    Currently, our mezzanine level accommodates 40 guests or less. For events with more than 40 guests, a buyout of the entire restaurant is required.

  • "Had a recent business dinner for 6. Service was pleasant and efficient; personable but not overbearing. Food was beautifully prepared with clever (but not fussy) accompaniments. Wine list was inventive, although they didn't seem to have more than one bottle of the wines we chose. I'll give them a hall pass on this one and trust it was a fluke. The desserts were the topper! Sticky date cake was gooey and flavorful and the lemon tart with brown butter ice cream was outstanding. I look forward to returning."

  • "We really enjoyed the food. They have a great wine list and the food came out in a timely manner. The waitress though barely spoke to us the whole night. We thought she was the water girl at first because she didn't speak one word while pouring the water and then later her first words to us were, "Are you ready to order?" The rest of the night she dropped off the plates without ONE word! After dinner she dropped off the dessert menus and then the check. She never said anything the whole time! We had wanted to ask her opinion on a couple of dishes, but we decided that we didn't value her opinion if this was the way she works at this restaurant. We may or may not be back to Piedmont, but if we go we would request a different waitress."

  • "The cuisine and service at Piedmont are superb. It was clear that, being aware that this was our anniversary, the waitperson took extra trouble to look after us. Each course was outstanding. Our only (slight) disappointment was the wine list. We tried a Bordeaux merlot blend and a Sangiovese blend and both were disappointing. Possibly because they were by the glass and the wines were not at their peak. Nevertheless, we had a great experience and would highly recommend Piedmont for a romantic evening (or Sunday brunch, which we had there once before and was splendid!)."

  • "The Chef here is SO creative! Starting with fresh/ local it's hard to go wrong but not always easy to rise to spectacular as he does at Piedmont. The fried oyster appetizer was delicious and perfectly fried. The beet /fennel / goat cheese salad was beautiful, creamy and better than any beet salad anywhere. The striped bass over sweet carrots was a masterpiece. The skin so perfectly done it was the first time in my life I did not remove it. The secret sauce was sweetly spicey and a perfect pairing. I only say secret because I wouldn't begin to guess how to replicate it. A fantastic meal once again!"

They took the time to understand my needs and actually made me a special dish that wasn't on the menu in order to meet my needs. Our server Eric was wonderful."

  • "We returned to Piedmont to celebrate a birthday but, unfortunately, running late from a matinee movie, and encountering traffic, it was clear we would be late for our reservation. I called and they said we would probably have to sit at the bar but, understanding this, I replied that that was fine. Luckily, when we got there we were told they had found us a table and we were able to begin our meal before the onslaught of other diners. We enjoyed the beet salad and fried oysters and our martinis. The main course of pasta and lamb neck was good and filling. For dessert we had something chocolate and delicious. Piedmont is a restaurant we enjoy. The room enveloped with golden light as the day wanes and the good service add to its charm."

Our server was aware of our need to leave by 7:30 and was very attentive to our request. We dine here about once a month and are always impressed by the quality of the food and service. The location is also convenient to downtown Durham."

Jazz music is great but really loud for talking-- so you have to make a choice- either yell to each other or just not talk and enjoy the music. I was really disappointed with the crab--watery-- was it really lump crab? If not, it should have been-- hollandaise, muffin, greens, coffee-- all good."

  • "Me and my boyfriend decided to try out Piedmont after a recommendation from a friend, and we thoroughly enjoyed every part of our meal. Started with the trout dip and fried oysters, both of which were outstanding, although the trout dip was without a doubt my favorite. For the main course, I ordered the pork chop and my boyfriend ordered the steak. We must have liked our meals as there was nothing left on our plates when we were done. Overall fantastic meal, would definitely go again and recommend to all!"

At no point did we feel hurried (although the restaurant was full) and the service was just terrific. We shared everything we ordered and I can tell you there was not a hint of anything but delight in all that was brought to our table. Highly recommended."

  • "The Piedmont is back to its original standard. The food was excellent, just the right portions, the service was excellent, and it was nice to see it full and busy again. It's the perfect place to go before a show at the Carolina Theatre. We were really pleased with the experience, which was completely different from a year or so ago. The ambiance is great. I was sad to see they painted over the amazing stencils but all in all, it was a vast improvement from my last visit (about a year ago)."

  • "Our first time to dinner at Piedmont and we really enjoyed it. This was a preshow dinner for show at DPAC. It is a few minutes walk away or easy parking. Our appetizer, entrees, and a dessert all had fantastic taste and flavors. The preparation of just about everything was wonderful. The only exception was my wife's pork had sections that were a little touch and chewy. This was a disappointment as it looked at taste amazing. She tried working from the other end of her cut and it was tender, so overall it was more than fine. We will certainly be back. It is a little pricey, so not a place we could visit frequently, though we'd like to."
