Diner Reviews
  • "A very typical nice steakhouse with a relaxed vibe and decent food."

  • "We had the prime rib which was done to perfection with garlic mash potatoes fantastic meal. Service was great and very accommodating since hubby wanted steak frit fries instead of garlic mash potatoes."

  • "We booked the restaurant with the Mirvish Hotel Package. The restaurant is part of the Sheraton Hotel so very convenient. No need to go outside and look elsewhere. We had the Salmon which came with garlic mashed and roasted vegetables. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the meal and presentation were. I would certainly eat here again. It has more of an upscale Pub feel to the restaurant. I would make reservations to be sure to get a table."

  • "I've eaten at Quinn's ~8 times in the past 3 years when staying in Toronto. I am partial to the air-dried, aged beef. The best ever was the air-dried rib steak several years ago but the current NY strip steak is excellent as well. I also like the Lamb Shank in beer: nicely done without much frippery. My wife also likes the chicken dishes. The Scotch list is superb at decent prices... if only they had better glasses for enjoying these exotic gems! Service has always been very good to excellent. I've eaten as one person and recently hosted a party of eight with excellent results. I recommend Quinn's to my friends who travel/stay in the downtown core. It's more an older type of restaurant and very comfortable for that."

  • "My wife and I go to Quinn's 3 or 4 times a year and always enjoy the food (best bread pudding on the planet), service and overall atmosphere. This time when we arrived, we were led to the bowels of the restaurant and seated at a bizarre, cramped booth for 2. I have to say in my 40+ years of experiencing restaurants, I have never been seated in such a horrible and uncomfortable space. The tabletop was cracked down the middle, a lamp was glued in the centre and it became a game to move things around on the table to take a drink or cut my food. My wife didn't want me to complain so I bit my tongue, even though I made subtle hints to the server (please no bread, there's no room for it). He was inattentive, and missed on several items."

  • "The service and food that my wife and I had was fantastic !!! My wife had the salmon and I the Prime Rib. With the veggies and Garlic Mashed Potatoes they were both fantastic. The wine and Beer selections was great. If you are a whiskey drink you'll be in Heaven's Heaven at this place. There is not enough god things I would be able to say about Quinns you'll just have to give it a go and you'll not be disappointed."

  • "The wait staff was excellent and a joy to converse with. The food was perfect right down to the dessert. The most disappointing part of the evening was the noise level from an over served patron at the bar which was corrected after he left halfway through our dinner. The tables surrounding us were also not impressed based on their overheard comments. He was replaced by another loud drinker who I later found out was an employee of the bar who frequented the bar every night. Nice place to be but ask for a table as far away from the bar as possible."

  • "We wanted a place with ambiance and very good food that would be close to the Four Seasons. The show was at 7:30 and we wanted a relaxing, not rushed, meal. We experienced the whole package. The food and service was lovely. We will be back next time we are in Toronto."

  • "It was an extraordinary experience. I definitely would recommend this restaurant to everyone - the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was wonderful."

  • "the Ribeye was amazing, service was prompt considering it was valentines day and they were pretty full for the night. But they more than accommodated for my group of 5 (none of us valentine day people)"

  • "Food was really good but the service was rushed! Barely finished one course before the next one was brought......kitchen staff were extremely loud.............."

  • "My friend and I went to Quinn's for winterlicious and we had a great time! App - Corn Chowder The balance of sweet and savoury was perfect Entree - Cod The cod was cooked very well and tasted very fresh The Wasabi mashed potatoes were not my favourite - seemed a little bit out of place Dessert - NY Cheesecake with Raspberry coulis DELICIOUS - I could have eaten another The service was fantastic! Our server happily brought me out regular garlic mash after finding that I wasn't enjoying my meal. The staff also helped me coordinate a last minute birthday surprise for my friend - complete with a sparkler and singing :) We had such a good experience and would definitely return for the regular menu"

  • "It has been a while since I went to a restaurant where everything was great. The food, the martini, the ambience and service. Being Winterlicious the price was good as well."

  • "I had the Steak Frites and my girlfriend had the bacon-wrapped tenderloin. Both were unbelievable! So much flavor, extremely well cooked! Staff was friendly and the service was fast! A great meal indeed!"

  • "Ended up having to take our dessert to go because they took so long to bring it to us. Waitress was too busy chatting with other staff members. Even when we approached them that we needed to take it to go, it took forever to bring it to us."

  • "Service was fast for Winterlicious. We had a party of 7 for lunch and six of us got our entrees at pretty much the same time and the last person waited only another minute or so. A word of warning if you are going to order steak - for the cooking insructions, make sure you order one level ABOVE what you want. e.g. Medium Rare - order Medium Two people in our party had corners of the steak that were pretty bloody for medium or medium rare and they had to ask them for new ones. Waiter was pretty good about it and told us they usually cook them slightly lower than what you ask for. I really recommend the corn chowder soup as an appetizer. We all had the Steak & Frites for $20 (great deal since regular price is $19 just for the steak)."

  • "We had an amazing meal for a Saturday night date night. Started with the warm mushroom salad which I would highly recommend. For the mains we had the surf and turf and New York steak, both were perfectly cooked and delicious."

  • "Went for 2014 Winterlicious dinner and had the corn chowder, the bacon wrapped steak and the brownie. The corn chowder was watery and the corn was not properly pureeed. The steak was overcooked and very tough. The mashed potatoes were not creamy. The veggies were a little too oily but at least edible. The pecan brownie was terrible! I am a big dessert fan and this was an even more terrible end to a less than mediocre meal. The brownie tasted like cardboard. It was dry, cold and hard. It was tasteless and not sweet at all which I expect a dessert to be. It was clear that this came straight from a box. The portion was also very small and so it should have been accompanied with ice cream. I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "Made arrangements for a lunch meeting and we were easily accommodated. One previous visit here and had the Irish Stew ... so good we came back and the entire table ordered it. Very good and dare I say it will be back for more stew on my next visit. It's worth the visit for just that alone. Meeting table at the back served our purpose very well."

  • "i know, not saying much... I found the food good, (prime rib burger) but not worth the price. Quinn's is really just glorified pub food. so if you like the idea of a basic pub environment and a steak, all at a four star restaurant pricepoint, this is the place for you."

  • "I had heard of this restaurant before but not dined there. My husband and I decided to go there before attending the opera one evening. It was extremely convenient on a very cold winter night to park at the City Hall underground and walk inside to Quinns. We had shrimp cocktail appetizer, steak and prime rib and dessert. All were extremely tasty, well presented and well priced. The restaurant included photos of past mayors of Toronto as well as Irish and pub themed decor. The COC is just a short block away. I would definitely recommend to others and expect to go back again."

  • "Quinn's is my favourite pre-theatre restaurant. Service is attentive and efficient. The Mirvish fixed price menu is great value. The prime rib is excellent."
    Dined on 1/23/2014
  • "We really only chose this restaurant because we had a coupon for a prix fixe meal. As per other OT members our food was under cooked, you would think a steakhouse would know exactly how to cook a steak, my husbands steak had to be sent back (we were not compted as other members were). My prime rib was also under but edible. Everything was just ok, good I guess for a pub?? Service was only given a good. our waiter was great but there was no sign of a hostess for at least 5 minutes when we walked in, and even then she didnt show up, a waitress had to seat us. The drinks were good, so maybe its great if you only go to the bar."

  • "My tuna was not rare but well done and fortunately was compted. Everyone else, s dinner was fabulous. Good to see gavin again as we had not seen him since before christmas. Would like to bring our friends for winterlicious. Can your chef do seafood as well as his steaks? Let us know and we, ll reserve if chef can comply. Hugs to all susan and mark mckay"

  • "Good menu and wine list, service is fast, so we find this a great spot to dine before concerts at Roy Thomson Hall. The dining room is quieter, but there is a busy bar, too."

  • "went to Quinn's on New Year's Eve before the fireworks at Nathan Phillips Square (across the street). It was a very nice experience. We ordered from the prix fixe menu. One salmon, one prime rib. Both were great. Might have preferred a little more time to enjoy a drink before food started to arrive, but that is a minor quibble. Overall, a good experience."

  • "This was our first time @ Qunn's and I have to say we were all very impressed. The entire 3 course meal was very tasty and the prices for New Years could not be beat! Our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had. The entire dining experience was great!"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant and we loved it! My husband had the filet mignon and I had the top sirloin and both were cooked to perfection!!!"

  • "The highlight of our visit was the superlative service from your young waitress. No struggling actress, no part-time student, no EI waiting to build up credits. She had trained in hospitality and enjoyed her work. And it showed. Conversation, efficient, sensed the casual timing we were in the mood for and never rushed us, even as her shift neared its end. Surely she must have been an Irish lass!"

  • "Friendly fast service during the Christmas lunch rush. Nice Ambiance. Food was just OK. Had the Goat's cheese salad with the Flat Iron steak. Salad was very good, steak tasted delicious but was so tough you could not eat it. My friend's ribs were not fall-off-the-bone but tasty. Another friend had the same steak and his was tough too. HOWEVER the restaurant made good, we were not charged for the steak and they gave us all free desserts and coffee, I would definitely give it a go again because of the way they made it up to us."

  • "Only complaint is that it took a while to get our bill, which is a little frustrating if you are on a lunch schedule. Otherwise recommended."

  • "Steak was ordered medium rare but was half way between blue and rare. Very chewy... Fries were great and the bread was cold. Very unfortunate as I had previously heard such great things about the restaurant."

  • "An excellent overall experience. Good food, excellent service."

  • "Went to the dining room an anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time for the first half of our night. After appetizers a drunken group of half a dozen middle aged conference attendees from the hotel proceeded to cause a disruption without any reprimand of the staff. I would NOT go back to this establishment."

  • "Pretty good food and reasonably priced relative to other steakhouses we have been to in the area. Would go here again if staying in the immediate vicinity, but not a destination restaurant. Service was quite friendly and prompt and the décor is really cool, creating a pretty good spot for a group of people to go out for a good meal and not break the bank in the process."

  • "Had a nice dinner with my girlfriend. We were a little worried when we came in the door as Shopsy's is essentially the same entrance and we weren't sure we were entering a nice dining establishment or not. As we walked to where we were eating we were relieved that it was in fact a nice restaurant. We found the food to be excellent. The service was ok, but could have been a lot better. I didn't get asked once by our server if I wanted a refill on my beer or water. All in all though a nice dining experience."

  • "A great steakhouse with elegance and style. Food is well prepared and presented. Extensive drinks menu - especially single malt and Irish Whiskeys."

  • "We began with the Charcuterie and cheese board. A great start to a lovely dinner! We both had the Steak Frites and we're not disappointed! Often, a flat iron steak can be a little on the tough side or gristly but these were very tender and seasoned perfectly. The fries were perfectly done and the lemon aioli was amazing! The portion size was perfect. In fact I regret we didn't have room for dessert. All in all I would definitely come back to Quinn's!"

  • "I have dined here several times on weekends, and the food was always fresh and delicious. I was disappointed with my meal on Monday. I will certainly return to Quinn's, but never again early in the week. A great spot nonetheless."
