Raven & RoseQuick for the theatreEven though 5 tables sat down at once our server alerted us and made extra effort to engage other servers to help out and ensure that our needs were taken care of. We didn't experience any delays and they were very accommodating of our curtain time.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest New Spot in PortlandRaven & Rose is a hot new spot in PDX. With outstanding food both in small and large plates, it is the best gastropub around. Be certain to try the Flatbread...delicious!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA New Star on BroadwayIt's great to have another pre-theatre choice near most of the theaters. Friendly, lively atmosphere adds to the enjoyment.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu- something differentThere is something unique about Raven and Rose. The food, the people, the decor all seem like a breath of fresh air, go and see for yourself.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully restored building.Beautifully restored building. Excellent food preparation, though the cut of roast beef was not high quality and not served at proper temperature. Service was good. A little expensive. Located between the University District and Downtown Portland. Not the top of my list, but probably will return.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite new restaurant!!My favorite new restaurant!! After every visit, I can't wait to go back again!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMToo, too noisy! The food and service were A1. When we entered we were dismayed at the noise, from conversation competing with music, in the main restaurant. We would not have been able to hear each other speak. Fortunately the hostess seated us, at our request, by the elevator which is to one side - definitely not part of the main dining area! Had this not happened we would not have stayed to eat.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 4th time at thisThis was our 4th time at this place and we were treated like life-long friends. We were seated at the chef's counter without even asking and all the staff stopped by to chat. The food was excellent, once again. We loved it so much that after our symphony concert we went back and went to the bar, The Rookery, upstairs for another drink. Very special place.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!Loved it. Brought a group to the Resturant and they were very accommodating. Food was great, staff was better!!!.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMReally enjoyable on many levels! We really enjoyed Raven and Rose. We used Supportland points to redeem food from the wood oven section of the menu, and it was delicious. We enjoyed the lamb meatballs. I would highly recommend getting those with the Ken's Artistan Breads. Great combo because you can soak up the jus left in the small cast iron skillet with the bread! Awesome! The bartender was gracious and allowed us to split the "El Presidente" which was also really good. I would recommend this cool spot in a beautiful downtown historic building. Really enjoyable spot.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMM&MRaven & Rose is very welcoming, the service is excellent. My friend and I ate dinner because of all the things she cannot eat. Our waitress checked to make sure the food was appropriate for her. We had a lovely meal. I will recommend Raven & Rose to friends and associates. The energy was very upbeat. I do not drink alcohol so I cannot say about that. The historical building is beautiful. I will suggest having the farm egg and wild greens salad though it is amazing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMRaving about Raven and RoseWonderful place with excellent service. Food has a British flair but infused with Northwest local inspirations. Very cool, welcoming bar on the top floor.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, quite priceyAbsolutely lovely food, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. We found the entrees to be overpriced for Portland, however. Its location and ambience are great. Confusingly, the outside sign makes it look like an English pub, but the inside has a nice, warm restaurant feel. Try it for a special evening if you don't mind the steep-ish entree prices.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFine for a special occasionThe place was good, but the food was not for my palate. Honestly, there were not a lot of vegetarian options so I ended up with a side green salad and roasted brussel sprouts. It was tasty, but I probably wouldn't go there for dinner on my own accord. While the food was not really for me, the service and ambience were excellent. The waitress was more than kind especially since we got so busy talking about the history of the building that we completely forgot to look at the menus. The bar scene and happy hour are really fantastic too4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to celebrate! We had a wonderful time! Great food. Great service. The coach house is beautifully restored. We'll be back.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experienceWonderful dining experience at Raven & Rose last Saturday evening. The service was attentive but not "hovering" and the food was incredible. The flatbread was delicious as was my rabbit fixed 2 ways. We will definitely return.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and nice ambience,Good food and nice ambience, tasty cocktails, and a thoughtful if somewhat expensive wine list.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, professional service.Friendly, professional service. Good drinks, tasty creative food.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the food, and theWe enjoyed the food, and the ambiance of the first floor restaurant. Our server -- and all of the staff, were warm, considerate and helpful. The second floor, where we chose to have dessert: not so much. It was more like a sports bar than the quiet fireplace bar that we had expected. Overall, a good experience with a nice wine list, and terrific menu options -- well-prepared.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA little pretentious & over-priced.A little pretentious & over-priced. The food was good though. This restaurant tries to be too many things. It has an English pub name, but isn't a pub. The food is NW meets bistro. It was pleasant enough though & I'd probably go again.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen I walked in I was immediatelyWhen I walked in I was immediately treated with a smile. And politely shown to my booth....
The entire experience was relaxing and the food Was delicious. The short ribs for fall off the Bone YUMMY....
We are telling all of our friends...3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLovelyService was amazing, food was really good. Place was very charming.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere's the Bread? Not a wide variety of entree's but what we had was well prepared and beautifully presented. Portions are a little smaller than other restaurants in this price range. I had a very tasty nettle soup and was surprised that it was served without any bread. In fact bread was not served or offered at all. Why then, are bread plates part of the table setting?3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthe best ivehad in a while.the best ivehad in a while. loved everything about the place. food, drinks, atmosphere were all perfect. great service. its only been open 3 months, someone knows what they are doing3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved Raven & Rose -- AndWe loved Raven & Rose -- And so, apparently, do a lot of other people: already at 5:30 on a Saturday night, it was jammed. The menu is creative; we tried a large number of dishes, and found everything perfectly done. I'll come back for the mussels alone. But also excellent are the steak tartare, nettle soup, pork pate and small pasta dish. I thought the food prices were very reasonable. Two people can have a delicious (and filling) evening here for around $100. We had plenty of attention from the servers, courses were properly paced, and I love the upscale decor. This wonderful renovated carriage house is worth experiencing, and you are sure to enjoy the welcoming luxury of both the ambience and the food.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had never heard of theWe had never heard of the restaurant so this was a good find. We had wonderful food and great service.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food with a greatExcellent food with a great chef. Where can you find a medlar glaze for a pork appetizer and a medlar shrub from the bar? We are organic farmers and used to fresh ingredients and this place met all our expectations.
We will return.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular remodel. The upstairsSpectacular remodel. The upstairs bar area has incredible detail with windows most beautiful and many other features that are unusual.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful EveningWe had a great dinner, seated at the chef's table, which was an excellent vantage point to see the happenings in the kitchen. We shared the bread/cracker plate, which was good but a touch more salt would have been nice. We had the short ribs, which was melt-in-your-mouth wonderful, and the rabbit prepared two ways. The rabbit was served with creamed kale and a buttermilk biscuit, both delicious.
The butterscotch pudding, which was light and airy, was a perfect end to our meal. Our cocktails were excellent, and ambiance was perfect. This is a stellar new use to a beautiful historic building - be sure to check out the bar upstairs as well. We will be back to enjoy this place again!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA noticeable improvement fromA noticeable improvement from our visit in early February. All in our group of four really enjoyed the dinner. Raven and Rose is a gem in the PSU end of Broadway.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
