A word from Peche Seafood Grill
Peche Seafood Grill. In French, "pêché" means "catch." Inspired by trips to Spain and Uruguay, Peche will focus on seafood cooked over an open wood fire. Diners can watch as the seafood, along with meats and vegetables, cooks over the flames. The dishes, though, will still be rooted in Louisiana. The restaurant is a partnership between chefs Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Ryan Prewitt, although Prewitt will have primary authority over the new kitchen.
Housed in a restored 19th-century building, Peche will share the modern aesthetic of Cochon. According to the Link Restaurant Group, the restaurant will have "high, pickled-wood ceilings; large, soaring windows; a thick-topped Cypress bar; and a marble top oyster bar."

Diner Reviews
  • "This is the second time to Peche for us. The first was dinner the month it opened. It was packed house and the food was terrific! Our service was rushed, but we figured it was a busy night, so we brushed it off. This weekend we went for lunch. Again the food - just fantastic! The dining room was over half full. Our waiter was delightful and engaging, but the team service is rushed! Two times I had to ask someone to leave the plate, because we are still enjoying it. I understand team service/coursing, so come on guys...give me a chance to take my last bite before silver and dishes are picked up. Icing on the cake, Check was dropped with the dessert...like a late night diner! Second chance didn't work out so well. "

  • "A foodie friend recommended Peche for our first trip to NOLA. Made reservations but still had to wait almost 40 minutes. It was crowded and felt like there was no place to stand while we waited. I get that reservations can't always be accommodated at the exact time, but I didn't appreciate the way we were treated during the wait. The host kept saying "you're next" but at least 3 other parties were seated before we were. Then our server took awhile to come over and take our order. The food was just OK. We had oysters, tuna crudo, hush puppies; bisque and dessert. the food tasted ok, but the portions were tiny and the service was not particularly attentive. I wouldn't go back."

  • "Came right at start of dinner (~5pm). Seated immediately. Waiter was promptly but not overly friendly. (I'm spoiled.... I live in New Orleans). Seafood salad was terrific. The black drum was good but too much sauce for my liking. Reasonably priced food with good portions."

  • "We can understand why Peche is in the running for a James Beard award. The best dinner and service we had during a four day stay in New Orleans."

  • "All the seafood here is wonderful, but especially the Royal Red Shrimp and the Black Drum was marvelous."

  • "We have eaten at Peche several times and have never been disappointed. The service is stellar, the food is always spot on, especially the whole smoked fish which can be shared by everyone at the table. Shucked oysters are served iced on the half shell and are incredible. It is always a loud, lively but casual crowd who are clearly enjoying their dining experience! Reservations are highly recommended as it gets quite busy!!"

  • "I've been many seafood restaurants in town. I could tell that it's my second favorite seafood restaurant besides G.W Finns. I would recommend Seafood Platers and Black Drum dish. All the cocktail drinks are very creative and great."

  • "Second time at Peche in as many weeks. Knowledgeable & friendly service, inventive menu, great oysters, good beer selection. Very pleased."

  • "Not sure if seating arrangement is new but we were given one of many small tables wedged in a booth style setting. We could touch either table on both sides. The couples on both sides of us were also unhappy with this arrangement. One couple was trying to have a romantic anniversary dinner but could not even speak privately. The restaurant is already so noisy that you have to speak loudly so everything you said was heard by the other tables easily. Whenever the waiter needed to hear the person seated on the bench he/she had to squeeze in between the tables putting their rear end touching the next table. We will not return if those tables are our only choice for 2 people."

  • "We started with the tuna appetizer from the raw bar, had the whole redfish, with turnips as a side veggie, and ended with the rum cake. The turnips were okay, but everything else was delicious. My only suggestion is to have more veggie options as side dishes."

  • "Peche is one of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans, and that's saying a lot! It is consistently excellent. Go for the tuna -- raw, smoked, or grilled, it's all delicious."

  • "This restaurant is for fish lovers. It specializes in gulf fish. We had the Grilled Redfish with Salsa Verde. Yummy. While it is expensive, it served two people so overall it was reasonable. Our companions had the grouper head. They also served two people with it, however, they are not large eaters. We loved the fish. It was done just right. The appetizers were also delicious. The decor is rustic, dress is casual. Only negative was that they did not serve any bread - which we wished we had to sop up the wonderful sauces."

  • "The food was creative and tasty. The service was very attentive. I went to an early dinner and the place was filling up when I left!"

  • "Every dish was amazing! They offer small plates, giving you an opportunity to try different things. Everything was great! We had the lamb skewers, wonderful brussel sprouts, outstanding crawfish bisque, and crawfish capellini."

  • "We enjoyed a drink at the bar and good service and good food in the restaurant late on a Saturday night. Atmosphere was loud and lively at bar but since we weren't seated until 10:30 the noise level in restaurant was ok. Food is interesting. Service was outstanding."

  • "The staff was friendly & willing to joke around while also being knowledgeable. The food was delicious. I had a special with Mahi, sweet potato & a black eye pea vinaigrette which still makes my mouth water thinking about it."

  • "Truly everything was excellent! My only negative comment would be that it was really LOUD in there. Tablecloths would help. However, we will be back very soon! I'm still dreaming about that whole redfish................"

  • "Attentive and knowledgeable service, delicious food, great beer and wine by the glass selection."

  • "LOVED IT. The atmosphere casual & comfortable, rustic feeling & smells wonderful! The food is prepared simply but in a way to bring out the best of the natural flavor. We had a shrimp/pasta that was a little spicy, fine for me, a little too much for my husband. Our entree was the grilled whole fish seasoned w/ herbs - Delicious! We had Brabrant potatoes, well done & fresh. The grilled brussel sprouts were excellent. I really liked our waiter he was friendly a& helpful, not stuffy & overly "professional", just like eating at a good friends house. I had a house cocktail, Buffalo Louie. Interesting mix of ingredients, but it really worked! I wished I could have tried everything on the menu! Lastly, the price was reasonable & appropriate."

  • "Very upscale but relaxed and rustic decor in the Warehouse district. Very modern but distinctly NOLA cuisine. Vegetable and entrees were all equally exciting in their unique preparation, even the carrots! Staff helped explain the subtleties in taste and textural difference of a Louisiana v Alabama oyster. Staff were very helpful to each other as well. Really a fun, foodie spot."

  • "Excellent concept and execution. The freshness of the fish was astounding, and the creative crudo appetizers were a triumph. I felt that the $44 tag on the whole redfish was a little steep, but that may have been due to the marvelous salsa verde. I guess I wanted just a little more from the redfish. Regardless, the whole fish concept is a blessing and hopefully will spark other restaurants to emulate this style. The peanut butter banana pie was absolutely decadent."

  • "We had a great lunch. Tried the grouper collar, the flounder special, raw oysters and the pineapple run cake with dulce de leche ice cream. The flounder and rum cake were my favorites! Great service by Terry."

  • "Food just feels good. Fresh, delicious. I have been here several times and the service is always OFF. Servers are not accommodating and add nothing to the experience."

  • "Excellent food and great atmosphere. The "small plates" are good lunch size portions. Next time I come with friends we'll try the whole fish…it looked awesome (and enormous!)"

  • "My daughter and I ate at Peche for the first time. It has a great atmosphere, loved the decor! The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable offering good explanations of dishes and flavors. We tried the fish sticks as appetizers. Very tasty and a sizable portion- more than we needed- would have been perfect for 4 people. I had the wahoo fish special and my daughter had the curried mussels. Excellent! We also had a side of hush puppies with dinner. To top off our special night we tried the caramel cake which was superb!"

  • "We went to Peche on Friday and sum up the visit as average. The restaurant itself is decorated beautiful. We had a reservation for 6:00. We found the service to be very slow and it felt like they possibly needed more wait staff. I had the smothered catfish and my meal was good. Another diner had the special of the night which was fresh sheepshead. He did not care for it at all. It had a very fishy taste (he ordered the similar dish at another restaurant the next night and he said it was delicious when the fish is fresh). The best part of the entire meal was our dozen raw oysters. I recommend them, especially the AL ones. All in all, I will try this restaurant one more time, but our meal was average at best."
