  • "Love the option of unlimited bloody Mary's or mimosa's. The brunch is excellent but would love to have crackers with the cheese. Lots of food especially if you add an entree-I had the crab/lobster cake eggs benedict. It was delicious! The sax player at the brunch was so good and added to my enjoyment of the meal."

  • "This was our third trip to ProAbition and it is getting better every time. The food was much better on this trip than it has been in the past. The service was much better too. The prices are a bit high, and there are other places that offer a better value for the money. The only disappointment this time was the confusion over the menu we were choosing from and that the staff did not check us in for our reservation. When we came home, there were phone calls and emails asking us why we did not honor our reservation and I had to spend time calling and writing to explain that we did. If you are looking for a hot spot hang out, this is it. If you are looking for unique food that is a good price for the money, this is not the place for you."

  • "Our server (Briana, I think was her name) was well versed in both the food and drinking menu. We decided to essentially let her order for us and she nailed it! From the cocktails to our meals, the experience was amazing! We live about an hour away and were in town to see a concert, we would definitely plan another date night to ProAbition for certain. Next time we look forward to bringing friends!"

  • "I love the "speakeasy" feel of the place, the lighting, decor and atmosphere here. The food was pretty good but pricey (happy hour appetizer menu was great), and our server was very nice. What was a real put-off, though, was a "rule" about not being able to get happy hour prices in the back dining are during happy hour. It wasn't crowded, the hostess sat us there, we got settled in - and THEN she mentioned "oh, you can't have happy hour prices here." So from one room to the next they can't give what's advertised? We moved tables and had a nice time, but this put a bad taste in our mouth - strange management rule."

  • "Loved the fact that I could make a reservation online. Even got a call reminding me of the reservation. They asked me to return their call, which I did; however, I was put on hold for an extended period of time. Since I was nearby when I made the call, I walked over to the host & told him I had been on hold so long I thought I'd return the call in person. To his credit, he was extremely apologetic and advised that they were short-staffed that evening. Totally commendable. We ate outside and the food was exceptional. I would highly recommend this establishment. We ate there after we had been to a play at the Fox Theater and it was nice that it is totally within walking distance."

  • "First time there, sat outside on the Patio because it was a really nice day and the outside patio is great. Right on the street, lots of European charm. Family birthday for older parent and it was an excellent choice. grandkids enjoyed it also. teenagers. Food is more than ample and the blue cheese fries are worth the trip there for sure. And then the food just got better with every order. A nice touch to end the luncheon was the sparkling firework candle in the middle of the house desert. A definite GO on this place. Will be back!"

  • "I loved everything about ProAbition, from the live 3 piece group playing to the decorations. I loved the theme it was antique with some mardigra. The food was excellent. The flavors all so rich and deliscious. This place was perfect I was with a group of 5 and we all had a good time. This place is perfect for downtown Riverside. It's sophysticated and for dinner it's more of a crowd of people from late 20-s to early 50's."

  • "The dinner was very good. The pork chop was excellent and the whiskey chicken that my wife had was also very good. Considering a new chef had just begun, the menu was great and the food was very good. While waiting for our table the bar area is a negative. Very poor service, not enough seating, no cocktail waitress and the two guys at the bar were not friendly at all. If that would have been the total experience I would not recommend this restaurant. But the meal saved the evening. Something for management to deal with is the bar area, seating and support to make your wait more positive."

  • "Spent a delightful evening at ProAbition with our son and daughter-in-law while visiting them recently in Riverside. We had a wonderful waitress who did everything possible to make our evening enjoyable. The food was great - we each had a different dish and everyone loved theirs. The bread pudding was delicious which we all shared. We will definitely return here next time we are in Riverside."

  • "Having never been here before we weren't sure what to do when we were seated but our waiter quickly came to the table and explained everything. All food was great and the smoked salmon was exceptionally delicious. The lighting over the breakfast buffet was colored and a bit dim so it was a little difficult to see what was available. One of the members at our table ordered a Bloody Mary and was served a half full glass of ice and vodka. We were very confused until we hailed down the waiter and he said to go to the self serve Bloody Mary bar. It was a little off-putting as none of us are a bartender and prefer our drinks served ready to go. I give this place an A+, will recommend, and plan on returning to try their lunch/dinner options!!"

  • "I chose this spot for nostalgia reasons. My grandmother made her fortune during proabition. When I saw the name, I instantly thought of her and smiled. The mysic, the ambience and the service was, very enjoyable. The waiters were gracious and informative. Their recommendations for our food selection, did not dissapoint. The wonderful food was a great plus to the great name of your establisment. The brandied peach cobbler and the bread pudding should be criminal. We look forward to dining with you again."

  • "The 909 Scooter Club had lunch there on 1-18-14 and we had a party of 20 people. We were treated extremely well by both the manager James and our server Brian. They were both constantly checking on our party and making sure everyone was happy and taken care of. I can't say enough about Brian! He was just awesome! He was very personable, friendly and attentive and even obliged our request for separate checks. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food tremendously and were happy that we chose ProAbition for our lunch location. I had the ProAbition burger and bleu cheese fries, delicious and highly recommended! I also recommend having your meal on the patio as there is a view of the Mission Inn."

  • "They have a great live musician with some comedy in the main dining room. We walked through it a couple of times and I could hear it from the bar, but we sat in the bar and patio therefore not enjoying that so much. Still, the bar scene was decent (a bit packed during happy hour) and the patio also offered patrons a spot to enjoy some good conversation. The menu was good and the food we ordered was decent to delish. I would definitely return here with another group!"

  • "They were turning customers away without reservations, so was busy. We had the filet mignon and the salmon dish. Both were nicely presented and were delicious. The menu was small, but I find that means the food is good, individually prepared and hopefully not out of the freezer or prepared in a factory in Arizona. They had a nice outside area and the seating inside was comfortable, but light, bright and not particularly romantic, but a good place to have a celebration."

  • "My husband and I sat outside on the patio for lunch. We loved the comfy cushioned bench and the throw pillows, very relaxing. We ordered the pork mac n cheese to start with, and it was delicious. My husband ordered the Bootlegger burger and I ordered the Prohabition burger and shared them. They were both wonderful. I also ordered the bleu cheese fries, and if you like bleu cheese, I highly recommend them! We are already planning on going back to Prohabition soon to try their Sunday Brunch."

  • "Pretentious food, they really need to simplify I like the idea they were going for but they had poor execution You can still create gastro food without over complicating it Drinks were overpriced and small There was not a thing for children to eat. Even the 'plain' Mac and cheese was super spicy Maybe good for a bar but even then I probably wouldn't have more than one or two before I moved on to the next place."

  • "Had a nice holiday lunch with my team-mates at Proabition. The atmosphere is very cool, like an old speakeasy from the 1920s. Love the attention to detail. The food was very, very good! And the prices are not too bad. I would say moderate. Since it was a work lunch didn't get an opportunity to try the whiskeys or wine. Maybe next time! Recommend. I'll definitely go again!"

  • "Four of us dined at 5:30. The decor of the place fit the "prohibition" period and was a fun change from formal dining spots. We enjoyed eating and talking until the 4 piece band started to play at 6:30. They had horns that blasted the dining room and made it almost impossible to be heard around the table. Music was good but too loud for dining. Either start playing later or have something less invasive for dining. Blue cheese fries were delicious as were the salads (large enough to split). Scallops were chewy; chicken small portion; steak and short ribs were okay. The bar looked fun and lively. Might just do drinks and appetizers/salads if we go back. Won't be returning any time soon. Reservations recommended,"

  • "We had a party of 7 and made reservations 3 weeks in advance for a Saturday evening. The locations is great in the mist of it all, downtown Riverside is energetic and beautiful during the month of December (X-Mas) at night. They had a nice little outdoor dinning patio with heat lamps, but it was too cold for us in our dresses. The ambiance was nice and food was great (everyone was satisfied with their entrees).They also have live band and the restaurant turns into a lounge at night. My and everyone at our table's complaint was the "long wait" for service and our waiter forgot our bread while all the other tables coming in after got theirs. We didn't get ours till all our entrees were served and we had to request some."

  • "We were in Riverside during the Festival of Lights, and were looking for someplace to eat. All other restaurants were 2-3 hour wait times, but this place had an immediate opening (though it was pretty full). So we went for it. Bad choice--service was slow and non-responsive. Bread arrived after 20 minutes, appetizers were late, and the main entrees were not very good. However, nice mixed drinks. Probably a great place to have some late night drinks where you can sit down."

  • "Wear you beret and join the fun at ProAbition! We weren't "in the know" , but found ourselves enjoying the vibe and fun feel of this great little restaurant. The service was good, they don't rush you here, and the food was fun and very tasty. There was great prohibition era music playing overhead, and then a band started in and really lent the place a great touch. Dine late, and make sure you're inside, it's a fun, adult oriented place to be! The blue cheese French fries they serve as appetizers were delicious, as was the whiskey chicken, and the ProAbition burger, but watch out for the horseradish sauce, it's good but packs a punch!"

I wanted a nice restaurant with live music but all the restaurants in Riverside were too expensive for the ratings that were on yelp. If we are going to spend good money, we want excellence, not mediocre. From the moment we walked in the door and were seated, we were impressed with the ambience. Our reservations were at 6:45 and we were ushered to our table immediately. Our server was excellent... Great attention to detail. The food was fantastic, beginning at the appetizers to the dinner entrees. Drinks had the right mix of alcohol.The band was fantastic! A word of caution: Make reservations because you won't want to leave. This place is not for cheapskates!"

  • "We sat outside bc our party was large (7) so we didn't get to hear/see the entertainment. The food took a long time to be served and when it came out we got our food at different times and far apart. We arrived at 6 & got our first served food at 7. When we did get plate , it was delicious. Our show began at 730, so we missed the beginning. I would recommend this place if you have 2+ hrs to enjoy your dinner."
