Diner Reviews
  • "The setting and ambience are wonderful but the food is rather uninspired . I weather permits , by all means try the lanai section where the regular chairs are more comfortable than the white wicker chairs used in the regular sections ."

  • "The reason to go to the Plumeria, or any of the Kahala Hotel restaurants is the location. Who cares about the food. The beach view is superb, out of this world. Any trip to Oahu I intend to stay at the Kahala Hotel, the location is beautiful."

  • "Great food (menu updates are awesome), impeccable service, and breathtaking views."

  • "We would have liked a more extensive menu in both the sandwich and entree. And chips with Monchong? should have been Pasta. I had to ask for rice. A bit Pricy. And how about kamaaina rates? and food with a more local taste?"

  • "The atmosphere is great here. Nice views, upscale and romantic, but also kid friendly. The food quality was good, but dinner selection was minimal and pricey for the quality. The buffet was $55 , and had a variety of foods for every palette. I like the "action" station where they stir fry meats, shrimp and veggies hot for you, right there."

  • "Excellant as usual! Went to sit and relax - great servie!"

  • "Usually it is a pleasant place with good food and we do like it, but Sunday breakfast was very crowded - big groups (lots of noise) and slow service. Our wait for food was 40 minutes because we ordered off the menu rather than the buffet. Our waitress looked overwhelmed, but was pleasant enough. Have breakfast during the week, if you can, and avoid the busy, crowded dining room on the weekends."

  • "sumptuous menu, elegantly presented, with fantastic views of the ocean, and attentive but not hovering waiters."

  • "Plumeria Beach House is best left for lunch. The staff was very pleasant but ho-hum, as was the food. There are other superior dining experiences now near Kahala in the Kaimuki district that require only a quick cab ride. The restaurant is convenient, acceptable, and the food is absolutely hotel uninteresting."

  • "This is a great place to kick back and relax. The view of the ocean is breathtaking. We went for lunch and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the Kahala Burger. The burger was huge and delicious. The spicy ahi summer roll with the green papaya salad appetizer was extremely delicate and not chewy like most summer rolls are. This is to die for! The Chinese Chicken Salad was plentiful and refreshing. The chicken breast on top the salad was tender, not dry and was grilled or baked with hoisin sauce. Simply delicious. I am definitely planning to return soon. The service was also great, even when it got busy, we were still attended to. Great experience."

  • "Great selection, friendly service, wonderful view. A bit pricey so come hungry. My favorite items from the sushi bar, sashimi, raw oysters, poki, crab legs."

  • "Heard wonderful things about the breakfast buffet. While the ambiance was nice, I was expecting more for the buffet spread. Maybe the variety is greater on the weekends. I'd give it another try when I have out of town guests."

  • "When you are tired of all that meat stuff, take a chance to enjoy seafood buffet here. Many choices of seafood, baked, smoked, steamwd, raw, grilled... also fruits and dolce are also ready. Buffet is only available on Friday and Saturday."

  • "Went there on Valentine's morning and had their breakfast buffet. My favorite thing to get is the rolled up pancakes, I always go back for seconds! My boyfriend, who was a first time diner, really enjoyed the breakfast selections. We will be back! :)"

  • "I took my girlfriend here for a Valentine's Day brunch and it was incredibly tasty (albeit a bit over priced). Fresh fruit, an incredible variety and an omelet chef that made me PERFECT over-easy eggs more than made up for the somewhat slow service--Yes it was a buffet but we came in DESPERATE for coffee and waited at least 10 minutes to even be greeted. Was it busy though? Absolutely. Could someone have at least said "Hey folks be right with you!"?? Probably but again, just a minor annoyance. Overall, a great experience! I DO recommend making a reservation on here as they get busy and will naturally give hotel guests and those with reservations precedence. We had our table in 3 minutes (walk ins were told a 20 min wait!)"

  • "food quality is top notch and very tasty...especially for a buffet. salads great, sashimi and raw oysters were super fresh, osso bucco and prime rib was delicious! i went to Prince Court a month before and Kai Market a few months ago, and they are not even close to comparison to Plumeria. Prince Court and Kai Market's food was a disappointment for the price you had to pay. Plumeria was worth every dollar, plus the ambiance of walking around the fishponds and also seeing the dolphins, and getting an after dinner drink in the upstairs lounge takes Plumeria over the top compared to any other high-priced buffet in Waikiki."

  • "It turned out to be the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday! It was his first time there and he loved the beachfront view. The food servers were friendly, courteous and efficient. The salad variety was wonderful and desserts were great and reasonably sized. The kids could walk out to the beach while the adults finished their meals. A very nice time! Mahalo!"

  • "Great atmosphere with beach front view. Excellent service and oustanding food. I had the boat scallops and my mom had the same for restaurant week. I ordered the soup and she had the salad. I did enjoy the soup, but must say her salad was pretty outsanding. I hate when a place throws some plain iceberg or romaine on a plate and call it a salad... that is just lettuce mix. This place had real 'salad'."

  • "We had the Seafood Buffet. The food was excellent. I know $55 each sounds like a lot, but this was worth it, considering that appetizers and desert are part of the deal. The taco poke was exceptional, as was the seaweed salad. The cold smoked salmon was very tasty, the hot smoked salmon not so much. There were so many different foods that we could not sample them all. Ate out on the patio to enjoy the beautiful ocean view. We shall return."

  • "Since I last ate here, the brunch buffet menu has changed. I used to enjoy the Japanese fare - sushi, sashimi, poke, other seafood."

  • "I love the open air facility and fantastic view of the grounds and water. The buffet offers a wide variety of great food. Be prepared to over-eat. The number of tables prevent it from being too crowded. Well-staffed with great service: Very attentive, genuinely friendly and kind. The nearby dolphin and fish pond is a wonderful bonus that adds to the enjoyment and memory of this restaurant. Cost was on the high side."

  • "We reserved for 11:15 but had to wait until 11:30 for a table, which was puzzling because we could see many empty tables. We were finally seated at a table near the kitchen, but the noise from the brunch cleanup made it impossible to hold a conversation. We asked to be moved to one of the several other empty tables. Maybe those were being kept open for hotel guests. I would reserve after 12:00 noon next time, just to avoid the brunch cleanup. Twice during the meal I had to flag down another waitress because ours disappeared, abandoning our table for periods up to 30 minutes at a time. Our party was large enough so that an 18% gratuity was added automatically. I would have left something around 10% — if that."

  • "too crowded during weekend brunch. long wait without a reservation. just too crowded like a food court. not as exclusive any more."
    Dined on 12/28/2013
  • "we arrived for a lunch reservation at 1:15. the restaurant was less than half full, but we were kept standing witout any acknowledgment of the reason for the wait for about 15 minutes after we checked in. dureing our wait, several other groups of comparable size were seated. there was no apology or explanation. our waiter was distracted and forgot several things, bringing them only after he was reminded. Nice location, adequate food, but we've never experienced such poor service there before, and we won't be rushing back."

  • "Every time we come to Hawaii (3 times a year) we never miss out on eating here. Great food, sitting out by the ocean, never rushed, and then a quick stop to see the dolphins. Never gets old!,,,"

  • "We were in Honolulu five nights, and Plumeria Beach House was our favorite dinner. The views were spectacular around sunset time. The buffet was delicious including the turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy. The bread pudding with chocolate was to die for, and I usually don't like bread pudding. My son plopped some on my plate, and was I glad. The drive there from Waikiki was also beautiful. We would definitely go back."

  • "We had a delightful evening -- we weren't expecting the seafood buffet, but was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the the dishes were excellent as the food was fresh and onolicious. The seafood boil was our favorite; it had a variety of ingredients to choose from and the chef prepared it while you waited. There was a nice assortment of salads and desserts, too. Service was great, too. Our waiter was very attentive and even offered various photo opportunities after dinner."

  • "There was plenty of food choices, even though the name "Curry Buffet" makes you think that's all that is available. They had an excellent soup and two different salads along with bread, three curry dishes with all the condiments, three choices of rice and a dessert table. If you like curry, I would recommend you try this restaurant on Wednesday afternoons. The Indian curry was the best."
