   Our meal was well prepared and presented well. Wait staff was attentive. The steaks were cooked as we requested and were quite tasty. We plan to return for a mid-week meal to compare service. I would recommend this restaurant.

   Our server was very knowledgeable. I asked about a wine choice and I think he could have done a three day seminar. Very impressive! The salad was excellent. I had the half chicken. Best ever. This is one of Mitchell's better places. .

   The service was excellent. We were celebrating Mother's Day a couple of days early. We made a reservation for 8 PM and were seated as soon as we walked into the restaurant. Our table sat all 6 of us comfortably. The server greeted us within a minute or two of sitting down. They gave us ample time to review the menu and make our selections. We didn't order any appetizers as we wanted to save room for the main course! We were served freshly baked rolls and whipped butter which held us off until our meals arrived. I had the filet mignon which was prepared perfectly (medium - pink center). The seasoning of the steak was perfect, not overwhelming. I had a Manhattan as my drink but changed the bourbon to Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It was a bit on the small side but the pour was generous. I had a baked potato with butter only as my side and it was baked to perfection as well (crispy but not overdone skin and flaky inside). My mom had the linguini and clams. She stated that the clams were fresh and delicious. There were at least 8-9 clams on the plate and ample (almost too much) linguini. Mom stated that the linguini was very good as well. The rest of our group also indicated that they were very pleased with their respective meals as well. Everything was fresh and tasty. From our perspective, it is tough to make The Avenue a regular visiting spot as the price is a bit high but for special occasions it is very hard to beat. I highly recommend!

   Staff was friendly but relatively absent once order was taken. The food was acceptable, but I'm sure I would have had the waitress redo my steak special had she visited during the meal. Lastly, when making the Open Table reservation, it was asked if "Special Occasion?" I answered, "anniversary", so when they brought a slice of cake when we were paying our bill we were thankful. We had a few bites and paid our bill. Unfortunately, I didn't look closely at the itemized bill and was disappointed when I got home and saw we were charged $13.00 for our cake! We didn't order it, we only took a couple of bites, and it wasn't explained to us. Shame on me and shame on The Avenue.
