Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was excellent as always. This visit, a deconstructed tiramisu stood out. I hope that stays on the menu. Definitely hard to resist!"

  • "I found the food is ordinary. I was hoping the food to be above average. I had much better mussels in many restaurants."
    Dined on 8/19/2014
  • "Rude hostesses, lukewarm eggs, dreadful table (we made reservations days in advance), was so hoping for an enjoyable brunch, instead…couldn't wait to get out of the place."
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "The experience was marred by poor service. We were there for brunch and needed to meet friends at an appointed time. It should not take 15 minutes to get a check."

  • "When my gluten-free friend and her husband came to visit, we knew we had to try Posana. Having never dined there before, we weren't sure what we were getting into, but the online menu looked promising, and we love the middle-of-the-action location downtown. Our gluten-free-friend was ecstatic to indulge in the lobster mac-and-cheese, bread sticks, hamburger complete with bun, and tiramisu. Gluten free fine dining at its best. Thank you, Posana. You have some new faithful followers and brought pure joy to at least one table of four."

  • "We came here on our 1st anniversary weekend and found this to be a delightful experience. Be willing to spend some money and you'll get some amazing food options. The game plan here is to purchase 4-5 small plates and share it between 2 in order to get the full-experience. Chorizo wrapped in Chips is amazing! And worth ordering twice."

  • "really nice place. price-value was great. food was terrific (good draft beers :)). Service could have been a little better. Only issue was my wife had the burger, and candidly, the gluten free bun was well, gluten free, and not as tasty as a bun made with the stuff that's bad for you. but the rest of the burget and our meals were really good. we would absolutely go back."

  • "My husband and I went to Posana for dinner to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. It was such a pretty, romantic place, and we loved that it was 100% gluten free and uses organic and local ingredients. We will definitely be back."

  • "All gluten free menu and the food was great. We love Asheville and Posana is now our favorite restaurant ! Our server was personable--ask for Che. We ran late on our reservations and they called us to make sure we were coming."

  • "We are so thankful to have a completely GF restaurant in Asheville! Having several celiacs in the family means we have somewhere to go for special occasions! Dinner was wonderful despite dining outside on a rainy night (our choice). Service is always a priority here. Thanks for a great celebration dinner!"

  • "My wife has celiac and was very excited to find a nice restaurant that was completely gluten-free. Everything in this restaurant is safe. The food was very good and we will definitely be going back again. This place is a must for anyone who suffers from gluten allergies, sensitivities, or celiac disease."

  • "This is a gem of a restaurant for us! Consistently good food and great service. They make a great Old Fashion drink with bourbon that is wonderful. I am a huge fan."

  • "Having had their Sunday brunch earlier in the year, we were sure to plan for a dinner visit when in town this time around! The all-gluten-free menu had our attention and the entrees were savory and good. Of particular interest were the shrimp and grits. Recommended. The desserts were better than we'd hope. In fact...fantastic! We ended up getting three and passing them around between us, they were so good. Posada will be a regular stop on all future Asheville visits."

  • "Great food and wonderful service. Had a window table and made for great people watching. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!"

  • "First time visit to Posana, and it was a great experience. Service was outstanding, the outdoor dining was very nice, yet not noisy (on an especially busy Saturday night in Asheville!). Food was excellent; the Fried Green tomatoes were great, the braised short rib was delicious! Highly recommend Posana!"

  • "You are quickly informed of how the restaurant is gluten free, organic, serving local farm to table produce, but then, find disappointing dishes due to those facts. The mac in the Lobster Mac and Cheese does not resemble food. The gourmet burger is served on a bun that tastes like cardboard. Other dishes may turn out just fine, but for me, I'll stick to the gluten."

  • "I hadn't been to Posana for a couple of years. I hardly recognized it from the transformed decor. To be honest, I liked the old place better. The new decor is very glitzy and seemed like it belonged in another city. It is over the top for funking Asheville. The service was VERY slow, granted it was a busy Friday night. We waited close to an hour for our entree to be served. My partner's salmon was melt in your mouth delicious. My pork chop with grilled peaches was flavorful, but very chewy. Not sure I'll be back."

  • "Great find. Entire menu is gluten free. Service was excellent. We will definitely return on our next trip back to Asheville."

  • "Everything about this place is first class, from the food to details of table settings. Some of my family have celiac disease and this is one of the few places on the planet you don't have to worry about gluten."

  • "My best friend is allergic to gluten, so for her bachelorette party I was STOKED to find Posana Cafe! Everything there (minus the local beer) is gluten free! Now, I'm a gluten-eater, and usually don't like gluten-free dishes. However, I was more than pleased with my meal. When you walk in you are seated in an extremely well decorated dining room or the patio, which is in the heart of downtown Asheville. You are served an endless supply of some of the softest water you've ever tasted. All of the appetizers are DELICIOUS and they provide enough for the table. Our server was excellent and very friendly and always willing to make recommendations. For a nice restaurant, the wait staff was surprisingly personable (not stuck up)."

  • "The two best parts of my experience at Posana's was the service and how beautiful the restaurant is. However, the noise level is extremely over-whelming. I could not have a conversation with the person across from me, at a two top. My food tasted okay, but was barely warm. The two entrees were nothing special. The presentation of the chicken dish was very messy. The tables are so close together, when I tried to sit down, I barely was able to squeeze into my seat (117lbs/5'7"). When the man seated behind me was getting up, he hit the back of my chair so hard, my stomach hit the table. Good thing I wasn't drinking anything at the time, surely my teeth would have hit the glass. I was just very disappointed in my whole experience to be honest."

  • "Having Celiac disease, I was thrilled to find a restaurant that is 100% gluten free. I haven't had fried green tomatoes in years, and the ones at Posana are delicious. Food was great and the service was excellent. The liquor prices are very reasonable also."

  • "Posana's service was excellent. The kale salad was delicious as was the Brie salad. The lobster Mac and cheese was filling and good. The restaurant was loud but most are."

  • "We go to Posana fairly regularly, and we love it! It is always consistently excellent. The new decor is great, and our waiter was very pro."

  • "Going to Posana has become a ritual during my trips to Asheville. This time I was especially impressed by the service: We called in to add two people to our original reservation for six people, and although they originally said they would have to "squeeze us in" at a table for six, ultimately the manager stepped in and rearranged some reservations (and hence, some tables) so that our group could have more space. That really touched and impressed all of us."

  • "Wonderful experience. My grown San Francisco based son was so excited to be able to order without questioning everything. From excellent appetizers to my Pork chops with roasted stone fruits, his salmon to wonderful desserts, everything was wonderful. The chef has an excellent way with putting things together so you get what you think you ordered but with a few pleasant surprises. Service was top notch but not obtrusive."

  • "We have become regulars at Posana. All food and service is of a high standard. Peter and crew are innovative without stepping away from mainstream selections. Will not disappoint."

  • "Food was thoughtfully sourced and well-prepared. Delicious and plated beautifully. Safe environment for the celiac or gluten-sensitive. Server was friendly and skilled. Restaurant décor was elegant without being stuffy. Will definitely be going back whenever I am in Asheville. Positive experience all around."

  • "We really enjoyed our experience Fried tomatoes were unbelievable Salad was great Hamburgers were cooked perfectly Thought the desert menu was rather limited"

  • "What an enjoyable evening we had at this fine restaurant. Everyone at our table commented how good the food and their overall experience was. If you didn't know that the entire restaurant was gluten free you couldn't tell from the quality of the food. We will be back soon."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "We love this place, and not only because it is gluten-free. Their creative menu, excellent drinks and friendly service have made every trip here a good one. Our service this trip was not rapid, and I think our server was less experienced than some. Brunch was just great. Highly recommended."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "we had appetizers, salads, main dishes (no room for dessert). everything was delicious. you will never go wrong by choosing this place to eat. it does not have anything for children. the only problem was on saturday night there is a loud party in the park next door. this made outside dinning less than pleasant."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "We had three appetizers, three entrees and two desserts. The food was comparable to our favorite restaurants in Charleston, and that's saying a mouthful."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "This was a great find. Best Kale salad we've ever had. You'd never know but it turns out it's 100% gluten free too for those who have the need. Highly recommended!"

  • "Read great reviews on Posana, unfortunately our experience didn't measure up to the experience of others. We had the sweetbread and chicken confit appetizers, which were both bland and disappointing. Our entrees were good but not spectacular. The desserts were OK. Overall it wasn't a bad experience just not as good as many of the other restaurants in Asheville. We probably won't be back."
