for 3.5 glasses. HUGE RIP OFF. And the service was aggressive to take your order and then the food took forever. However, once the food finally came out, it was absolutely delicious! Props to the chefs!!!"

  • "I had high hopes for Roka Akor and very happy they were met. My guest and I chose the selections on the Dine about town menu. This menu happened to have the dishes recommended by friends and bar guests. The menu was a great deal price wise, portions generous and our server was one of the most attentive, pleasant and professional servers I have had in any dining experience. Down side is the décor in the bar. Doesn't match the look or feel of the main area. Also service was poor. In over 30mins I was greeted when initially sitting down. It wasn't notice that our app didn't make it to our table until we brought it to light. Definitely didn't come off as a season professional. Our server at dinner made up for it though!! Thank you!"

  • "My husband had dined here before and we went again with my two adult sons. The seating was not ideal as the space was very tight. After we were seated, no server came to greet us for about 15-20 minutes. We finally asked a bus boy for our server, and it took another few minutes for her to appear. During the course of the dinner, we had to use the bus boy to get our server as she was too busy to be found. We even had to ask the buy boy to take our payment after waited a long time for the server. I don't expect this experience at a restaurant like Roka Akor so I gave a 3 star for that. The food was good but not exceptional. The overall experience was fair and it is not a place that I will return to or recommend to others."

  • "top of the line sushi. i loved everything i had expect for the sliders that they forgot to bring. service was very slow for 1. being lunch service and 2. for only ordering one dish that actually needed to be cooked. if you're on a business account i would recommend. pretty expensive to pay on your own unless money is no object. a lot more affordable sushi in SF. good for a special occasion."

  • "My best friend took me here and we did the omakase and it was AMAZING!! Amazing isn't the only word but if you have the means, DO IT!! My mom asked me for a memorable place to take some family that was visiting and so I brought them here. It's currently Dine About Town, which is the menu some of us chose, but since I've been here before I through in some favorites. There isn't anything bad here so good luck."
