A word from Piropos Restaurant
The taste of Argentina is very American Midwestern. The foods of its capital city, Buenos Aires, are steaks, grilled meats, seafood, fresh salads and vegetables. Argentineans enjoy dining in a generally relaxed atmosphere where conversation and gracious dining go hand-in-hand. Piropos Restaurant, on the hill in Briarcliff Village, offers a unique view, warm atmosphere and fresh foods prepared in the Argentinean style. ***PLEASE NOTE: WHEN MAKING RESERVATIONS PIROPOS CANNOT RESERVE WINDOW TABLES. THEY MAY BE REQUESTED UPON ARRIVAL, BUT CANNOT BE GUARANTEED. Thank you.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "For our 50th wedding anniversary, we chose Piropos for the ambiance. We have always enjoyed this restaurant and it did not disappoint us on this special occasion. The service and food were outstanding. We brought a special vintage of wine bottled the year we were married and it was treated very gingerly by our waiter, Fred. Piropos is a very special place and one of the few left in the city that offers fine Dining. I wish them we'll for many years to come."

  • "We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at Piropos and can't say enough about the ambience, the delicious cuisine and the superb service!!! Ask for Alex, he was an outstanding server. Thank you Alex and Piropos for making our evening so special!"

  • "We celebrated our 7th anniversary here and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was a Monday night so there wasn't much of a crowd and we got a table facing a window that overlooked the downtown skyline. The food was amazing (try the lobster risotto) and our waiter Fred had a great sense of humor and made the night very special for us. It was our best Anniversary dinner to date."

  • "Piropos is a great romantic restaurant where you can go to get some great food and see a beautiful view of the city. Catch this place at the right time you can eat outside on the deck and get a breathtaking view of the sunset. My only knock was that the waitress who waited on us was very slow with her service she would disappear a lot. Now I will give the benefit of the doubt and say maybe she was waiting on the bar side as well but I mean a place this small this shouldn't be a problem. Overall this place was great and is deserving of its Top 10 ranking in Romantic Restaurants in Kansas City."

  • "Great dishes starting with the Empanadas, continuing with delicious watermelon gazpacho, and then both fish and beef entrees combines with sides and sauces that worked well. Finished off with the flan an churros. Excellent meal and wines. Service was superb. Great view too."

  • "Great service and exceptional food! We went on a Saturday evening and were very pleased with this gem. Beautiful view of the city from the upstairs dining location, less casual bar downstairs for those so inclined. Our server, Alex, was very knowledgable and helped us through picking just the right items. Lots of off menu specials, so be sure and ask! I had one of the best filets I've ever had, and I'm a KC foodie veteran! The sauces and seasonings are South American, but the steaks are some of the best KC offers. My wife was not as hungry, and had and amazing avocado salad and an appetizer of delicious crab cakes as her meal. Dessert list has something for everyone. The banana cake treat that was amazing!"

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Piropos. Our waiter, Jaimie, was engaging and knew all the answers to our questions. We are new to the area and are very pleased we found this gem. Everything was prepared exactly to our liking. We are already talking about our next visit."

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants in the metro. Food is great, service is wonderful and it's just a nice place for dinner. We recently brought a guest from out of town to Piropos, band her comments was, "I didn't know there were restaurants this nice in Kansas City" . We have dined here several times and will surely return again and again."

  • "Our visit was a little like a homecoming for me. I lived in the Buenos Aires area for a short time, several years ago. I loved the many items of memorabilia throughout the restaurant. The atmosphere was great. There were many familiar dining items. But, there were other traditional items I did not find on the menu. A few additions to the menu and I would make the 2 1/2 hour drive in a heartbeat."

  • "We have moved away from the area, but every time we are in town, it is a most to place to dine, the food is out of the world and great service too."

  • "We dine at Piropos (or Piropos Grill when open) at least once per year. It is a comfortable restaurant with great service. This time we enjoyed appetizers: scallops and a corn empanadas; entrees: strip steak with roasted potatoes and asparagus, and halibut with risotto and squash strands; and we shared a crème brule. Add a few drinks, including lemon line mojito, and we left full and happy."

  • "The food and service here is excellent. We are lucky to have this restaurant in our neighborhood."

  • "The food was absolutely wonderful! And the service was above all the rest. A little pricey to eat there often but it was worth it!"

  • "Piropos may have leapt to our most favorite restaurant in the world! It remains to be confirmed by sampling several more of its entrees; however, it reminded us of our standard, Gumbos of Austin, which depressingly closed. Piropos is one of those places that exudes upscale casual classiness. Piropos is Argentinian themed which means the beef entrees are excellent. Tapas were a new experience and were wonderful; careful though, or you'll not have room for your entrée let alone desert. The next night, we had our sons rehearsal dinner at Piropos special event venue where we experienced Piropos' wonderful stuffed chicken entrée and Piropos' event manager, Jamison, who is the epitome of service. The best in food, service, and ambiance."

  • "It was easy to make a reservation online. We were seated immediately & enjoyed our dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Waitress was wonderful. Food superb."

  • "On arrival @ 8 pm, the hostess estimated a 30 minute wait. During that time, 1 party waited ahead of us and 2 tables were emptied. After a long wait, we were surprised to be seated at a poor table among over 10 empty tables. The hostess reseated us at our request. We waited 15 minutes without server acknowledgment so left. We took time to explain our reason to the hostess who agreed when I pointed out that she made us wait the full 30 minutes despite tables being plentiful. We do not know if the quality of the food is keeping pace with the premium pricing that seems to go higher each time we visit. But we do know that more respectful and better service from the entire staff is essential to its continued success. We are unlikely to return."

  • "The empanadas were very tasty along with the signature cocktails. The filet and the talapia were amazing. For dessert you have to try the babanana cake."

  • "Absolutely outstanding. Gini our server was more than excellent. Took very good care of us. She was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Since they were out of one of the wines we would have chosen, she suggested an alternate. And, because they were out of our first choice wine, she comped a desert. Could not have asked for better service. Salmon and swordfish were excellent entree selections. "

  • "My wife and I spent our second anniversary at Piropos and while the food was good, the service was far below our expectations. We requested a table with a view (a week in advance) and when we arrived, all the prime tables were taken. We ended up waiting a good 25 minutes past our reservation time to get a seat and when I inquired about the wait time, the hostess condescendingly replied, "I don't know, it might be three minutes, it might be 40!" This was a poor way to start the evening. What made it worse however was our server. He was outright mean spirited. In all, it made for a lackluster dining experience I'd expect at lower end restaurants, but not this one. I can't say we'd ever come back. "

  • "Piropos has been one of our favorite restaurants for years and we have been there numerous times. However, our experience on Sunday 5/25/14 - was most disappointing. We were seated next to a large, loud party and the waiter was taking care of both tables. However, he apparently was overwhelmed by the large table and appeared to have little time to serve us. Food arrived in timely manner, but both our steaks were overcooked, and we were never asked if steaks were done correctly. Had to wait to get water refills. Evening was an anniversary gift, and it was MOST disappointing. Taking Piropos off our list of favs!!!"

  • "We were looking for a nice quiet evening out for dinner but unfortunately were set right beside a group having a bachelorette party. The noise level made it literally impossible to talk at the table without having to repeat yourself two or three times just to be heard."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "We waited for our table while enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony outside. The waiter was awesome!--very attentive and anticipated our needs. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the temperature was piping hot--the taste.........delish!!! The portion size was large, and there were leftovers to take home. The ambience was great and the scenic view was amazing!! "

  • "Piropos was always on my radar, however we just never got around to it until this visit. Well we were missing out it. Food was superb and service was excellent. I know Story is the hot restaurant in Kansas City, but do not sleep on this Kansas City classic that rivals it in many ways. "
