Revolution’s sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere greets guests as they enter the commanding historic Baldwin Building. A dazzling tiled mosaic from Florence adorns the wall, while rich hues of garnet and chocolate brown leather, natural cork, and original restored wood flooring create an inviting social scene. Revolution’s menu features a selection replete with imaginative interpretations of contemporary global cuisine. Chef Anile also offers a variety of tasting options from the three course “Feed Me” to the seven course “The Feast” menu. Revolution is proud to serve an unassuming yet impressive selection of fine wines featuring small production vineyards.   • "We dined here to celebrate the recent marriage of two of our closest friends. We all selected the 3-course (surprise) dinner and it did not disappoint!!! For the main course, the chef prepared TWO entrees, so we each got to share two. From the waiter, to the manager to the chef, this is as good of dining as we've ever had in the triangle area. (And we did not feel it was overpriced.) The valet parking right in front of the restaurant is a plus since downtown Durham parking can be iffy."

  • "Durham's old Magnolia Grill was reknowned as "Not Afraid of Flavor." Revolution seems to have taken that title as its guiding principle, as well. It's an ideal place to enjoy a strong selection of wines by the glass, accompanied by appetizers and small plates of distinctively spiced and combined food. The combinations were innovative, but not crazy - Ahi Tuna with wasabi caviar! Shrimp ceviche with green tomato gazpacho. Duck leg with kimchi and orange-black bean confit. Really smart recipes."

The planked salmon was awesome and the snapper was equally amazing. We splurged on desert and had an exceptional red velvet cake and a very good chocolate mousse cake.   • "First time at Revolution and had a good dining experience. The service was outstanding with all the wait staff pitching in for seamless service. I started with the watermelon/beet/arugula salad which was good but needed a more creative dressing to push it over the top. For the entree did the roasted red snapper with the avocado puree over a potato salad. The fish was slightly overcooked and I am still not sure of the potato salad pairing with the fish. The fish was basically plopped down on the potato salad. Didn't seem extremely creative to me. The avocado puree was excellent. I would definitely return but there is room for improvement. Good specialty cocktail selection and wine list. They were out of cabernet sauvignon (surprising)."

  • "I've been here 3 times and always with "foodies" (which I am not), and I feel it's a very safe place to bring people who are hard to please with restaurant quality. I would definitely recommend it, especially for special occasions. I enjoy the food very much myself (although there are only limited vegetarian options, so I've only tried a few dishes), and I feel confident bringing others there. I imagine for a non-vegetarian, it would be even more exciting. :) Thank you for great food and polished service!"

  • "Durham is further away than we can walk from Cameron Village, and more than a five dollar cab ride, so we rarely get way out there. Ringo Starr was playing at the DPAC so we had no choice. When we have no choice but to go to the DPAC, we almost always eat at Revolution. The food is damn good with excellent vegetarian options. We highly recommend it."

  • "As is the case with most Durham restaurants, Revolution boasts wonderful food (although the single serving of pork loin was enough for two or more) and attentive wait staff, but it does so in an atmosphere that's more like that of a bus station than a restaurant. Drunken millennials sit and shout over each other, presumably so their important adventure tales can be heard over the din. In these older re-purposed Durham buildings, the ceilings are very high and virtually no attempt by management to do anything about soundproofing; that money gets spent on more tables to pack in as many people as possible, who all talk at the top of their lungs. Too bad, because the food was all exceptional at Revolution, from the salads to the main courses."

We were thrown into the basement room in the midst of several groups of diners without any chance to request for a better sitting location on the restaurant's main floor. If it wasn't for the great server, we almost got up and left. The menus are not presentable with several sheets held together by an over sized paper clip. Definitely a tacky look. The extensive wine list was disappointing at minimum. Along with the outstanding and professional service provided by our server the only other saving grace was the amazing food. It is clear that the best this restaurant has to offer is the chef. I will not be returning to the Revolution and certainly don't recommend it."

  • "Went there for Restaurant Week in the Triangle and had great food and top notch service. Had the pork belly w/creamed leeks for the first course, which was one of the best dishes I've had in a year or two. The Chef's "Feed Me" selection of fried monk fish and mussels was only okay but my wife's beef short rib w/mashed potatoes was awesome. The red velvet cake was a fantastic desert and the hazelnut chocolate mouse was okay. Portions were large and much more than we expected for the price and our waiter was attentive and the wine pairings were excellent. I've been here before and while pricey it was and remains a very good value. Will return and would highly recommend it to others."

  • "I wanted to take my 14 year old daughter to a nice place to compliment her Christmas Present of tickets to DPAC and I found this place on line. The service was excellent (it's a joy to be served by someone who obviously loves their job), the food was exquisite and the atmosphere was striking. The only knock on the place was that they only have one toilet in each bathroom--meaning grown men had to wait like children at an elementary school. Overall, an excellent experience for my party of 6."

  • "The menu is a gourmet delight. We had two of the large plate entrees and desert and espresso coffee. A good alternative are the fabulous appetizers and small plates. Either way the restaurant is in its 5th year in Durham and continues to be a find for eclectic but main stream menu, great chef and very attentive service but not intrusive service. On a rainy evening the free valet parking service was a blessing. "

  • "Food was good. Service was poor. We had a reservation at 5:45. The restaurant was not crowded and we told our waitor Ivan that we were to make a 7:30 DPAC show. We ordered drinks and dinner at. 6 and did not receive our main course until 7:05. We also asked for the bill at that time. Since I had recommended the restaurant to our group. I was embarrassed by poor service."
