   Went here for our anniversary, looking for great food in a relaxed setting. Exactly what we found here at Southern kin. Food was outstanding we got chicken and waffles, half rack ribs, macncheese, grilled cornbread and tge chicken rind chips. All very very good. Will be coming back at some point.

   Came for my birthday on Sunday and have Been coming here for a couple years. The fried chicken is INSANELY GOOD. I live in Framingham and make the trip anytime we want fried chicken!!! Absolutely delicious!!!

   I was really excited about going here for brunch and was a little let down. The waiter didn’t take our order for at least 20 minutes and didn’t even update us when something we had ordered was sold out. We didn’t find out until we asked where it was. It took 50 minutes for the food to come out with no update at all from our waiter. The waiter was really nice but didn’t update us at all. The food was good though. I’ll definitely go back and hope for better service next time.

   We arrived earlier than our reservation and was seated a few minutes after our reservation time. The noise level is loud and the dining area is fairly small but cozy. The table service was great. Recommended the catfish and it was awesome. The skillet steak was tasty but hard to justify the cost of $40. Biscuits came out warm. Didn’t expect them to be sweet but they were yummy. Drinks galore, hard to choose with the variety. We opted for seasonal crumble pie which was apple pie and for $4 more you get a small scoop of ice cream. Again, a bit pricey for the amount given. I would go again for the catfish.

   I was extremely excited to check out Southern Kin, but unfortunately I was very let down. My girlfriends and I have a standing brunch date once a week, and we thought for sure this would be a hit. It wasn't. I ordered my usual: chicken and waffles. If that's on the menu, I'm getting it - even at $22 per plate. The problem? The chicken skin was rubbery,there was hardly any crunch batter. The waffles were almost as thin as a pancake and for cheddar-chive waffles, they had barely any taste. They were also not crisp and crunchy like a waffle should be. The pros? The atmosphere is really nice, the waitstaff is fantastic. The cons: All five of us were completely underwhelmed by the food. If Southern Kin could just make a few tweeks to it's recipes, they'd be a smash it. Right now? Not even a one-time wonder, sadly. I *REALLY* wanted to love this place!

   This place is a mixed bag for me. I love southern food and lived for many years in the deep South. So, while I thought the hush puppies were okay, I’d much rather just have some basic, but well made hushpuppies rather than whatever it was they served me. While it wasn’t bad, it was mostly because of the copious amounts of Sriracha mayo on them. I also tried the BLT little plate and the wedge. Both were also very good, though I didn’t care for the dressing on the wedge (smoky paprika buttermilk dressing). The BLT plate is fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese, pork belly, butter lettuce and a whole lot of Louisiana hot sauce. One again, very over wrought like the hushpuppies, but none the less tasty. My husband had the catfish with succotash, it was well done and he was happy. We ended with the coconut cream pie, which was very tasty, sadly though the crust was deficient in texture. The service was adequate, though our table was set what I assumed was an emergency exit, that apparently wasn’t so frozen breezes punctuated our meal a few times. The atmosphere is open, modern and had reasonable noise levels.

   food very tastey. creative. best cornbread in the north - only real cornbread in the north. fried okra not on the menu, but i asked for a plate. they accomodated me. everyone love the food out of 4 of us. THE WOMAN WHO WAS OUR SERVER WAS OUTSTANDING. attentive, friendly and accomodating

    Good food, good drinks, good service. Not plain enough for my kids to enjoy. Good, but not a great value for money.
