  • "A friend first brought us to Ralph's on the Park a few years back. We were impressed with the beautiful location across the street from City park. The menu was then and is now inventive and interesting. This visit, we brought some old friends from New Jersey to brunch and they were as charmed as we always are by the lovely location and the terrific food. It's a nice departure from the deep-fried tourist traps of the French Quarter and an acknowledgement that smart creative cuisine is alive and well in NOLA."

  • "Perhaps Amber was having a bad Monday. Her poor service unraveled our celebration dinner. All six of us enjoyed our menu selections, but from the moment we sat down, she gave the impression our very presence was an inconvenience. I'm the kind of person who makes it a challenge to win over surly service people, but no amount of effort was going to sway this young woman. She ended up making a pretty outrageous mistake, then lied and tried to deflect blame. We would've accepted an apology. "Sorry about that, this hasn't been my day." Nope. Just more surly defiance. It wasn't her mistake that ruined our evening. It was her immature reaction. We've always had excellent service in the past. Hard to believe this one had the same training."

  • "It has been awhile since we had brunch here and only recently we have had a few lunches during the week. We stopped going here because the food was bad. Our lunch experioence was good so we thought brunch might also now be good. Wrong. The food this past Sunday was terrible. The turtle soup is not good, can't explain that since it is great at other Brennen places. The sea food was terrible. The place probably needs a new seafood vendor as we were told the seafood last Sunday was actually delivered that day. So we will wait awhile before going back for brunch."

  • "Made reservations, specifically asked for a window seat, was given a seat dead in the middle. Sat down immediately,but pretty much ignored for a while. Waitress stood behind me over my left shoulder which made it difficult at best to hear her or to communicate without turning around to speak to her. Asked to order a full bottle of wine, and waited to receive a separate wine list. When handed the extensive list, waitress stood over me while I rushed to select. When I asked her opinion, she said it was good,but really had no clue. The wine was really sour!!!! no bread offered to break up the taste. Not on par w/ Brennan restaurants! Step it up will ya! New menu to include more choices, better sides, something to eat besides sour!"

  • "We had appetizers and sparkling wine. The City Park salad, which I have had before, had too much. Blue cheese and was too salty. The shrimp while nicely done were just a bit spicer. But everyone can have a off night. My guest enjoyed to soup and duck . We will come again. I have brought guest in the past and have always loved it. Did miss the gumbo though. This is a beautiful place with a lovely location. I have enjoyed all of the restaurants that are under the Ralph Brennan banner"

Food portions were smaller than expected but more than enough to be satisfying. We ended the meal feeling "full and energetic" instead of "stuffed and lethargic"!"

  • "The shrimp and grits was disappointing. There were few grits and the shrimp with heads were swimming in sauce that was just ok. When I mentioned it to the waitress she did not seem to respond. Then I asked for some ice cream to go with bread pudding which came out 10 minutes later also swimming in a puddle of melted ice cream. My friends had wonderful meals."

  • "My wife and I took our daughter to Ralph's last night -- it was our first visit, but it won't be our last. From our greeting at the door to our service throughout the meal, we felt welcome, comfortable and well fed. The fried smoked oysters are extraordinary, as was the cane-glazed shrimp. For my entree, I ordered the special -- banana pompano on a bed of sweet potatoes. This might sound a bit cloying, but in fact, it was simply one of the most delicious fish dish I have ever enjoyed. The skin was slightly charred, giving a nice smokey counterpoint to the complex flavors around it, but the firm, flavorful pompano was never overpowered. My wife's grilled shrimp and Melissa's gnocchi were perhaps less spectacular, but still quite lovely."

  • "Only issue was the seeming dollar pinching going on. I ordered the brunch special, but was intrigued by the soup of the day. I asked to substitute the turtle soup for the soup of the day, but was informed it would cost an extra dollar. This is incredible since the soup of the day was a dollar less then the turtle soup on the a la carte menu... When I asked I was told it would be more because of the cost savings by lumping items for the special... This still seems incredible given that the soup of the day was actually cheaper! Most of all, we are already paying very high prices (food is worth it) why are they trying to squeeze an extra dollar this way???"

  • "I was at the restaurant with 2 people who were in New Orleans for the first time. One was a very picky teenager who couldn't find anything on the menu. The staff reminded me that they had a child's menu and then was willing to mix and match items on the menu. That got us past the food problem. For the adults the food was great as usual. Thanks."

  • "This is the kind of restaurant you want to go if you want to have a great culinary experience. The service was excellent: personable, but not intrusive. Always attentive. The server knew her menu, and was able to answer all out questions about the dishes. My partner does not drink wine, so I had to ask for wine by the glass. I was not impressed with what I got, but, it was a trade off I had to make since I couldn't choose the bottle I wanted and had it served by the glass. I will most certainly return to this restaurant every time I'm in New Orlens."

  • "Bar service left a lot to be desired. (The blonde bartender did not seem to understand the level of service expected for a place of this caliber.) Not a big fan of the table we were given in the center of the dining room, with just a small column separating us from another couple. Not much privacy in that set-up. In addition, the light above the table may need to be adjusted, it was literally shining in my face making dinner that much more awkward. BUT -- the food was phenomenal. And Nicole was an amazing server. Those two reasons would make it so I definitely return in the future -- except maybe this time with a specific table request."
