A word from Rick Moonen's RM Seafood
In January 2005, the aquatic-chic restaurant, rm seafood joined the newest wave of world class restaurants at Mandalay Place. Award-winning seafood maestro, Rick Moonen, one of the hottest chefs at the helm, was lured from NYC to create rm seafood. A mecca for seafood lovers and hipsters alike, rm seafood is a relaxed rocking bistro atmosphere that also features a world-class sushi bar & coast-coast oysters at the raw bar. Sleek and fresh with a contemporary look, the restaurant is built from mahogany with lots of glass and reminiscent of yachts and wooden boats. Whether creating a new dish with fresh finds from America's best Fish Markets or praising the provenance and quality of eco-friendly seafood, Rick Moonen's passion for seafood is contagious.

Reservations always recommended.

Diner Reviews
  • "Was visiting Vegas for the fourth of July weekend and decided to dine here before going to the MJ cirque du soleil show. The food was fantastic. The service was good but did not meet my expectations."

  • "we ordered off of the raw food menu and it was outstanding! service was great and our server was very attentive and made excellent recommendations based upon our preferences."

  • "The food was superb! My wife and I enjoyed the daily special of a chicken sandwich with fries. She ate the Maine Lobster Rolls, which were EXCELLENT! We would definitely go back in the near future."

  • "We had a great time! We tried the large shellfish platter which was awesome. Clams, mussels, oysters, shrimp, crab and lobster, of my! They oysters were particularly delicious. For dessert we tried the ice cream game which was fun and delicious. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. We never had to ask for anything. Chef Rock Moonen was there and gracious enough to come wet us and take a picture. Really great experience."

  • "The food (White Clam Chowder and Surf, Surf & Surf) were great. The chowder was light with a nice little kick to it. The three surfs were a poached lobster tail, jumbo shrimp and diver scallops on a bed of risotto. This is fresh seafood prepared in a very inspiring way. And it is simply delicious. The service was very good - attentive without being overbearing. My only knock on the place is the number of tables and chairs that they have set up. During a busy time, you feel somewhat sardined and relegated to listen to other tables' conversations. Getting in and out from the tables is not easy when the tables around you are occupied. But the seafood will (hopefully) keep you coming back!"

  • "Impeccable food, attentive but un-rushed service, knowledgeable wait staff"

  • "As environmentally conscious pescetarians, it's important for us to find restaurants that offer sustainable fish options. RM Seafood offers a wonderful selection of starters and main dishes (we didn't try the sushi; next time!) and serves decent portions. Our side dishes were superb as were the cocktails. But best of all was the service! Our waiter was attentive and personable. He offered a quick and satisfying solution to our original drink order. In addition, the chef who served our meals hot from the kitchen was enthusiastic and informative about the food she was setting down in front of us (and she's got a smooth radio-friendly voice, which was very appealing)! Forget the Rio Seafood Buffet! We'll be back here next time we're in Vegas!"

  • "the food was fantastic, loved the dessert sampler to end a perfect meal, wait staff was excellent"

  • "The setting and decor of the restaurant were very nice, very suitable for a special occasion. The service was excellent, we were attended to promptly and courteously. The food is where I had to knock it down a star or two. For the exorbitant prices, we were expecting seafood that would blow us away, as opposed to dishes that were just a slight notch above say a Red Lobster. While the restaurant itself has no glaring flaws, the price tag comes from the RM in the sign, and not much more."

  • "Was not what we expected. We were seated outside in the mall. My wife was seated right next to the folding wall. She said it was like eating in a food court. I had a view of the antique automobile but with a contractor's wet-saw plainly in view. The service staff were very good and professional. The lobster bisque was somewhat tasteless. My wife said her salad was just OK but she did like her Scallops. I had steak & lobster. The steak was good, but the lobster was small and served with margarine not real butter. It was overpriced. We tried the mac & cheese and found it's pork BBQ too overpowering for the rest of the meal. Perhaps it would be OK in a steak house but NOT in a seafood establishment. We therefor did not stay for desert."

  • "Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best, portion size was a joke and the prices are extremely inflated. Our server was very good!!"

  • "RM has an outstanding selection of sushi rolls that are unique and tasty. This is a great place for a group of friends, and perfect for sharing!"

  • "We had lunch here before leaving Las Vegas. There is a lunch menu, but watch out for the recommendation of dinner items that are not on the lunch menu. The server did not mention the price and it was a shock. My companion had the cioppino, which was a pasta base instead of a stew. He was not told by the server that it is very spicy. It did have a good amount of fish in it. I had the recommended lobster Mac and cheese from the dinner menu. When we realized that we had been charged $49 for just the Mac and cheese with no bread or salad, it was disappointing. I'm not sure if we will eat here again."

  • "Had dinner reservations. A little late on seating. I had the Chipino and was pleased. My wife had the diver scallops. That was also good. The wait staff did make. Some mistakes. Put the small plate scallop appetizer in with the Chipino instead of separately. Had to ask for bread. Even with these mistakes we would go there again."

  • "I paid for a table of six. The bill, which was somewhat more than $600, was presented to me, and as I checked it, I found that the gratuity had already been included. I was not told that the gratuity was included by the waiter, and could easily have double tipped, which I suppose is what they are hoping for."

  • "The octopus was absolutely perfectly done. The surf and surf was exceptional, as was the crab cake. The only complaint is that the noise level was such that it was impossible to be heard across the two-person table without speaking very loudly. It was even difficult to hear the server to discuss the food and order."

  • "Took forever to be seated because they ran out of menus. Ugh. Appetizers were served at different times. Main courses were forgetable but still expensive. Expected better from top chef master. Will not go again."

  • "This was my third time back. Absolutely outstanding food!"
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We asked about the steamed clams but the server had zero clue what type of clam it was. COCKLES,NOT clams! We passed on them. I got a clam chowder, with hardly any clams and zero seasoning. Cobia in a bland sauce. I flipped one piece over to see the middle was RAW. There were 3 pieces, one of which had the BLOODLINE still in it! DISGUSTING and horrible tasting because of the cooking. Again there was zero seasoning. I was with a chef from another restaurant in MB and my brother who has worked at NYC restaurants and both had the Surf and Surf with risotto which had no seasoning either in fact he asked for some salt but that did not help. The lobster appeared to have been steamed(not butter poached) BUT it too was RAW in the middle."

  • "I spent an evening with clients and co workers at this restaurant. The food was very good but the highlight of the evening was our waitress, she was engaging with the group and very professional. I would have to say she ranks in the top 5 people I have been waited up by in my years of travel."
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "The waiter David was in the middle of explaining the menu when abruptly left to serve another table then the second time he came around he abruptly left to take a bill to another table! The food was mediocre at best."
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "Waiter was fine but other wait staff had a poor attitude. Sushi was okay-nothing more and I expected more from this type of restaurant. The same goes with the fish my husband ordered. Can't rely on a name-food has to be better than it was especially at the prices you are asking. I would not recommend this restaurant to others."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "Very good food in a mall-like setting. It can't be helped...but still. Very expensive for feeling like it's nothing special. I'd definitely go back but with a different expectation!"

  • "This was our fourth time eating here while in Las Vegas. Each time food and service was excellent!!"

  • "Should have been prepared since the place was empty. Huge restaurant, total of 4 people there eating lunch. Food was terrible. Hard to mess up fish and chips and a lobster roll. Both were awful. We paid $55 for some fries and potato chips. Would definitely NOT recommend. "

  • "We had a delicious lunch here while staying at Mandalay Bay. The great reviews were accurate. The sushi and sashimi list is creative and very broad (remember this is the desert). The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The servers were very polished, knowledgeable and friendly. We only ordered from the by the glass wine list, but had delicious wines. It is a clean, modern beautiful space, and the noise level at lunch was low and allowed us to have a private conversation. High marks all around."

  • "I have eaten at RM a half a dozen times with mixed results. So this time decided to give it one last try and was once again disappointed. Although technically there was nothing wrong with the meal, for the price there was nothing outstanding either. Everything was flavorless, flat and really kind of boring. Their menu needs a major overhaul. The service was another pet peeve. I enjoy having knowledgeable servers that can lead you into something unexpected however it was blatantly obvious that all they really wanted to do was up sell to bump up the check. Very dissapointing "

  • "We love Rick Moonen's Restaurant. We make sure we eat here every time we come to Vegas and we come often. The food is outstanding and the staff is friendly, pleasant and helpful. We tell all our friends to make sure they have dinner here!! We love it!"

  • "Took my daughter there for her birthday. The food was amazing. It was served prompt. Meat was not cooked the way she ordered it. The waiter was right behind the server so it was wisked away and done correctly with in minutes. The manager also stopped by to apologize. When it returned it was done perfectly. She really enjoyed it. From the starters to the sides to the main course everything was delicious. The wait staff was very professional yet friendly and extremely efficient. We will definitely return when back in town."

  • "Food is excellent, it's a bit pricey but well worth it. If it was more affordable I would go there every night during my stay. The Calamari was the best I've had, perfectly cooked, not chewy, the mussels sauce was out of this world (ask for extra bread, everyone wants to dip."

  • "My husband and I were happy that RM made sure its menu items were sustainably sourced. The raw oysters were fresh and briny. The catch of the day was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the cioppino and said "Now THIS is real cioppino!" when it arrived beautifully presented and chock full of delicious, well-prepared seafood. The Key lime pie for dessert was one of the best we've ever had. Our server was attentive and helpful in choosing our dishes. The only drawback was the cavernous feel of the restaurant. At first we were seated under flourescent lights on the indoor "patio", but the noise from the casino was harsh, so we asked to be seated inside where it was full of large noisy groups in town for a convention."

  • "Rick Moone's RM Seafood seamed to be a good choice since we were seeing the Michael Jackson show right after dinner. I was very disappointed in the quality of the seafood , especially for what we were paying. I don't think any of their seafood was fresh. I could tell that it had been frozen or over cooked by its rubbery texture. The wine steward should be demoted back to dish washer because I knew more about wine than he did. Once he figured that out he avoided us like the plague. I would defiantly not recommend this Resaurant to anyone. "

  • "Everytime we come here for dinner I am always let down. Lunch is better and much more suited to the restaurant. Definitely casual. Crab menage a trois was watery and although there was a split in the shell, very difficult to pry apart-should have been completely opened. Salads ok, my husband's fish was ok. Everything ok, nothing great, more than enough other choices in Vegas for dinner. For lunch the lobster rolls are yummy! As are the crab cakes. "
