About this restaurant

  • Romantic
  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
Germano Fabiani has sparked a renaissance in Little Italy with his newest venture, Germano's PIATTINI (small plates), a contemporary Italian kitchen and bar and upstairs cabaret, with a small plates and paired brews menu that excites the palate and offers something for every taste. Germano has turned the 200 year old establishment into a "terzo", a home away from home and work. The scrumptious menu—try the Tartufo Bianco (white truffle pizza), Carciofi Fritti (Prosecco battered fried long stem artichokes) and Polpette Kobe (Kobe beef meatballs)-- is allergy aware (this is a nut-free facility) and includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options...full bar and wine list and wines by the glass (3 oz. & 6 oz.), beers by the bottle and a selection of draft IPA’s, stouts, ales/pils, seasonals /wheats and imports on rotation, creative cocktails, and our continued commitment to bring you an outstanding lineup of cabaret--jazz, opera, urban folk, bluegrass, theater, Broadway and more--

This place is a hole in the wall, literally. We had a reservation for a time frame and wasn't accommodated until 30-45 minutes later, also several people had the same reservation time as us. Then to not receive our food an hour later. The owner didn't even want to take anything off the bill for the inconvenience. I would never come here again or refer this place to anyone.

We were greeted by Germano who was a really nice guy. Walked us in to the table we had reserved for Valentine’s Day. Service was good but the food took forever to come out. I got the veal which wasn’t very good. I took it in a book to go without more than a bite. My date had the salmon which she liked. The tiramisu was excellent. The pear was average not great. Tasted a bit too bitter.

Did not get apps until 1.5 hours - after we asked owner. Only 2 of 3 delivered. And 3 of 4 entrees. Asked for the 4th and came after others done. 2 of the 4 entrees were wrong. Ate anyway because the whole thing took too long. Asked for bread 2 times and never got it. Nothing comped. No apologies. Not returning.

We went to Germano's Piattini for Valentine's day. We had a good opening, but our waiter was not good as he lost our order; but did not come back to us until 45 to 60 minutes later; even with asking others for assistance. At the same time, the food we did get was good.

Valentine’s Day dinner was disappointing. The food was decent, but nothing special. One of our dishes wasn’t hot. The staff was so disorganized and unprofessional it was comical. The best analogy would be the keystone cops. Yelling at each other, forgetting who had what table, making comments about internal workings out loud so customers could hear. It was kind of like a comedy show. It wasn’t a horrible experience, but there are so many other better Italian restaurants in Baltimore’s Little Italy.

Service was awful. From the time we sat down we were never greeted by a server. I had to call one over to us after 20 minutes because no one was attending to us and other couples. They were not even that busy.

Germano’s was exactly what we were looking for: delicious food served in a warm, inviting, unhurried atmosphere. I was in the mood for risotto. The only choice was vegetable but they gladly added shrimp- delicious! The tiramisu was the perfect ending to a lovely meal.

The food was delicious, and our server was nice and attentive, although he was a bit eccentric and a little unsure of the menu. The restaurant was very quiet and clearly it was a slow night. The vegetarian options were plentiful, and we had trouble choosing from many mouth-watering choices. To be completely honest, we were a little put off by the wobbly table, sticky floor, and overall casual decor for what we were expecting to be a fancier restaurant. However, we would likely return when willing to splurge on an expensive, but delicious meal. We were curious about the music venue upstairs, but there was no event that night and we never got a chance to talk to anybody about it.

We had a very large party for a special occasion. Food was excellent. Atmosphere great. The service was slow. Too long between appetizers and dinner.
