  • "No longer an open table restaurant no points awarded food was so so"

  • "Made reservation for what I had planned as a nice quiet birthday dinner for my mom. Anything but quiet as the tables were too close and we were seated between a group with 3 kids and a squealing baby with one child stretched out on the bench seat so close her feet were on me. the other side two ladies which I can tell you their whole conversation. Asked for a different table and was declined. Too expensive for that!!!"

  • "I took the bride to be and all the bridesmaids here for dinner. Beautiful, clean restaurant right on the Savannah River. Service was speedy and the food was good. I personally had the crab cakes. Good flavor. I highly recommend the corn bread appetizer. Delicious!"

  • "Restaurant opens onto River Street by many retractable doors, making it almost outside. There is a row of tables set back (quieter) which can shield you from this if you prefer, but the main area is almost a sidewalk café. Very attentive service. Inventive menu and large portions. Every course was well prepared. Limited wine selections, but broad enough to have almost all varieties you might want and credible vineyards; not much in premium varieties. I would go for fun meal or casual dining or new taste treats. The dishes are somewhat unique, e.g., chicken and waffles."

  • "We had a fabulous meal and great service. I had the spaetzle and chicken, amazing entrée. Would absolutely return. A ;ittle disappointed with our lack of a view of the water despite having reservations, but we enjoyed watching the cooks."

  • "Visiting Savannah from out of town and thought this place was great. If you don't have a reservation you can leave your name and go explore the river front and they will text you to come return to the restaurant to grab your table. Food was great, staff was very accommodating when I requested they turn the tv on to the baseball game they went out of their way to meet this request. Great view of the riverfront. All around great dining experience."

  • "We requested a booth but on our arrival we were told we could not have one because they had a lot of reservations for larger parties, we were a party of 2. There were several booths empty and they stayed empty the entire time that we dined. In the past our request has always been honored, as we like the booths in the bar area, but not this time and a booth in the bar area did stay available the entire time that we were there. We visited Savannah last July for a week and dined there 3 times for dinner. We will not dine at this restaurant again on our next visit."

  • "Went here for my Dad's 77th birthday. Our service was great, and the ambiance is pretty good. Smell of smokers outside coming in through the open doors to the outside is somewhat off putting - and we were 4 tables in from the outside wall. Meal was very tasty, but the filet/cab cake combo was undercooked. had to send the steak back - it was Med Rare, not medium and crab cake was just slightly warm. They recooked the steak and comped that item, so tried to do their best to make up for it, but it would have been better if it hadn't happened at all. The birthday dessert is a sight to behold and was very tasty (chocolate lava cake)."

  • "We were in Savannah for one night and this wasn't actually even our first choice of where to eat, but it turned out to be perfect. Restaurant was super accommodating-kept our car seat while we walked around River street before dinner. Our server 'Nick' definitely made the night. He was knowledgable, funny, and made sure we were happy with our experience. Food was pretty good. Shrimp and grits were good but very saucy-grits got a little buried under all that flavor and there is no break for the palate."

  • "We made reservations and were on time. Only 4 tables were busy so no need for reservations and we were sat immediately. Unfortunately, that's where it ended. Once we were sat it was over 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. We finally were approached and got our drink order taken - sweet t and a glass of wine. Sweet T was quick - wine was another 10 minutes. My wife wanted the special of the evening - server came back several minutes later and informed us they were out. Needless to say, it ended there. We got our check - Yes another 10 minutes and left. We went to the roof and had a great evening - limited menu but great service and excellent service."

  • "We came back with the missing two grandchildren and two great grandsons for our family reunion. Last time was November of 2012 during Savannah Rock and Roll Marathon. Wonderful then and simply wonderful this time as well! Loved the food!"

  • "Roof bar fab. Dining room very loud, we had no view and food was cold and poorly served."

  • "We stopped here after picking up a relative from the Savannah Airport. Since she was from California we wanted her to try some southern specialties... the waiter was Super...he even brought her a small amount of cheesy grits to try before ordering. Everything was delicious and the menu had something for everyone on it. Delicious she-crab soup!"

  • "Rocks on River has terrific food, good service and a hopping bar, but the restaurant itself is beset by a severe case of dual identity, with parts of the dining room portraying its desire to be cool and upscale while the majority of the space can be best described as Friday's with a more expensive menu. Cheap tables, a poor layout and garage doors that swing upwards like a Wild Wings Cafe detract from the atmosphere and will ruin an otherwise nearly perfect dining experience. Whoever designed the room should be made to eat in it, at a table close to the bar, with the doors open to the sound and smells of River Street in order to convince him or her that they should never, ever, do that again."

  • "We arrived at the restaurant at 7.50pm. We were sat at our table and it was another 20 mins before a server approached us for drinks. After another 10 mins the drinks arrived, 2 chocolate milks and 2 waters. Not difficult.... We ordered food and it eventually arrived but was missing a pizza. It took another 25 minutes for the pizza to arrive by which time we had lost our appetite for it."

  • "We have dined at Rocks on the River 5-6 times over the past three years. This time was just okay. The Spatzli & Chicken was tasty, as was the Osso Bucco. The veal was dry and chewy, despite the good flavor. Also, the fried green tomato appetizer, which was spectacular in previous years, wasn't very good (new breading? goat cheese?). Cocktails and beer selection still very well done, and it is a great environment in which to dine. Maybe the brunch experience is still outstanding, but dinner is just okay."

  • "The fish and chips were very greasy and batter without flavor."

  • "This wasn't the first time I had been to this restaurant, but it was the first time for brunch. We were able to make reservations with only a few days notice. The food is always great and our waitress was amazing. She was very attentive and professional and very courteous. The food was amazing. I had the Crab Oscar and it was so good! The noise level in the restaurant was not bad at all, and this was on St. Patrick's Day weekend! Would definitely recommend this to anyone! Great place for a date, and then you can move upstairs to the rooftop bar for a great atmophere and really good drinks!"

  • "This was a great place for brunch and the food was the best of the weekend."

  • "Busy place, but food was very good. Make a reservation"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "The noise level was so high it was hard to order or hear my husband across the table. It was stressful not relaxing. The small salad was good, but the balsamic vinaigrette dressing was too thick and sweet. The small filet was cooked as requested but the quality of the meat was mediocre. The service was good. I would classify this place as a step up from fast food, but certainly not a "dining experience.""

  • "The service was very slow--waited a very long time for our coffee and our food"

  • "Not as upscale as expected within Bohemian Hotel. Open to River Street with good views. Good service. Food good but not great. Views even better at roof top bar."

  • "After a so-so dinner for $100plus, we were in search of Something a little more reasonable but yummy. I really enjoyed the Spazli chicken while watching people Stream by on the Riverfront. The Bohemian Hotel is beautiful And the restaurant was a nice experience."

  • "We started on the roof for an aperitif, then it was down to the ground floor for dinner. Both rooms were very noisy but stylish and chic. Good wine list (I'm a sommelier, and good wine lists in Savannah are rare). We ordered from the restaurant week menu, and the food was well prepared and generously proportioned for the price. Service was attentive at the beginning but got overwhelmed as the room became busy, but overall above average."

  • "Ate here with my husband recently, because they extended their restaurant week menu for the entire month of February. There were many choices and I could have eaten 4 meals here, with varying combinations. Husband had lobster mac n' cheese (very good), I had beet salad (also good). Both of us had the salmon….the sauce was good although salty. My fish was not cooked through, but still edible. Overall a good dish with the risotto. The desserts were really good and generous in portion (peach cobbler and lava cake). The wine menu has a good variety and they bring a taste first, which I like (one of them was bad so we got a replacement no problem). Will certainly come back."

  • "My wife and I were traveling in from out of town on Valentine's day and ran into I-95 being shut down. This made us making our reservation for dinner impossible, upon calling the restaurant to inform them that we were not going to make it, I asked if they were any open times for later that night? I was speaking with Amanda and at first she was not confident due to the date, but ensured me she would due her best, after a very short time, she was able to squeeze us in 1 hour after our orginal reservation. This saved my Valentine's day since I had been talking about the restaurant for a few weeks with my wife about where we were going on that special day."

  • "This restaurant is excellent for a fun and romantic night out. While it would have been nicer if it was not Saturday night, the restaurant was clean, well staffed, food was good, and service was excellent. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Savannah."

  • "Went to Savannah over Valentine's (weekend), and got a great table at the window with my wife. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was outstanding, and my wife LOVED her seafood trio plate, as did I my combo plate including dessert!"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We had our Valentine dinner a day late and booked kind of late, so this was our second choice initially, but it turned out to be serendipitous - we loved it. Especially good service, great food, broad enough menu to be helpful without being overwhelming, good specialty drinks and old standards, fun bar scene. Only complaints: The decor does not absorb noise well and a few groups were particularly loud (you know the sudden, periodic laughter of the over-served ladies?). We would definitely go back."

  • "My partner and I had recently visited Savannah. As we were staying at the hotel we may reservations for dinner since it was inside the hotel. We were seating immediately, our waitress immediately greeted us and was one of the best servers we have ever had. Excellent service and Excellent food."

  • "The food was pretty good but for a 200 dinner the noise was way extremely loud in restaurant"

  • "My serious foodie friend from LA and I had the BEST mussels ever. Delicious spicy garlic tomato sauce and wonderfully large and fresh mussels. The waiter said that almost everyone has the same opinion!"

  • "We dined at Rocks on the River as part of the restaurant week promotion. Our meals were delicious. The choices we had were all so tempting, it was hard to make a decision. The wine pairings were perfect. The atmosphere was warm, inviting and fun."

  • "We live in Savannah but this was our first time dining here. There is a good selection of courses for the restaurant week menu. I had the lobster mac and cheese, pan fried tenderloin and cheesecake. My husband had the chicken and waffles, cheese grits and shrimp and the hot chocolate lava cake. All were excellent and portions were large. We noticed that many of the dishes we ordered are in the everyday menu; except the lobster mac and cheese. Service was great. There were a couple issues; there were only 5 tables being served but the noise level was high! I imagine with a full house the noise level may be intolerable. The food was a bit cool. Overall it was a great meal and we will go back."

  • "This has become my GO-TO restaurant when I have company coming in to visit me in Savannah. It's southern delicious, without feeling like a tourist trap. It's warm and comfortable, but with modern cool design. I've tried just about everything on the menu and you will NOT be disappointed! Service is always on point - but I always recommend asking for Liz; she's a superstar!"
