Diner Reviews
  • "The steak was amazing! A little noisy but very nice."

  • "If you are visiting Austin, this is a great place for a business lunch in the Arboretum area."

  • "I took my husband for his birthday dinner. It was our first time at the restaurant and we were so very happy from beginning to end! The server was so very friendly and attentive. The runner was very professional and showed a friendly disposition. We really wanted to sit outside but the inside sitting was not a let down. The view was still more than visible and very romantic. The food was delicious and the birthday dessert made my husband feel very special! This is a must try if you haven't already. We will be back very soon!"

  • "Great place to take company when they are visiting from out of town."

  • "Had perhaps one of the best double cut porkchops I've ever. Excellent. Thank you."

  • "The food is wonderful and service even better. Fred is a gem and has taken great care of us on several visits. One of the highlights to visiting Austin!"

  • "We have been here many times. Took good friends who just moved to Austin - Disappointed and embarrassed. Food, wine etc. good BUT service left a lot to be desired. Our server Fred seemed to have an attitude right after we ordered - perhaps salads and higher priced items with 8 glasses of wine for 4 was not enough for him. He basically ignored us - we ordered extra vegetable sides that took forever to come out and Fred was nowhere to be seen."

  • "As always, the food was great. I just wanted to comment on my noise rating. If you dine inside, Roaring Fork is loud to the point that conversation is hard for me. We had a beautiful night, so we were seated outside, and it was pleasantly quiet."

  • "It starts with Chris Peck GM and Joshua Smith Mgr. Their vision and leadership create 5 ☆ Restaurant in Arboretum area of Austin. Their smoky meat and seasoning is tops. You must go. They made my anniversary so very special and my wife took the experience and made good love happen that evening :)"

  • "I had no idea this place sat off of Braker Lane, hidden amongst the trees, by a lake. The food is just incredible, from the salad to the entre and to the dessert. All of it was just amazing. I would recommend it, highly, to all who want a unique dining experience."

  • "Roaring Fork doesn't disappoint in the food selections. Pork tenderloin is amazing, and the fish dishes were spot on. The green chili mac and cheese is a "must have"! Great place to go for a casual night out. Be sure to ask waiter person the prices on the specials. Were a little surprised that the fish special was $32...priced a little higher than expected, but it tasted great."

  • "Would recommend to anyone looking for great food and great service. Drinks weremade perfect and all the steaks were cooked to our parties liking! We all left stuffed and happy"

  • "Our group of four arrived about a quarter hour earlier than the time reserved. That was met with great aplomb and we were placed at a table overlooking the lake. The ambiance was delightful allowing us quiet conversation without competition from fang and claw. One of our group, however, had earlier reviewed the Brunch Menu on the restaurant's web site only to sadly learn it only pertained to Sunday service. He was quite pleased with the pastrami dip sandwich and creme bruelee he consumed with gusto."

  • "Thoughly enjoyed the experience at Roaring Fork, the food was excellent, my husbands Rainbow Trout was excellent and my steak was very good but did have to send it back as it wasn't cooked correctly the first time but the taste was great and they got it back to the table reasonably quickly and the manager brought it back which I thought was a nice touch. The ambiance was nice and service was good."

  • "I was excited to find a restaurant like this in northwest Austin. You walk in and you see the kitchen working and then you're taken to your table and you're watching the sun set over the quarry. I really had a good time at dinner finally alone with my wife. She loved her striped bass, but I was there for a steak. I appreciate everything about red meat and I like every restaurant that these guys do - Hopdoddy is still the favorite. The service was okay the ambience was great, but my medium ribeye was a piece of charcoal like they couldn't cook it fast enough over the hottest part of the wood fire, and my Mac and Cheese was dusty like they prepare a whole batch before hand throw some bread crumbs on it heat it up and send it out. Disappointed"

  • "Someone needs to show RF how to make a salad! Very Disappointing."

  • "While it was too cold and overcast to really appreciate the lake ambience the restaurant gave great vibe. The food was wonderful. One of my friends ordered two dishes just to try them both. We had Sunday brunch and it was really excellent food. The service was good, our waiter was very personable and patient with us when we kept talking and not ordering. A great restaurant, I can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu."

  • "We had the wood fired steaks. Delicious! Service by Brendan was excellent! and a bottle of wine. Will go back again."

  • "Food was stellar. Service was poor. Our server was rushed and seemed a bit bothered when we asked him to repeat the specials because of the noise level."

  • "Found this to be a "gem" tucked away on small man-made lake, which made for very pretty view during lunch; energetic lunch crowd but I made a reservation and they had our table waiting for us in the full dining room. Nice surprise ! The food did not disappoint, had a wonderful spinach, chicken waldorf salad, lightly dressed ... delicious. Good service too."

  • "I found the place a bit noisy. In retrospect a table near the window would have been better. We both moved to the corner of the table in order to have a conversation without raising our voices. I also found the restaurant really dark. Almost put on the flashlight from my phone to read the menu. LOL. The food was very good and the waiter attentive. But because of the noise level I have to think about returning."

  • "The food was tasty and well portioned. The atmosphere was very calm and romantic. Our waiter was pretentious and cold and condescending. I don't think my husband and I will be back."

  • "Very good, local restaurant. Nice atmosphere, and not too noisy. Wait staff is always attentive. Menu offers nice variety, though it does seem to have more fish/seafood offerings than beef, pork, or chicken."

  • "We enjoyed everything about it except the rather expensive price."

  • "Sat at booth by kitchen. Very cold at 530p. Loved the rhubarb desert idea but it was way too much crust and really felt tiny for the cost. Loved the Amy's Mexican vanilla it was served with! Server was very knowledgeable of cocktail suggestions which was wonderful."

  • "Wonderful ambience, great service, and incredible food! Best wood-fire steak in town and their grilled shrimp are well worth the amount of the course!"

  • "Great food! The only thing I had to complain about was that our reservation was at 7:45 and we had to wait for a table for about 10minutes. Other than that the food, service, and atmosphere was fantastic!"

  • "I truly enjoyed the ambience of this place. Despite the other tables around you you can get lost in your own little space. You can easily have a conversation without feeling drowned out by others. The lighting invokes romance."

  • "Had a reservation for 8 and was seated immediately. There were several large groups in the dining room and this made the noise level pretty high but as the groups cleared out, it was the perfect atmosphere. The food was delicious and the selection was great. I would definitely like to go back again in the spring or summer when we could dine outdoors."

  • "GREAT dinner, as usual. Food was perfect, ambiance was on key... very relaxed, comfortable."

  • "The salad was a joke for $8. A small amount of lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes, a little blue cheese dressing, and a few crumbles of bacon. The main course was good, but very pricey for what it included. The small side dish of squash puree was all smoke and no taste. The wine was $13 a glass for average wine. It was so cold inside that we had to wear our coats while we ate. I don't think we'll be back for dinner."

  • "Nice quiet atmosphere on this Super Bowl night contributed to a very delighful experience with my wife. We shared the mixed green salad which was fresh and delicious. The rolls brought to the table before the meal were warm and especially delicious on this trip. We chose the salmon entree as well as one of the daily specials, sea bass, and both were well-prepared, well-presented, and definitely delicious. The vegetable medley and rice with cabbage that accompanied the fish were all delicious. Wait staff were friendly and very attentive. A very wonderful experience from beginning to end. Look forward to next trip on Valentines."
