Pizzeria MozzaYummy!Revisited and rediscovered the wonderful flavors of well-executed Italian home-cooking.
One little glitch reflective of an absence of genuine hospitality and appreciation for patronage, following our meal, our request for a spoonful of olive oil gelato to accompany our order of a three-scoop gelato combination to share, was denied by the chef.
Give me a break!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good.I keep coming back to Pizzeria Mozza because it is consistently delicious. I absolutely love it for lunch and it's easier to get into for lunch than for dinner.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMParking situation is terribleA busy, vibrant, lucrative business is what every owner wants. However, the plan needs to be completely thought through. Your valet parking situation is unnecessarily tense. While waiting for our car, we were serenaded by the horns of irate northbound Highland Ave. drivers trying to turn left onto Melrose. After the car arrived, we were 'given' the car in the street! All that value for a Hollywood-priced $10 valet fee is pretty low value. But, hey. The restaurant is great.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Experience!I sat at the pizza bar and the food & service were outstanding! I counted 5 different people that took my order, brought by the food, cleared the plates and brought the check. The pizza was the best I have ever had and the squash blossom appetizer was outstanding! A fun a lively place, it could not have been better.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza Lived up to my ExpectationsI'd been wanting to try this place for ever as good pizza is hard to find. The pizza was great. Perfect crust and not overwhelmed with sauce or cheese. I was disappointed in the deserts. The butterscotch budino is legendary, and I'm not sure what the big deal is. The caramel sundae was good but too salty. It's covered in salted peanuts which usually i'd love but they were REALLY salty to the point of overwhelming. The seating is really, really tight. Only other complaint is that my husband asked for a recommendation for a glass of wine and they gave the most expensive one. So, decide on your own unless you want to be up-sold!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at Pizzeria Mozza and not quite up to the same standard as our first visit. The mussel appetizer was a little chewy and the sauce used was a bit too spicy for most tastes. I had this on our first visit and it was amazing then. While the pizzas we selected were good, the desserts were the highlight of the meal. Our server was only fair, but the support wait staff were excellent and very attentive without being overbearing. We'll certainly come back again, but hopefully with an experience that matches our first visit and not our latest one.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMummm... deliciousI dont know about everybody but when i go out i like to eat delicious food. My cousin recommended this place to me so i took my beautiful date there friday night (6/07/13). Two days later im still thinking about every item. Who makes garlic bread like they do? Im probably never going to find such awesome garlic bread so i will definitely be back. It just shows how they treat every item served as if it was the main course. Every item we ordered was better than i could have anticipated. From appetizers to dessert, it was a mind blowing experience for my tastebuds. it was a great dining experience.
FYI i guess its always busy so make a reservation. I did online through open table. easy.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Fav!!!!This place is our favorite! Space is super tight so we love eating here b/w 4-5 PM.....before it gets packed. We had the cauliflower appetizer with this visit....delicious.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Italian FoodThe pizza is tremendous. Leave room for dessert, they are delicious. The staff is very considerate. I went for my birthday and I'd go again.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA meal to die forHeavenly. If I were to die tomorrow I'd do it knowing I'd had the most satisfying meal ever. The pizza - with thyme, fontina and mozzraella was devine, the daily special of eggplant parmigiana superb. We also had the salade mista to start , dressed with a hint of lemon and olive oil, and three flavors gelati for desert, made fresh daily -- our favorite was the gelato with olive oil and salt. The two of us shared each dish and it was more than ample. It was my friend's birthday, and it couldn't have been a better celebration. The ambiance was lively but somehow the acoustics allowed for intimate table conversation and a cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this place for any type occasion. Oh yes, and great service, too.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Mozza. I could eatI love Mozza. I could eat there every day. The best pizza ever, and I'm from New York, so I know good pizza. Everything is absolutely delicious.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, terrible musicWe sat in a lovely little back room where we ate good food and experienced excellent service - oh, but the awful music that simply did not fit - stuff like Katy Perry, Keisha etc. Too bad about that.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMNot pushyThe two of us had a great lunch, the food at Mozza is always sublime. We had a waiter who accommodated our need to have a private conversation. He wasn't pushy and did not rush us out of the restaurant. Outstanding wine selection for a lunch meal; the bartender suggested a few and the one we selected was perfect.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest pizza in LABoyfriend and I love this restaurant. We make it a point to dine here the minute we arrive in town and right before we leave. Always amazing. Specially the meatball and farro appetizers. And the squash blossom pizza.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMARTISAN PIZZAAn established fixture in LA well worth the time spent early on making a reservation well in advance. Crowded, lively with wonderful thin crust artisan pizzetta's and bruscetta's. Wonderful House salads and fabulous Ricotta Squash Blossoms as an app. Killer Butterscotch Budino as a dessert! Service is done in a teamlike fashion and is efficient and professional.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's all about the breadthe crust really is special. the grilled garlic bread is very tasty. stuffed fried squash blossoms were disappointing. caprese salad was very good. butterscotch dessert meets the hype.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Mozza! We love the food here. It is always delicious. We have eaten at the Newport Beach one as well. Definitely a must to try!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPizzeria better than OsteriaI have eaten at both Osteria and Pizzeria several times. I find the staff in the Pizzeria to be more friendly, accommodating and helpful. As there was a bit of delay in getting our table ready in Pizzeria we walked over to the Osteria for a drink (only wine in the Pizzeria). The hostess and bartender both were a bit rude despite our spending $80 in 2 minutes. We quickly made our way back to the Pizzeria where we enjoyed a delicious meal and bottle of wine. I thoroughly enjoy the Pizzeria.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMYou Can't Go WrongMozza is a feast for the senses. A food bacchanal that got better with every course. Bravo!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for lunchWe had a reservation, but arrived 20 minutes early, and we were seated promptly. Gem salad with dates was fresh and Goat cheese with lentils appetizers were excellent. Pizza had delicious toppings, and a perfect crust that was reminiscent of pizza we've had in Italy. We shared two desserts, their taste and combination of sweet and salty were outstanding. Our server was one of the best I have had at any restaurant, at any price point. If you're down in the Hollywood area on a weekend day, Pizza Mozza is relaxed, energetic, and a good bet for an excellent meal.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWith a menu mostly in ItalianWith a menu mostly in Italian and full on "Foodie" oriented, a little more patience and assistance from our server would have been appreciated. That said, we had a great time at the counter watching the pizza's and appetizers being constructed. The food was indeed, delicious and the gelato truly memorable.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMmagnificent on MelrosePizzeria Mozza was fabulous..had 4 different taste bud tingling appetizers and the garlic pizza is great. Jack Warner room is perfect for a romantic evening.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Pizza and moreAmazing Pizzas and starters, service is great - only possible problem is the tables are crammed in real tight - don't expect to have a private conversation. So you take a break from talking about work and just concentrate on what you are ordering next like the butterscotch budino for dessert.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spot.Pizzeria Mozza. A fine and noisy meal can be had at pizzeria Mozza. On our second meal there we were a party of four and had better and more attentive service than the previous visit and equally excellent food. The wine prices are steep but interesting choices make up for that. We drank a lovely Lagrein from the alto adige. The pizzas are among the better pies I have eaten in the States with hand stretched crust and cooked in their wood fired oven. The tri color salad is not to missed. Desserts are excellent. In a heart beat I would eat here again.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA very fine pieExcellent pizzas. Assuming they have collaborated with Chris Bianco (of Pizzeria Bianco fame) as the menu stated one of the pies used organic tomatoes grown by him. Will definitely eat here every time I'm in LA.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the bestThey've just nailed it with Mozza, everything you've heard is right. Everything on the menu is spectacular, and even though it's a pizzeria, the small plates and dishes are the stars here. If you haven't been just go. And the fact they've maintained the same level of excellence in the years they've been open is a testament to how great this place is.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing pizzas and loved the saladExcellent service - friendly and attentive waiters. Waiting for a table took a while but wasn't painful as the atmosphere is really vibrant.
Food was awesome!!! Loved the pizza we chose (spinach and salami) and the tricolore salad was delish.
Shame we couldn't fit dessert in cos that looked amazing too....
Loved it!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsSo many reviews have been written about Pizzeria Mozza that I know there is nothing new I can add. All I can say is the food is delicious, there's plenty for vegetarians to eat and I have never been disappointed after a meal.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways right on the moneyNever had a bad meal let alone a bad food choice here. Always great food and for a place that is always so busy they are very accommodating.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch food and serviceWe came for the food and were not disappointed. The field greens in the salad are fresh and tender, the dressing light and tasty. The Bianco Dinapoli Pomodoro pizza is made with simple, high quality ingredients, very flavorful with a beautifully crisp crust. The pizza size is considered a single serving but we are small eaters and one was sufficient to share. We were glad to have made reservations as the lunch crowd comes early - by 12:30 the space was mostly full. We are visiting from out of state. If we lived in LA, we would eat here regularly.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding thin crust pizzaOutstanding thin crust pizza with some very unique combinations. Tough to get a reservation but our table was ready when we arrived.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMwe love it!We have been to pizzeria mozza several times and always have a great time -- the food is excellent -- the pizzas are amazing. very good wine list. Service is excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good pizzaGreat lively spot, always packed. Pizza is really good, and they have a nice wine list. Place is vibrant, not romantic, but the decor is nice so it is a good date spot. And I recently found out they serve late too, a bonus!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food. Music a littleAmazing food. Music a little loud and a bit cramped for LA especially coming from NYC but food superb!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA real gem of a restaurantAs a Singaporean holidaying in Los Angeles, I knew i had to pay the original Pizzeria Mozza a visit, having visited its first foreign outpost back home previously and falling in love with their delectable thick-crust pizzas. And nope it did not disappoint.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHoping for more gluten free optionsI know, its a pizzaria, but was hoping for a couple more gluten free options. Otherwise, the food was very good. I had the chopped salad (without the salami) and it was very good! and large portion too.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!Took my parents for an early Mother's Day celebration. It was amazing! They loved it! I have been there plenty of times and have always had a great experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Meatballs I've EVER had!I love this restaurant and will definitely go back (the sooner . . . the better). We got a lot of food - I highly recommend getting a few "apps" and 1 pizza - rather than two pizzas (but we did finish off the leftovers later that night)! I highly recommend the meatballs (3 pork/veal balls + bread and amazing sauce), stuffed squash blossoms, and the olives (which were warm - totally unique and tasty). Service was excellent on all accounts (from the valet, to the hostess, to the busboy, to the wait staff). It's not cheap (around $100 for 2 with tip - not including $10 valet) but it was a beautiful meal. I've never been to Italy . . . but I bet this meal would be appreciated by even the most authentic of Italian cooks!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food. Pizza tenOutstanding food. Pizza ten plus. Service above and beyond average. Unique ambiance and table setting. A must! Don't miss this place.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite pizzaBeen all over Italy many times, lived in New York for 30 years. Pizzeria Mozza presents classic characteristics, yet burnished in a unique way, outstanding, first rate. Never had better. Not inexpensive but the best never is.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding FoodOur party of three went to Pizzeria Mozza for a late lunch (3:00) on a week day. There were very few other patrons so I can not comment on how the restaurant is when it is busy, but we had a super experience. The wait staff was welcoming, friendly, and attentive but not over-bearing. Our food came to the table quickly and was beautifully prepared. While the type of food on the menu is rustic Italian, it is beautifully prepared with top quality ingredients and a creative flare. We enjoyed every bite!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Pizza in LAPizzeria Mozza still serves the best pizza in LA, of the places that I've tried.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousGreat experience - nice service. Amazing open kitchen. Food is original and flavorful.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPizzeria Mozza in the AfternoonI've never been to Mozza on a Saturday afternoon - only evenings, and I was surprised to see how packed it was. We had lunch at 2:30 and there wasn't an empty table in sight. The service was just as good as it is in the evening, but unlike the evening, there were a ton of children in the restaurant- acting as the local pizza joint for the neighborhood. Fun and lively, but totally different crowd than evening, which is more sophisticated. The funghi pizza, Nancy's salad, and gelato trio are all classics. If you've never been there, these three won't let you down.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived early for our reservatioWe arrived early for our reservation. There wasn't a table available, but there was space at the bar. The greeter was nice and offered for us to stay but she didn't have our reservation in the system. I knew we did since you had confirmed, sent my husband a reminder and sent me a reminder the day of the reservation. I don't know what would have happened if we had arrived on time and the restaurant was completely full.
We had a very nice lunch so all was forgiven.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is very loud inside, butIt is very loud inside, but once your food is served, you mostly just focus on how good everything tastes. It is a small and busy restaurant, so I'd recommend taking the extra time to make a reservation, but it's also worth the wait. The menu prices are fair, although a little too expensive for me to be regularly dining there. However, going there certainly acts as a treat to myself.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pizza never disappointsThe pizza never disappoints and the capresse salad is delicious. Favorite pizza is the spicy salame and peppers.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe know the food is good here.We know the food is good here. What makes the experience extra wonderful is the amazing service, by all the waitstaff. Our glasses were always full, & constantly being refilled by everyone, not just our waitress. Everyone was attentive, polite & exactly what being in the service industry is all about. The food, divine, & the experience, even late night when we were there, fun & full of buzz.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food and worth everyFabulous food and worth every bite, but not ideal for conversation on a Saturday night. The tables seemed particularly packed tight and it was noisy.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Pizza! The Pizzeria is a little tricky to find, but the wait staff at all the restaurants on the block were friendly enough to point us in the right direction. I will keep it easy for you: look for the orange door by the Valet. The food was astonishingly simple, making it perfection. Great beer, friendly staff, would eat there again!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
