A word from Peche Seafood Grill
Peche Seafood Grill. In French, "pêché" means "catch." Inspired by trips to Spain and Uruguay, Peche will focus on seafood cooked over an open wood fire. Diners can watch as the seafood, along with meats and vegetables, cooks over the flames. The dishes, though, will still be rooted in Louisiana. The restaurant is a partnership between chefs Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Ryan Prewitt, although Prewitt will have primary authority over the new kitchen.
Housed in a restored 19th-century building, Peche will share the modern aesthetic of Cochon. According to the Link Restaurant Group, the restaurant will have "high, pickled-wood ceilings; large, soaring windows; a thick-topped Cypress bar; and a marble top oyster bar."

Diner Reviews
  • "This one is a 'must' for anyone who loves good food and New Orleans ambiance."

  • "great food , service and ambience . Noise level only issue if that bothers you"

  • "It was our first dinning here and I heard so many positive things about the restaurant. I really liked the ambience with the lighter exposed woods all around. It was like a northern style seafood joint. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. Hands down the bext shrimp and corn bisque in the city. I lived in Lafayette for a while in college and honestly, ever spoonfull of bisque brought back of series of memories. The bisque tasted like Lafayette, if that is possible. I loved every minute of this place and I will be back."

  • "Perhaps we hit an "off" night. It started by being seated in the very back corner of the restaurant as we passed two other available tables. They would not allow us to sit there even though we too had reservations. The hosts were very friendly regardless. Our drinks were wrong--we sent one of them back - they corrected it but weren't very nice about it until one waiter tried it and agreed there was absinthe in the cocktail by mistake. (Kinda hard to deny that flavor!) Our food presentation wasn't pleasing to the eye. The food itself was ok, not incredible as everyone described. Our waitress was polite. There's so much talk about Donald Link we will certainly try it again....once more."

  • "Don't miss the outstanding and innovative menu that features delicious fish and more. Great wines and equally spiffy service. A real gem"

  • "Too noisy. Seated us too close to other tables and would not move us."

  • "Having heard great reviews and many accolades, we choose Peche as one of our three diners out during our honeymoon. We were delighted when they acknowledged our special occasion with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine - very classy and nice start to our evening! We ordered 2 small plates - the Louisiana oysters were great - the brussel sprouts were overcooked, soaked in oil/spices and hard to finish. We ordered cocktails and had them delivered quickly..... then waited what seemed like an eternity to see our server again to place our dinner order. The Whole Fish (snapper) was delicious and the Drum was ok. Overall, we liked the vibe in the restaurant but the lackluster service and the just ok food will not bring us back."

  • "Not what I would expect from a Donald Link restaurant. Our server was very weird and awkward. The cocktail menu was minimal, and the drink I did order was just okay. Except for the oysters, which were excellent, the food was just mediocre. Overall, not terrible, just not great like Donald Link's other restaurants."

  • "The small plate option was really nice and they were really great. We did not have the whole fish but several people around us did and they were raving about it. The service was great. It was a little noisy but all in all the atmosphere and vibe was good. Will definitely return next time in NOLA."

  • "Our server was attentive and able to make excellent recommendations. The food was great and I look forward to trying the whole fish to share next time. Overall a great dining experience."

  • "All the food came out extremely hot and perfectly seasoned. I will be back soon"

  • "Great food, decent prices, awesome cocktails, a little loud, excellent service. If you are New Orleans and like seafood go to Peshe."

  • "We dropped by on vacation and were really impressed with the baked drum and raw bar. Worthy of its James Beard award, this is a must try!"
    Dined on 7/1/2014
  • "Menu was creative and well executed. Great service and very cool rustic vibe (open kitchen, funky light fixtures, wood tables). Drink menu was also vey good and bar area was very cozy and inviting. Loved this place!"

  • "Went earlier on a Friday night with reservations, more than half the tables were open and we were seated smack next to the kitchen door. Bar was "out of several key ingredients" for some of the cocktails, so while we didn't get to taste them the cocktail list was intriguing. Food was great, service was fine barring the poor seating and missing cocktail ingredients. Overall it was a good pick for dinner though I don't feel the need to return."

  • "Peche was recommended by a friend who is a local and we're glad we went. We had tuna belly and a whole trout for the table and both were outstanding!!! I've had better gumbo. The baked beans and brussel sprout sides was both good. But, the pre-meal star was the eggplant and tomato relish app. The only downside was their real lack of a wine program and for a place like this in NO, I was surprised. The white wine was had was really good, but the pinot we had later was served in the same sized glasses. Since there is a real focus on the "cocktail" experience at Peche, their lack of detail to wine was a big disappointment."

  • "Had a wonderful dining experience at Peche. The baked drum is not to be missed as well as the soft shell crabs. Our server, Heather was on top of everything plus she has a terrific personality."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "The food was marvelous (including the best soft shell crab ever),our server was knowledgeable and energetic, and this restaurant is worth of a return visit. The noise level was above what should be found in a restaurant. Unfortunately that is the way new restaurants are designed. Worth a visit, but make your reservations early."

  • "This restaurant is a top 5 in New Orleans. The cooking was flawless and each dish lived up to our expectations. Keep up the great work!"

  • "Love eating the fresh shucked oysters! The horseradish is very good, buy really powerful........use a very small amount! All the food, from the appetizers to desert are done well! A little too much salt/seasoning is my only complaint!"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Love this place because the seafood is the best!!!! It is very loud so it's not romantic but the food is damned good that I don't care!"
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "This place was recommended by a friend and it was beyond amazing. Everything was delicious and the prices weren't bad at all. I'll definitely be back. Just make sure you make reservations"

  • "We were seated promptly, service was excellent and the food was fantastic. The whole grilled redfish was awesome"

  • "Made reservations in advance and promptly seated. Anticipated an excellent meal given the hype and James Beard awards and were not disappointed. The food sublime: creatively concocted; elegantly presented. The service exceptional - perhaps a bit "over the top" as we had two wait staff servers. However, noise level (which we were forewarned of) beyond energetic. I am a New York City native, and used to a certain amount of ambient frenzy. But decibel levels, given concrete floor and lack of sound absorbing materials, are VERY uncomfortable. I could barely hear my dinner partner sitting directly across from me. It was like eating in a very expensive cafeteria. Intimate and romantic? Definitely not. Go for lunch; not for a dinner date."

  • "I was excited to try Peche. I had read great reviews about the chef. I felt It was a very rushed experience, as if it were an expensive fast food place. The ground shrimp appetizer was awful. So salty!!!! After that, nothing was excellent."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Our group of 4 had a very good meal at Peche. We ordered the whole yellow eyed snapper, the ground shrimp and noodles, the black drum in broth, the brussel sprouts, the tuna sashimi special, the eggplant dip, and some oysters. The oysters and sashimi were fresh and delicious and the brussel sprouts were outstanding. we almost ordered a second serving. Both fish dishes were exceptional and the ground shrimp was spicy, surprising and very tasty. We sat near the kitchen and enjoyed watching all the food go out. We definitely will return on our next trip back."

  • "Great seafood! Drum fish was amazing with fried Brussel sprouts!"
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "Housed in a 19th century building with a high ceiling and cement floors makes it loud, but if you come or reserve at off hours you can enjoy it more. The gumbo is lighter than the classic yaya at Mr. B's, but at that level of good, and chock full of flavorful seafood. While the bisque was good, it lacked any pieces of shrimp or corn. Maybe that's me. The shrimp roll is huge, on a big bun and looks like a po-boy. And the shrimp in the white sauce were plentiful. Cut it with a knife. I had a thick cut of grilled cobia - you DO go there for grilled fish - with a side of brown rice and peas, which the server told me were supposed to be served at room temperature. That was a new one for me, and not quite believable. But $90 for lunch?"

  • "Many New Orleans restaurants get accolades then don't deliver to the level of the accolades. This one does! Get the whit beans, the smoked tuna dip, the fresh oysters all outstanding! The whole grilled fish is amazing. Go eat !"

  • "We picked this spot because of all the great reviews and it lived up to its reputation. The food was wonderful! Oysters, fish sticks, hush puppies and whole red fish! Fantastic!"
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "I've been to a good number of restaurants in the city and I can easily say this dining experience was top 5. If you want fresh seafood with a great ambiance, peche is the spot. The whole grilled fish stole the show and so did the fish sticks and fried bread. All of it was amazing but these items were absolutely incredible. Bravo, Peche!"
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "The ambience is sophisticated and yet very comfortable. We loved the menu and the service was excellent. And we can't forget the fried bread - out of this world!"
    Dined on 6/5/2014
  • "We had the whole Redfish and it was great. Three of us were just tasting items and everything we had was great. We ate at 4 pm as that was the best time for a reservation, but when we got there, only three of the tables were taken."

  • "After having received a rave review from a friend shortly after it opened, and then seen the James Beard award, I was excited to dine at Peche. What a disappointment. A limited menu--which they would not change for ingredients that my wife and I would not eat. Just a very plain meal--which is so unusual for NOLA. Cochon is much, much better. "

  • "The Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in the U.S. brought our group to Peche for the first time for lunch. I suppose the award drove my expectations to unreasonable heights. We enjoyed Peche and will return but I was not knocked out as I expected to be. The service and atmosphere were fine. The food was good but not memorable. The shrimp toast and smoked tuna were flavorful but mostly ordinary. Gumbo and the corn and crab bisque were also very good. The smothered catfish was likewise tasty. In my opinion, the best single dish we had was the Key Lime pie. Peche's prices, however, seem high for the quality and presentation of the dishes. We should be proud of Peche in a city of terrific seafood restaurant choices."
