From the specialty cocktails to the Simply Prepared selections to the Entrees you can't make a bad choice. The only place that could use some improvement would be the rather limited beer selection. Chicago offers some great local craft beers that would go well with with menu items but unfortunately they are not available. We went last Friday and were pleasantly surprised that it was busy but not jammed. Sat in the library for a drink and then moved into the Pump Room bar before dinner. Fun and fashionable crowd. Went for dinner on a Sunday with my family. The dinning room is beautifully decorated and the glowing orbs hanging from the ceiling gave it a nice feel. The server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered mostly according to his recommendations. I took halibut and my son had the pork chop. The fish was a bit on the bland side and the sauce for the pork chop was too strong. The dining room itself manages to be sleek, modern and magical at the same time. The well trained staff not only exhibited unusual care and concern for our well being, but also delivered each course with pride and precision.

The sommelier was also amazing. He typed his favorite wines into our iPhones so we could try them, and his suggestions were perfect. The Pump Room has some sofa-type seating which I knew they would not be comfortable in, and it's also quite noisy (because it's popular and crowded), so I asked for a quieter table with regular chairs for my parents. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating, first finding us a table near the back that fit the bill, and then actually coming back to let us know a quieter booth in the very back had opened up and asking if we were interested in moving to that table. We were and the table we moved to turned out to be Frank Sinatra's old booth which was a kick for my parents. Our waitress and the other servers were also attentive and the food was delicious.
