Diner Reviews
  • "Easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The Caprese salad appetizer and the crab cake appetizer are the best I have ever had. Additionally, the pasta, specifically the gnocchi, is "homemade" and has the most authentic and fresh flavor and texture. This was a great surprise before seeing Love!!"

  • "We had not dined at Portofino before and we were looking for a restaurant at the Mirage to eat at before we saw the Cirque du Solei (sp?) show. So we figured Italian suited everyone's taste and is always good- and we were so right! Their wine list is incredible and service was amazing! All of us really enjoyed our meals (they got veal, I got the filet). My girlfriend also LOVED her dessert (hazelnut bar). We would definitely dine there again! PS Don't be fooled by the front entrance. We though at first the place was empty and got a little worried- until we realized that it was just the bar/cocktail area and that the actual dining area was passed the bar into the back!"

  • "Nothing to recommend this (Italian) restaurant in a Vegas hotel (every hotel has at least one). Nice spot, very mediocre food; decent service. A funny story, however. Server asked if I'd like cracked pepper on my Caprese salad. I said "please." He turned the pepper shaker and my plate was soon covered with WHOLE peppercorns. He whisked the dish away and brought another."

  • "I've eaten there under the current name and the FKA, both times were enjoyable. They do the staples very well. Their pastas are well done. Bread is best I've had in town. Dig the gnocchi and caprese. The meatballs were great, too. I would go back again and again."

  • "Our experience at Portofino was excellent starting with making reservations right down to paying the bill after the meal. Very nice decor and ambience. Our reservation was fairly early so we could meet a theatre showtime start, and the staff was very responsive to this, so they were able to expedite the service accordingly. Excellent quality food with subtle, balanced seasoning. Top-shelf service, food quality and overall experience."

  • "Portofino turned out to be one of the best meals we've ever had. My wife and I each ordered the Burrata Agnolotti, ravioli-shaped pasta with lobster, chanterelle mushrooms and roasted corn butter. Unbelievable! Also nice is not hearing any of the roar of the casino or smelling any smoke. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing with soft lighting and a brilliant floral display in the center of the main room. You will love this place."

  • "The waiter was very in attentive never mentioning the special dishes of the nite, overheard later when he was telling some othe patrons. My husband requested something that he used to get there and the waiter said the new chef doesn't have a problem with special requests. Then while my husband was eating it he said "you better like it the chef went out of his way for you" well so what they charged us mega for it! Just found comment rude. Twent minutes to come back to find out if we wanted desert by that time didn't!?food very very salty, signature dish Osso Buco tough! Skip this pkace"

  • "Many people may remember eating here when it was called 'Onda' and I can assure you, you won't be disappointed if you eat at Portofino! The wine list is just as amazing as before and this new chef is even better! I was with a party of both seafood and non-seafood lovers and there were plenty of options and everyone loved what they ordered. Like myself, I've never been a gnocchi fan and yet after eating theirs, I am. . .it was so delicious, just melts in your mouth. And their lasagna is the most unique you will ever try. Add in the awesome staff and service (shout out to Mario, he was outstanding) and you will want to go back after eating here once! And, as if that wasn't incentive enough, the desserts are amazing!"

  • "I got married at the mirage and wanted an intimate dinner afterwards. I called and made a reservation requesting a table in the back. When we got there there put us in the middle of the restaurant and then we asked to move to another table. The host and another man were not very pleasant or cooperative at first. I had to move twice in my wedding dress :(. After my husband asked energetically for a table which was open and could accommodate us perfectly everything went smoothly. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive and polite ( maybe he should be the manager of portofino.) The food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant delightful. The food came a bit cold. All in all I had a good time."

  • "We were looking for a nice place to dine before the LOVE show. Portofino is so pretty inside! The staff was exceptional. We had Rocco as our server and I highly recommend requesting him as your server. He was very attentive and even brought the chef out to meet us after our meal. The food was exceptional. We both had the caprese salad and the burrata agnolotti which we loved. The mozzarella cheese and the lobster were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quiet, fine dining experience."

  • "We made reservations at Portofino/Onda for a pre-Cirque dinner. The food was excellent and our server Rocco was the best! It was a lovely dining experience. We would return."

  • "Very expensive and nothing subtle in the sauces. No refinement in the flavors in this much too conventional and heavy italian cuisine not worth your money."

  • "Dinner party for 10 to celebrate a birthday and an anniversary and we could not have asked for more. Service was fantastic, the food was fresh and thoughtful - traditional Italian classics and some fun variations on the menu. Accommodating space for our group and we enjoyed a visit from the chef. Our party enjoyed every dish served from salmon to filet to lasagna to a pasta with short ribs. All of it was amazing."

  • "Our group started off with a round of cocktails, good pour, perfectly mixed.....then on to dinner. The Burrata Agnolotti was superb pillows of pasta with a delicate sauce, a nice amount of lobster and perfectly sautéed mushrooms blended in. The Veal Osso Bucco was fall off the bone tender - served with a marrow spoon, as we are fans of roasted marrow. The Snapper which was bag poached in white wine, tomato, artichoke and olives was fresh and just cooked perfectly, overall a relaxed paced dinner that was enjoyed by all!"

  • "Very nice meal before the Terry Fator show. Asked for a booth and it was just what we got making a nice romantic atmosphere. Service was great -- waiter and everyone else knew all the details of each meal. Appetizers, main courses and dessert were all very tasty. Only complaint was the pasta could have been warmer and was almost gong to take a star away for the worse espresso and cappuccino. Recommend the crab cake risotto and Osso Bucco Di Vitello."

  • "Very attractive, quiet restaurant where you leave the casino behind. Food exceeded our expectations. Best ever caprese salad; fabulous osso bucco and tiramasou. Nicely paced. Good value considering Las Vegas prices. Would definitely return."

  • "This lovely Italian restaurant at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas is truly outstanding and the service is both gracious and impeccable...the Executive Chef prepared the Mirage's exceptional Lobster Bisque for us on special request because it was our long-time favorite at the former Kokomo's Restaurant at the Mirage. Then the Executive Chef graciously stopped by to welcome us and, indeed, we could see that other people dining in Onda noticed the Lobster Bisque we had which was served with it's signature puff pastry atop the hot bisque laden with pieces of lobster...a very spectacular presentation besides being gourmet heaven! And the other items on the menu were wonderful, too!"

  • "The ambience uninviting, dim, and too open for a quiet romantic dinner. The server did not introduce himself. We had several servers throughout dinner. The meal was far from fine dining. Overall, an unimpressive dining experience. We could not wait to finish and leave."

  • "I wouldn't have expected less from a reataurant that brags about handmade pastas made to order... and we were not disappointed. Besides the impecable service and attention to detail, what stood out was how they dealt with our particular situation. We arrived 20 minutes late (5:50p for a 5:30p reservation) because my wife decided to stop and buy a pair of shoes while walkig thru the Forum Shops at Caesar's. They took care of us as if we had arrived on time. What's more, they went out of their way to serve us promptly when I informed them we had tickets for a 7pm show. The food was first rate and the service did not miss a beat, all top quality. And at 7pm we were happily seated and listening to the opening bars of "All You Need is Love...""

  • "The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Pricing was too high for the quality. The waiter suggested an appetizer to share among the table that turned out to be $68 when the meals were priced at $30-$40. Who would think an appetizer would cost more than any of the meals? I had the same feeling of mediocre quality with Fin at The Mirage. Perhaps this is a trend with Mirage restaurants."

  • "Onda is amazing! It is tucked back in the corner of the Mirage Hotel and Casino so I don't know how much business they actually get. However, the atmosphere and food where phenomenal. You wouldn't know it by looking in at the bar, but once past the bar, the restaurant opens up into this inviting dining space. The food was excellent, the presentation was great, the wine was awesome. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Vegas."

  • "Well, it's not everyday that big restaurants make an impression on me. However, the staff over at Onda did an incredible job - from the service to the food to the wine... Chris, the GM, recently brought over Mike, the new chef, and they are doing some great stuff. The pastas are all hand make. The bone-in rib eye (a special) was incredible. They are very accommodating-allowing you to have smaller portions of their pastas so you can try several of them. All the food was fresh and very tasty. Their wine list was nice as well. And, their servers were knowledgeable and friendly. All in all...a great time. Thanks!"

  • "My husband had dinner prior to seeing Cirque Du Soleil's LOVE! The show was amazing and the meal was, too! This is a fabulous restaurant. We started with a ceasar salad and a lemon risotto with shaved truffles! My husband had the lobster Milanese - incredible! I had snapper baked in a pouch. The recommended wine was the perfect choice for our food."
