A word from Peche Seafood Grill
Peche Seafood Grill. In French, "pêché" means "catch." Inspired by trips to Spain and Uruguay, Peche will focus on seafood cooked over an open wood fire. Diners can watch as the seafood, along with meats and vegetables, cooks over the flames. The dishes, though, will still be rooted in Louisiana. The restaurant is a partnership between chefs Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Ryan Prewitt, although Prewitt will have primary authority over the new kitchen.
Housed in a restored 19th-century building, Peche will share the modern aesthetic of Cochon. According to the Link Restaurant Group, the restaurant will have "high, pickled-wood ceilings; large, soaring windows; a thick-topped Cypress bar; and a marble top oyster bar."

  • "The food is overpriced and bland. I don't mind spending money on good food, but this is a case of it not matching its price point. A shame, since I had been looking forward to dining here. The wife and I got 6 different items, and only 1 garnered a thumbs up from us. On top of the bland food, the seating arrangement is horrendous. We reserved a dinner for two, but they sat us at a booth which shares with other diners. There was zero privacy. Looking around we notice that half the place was designed in this fashion. Very poor design. There are far too many good places in NO to bother wasting your money here. Don't bother going; we sure won't again."

  • "Our most anticipated outing in New Orleans was sure to be Peche Seafood Grill, James Beard's best new restaurant. Unfortunately it is literally the loudest restaurant to which we have ever been. Not loud in a familiar or spirited way. It's like having a meal next to a jet engine. We had hoped the food would make up for the noise. Not so. My husband had the crab capellini and gulf shrimp. The shrimp were large and tasted fresh. The capellini was overwhelmed by the starch in the noodles and very bland. I had Drum which was so spicy that the fish was completely in the background. After an hour of trying to converse, we finally gave up and skipped dessert. The meal at Peche was above average but didn't meet the hype. Take a pass on Peche."

Then we both had the crab and chillies with cappellini which was outstanding. Place was packed at 6:30 PM in late July in New Orleans which tells you they are doing things right."

  • "Made a reservation at least a week in advance. Requested a nice table for special occassion. Kyle sat us at the table next to the front door. I saw two tables open, one by the window one in the middle of the floor but much better than being next to the entrance. He would not give us either. After a few minutes he came over and moved us but was rude about it. He told us we were lucky he didn't make us wait and put us at a two top and than told us every table was the same. While we were having dinner I became aware of something I have never seen. A woman intensley patroled the dining room the entire time we were their staring at the customers and entering notes into an IPAD. Food is good but focus is totally on turning tables."

  • "This was some of the best food I have every had at a restaurant. The food was so flavorful...lime, beer, mint, cucumber...all delicious! We got two small plates, the lamb and the fish sticks, and one main dish, braised meat, and split everything. It was hard to decide on a favorite. We also had the key lime pie and the banana chocolate peanut butter pie, both to die for! The service was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. Highly recommended!"

I am sure the other stuff there must be good, too. I am glad i brought my clients, we sealed the deal afterwords on their new condo purchase. Perfect night."

  • "Can't say enought good things about this charming, but spacious, seafood restaurant just off downtown New Orleans. Good was impeccable, interesting, and tasty. Drinks were creative and refreshing. The dining area is very open and conducive to good conversation without the typical deafening crowd noise. Would be the first placebo went back to upon another visit to NoLa."

  • "Perhaps we hit an "off" night. It started by being seated in the very back corner of the restaurant as we passed two other available tables. They would not allow us to sit there even though we too had reservations. The hosts were very friendly regardless. Our drinks were wrong--we sent one of them back - they corrected it but weren't very nice about it until one waiter tried it and agreed there was absinthe in the cocktail by mistake. (Kinda hard to deny that flavor!) Our food presentation wasn't pleasing to the eye. The food itself was ok, not incredible as everyone described. Our waitress was polite. There's so much talk about Donald Link we will certainly try it again....once more."

  • "Having heard great reviews and many accolades, we choose Peche as one of our three diners out during our honeymoon. We were delighted when they acknowledged our special occasion with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine - very classy and nice start to our evening! We ordered 2 small plates - the Louisiana oysters were great - the brussel sprouts were overcooked, soaked in oil/spices and hard to finish. We ordered cocktails and had them delivered quickly..... then waited what seemed like an eternity to see our server again to place our dinner order. The Whole Fish (snapper) was delicious and the Drum was ok. Overall, we liked the vibe in the restaurant but the lackluster service and the just ok food will not bring us back."

  • "Went earlier on a Friday night with reservations, more than half the tables were open and we were seated smack next to the kitchen door. Bar was "out of several key ingredients" for some of the cocktails, so while we didn't get to taste them the cocktail list was intriguing. Food was great, service was fine barring the poor seating and missing cocktail ingredients. Overall it was a good pick for dinner though I don't feel the need to return."

  • "Peche was recommended by a friend who is a local and we're glad we went. We had tuna belly and a whole trout for the table and both were outstanding!!! I've had better gumbo. The baked beans and brussel sprout sides was both good. But, the pre-meal star was the eggplant and tomato relish app. The only downside was their real lack of a wine program and for a place like this in NO, I was surprised. The white wine was had was really good, but the pinot we had later was served in the same sized glasses. Since there is a real focus on the "cocktail" experience at Peche, their lack of detail to wine was a big disappointment."

  • "It was our first dinning here and I heard so many positive things about the restaurant. I really liked the ambience with the lighter exposed woods all around. It was like a northern style seafood joint. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. Hands down the bext shrimp and corn bisque in the city. I lived in Lafayette for a while in college and honestly, ever spoonfull of bisque brought back of series of memories. The bisque tasted like Lafayette, if that is possible. I loved every minute of this place and I will be back."
