Diner Reviews
  • "When you take a location along a vintage inspired street in a historical building and partner it with courteous, engaging waitstaff you set the mood for a pleasurable dinning experience. Care is take to provide time between courses to enjoy ones food and that food is prepared with great attention to both quality and quantity. It's is a treat for the taste buds and that makes it well worth the price."

  • "Love the ambience at Randy's. The small dining rooms are perfect. The food was delicious and service was very good. The only negative was that the featured wine was not available. I'm not a big steak eater, but my beef tournedos were tender (even though I requested well done - it is really and art form when the beef is well done and tender; the garlic mashed potatoes were fabulous. When we received a call the next day from Randy thanking us for dining at his restaurant, well that is the tops in customer service. We'll be returning and recommending this restaurant."

  • "B- for delivery. The food was not interesting at all. Flavors very flat. Having said that Randy is a gentleman and his staff very well trained. If this review was purely for service it would be a five s"

  • "The reason I gave 3 stars is because we had a reservation for 8:30, we didn't get seated till 9:15-9:30. We sat at the table and it took another 10-15 min for our server to come get ours drink orders. I understand it was resturant week, but you would think they would have more staff knowing it was busy. The food was great! I just wish I didn't have to wait when I had a reservation. I might go back and try then out again."

  • "Really bad experience from start to finish. We were seated 45 mins late for reservation. Waiter messed up my order, and then asked "are you sure? That's not what I heard" They ran out of food on restaurant week menu. When we sat down my wife indicated all I really want is the chocolate cake. When we ordered the cake they didn't have any? It's not just the poor service, but there was no apology from anyone(other than the bus boy) for the service. Maybe they think we shouldn't expect decent service, because the menu was reduced for restaurant week(of course really that great of deal when forced to pay for desert you don't eat). We typically go to plano / Addison when want to eat at upscale steak place, should have done it again."

  • "We arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before our reservation time and were immediately told that we would have to wait 30 - 35 minutes because people were taking too long to finish their meals. The actual wait was right on 30 - 35 minutes. Once seated the wait staff seemed to be overwhelmed and the service was quite slow. We were not in a rush, but there were some dead spots in the meal. We were just a party of 2 and it wasn't too bad, but there were several tables near us with 4 or more people who were having very long drawn out meals. The food however was great. It was to bad that they were having trouble dealing with the amount of business, which surprised me since this is a big restaurant that has been here for years."

  • "After waiting 20 minutes after our reservation, it was downhill from there. Slow service, mediocre food, and an overall sense of chaos followed. It was not a good experience."

  • "Although the food was good, dinner took 2.5 hours and that doesn't count a 20 minute wait for a table even though we had reservations. It was Restaurant Week and so it was crowded but it was obvious that Randy's was unprepared to handle both the volume of diners and the number of courses per diner. It was 20-30 minutes between when one course was picked up and the next one delivered - that is probably ok for one transition but not all 3. Never again during Restaurant Week."

  • "Our prior experiences at Randy's have been great. However we wanted to visit with friends on a Saturday during Restaurant Week ... big mistake. No parking, too noisy, service was extremely slow (over 2.5 hours for our meal), and some of the food was cold. This is a great restaurant with great food and normally great service, but don't plan to visit on a weekend during Restaurant Week!"

  • "The appetizers, sides, and desserts at Randy's were great, but three of our four steaks came out incorrectly cooked. One was overdone, and the two that were supposed to be medium-well were still bleeding! It took three tries to get one of them right. This is not at all what a customer should experience at a restaurant where the total tab is nearly $400!"

  • "Attentive waitstaff. Every bite of food we had was excellent. Charming building."

  • "Used to drive from McKinney to Randy's. We live in Frisco now so when we want a great steak we alternate between Randy's and the Silver Fox. Can't beat either one!"

  • "Took my wife there for her birthday and invited family. When we entered the restaurant, her name was on the marquis with a birthday wish...was a nice touch. The steaks and sides were great in addition to the waiter. Randy also came out a couple of times to see things were doing, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall my wife and family liked the place a lot and would go there again."

  • "This is a quaint restaurant hidden away in a local area. The food is great. If you are looking for the normal pretentious place you'll get in uptown or downtown, this isn't it. It's all about the food. That's what makes it great."

  • "This was a very pleasant surprise. We arrived early on a week day so I can't speak to the noise level or service when the dining room is full. However, when we went the service was outstanding, the food good, and the ambience unexpected for downtown Frisco. We look forward to trying the bar on our way home."

  • "We have wanted to try Randy's but Restaurant Week prompted us to do so. I had the creamy jalapeno soup for a starter - just the right amount of "kick" that didn't disrupt the other flavors. Others tried the walnut/feta green salad and beefsteak tomato/mozzerella salad both of which received great reviews. For the main course, I had the blackberry filet which was very nice. Others had the crab-stuffed filet, ribeye and NY strip. Again, very good. The sides were generous of which my favorite was the creamed corn. The highlight was dessert. We got a couple of creme brulees and a couple of 'Randy's Famous Bread Pudding' - let's just say we know why it is famous! We even got a follow-up call to see how we liked the evening. Nice touch."

  • "Service was top notch, food was excellent, the ambiance of the converted home gives the restaurant a nice romantic feel. Overall it was an enjoyable evening"

  • "I recently dined at Randy's with 3 girlfriends and we had a blast. The waiter was a ton of fun, had great recommendations and kept our food coming with perfect timing. Their restaurant week menu was basically their full menu - which is rare for restaurants participating. We each were able to have something different, share and we all still left with tons of leftovers. The food was great - we'll for sure go back. One note - this probably wasn't the best place for 4 girls drinking wine to chat. We felt like our voices carried and although we tried not to disturb other diners I'm sure we did."

  • "Just had dinner here with friends for the first time. We were very impressed with the selection of entrees, the taste of the food, the ambiance, and the personalized service. Randy himself stopped by our table twice to make sure we were enjoying our food. I had the Bleu Cheese Filet Mignon and it was very good - will definitely order it again. It was quiet enough that we could have a nice conversation without struggling to be heard. The Victorian house is an added bonus to the overall experience. A great alternative to the North Dallas steakhouses."

  • "Food was absolutely marvelous. Steaks were perfect. My wife and I wish the waitress didn't try to put on a front of eliteness. She was very irritating how she talked down to us. When I am spending over $60 per person, I am most important. Dining room was very bright and did not promote a romantic experience. Thank goodness the food was so tasty."

  • "Celebrated our 45th wedding nniversary here. Had only gone once before, and remembered a good experience. Now that we are in the area, we decided to try it again. It did not disappoint. Pricing was so reasonable - food was out of this world. Met the chef, Randy, and visited with him once more before we left. Mark, our server, was fantastic. We'll go back...but won't wait too long this time!"

  • "The food was every bit as creative, if not more so, than the major chain restaurants, but the atmosphere, service, quality and personal attention far exceeded any that I received in a national chain. I love to support our locally-owned businesses, and Randy's steakhouse definitely deserves our support. The warm homemade bread and Parmesean, paprika, garlic butter started the exceptional meal. The special that evening was the prime rib! Luck for us! It was flavorful, juicy and cooked to our order of very rare. Extremely friendly, paying attention to our every need and desire and exceptionally delicious food make this a spot I'll return to on my next trip back to Frisco!"

  • " Exceptional in every area. Randy stopped by our table ssveral times to see how we were doing. Our waiter, Ryan, was very attentive and observant. We we'd there for a birthday but had not shared that when we made reservation. Ryan overheard our conversation and brought a piece of birthday cake out from the staff!! Food was outstanding!"

  • "Randy's is a secret gem on Main Street in Frisco. It has a quaint ambiance in an old home with retro photos scattered throughout. The service was exceptional and the staff are experienced in making your dining experience very special. The menu has a variety of selections for all different tastes with some house specialties. You won't be disappointed and worth the drive if you don't live close by. Reaervations recommended for the weekends."

  • "This was our first time at Randy's. We thought the food was good, not great but good. The price for "good" was too high for a return visit in my opinion. Love the old house feel though and could see going back to the bar to enjoy a drink and an appetizer. There are equally good steakhouses in driving distance that aren't quite so pricey."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "food was very average for the cost. The ambience for a anniversary very poor. The dinning chairs had stains. Due to ambience the price needs to be more affordable. Realize historical location and will become a historical restaurant if pricing does not come back in line. Will not dine again"

  • "Best steak we've ever had. Can tell it was dry aged a long time. Cooked perfectly!! We went for their $35 special. Neither of us could finish everything. Staff was really nice!!"

  • "Randy's is locatd in an converted and quaint home in downtown Frisco and the building has been designated as an Historical Site by the Texas Historical Commission. The food was very good, the service was great, and the atmosphere is cozy and subdued. Great date-night place to impress your current or potential partner! Randy himself came out to ensure all our needs were being met, and helped my fiancé and I celebrate her birthday with style!"

  • "You have to try Randy's $35 3-course meal. Wow, all I can say is that you won't walk away hungry. If you're like me, you'll have leftovers for another wonderful meal at home. The Salads are SO fresh and tasty, the steak was perfectly prepared - so tender and flavorful, and the dessert was lightly sweet and satisfying. This is the BEST steak dinner for the price anywhere!"

  • "We eat at Randy's a handful of times each year, and meet friends there as well. This particular trip was a bit loud, but that was really a function of the people at the surrounding tables. But, the food was as good as ever."
