A word from Rick Moonen's RM Seafood
In January 2005, the aquatic-chic restaurant, rm seafood joined the newest wave of world class restaurants at Mandalay Place. Award-winning seafood maestro, Rick Moonen, one of the hottest chefs at the helm, was lured from NYC to create rm seafood. A mecca for seafood lovers and hipsters alike, rm seafood is a relaxed rocking bistro atmosphere that also features a world-class sushi bar & coast-coast oysters at the raw bar. Sleek and fresh with a contemporary look, the restaurant is built from mahogany with lots of glass and reminiscent of yachts and wooden boats. Whether creating a new dish with fresh finds from America's best Fish Markets or praising the provenance and quality of eco-friendly seafood, Rick Moonen's passion for seafood is contagious.

Diner Reviews
  • "As a foodie, and fan of professional chef competition shows, I was eager to sample Rick Moonen's cuisine. I was completely wowed! His oyster sampler allowed me to fall in love with 2 new oysters (one west coast and one east coast). I followed that with the true north salmon. Remember when you first tasted salmon? Bored? This salmon was so beautifully cooked that I couldn't even imagine another fish in its place. The service and decor was an excellently complemented to the food, instead of competing with the dishes. I can't wait for my next meal here."

  • "Husband and I were in town for the weekend celebrating his birthday. Found this place online and the reviews sounded great so I surprised him with dinner and we both loved it. Yes it was a little pricey but the food lived up to every bit of it. I has sushi, my husband had a seafood trio and we had the mussles as an appetizer. Definitely some of the best food ever, a great environment and even with with everyone in the room it felt very private. The waiter was very nice and pleasant as well as the rest of staff."

  • "Awful service. Terribly organized. Mediocre food. Sometimes you're just better off fasting."

  • "I came to Vegas with the intention of trying sushi for the first time. RM's Seafood was pretty highly rated on Urbanspoon, so I decided to give them a shot. I was promptly seated and greeted right away by the wait staff. I explained to my server that I was very inexperienced when it comes to sushi and would need some guidance. He was not only incredibly knowledgable, but very patient and willing to have a conversation to determine what my taste buds might like. Needless to say, my food was outstanding and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. I'd absolutely recommend this place for dinner or just having a couple drinks at the bar."

  • "We had several wonderful meals in Vegas, but this was the everyone's favorite. The seafood and service were outstanding. I would rate both the seafood and service higher if it was an option. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect the entire time we were there. Not one morsel of food remained on any of our plates for our party of 5. Highly recommended. Looking forward to returning."

  • "Was it an off night? The food looked great but lacked seasoning. Our waiter never mentioned specials soup of the day, no recommendations, didn't ask about sides etc. Waiter was terrible, but the servers were very good. I'd give it another chance because the food had such potential."

  • "Despite the chef's reputation as seafood whisperer, there were only a few cooked seafood options but a great many sushi options. One of us ordered the (cooked) salmon, which was fine but nothing special, while the rest ordered a variety of sushi because of the lack of cooked choices. The sushi was fine but definitely not noteworthy. If we'd wanted sushi, we'd have gone to Nobu. Our waiter, marginal at best, had the audacity to highly recommended the $185 shellfish platter as a starter for our family of 4, which includes an 8 year old and a teen. While that luxurious suggestion may have been appropriate for a party of businessmen or adults, it definitely wasn't appropriate for a family. My family of seafood lovers was gravely disappointed."

  • "Very nice evening, food was really tasty, and the waiter was on our table the entire evening although he was busy. Desert was slow. We will come back !"

  • "This resturant has the current modern theme. It was supposed to give the idea of the teak and glass of a boat. I found the place to be a bit noisy for my taste The food was excellent and very well prepared."

  • "Server seem to be in a hurry and rush us through all dinner, and he complaciente about the Kirchner service. Food just Ok!"

  • "We have eaten there a lot and this time both the service and food were disappointing. We waited longer than expected for our reserved table. Other people who came in after us were seated before us. We finally had to say something to the hostess to get a table. In the past of food has always been excellent but this time it was only mediocre. A real disappointment because this was always one of our favorite places to come we came to Las Vegas."

  • "My husband and I dined here on a recent trip to Las Vegas and were so disappointed with food. Our seafood was not fresh and even the non seafood items were bland and not good at all. With these prices we expected it to be fantastic. Needless to say we won't be back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone."

  • "We did dinner and a show for my birthday on a Saturday night and RM Seafood did not disappoint! Casual, contemporary atmosphere with amazing plates. Impeccable, quick, friendly service and the server even comped me a key lime pie for my birthday that was so amazing that my non-dessert loving husband even had to try it. Would definitely recommend."

  • "The cuisine at RM's was superb. We enjoyed the meal itself. The food was prepared and presented very professionally. The dining experience overall was not exceptional. Staff in general, appeared to behave in a pretentious manner. (I expect it in France, but not in the U.S.) Bread was forgotten for our table. Couples were quickly whisked out but large parties were indulged greatly."

  • "This is the second time I've dined at RM Seafood. Great place. Selection of oysters is outstanding and tasty. I've recently dined here with a group of six others and our meals were all very good. We all especially enjoyed having fun with the ice cream challenge, where you get a plate of 16 small ice creams and an answer sheet where you taste and then write down your guesses. Great find in the shoppes area between Mandalay and Luxor."

  • "Restaurant week - scallops were on the small portion side but interesting because of the drunken raisins. Can't decide whether I love it or just like it because the other tastes in the dish. It was well presented and the tastes were new to me. The clam chowder as the starter was warm at best when I was expecting hot soup. Not sure if that was intentional! Creme brulee was good but I had hoped it to be warm but it was served cold. The banana topper was a nice touch."

  • "One of the top dining experiences we have ever had, especially in Vegas. Excellent food and service. The servers also knew the menu and flavors extremely well. Would go back in a heartbeat."

  • "Its not too often that you find such a dedication to sustainable seafood menu items, let alone sustainable sushi options! The service was incredible, we had multiple servers attending to us and felt like royalty. In Mandalay Bay, so convenient to the casino and nightclubs. I highly recommend this restaurant and for those that have never thought about or consumed sustainable seafood, please give it a try, learn about it, and taste the difference, while making a positive impact."

  • "Received salads, no salt on table and pepper was bought to us after we were half way though our salad Waiter was good, but should of suggest that sides were for two people. Also that when bending over to talk to the table next to us, his rear end was in my wifes face. For the price of meal, the chairs were not comfort to sit in"

  • "Got a last minute reservation here to end spring restaurant week. Waiter was beyond wonderful. Throughout the night gave honest opinions on food and spirits to try . He was thoughtful and seemed to be reading the minds of the guests . Service was great and food was wonderful as well. Waygu hanger steak with lobster mashed potatoes were amazing. The potatoes were not shy on lobster meat in any way."

  • "The Food was excellent. Our server was great, only a few small issues, the chairs were not very comfortable. Our dessert took a long lime after we had finished diner. If the chairs we more comfortable we wouldn't have minded as much. Also the mens restroom needs to be maintained better. I would still be happy to return."

  • "Always nice going to a fish restaurant that doesn't smell like a fish restaurant. Everything was just perfect. The food's greatness is based on starting with a great product. Not too much sauce, just goodness. One person in my party had a steak and loved it."

  • "We took advantage of the special three course menu for Las Vegas Restaurant week. We were not disappointed! The first course included Caesar salad and clam chowder, both of which were quite good. The main courses we enjoyed were the king salmon and the Wagyu beef flatiron steak. Both were cooked to perfection. The two desserts we enjoyed were also excellent. We will definitely go back."

  • "Chris was the waiter and as we sat down he went through a long list of what they were out of...crab, hanger steak etc.... The seating reminds you of the cow palace but the menu is upscale with steak running around $90. Many people think it is a moderately price restaurant looking at the decor but get shell shock when they see the prices on the menu. Thus they were out of cheaper items such as hanger steak early in the evening. We got steak oscar and it was really good. The service was very average. The place was crowded but most people were searching for cheaper items on the menu. The couple next to us just got dessert and an appetizer because of costs. They even brought in their own plastic cup alcohol drinks...."

  • "Scallops were amazing, but the clam chowder that everyone raves about was just... I've had better. We were seated in the front patio section with a great view of an escalator. Service was just OK. For $100+ per person easily, the service and location (ambience) should be better. RM's checked off my list."

  • "Charred octopus was great scallops were amazing melted in your mouth. We brought a bottle of wine and left it with the host so we didn't have to carry it around the casino. They uncorked it early so it could breath and it was at our table when we arrived. Service was excellent."

  • "I liked RM. Our server was excellent...very knowledgeable and friendly. I had an Old Fashioned to drink which was perfect. Our appetizers (sushi, CA roll & Wedge) were all very good. My main critique was with the Wagu hanger steak that both myself and my friend ordered. We ordered the steaks Med-Rare, and they came out that way. However the char that they had on the outside of the steak completely overpowered whatever natural flavor the steak would have had. I added three diver scallops to my dish, which were cooked perfectly, and saved the entree for me. ."

  • "Our dining experience at RM was exceptional. Very attentive and friendly staff got us seated right away and the excellent service began immediately. I ordered the lionfish special and my wife chose the diver scallops - both were excellent! We also truly enjoyed the oyster sampler of east and west coast delicacies and the exceptionally yummy foie gras. All paired up with a nice merlot to boot. We really loved this restaurant and will definitely return."

  • "Everything was good. The sturgeon was excellent. Waiter was excellent. Given four stars in service because the hostess apparently does not understand the concept of a reservation and was a little rude. As a plus, we saw Matt Leblanc during our meal."
