Diner Reviews
  • "I recently decided to dine at the ChopHouse with my wife in celebration of our 30th anniversary. While aware of your establishment for several years I never visited for dinner. What a mistake. Everything was five star. The steak was the best I've had in a long time and my wife absolutely loved the Lobster mac and cheese. Our server (I was told she was the senior server) was absolutely a delight and added to the pleasure of our evening. We will definitely be repeat customers."

  • "Heard good things and decided to give it try for our anniversary. 7:00 on a fairly slow Saturday. Kitchen was really slow, meal took 2.5 hrs. For the price you pa, $40+, per plate you expect exceptional food, ours was average, and service at a comfortable pace, waitress was good, kitchen was slow. There were only 4 or 5 tables of other people."

  • "very professional, the ambiance was neat, sober but pleasant. Their choice of meat is great and the way it is presented is original. Their sides are not usual and tasty."

  • "Consistency is the name of the game at Riverstone Chophouse… My husband and I always receive excellent service, and delicious food paired with amazing wine! If you have a question about something on the menu or would like an alternative preparation they are always eager to please… we always request Charlie to take care of us, and he makes sure that we leave fully satisfied and anxious to come back to try something new the next time!"

  • "First of all, our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Unfortunately we were seated near the computer where the servers congregate to enter orders and discuss the guests. I heard plenty of complaints about small tips and even a debate on which type of doctor is the hottest. I had the New York which was backyard grill material at best. My wife had the shrimp which she said was very good. This restaurant is run by the same people as Vintage Tavern but VT is so much better."

  • "This was my first time attending the restaurant, but I loved every bit of what it had to offer. The service, perfect! The food, perfect! I will be coming back again."

  • "Keeps getting better--Food quality was absolutely superb"

  • "Thought I'd try the House Special, the 22oz aged ribeye. Although it was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, the flavor and texture just wasn't up to par for a steak dry aged for 20 days with a $47 price tag."

  • "I have eaten better shrimp, I felt as though they where over cooked. The Gelato served was just ice cream, to say the least I was very disappointed. I have eaten there before and very impressed, not this time. Sorry"

  • "I brought my boyfriend here for a nice romantic night out & this place couldn't have been more perfect. Hope was our waitress and she was FANTASTIC. She was extremely knowledgeable of the items on the dining menu and wine list. She made us feel very welcome and was eager to answer any questions we had. We ordered a bottle of the Neyers Chardonnay (definitely recommended) and our food was prepared perfectly. We will most definitely be back!"

  • "We dined at River Stone Chophouse on 6 March 2014 and had a delightful experience! We started with a half dozen of raw Blue Points, which are served with the usual accoutrements and water crackers. My entree consisted of crab cakes, which were delicious and had no fillers, but I was not a fan of the mustard tartar sauce (too sharp). Smashed potatoes were wonderful and buttery (the a la carte side portions are large). Order the flourless torte dish for dessert, which is like 3 desserts in one (torte, gelato, and mousse). Requests for specific seating are sometimes accommodated - I recommend the center pod seating facing the fireplace if you are out for a special night. Thank you River Stone Chophouse!"

  • "Absolutely wonderful! The service was impeccable, and the food was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, or just as a nice place to get away to and be treated with quality service."

  • "This was our first time at River Stone, via gift card. We were cheerfully greeted, sat at wonderful seat for two, informed of the choices of entrees, drinks, etc. What we enjoyed most was the attentiveness of staff, and the no rush feeling. However, we must say Hope was very knowledgeable and fun. The Amaretto cheesecake was to die for! Thank you bakery chef for making! Lastly, we will definely be back and refer you to others. Thank you for our dining enjoyment."

  • "THE best dining experience, EVER! From the server to the chef, to the interaction with the General Manager. Great display of teamwork."

  • "Signature ribeye steak was not as great a cut as I expected -- nothing specific, just wasn't impressed, particularly for the price."

  • "This was our first visit to the River Stone Chophouse, and can assure you there will be more visits in the future. The food was outstanding, prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. I can't say enough about the wait staff. Our waiter (David) greeted us by name, explained everything with knowledgeable detail, and attended to our every need. Although he was busy tended to others, we never felt our needs weren't tended to. We will definitely visit again."

  • "River Stone is wonderful. My wife and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary here and it was great. The food is spectacular and the service is beyond exceptional. It is everything you would expect from a high end restaurant without the national chain feel. Why go to a national chain steak house when you can go to River Stone."

  • "Started out a little rocky, but mad a major comeback! Had reservations for 8, but did not get seated until around 830. After we were seated though; the evening turned into a gem! The waiter and the hostess were attentive, and the food was outstanding! We asked the waiter for his opinion on wine pairing and he was spot on with his recommendation. My wife who does not drink often, was even impressed with the taste of the food with the wine. Overall great night out and fabulous service."

  • "We were dissapointed - had expected an exceptional meal and got a mediocre one. I've truly had tastier and more tender ribeyes at Outback - and that's supposed to be your signature steak. By the way I had it medium rare so the diminished taste and tenderness was not due to overcooking. My husband's seafood brochette was fine but not great. The little hors d' oeuvres that we were given as a complimentary treat were quite tasty as was the bread which we were served - but we would have loved to be offered a couple more pieces of bread. The sides were as expected - hard to mess up a caesar salad and a baked potato! The dessert was tasty."

  • "This has been our favorite place for special occasions, however it seems there is a difference in the food since our last visit. I would say it wasn't noteable. For the prices, the food should be exceptional. Will consider another favorite place."

  • "We went to the Chophouse for Valentine's Day. Initially, Charlie, referred to us as Mr. and Mrs. Stallings. I thought, that's cool they call you by name from the reservation. But, that was not the case. Apparently, we looked liked someone else. So, I corrected him. But on three other occasions, he still kept referring to us as the Stallings. We both had steaks and they were average at best. I had the ribeye. 22 oz., it was not!!! I wanted it prepared medium-rare. The waiter suggested that they do it "Pittsburgh" style. I went along and do not suggest you do this. Very charred and the charred taste became very unpleasant after about 5-6 bites. I am from Nebraska and know well what a great steakhouse is....this is not!!!"

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday and we both loved the restaurant. Great food, but most of all EXCELLENT service. Our waitor, Thomas, was by far one of the best waitors I have ever had. He was attentive, and very knowledgible of the food/drink selections of the restaurant. I would come back any day!!"

  • "This was our first visit to dine at Riverstone and it was amazing. We had visited before regarding options for our wedding reception but, we didn't dine that evening. I thought it would be a great place to surprise my husband for his birthday and for sure the overall service and food made him speechless. Especially, by him being a chef! We will be returning!"

  • "First visit to the Chophouse and it was absolutely delightful! I would not have thought to rate noise level until I saw it listed under rate your experience. Although every table around us was filled, there was no noise to speak of. The ambience was excellent, we had fireplace behind us. The food was absolutely delicious. Be careful ordering side dishes, because portion are large enough to feed 2 or 3 people. I had the Aged Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection, best steak I've had eating out. My wife had Crab Cake which she thought was wonderful as well. Going back for Suffolk Restaurant week. In order for your experience to be as good as ours, you must ask for Thomas. There can not possibly be a better waiter anywhere!!"

  • "I would be surprised if you could find a better all around package in the area. The food is as great as you want/hope it to be, and the building itself makes it that much better. The only complaint we had was there was slight draft by the table we were sitting at. We were served some complimentary fried cheese, bacon, pepper balls...they are TO DIE FOR! If this was added to the menu as an appetizer, I would go back just for them!"

  • "Great food and service. We had a reservation, but we were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. That was a problem"

  • "Customer service was amazing. Great wine and beer list. Beautiful restaurant. Reservation recommended, otherwise there may be a wait. You can dress it up or dress down (to a certain extent-business casual)."

  • "My husband were given a gift card for the River Stone Chophouse and decided to use it for our anniversary. We were very impressed with the service, the beautiful decor and the entire atmosphere in the restaurant. It was a cold, January night and there was a big fireplace with nice fire burning. The menu selections were good, from appetizers to salads, to entrees and side dishes. They had 2 specials that came with side dishes but all the entrees on the menu were ala carte. Entrees range in price from $30 - $50 and include seafood, chicken, duck and beef. We don't mind paying more for exceptional food, but this just wasn't exceptional food. It was good, but not good enough to support the prices."

  • "Our visit was for a family get together, and we all enjoyed our food and wine, the service, and ambiance of the restaurant. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion or quiet dinner out."

  • "The food was really great. The room was cold that night but the outside temperature was very cold. Our waitress was knowledgable but I felt the service was very slow. If I had somewhere else to be that night I am not sure I would have made it. This was my first time and would like to return but would know to allow at least 3 hours for dinner."

  • "Arrived right at 11:30 for brunch and we were seated shortly thereafter. My wife and I have eaten there several times and we brought two neighbor couples who were "newbies". Our server Dave didn't rush us and when we were ready to order, he was there. Two of us enjoyed the Bloody Mary Bar, which was great, and the rest had cappuccino, tea, or soda. All in all, only a few minor somewhat negative comments... The cappuccinos and tea weren't really hot, Dave forgot to bring the requested milk for the tea until it was all but gone, and some of the food, although warm, seemed like it may have sat at the pass for a while waiting for the rest of the table. Food was still great and the other couples said they would return, and of course so will we."

  • "Overpriced for the food that was only okay.....for the price we paid we expected a super delicious meal....husband had duck that was good and I had the beef filet that was very dry"

  • "I've eaten on special occassions many times at this restuarant. It has never disappointed me and a few times has amazed me with some totally new and gifted vegetable presentation or dessert. They hire and keep top notch wait staff and kitchen staff. I hope they last forever."

  • "My husband and I absolutely love dining at the Riverstone chophouse… We consistently receive excellent service, delicious food and like the atmosphere. The staff is always so polite and accommodating and we have enjoyed every dish we have tried, from seafood to the aged ribeye. I also highly recommend saving room for dessert, you will not be disappointed!!!"
