Diner Reviews
  • "The two best parts of my experience at Posana's was the service and how beautiful the restaurant is. However, the noise level is extremely over-whelming. I could not have a conversation with the person across from me, at a two top. My food tasted okay, but was barely warm. The two entrees were nothing special. The presentation of the chicken dish was very messy. The tables are so close together, when I tried to sit down, I barely was able to squeeze into my seat (117lbs/5'7"). When the man seated behind me was getting up, he hit the back of my chair so hard, my stomach hit the table. Good thing I wasn't drinking anything at the time, surely my teeth would have hit the glass. I was just very disappointed in my whole experience to be honest."

  • "Posana's service was excellent. The kale salad was delicious as was the Brie salad. The lobster Mac and cheese was filling and good. The restaurant was loud but most are."

  • "We go to Posana fairly regularly, and we love it! It is always consistently excellent. The new decor is great, and our waiter was very pro."

  • "Going to Posana has become a ritual during my trips to Asheville. This time I was especially impressed by the service: We called in to add two people to our original reservation for six people, and although they originally said they would have to "squeeze us in" at a table for six, ultimately the manager stepped in and rearranged some reservations (and hence, some tables) so that our group could have more space. That really touched and impressed all of us."

  • "Our server was excellent, the food was great and the restaurant was hopping."

  • "We have become regulars at Posana. All food and service is of a high standard. Peter and crew are innovative without stepping away from mainstream selections. Will not disappoint."

  • "Food was thoughtfully sourced and well-prepared. Delicious and plated beautifully. Safe environment for the celiac or gluten-sensitive. Server was friendly and skilled. Restaurant décor was elegant without being stuffy. Will definitely be going back whenever I am in Asheville. Positive experience all around."

  • "We really enjoyed our experience Fried tomatoes were unbelievable Salad was great Hamburgers were cooked perfectly Thought the desert menu was rather limited"

  • "What an enjoyable evening we had at this fine restaurant. Everyone at our table commented how good the food and their overall experience was. If you didn't know that the entire restaurant was gluten free you couldn't tell from the quality of the food. We will be back soon."

  • "We love this place, and not only because it is gluten-free. Their creative menu, excellent drinks and friendly service have made every trip here a good one. Our service this trip was not rapid, and I think our server was less experienced than some. Brunch was just great. Highly recommended."

  • "we had appetizers, salads, main dishes (no room for dessert). everything was delicious. you will never go wrong by choosing this place to eat. it does not have anything for children. the only problem was on saturday night there is a loud party in the park next door. this made outside dinning less than pleasant."

  • "We had three appetizers, three entrees and two desserts. The food was comparable to our favorite restaurants in Charleston, and that's saying a mouthful."

  • "This was a great find. Best Kale salad we've ever had. You'd never know but it turns out it's 100% gluten free too for those who have the need. Highly recommended!"

  • "Read great reviews on Posana, unfortunately our experience didn't measure up to the experience of others. We had the sweetbread and chicken confit appetizers, which were both bland and disappointing. Our entrees were good but not spectacular. The desserts were OK. Overall it wasn't a bad experience just not as good as many of the other restaurants in Asheville. We probably won't be back."

  • "The hostess seated us promptly and we were greeted with water at the table. Ordered the kale salad- best in town- for the first item. The grilled Scottish salmon was tasty"

  • "A very nice location for people watching and spirit lifting. The food was good but the main course was the view out onto the busy plaza. I'd recommend it for drinks and fun with a good date or group."

  • "Wrong appetizer served;had to wait 15 minutes for the correct one to be brought out. Two of us ordered the pork chop but my husband wanted his rarer than I did. When our plates were served, he got the more done chop and I got the less done one. The chef cooked both perfectly, but we should not have to start eating to realize that we were served the wrong plates. My husband had already eaten most of my chop, figuring that his request for a rarer chop did not happen. When I cut into my chop I saw that it was much rarer, so I passed it over to him. How hard is it to make sure that the correct plate is given to each diner? There were only 3 of us. Finally, we were charged for both appetizers, the one we ordered and the one we didn't. Grr."

  • "With a special watermelon margarita to start, all seemed to bode well for dinner. We were not disappointed. After a long hot day, I chose a light meal beginning with a kale salad followed with the lobster Mac and cheese from the appetizer menu. Both were perfect. The kale was hearty but with no sharp edge (thanks to lemon juice, said our waiter), and dressed lightly so that the greens could be enjoyed. The Mac and cheese had a generous portion of lobster meat in a creamy, seafood sauce. Although I thought that I was too full to eat another bite, I couldn't say no to an olive oil lemon cake. And I nearly licked my plate."

  • "This restaurant was recommended by a friend who knew that we liked Asheville. We will definitely add it to our list of Asheville favorites. We had one of the specials for dinner Friday night and then returned for brunch on Sunday. Both times, the food was very good and the wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful."

  • "We love Asheville's downtown restaurants and our recent visit to Posana Cafe made it our new favorite! Service matched any fine dining establishments we've been to, and each dish was wonderful. We loved the kale salad (I've not been a big fan of kale in general, but the server was kind enough to share some of the preparation tricks, so I'm eager to try at home), Forbidden Rice (wow!), breadsticks, and of course, the entrees: Jerk Rubbed Tofu and Ashley Farms Chicken. We will return to Posana as often as possible!"

  • "We drive 2.5 hrs just to come to Posana. All of their food is gluten free and delicious! They have homemade sticky buns, muffins and scones during brunch which are fabulous."

  • "We chose this restaurant because it was on USA Today's top 10 list of places in Asheville. For an Italian restaurant we were surprised to find that they had not one single pasta dish. A lot of us ordered the short ribs which came with gnocchi. It was the hardest and most unsavory attempt at pasta we've ever tasted. It was solid, dense and did not resemble the fluffy hand made pieces we were expecting. The meat was cooked well and the taste was good. Unfortunately, the place did not live to our expectations."

  • "We were very excited to find this spot on our vacation to Asheville. My sister is gluten-sensitive and so it was lovely to find a restaurant where she could eat practically *anything* on the menu. Not to mention, even if we hadn't known about the gluten-free options, our dining experience was fantastic. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very interesting. Would highly recommend."

  • "Both the service and the food were outstanding. We had no worries about gluten free entrees, and the choices were plentiful. Will return to this eatery. Thank you."

  • "We chose this restaurant because of needing to accommodate someone with celiac disease. In all our travels this is the first all gluten free full service restaurant we've ever come across and we were in awe about that. Well, what an unexpected bonus was what a great restaurant this is! The service was exceptional and the food was absolutely delicious! The food was perfectly seasoned, wonderfully imagined, and beautifully presented. And, wow, our celiac friend could pick anything on the menu! Highly recommended GF or not."

  • "Posana Cafe is our restaurant of choice for all occasions - birthday celebrations, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and any other day in between. The food is consistently excellent, the servers very pleasant and the gluten free kitchen makes this the safest -and only - restaurant that we can fully trust as a dining out experience. And their dinner burger is the best in town!"

  • "Watermelon gazpacho, peach and goat cheese salad and tender tasty short ribs were all delicious. Limited menu and wine list, but don't let that stop you."

  • "New decor, poor design.T he front door/receiving area is not large enough to accommodate incoming/waiting guests and exiting guests. New decor looks chosen from a restaurant design catalog. I have eaten there before, probably more than a year ago, and it has always been pretty good but the food was not good and some uneatable. Of 5 meals two were returned and we were not charged. The manager was very nice treated us kindly. But, that will not make me take another chance there."

  • "This restaurant gets it right. I have to eat gluten free; my husband does not. We both love this place. Creative flavors, beautiful presentation, fun atmosphere. When I go to Asheville for the weekend I eat every meal here!"

  • "My husband and I dined at Posana on a Friday based on an online recommendation for celiac dining in Asheville. If we hadn't seen that it was a 100% GF restaurant, we never would have known. The food was that amazing. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and was very knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, as well. The whole experience was so good that we went back for drinks on Saturday afternoon and brunch on Sunday morning before heading home. We highly recommend Posana to anyone looking for delicious food and drinks, fabulous service, and a vibrant atmosphere. Posana is the complete package."
