A word from Peche Seafood Grill
Peche Seafood Grill. In French, "pêché" means "catch." Inspired by trips to Spain and Uruguay, Peche will focus on seafood cooked over an open wood fire. Diners can watch as the seafood, along with meats and vegetables, cooks over the flames. The dishes, though, will still be rooted in Louisiana. The restaurant is a partnership between chefs Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Ryan Prewitt, although Prewitt will have primary authority over the new kitchen.
Housed in a restored 19th-century building, Peche will share the modern aesthetic of Cochon. According to the Link Restaurant Group, the restaurant will have "high, pickled-wood ceilings; large, soaring windows; a thick-topped Cypress bar; and a marble top oyster bar."

This was my third trip to Peche, but my first lunchtime visit. The food was still excellent on every level. However, the mid-afternoon service left something to be desired. We had a 2:30 reservation, so the room began to clear out not long after we were seated, and there were quite a few empty tables (a rarity for this restaurant). In spite of that, the kitchen was incredibly slow -- I didn't get my first course until I'd been seated for 50 minutes, by which time I was ready to eat a napkin. The servers didn't even apologize for the delay, and then it turned out that they had neglected to even put in one of the dishes I ordered, so I had to wait some more. I was disappointed in lunch service, because dinner service is normally excellent.

Outstandingly fresh seafood. They cook everything perfect, so you'll have the crispy skin and the tender, succulent interior. Try the whole grilled fish of the day with the sauce on the side. A generous touch of sea salt and some olive oil balance the flavor perfectly. Other standouts are the oysters. They don't have a billion varieties, but what they do have are chosen for the pinnacle of freshness. They also have Louisiana's master chucker in the house, so that's a cool plus. You can get off-menu items, such as tuna belly and collar, which adds to the experience. Very energetic vibe with a mix of hipsters to high-end business people. Servers are pleasant. Can't recommend Peche enough.

We loved this restaurant. Would highly recommend getting the crab claws from the raw bar. The whole redfish was perfectly done, and the brussels spouts are some of the best I have ever had. The James Beard recognition is completely deserved. Will definitely be back next time we visit the city.

The food was very good at Peche. However, the hostess was an issue. We booked for 5:30, the latest Open Table reservation 2 weeks out. When we arrived the restaurant was practically empty and my husband asked for a 4-top instead of a two. It was a major ordeal even when we assured the hostess that we would be out in about an hour as we had another engagement. She actually stood there and argued with us before pouting and seating us as requested. Put a buzz-kill on the whole experience. That said, the food was as good as we had expected. We eat early and like small plates. The fish sticks, fried bread and smoked tuna dip were divine!

Took my dad for his birthday and was very pleased. Made my reservation a few weeks out for a Wednesday, and 6:30 PM was the most "prime time" reservation I could get - and the bar was packed full of people waiting for a table when we left. It also got pretty loud in there. The service was professional but not snooty and the bar program was very good - split a bottle of chablis and then had a glass of their house sparkling wine and a Hemingway, both great. We had the mussels and the smoked drum salad for appetizers, and then split the whole grilled cobia and a side of brussels sprouts (you have to get them!). The cobia was pricey at $80, but it was a huge fish and perfectly prepared. Dad liked the sorbet, too. It was an excellent meal.

I brought my boss there for lunch for Bosses' Day -- the food was delicious as always -- the gumbo was to die for -- tons of okra -- we both love okra. We had the shrimp roll which was delicious -- tons of shrimp; great sauce and you can never go wrong with brioche! We're definitely fans of Peche

Great meal at Peche. Shared a red fish. Was cooked perfectly and the sauce/pesto was delightful. The drum appetizer special was very outstanding. Great service and a great feel to this restaurant. The Shrimp Corn Bisque was the only disappointment: Salty and not interesting at all. After the big red fish, there was no room for dessert.

Just like their other restaurant Couchon, this place makes no mistakes. The hip, open, loft-like atmosphere is great; the servers are fantastic and the food is solid and precise. You won't leave feeling like you got a bargain, but you do"get everything you paid for." Salads are the out for the heathy. Oysters are same as anywhere in NOLA, but more expensive. Tuna app, fired bread, lobster dish are fantastic.

I went for lunch and found the seafood to be top notch quality. For folks who are looking for a "New Orleans food experience" or Cajun food--I don't recommend this place for you. However, if you want excellent quality seafood and service - then do eat here! I had some of the best ruby red shrimp ever and an excellent tuna tartare. Both were very fresh and delicious - what I'd expect from a top seafood restaurant. I also had gumbo and a green salad - both were good - but it was the seafood that shined and left me wanting to come back for more.

I will never think of pink lady peas in the same way again, now that I've experienced what the Chef at Peche can do with a fresh little pea. This underlay perfectly supported my scrumptious and very nice-sized portion of fresh cobia. We had ordered the fried artichoke hearts the night before at another place in town and they were inedible. Peche's were vibrant and not greasy! I've already told everyone at work about those artichokes! the BBQ shrimp were incredible as was the very large and bright Rose' we enjoyed with our lunch. Thank you!!!!

We went to Pêche on a Friday night. It was pretty crowded and very loud but we had reservations and were seated promptly. We ordered the hush puppies (phenomenal) and the shrimp bread (I think that's what it was - it was just ok) to start. My husband got the shrimp roll (he said it was a little heavy on the mayonnaise but every shrimp roll is!) and the rest of us shared the whole redfish. It was wonderfully seasoned & delicious. The only complaint I would have is that it was small (the table next to us got a larger fish) but it was great. We also got the fried Brussels sprouts which we all loved. We finished with key lime pie (good but not the best), mojito sorbet (unique and delicious), and pineapple cake (yum)! Overall great food!

We were trying to get in for dinner but could not get a reservation. So we settled for lunch. Boy are I glad we did. We started off with two dozen oysters for the 4 of us. Only complaint is that they came at the same time as the main courses. So they became dessert and they were fresh and big. Two of us had the redfish on brioche, which was like the best tuna melt you ever had. The others had drum fish and a shrimp roll and they were totally pleased with their lunches. Portions are on the larger side, but that did not stop us from making all gone. Only two more words to add...GO THERE!

Tourist trap. I'm from Nola, and restaurants like these are rare outside of the French Quarter. 1st, I go to the bar, and the bartender asks me to leave the service area. I did, but instead of then taking my drink order, the bartender proceeded to ignore me.... On to the meal. We ordered our drinks and 2 apps which were fried nonsense. Waitress was very nice, but we had to wave her down to give her our entree order. The entrees came out quickly -too quickly to be fresh. My wife had the cobia, which was undercooked. She sent it back. I had the drum, which looked like blackened catfish swimming in sauce. On the way out, the maitre d asked how the meal was, and my wife responded honestly. He got snippy, and I whisked us out the door.

Peche was recommended by a coworker and after one visit, we decided it was definitely worth a return visit and have now been back again. The food is great, the staff is friendly and attentive without feeling like they're hovering or rushing. They also gave recommendations that seemed real rather than like pushing for a directed dish. The first time we didn't have reservations but were quickly seated at the oyster bar. There was no difference in the level of service, and we found out later that the oyster shucker that night had won 3rd place as the fastest in New Orleans. Lots of fun and good conversation! Definitely worth the price (which is not bad, by the way; cocktails are average/high but beers and wine by the glass reasonable.)

New Orleans has a plethora of great restaurants but this one is particularly memorable. The food is creative and great for foodies. In addition, the service is exceptional. The wait staff are knowledgeable about the menu and provide just the right amount of attentiveness to guests. I was looking forward to trying out this award winning "Best New Restaurant" and see how it stacked up. The food was really good. However, this was some of the worse service I have experienced in any New Orleans restaurant. We had three difference waitpersons come by our table. Even at that, it took forever to get our order taken. The third person who showed up at our table seemed more interested in providing us service. The food was very good. But there are many other restaurants in New Orleans with excellent service and excellent service that cost about the same for a meal. I am concerned if the renowned chef owners don't get their dining room service vastly improved this will be frequented by tourist but not reliable locals.
