  • "Everything was absolutely delicious! We started with an appetizer of smoked trout and ricotta. Our entrees were mouthwatering. I had the pappardelle pancetta pasta, and my husband had the bolognese. For dessert, we shared the butterscotch pudding. This was, hands down, the best dessert we have ever had."

  • "We chose this restaurant because they advertise farm to table, organic ingredients. The ambiance is a bit on the hipster/trendy side - especially for a pretty laid back town like Half Moon Bay. IfWe went for lunch at 2:30 and there weren't many people there, but the hostess seated us at a table where people next to us were literally 8" away. If I jerked my elbow, I probably would've knocked someone's drink off of the table. We asked to be reseated and she put us in another table just as bad. Finally, on the third attempt, we got a decent, comfortable table. The food was fantastic. The service was pretty good. It's a little pricey, but most of HMB is pricey (though this is not a place on the water) and organic usually is more expensive."

  • "A well-established Main Street HMB classic offering carefully prepared rustic Italian cuisine in sedate, well-appointed modern surroundings--all house-made w/sustainable local produce and proteins. I particularly enjoy their composed salads at lunch. Today, our server mentioned a special with Ecuadorian prawns I substituted for the scalllops in my usual salad with great result--thinly sliced avocado lined the plate, along with other goodies & several beautiful whole shrimp in shell--light & easy to eat while in conversation. We shared a nice crisp half bottle of sparkling rosé. Vegetarian choices, too, including a tasty ribolita. Service is cordial & professional. Only outdoor dining: a few sidewalk tables."

  • "Food was really good. Service a bit hit and miss but once order placed was swift. Home made pasta were great and portion sizes under control. Got there 5 mins early for our reservation, we had to wait 5 ins to be seated ta the table that was free when we got there. Only real negative was cooking smell on our clothe."

  • "The special of black cod was excellent, but the prosciutto was a little overpowering in the scallop dish. The meyer lemon dessert was also wonderful. However, as usual, the Caesar salad was disappointing. The service was a little too efficient. The bus boy removed our plates immediately after we had finished, or maybe we hadn't finished. A little more leisurely pace would have been preferable."

  • "Pasta Moon is a good solid choice for food and service. It's also nice to be able to stroll the streets of Half Moon Bay either before or after dinner. My issue with our dining experience is that the restaurant now has the tables so close together that when you dine, you're almost literally dining with strangers at your table. This will give me pause before returning."

  • "Service was poor. They did not have enough serving staff to cater for the diners. We ordered sparkling water and that arrived 15 mins into the meal. We returned the un-opened bottle. They missed one of the appetizers and only got it once reminded. The main course arrived 3 mins after the missed appetizer had arrived. The food seemed like it was prepared in a hurry. Seafood puttanesca that I ordered had cold mussels, just thawed and served, it seemed. Extremely disappointing. I realize that there was a large walk-in party and they were out of their elements and it was obvious."

  • "Pasta Moon is now one of my favorite restaurant. First of all, we were seated as requested at the private place of the restaurant. There were five of us and celebrating my birthday. The place is so nice and romantic. Great for a group as well as for just a couple. Everyone was friendly. The best part was our waiter, Very personable, funny, friendly and attentive. He never hurry us up and he definitely knows every part of the menu and specialty dish of the night. Two of us ordered the special which was very good. I will come back to this place again and hopefully we get the same waiter. We love the appetizer which is the prawns as well. Very good sauce! Love my cappuccino!"

  • "Food was wonderful BUT waite staff did nothing special for our "birthday celebratant". She asked what was the occassion and we all said we were celebrating our friend's birtday. Nothing else was said or done for him. Very disappointed - why bother to ask"

  • "This is our periodic return visit to Pasta Moon - it is our 1st choice of restaurants when we go to Half Moon Bay. There is always a few specials, they buy food locally, and the menu changes periodically so you are always get the best of what is in season. The service is consistently attentive and friendly - you are never rushed and are always made to feel special. On this visit we had the Asparagus Fritti as an appetizer and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! We both ordered scallops but one had a scallop salad and the other had scallops and pasta - and the scallops were very tender. The waiter heard us mention that we were celebrating a birthday and put a candle in the Meyer Lemon Parfait dessert - so thoughtful!"

  • "A great coastal hot spot! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he loved it! I was a bit baffled though when the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything special after I had mention of this on our Open Table reservation. I repeated the news of the celebration anyhow. Apparently this didn't do the trick either, as dessert came and went with no candle and no complimentary anything. Thanks for making our moons bright!"

  • "The restaurant was quiet with not many patrons but the staff was very attentive and friendly. They had fresh flowers in the restaurant and the smell of the kitchen and flowers was great. My wife ordered a local wine which was fantastic and I orders an equally nice cocktail and the food was even better. You can taste the freshness and care try put in every dish. If you're in Half Moon chat or near it I'd suggest coming to this charming town and enjoying Pasta Moon."

  • "We had a lovely meal. The lasagna was excellent and the wine our waiter recommended was very good as well. One small issue was that our food was served so quickly that we barely had time to sip our wine before it arrived. Service was attentive and the restaurant is nice, but it looks and feels a bit dated. It is also quite expensive."

  • "I have been coming here for a long time. The remarkable thing is not how great the food and service is (they are exceptional), but rather how consistent it is. I have never caught them on a bad day. I always get one of the pizzas, then lasagna, then butterscotch pudding. Yum!"

  • "We've been coming to Pasta Moon for over 25 years. At first we thought of it as a "special occasion" restaurant, but it soon became a favorite place if we just wanted a mid-week treat without breaking the budget. The menu constantly evolves with new and interesting dishes using fresh local ingredients, but also retains old favorites like lasagna. The wine list is just the right length, and the servers are knowledgable about pairing wine with diners' entrees. All in all, this restaurant's a gem."

  • "Our go-to establishment for a special occasion. it never disappoints. We had the mussels for an appetizer and I wanted to drink the bowl with all the broth afterwards cause it was so good. I had the crab pasta special which was mouthwatering. my husband had the bread soup and a pizza margherita. And we had the cara cara salad which was excellent. the wines suggested by the waitress were both very good. And we had the butterscotch pudding with the suggested paired dessert wine. Excellent!"

  • "Great Italian food. One of my favorite Italians restaurants. However, the service can be sporadic and inconsistent. On this occasion, the waiter served our appetizer after we were served our main entrees. On another occasion, my wife requested that her main entree be wrapped up to take home since she was too full and barely touched her dish. Apparently, the waiter forgot and threw away my wife's dish. When we asked about it, he just offered a free dessert.....pointless since we each just ordered and finished our desserts!"

  • "I went to Pasta Moon with my girlfriend for dinner on Valentine's. For some reason I had assumed that this was a small cozy restaurant but it is actually a large space with layout that includes multiple small rooms which makes it feel cozier than it would otherwise feel. I had been informed a few days before by the restaurant that the menu was prefix that evening for a 4-course meal set at $75. This would not have been a problem if the menu was a bit more inspiring and the food better prepared. Together we tried 8 different meals and deserts and we found all of them to be lacking in taste and flavor. I believe we left half of every meal we were served."

  • "The new adjacent "warehouse" space loses the charm and coziness of the original; certainly not a romantic retreat for a special day. Despite a lengthy wine list, the only champagnes by the glass seemed to be inexpensive or sweet Prosecco's. The bottle choices were either similarly low-end or very high-priced offerings--nothing moderate ($50-70) with quality. How can you not have good champagne choices for Valentine's Day? The food was OK in this prix-fixe menu, but nothing special. Good desserts, but the entree filet minion was overcooked and tough. Each item was obviously pre-prepared, sitting on some shelf waiting for too long. All in all, a disappointing downturn from the Pasta Moon I remembered from 3 years ago."

  • "Pasta Moon continues to amaze me! The most vibrant, consistant place to eat in Half Moon Bay. Had dinner there with a couple of friends the other night. Had the Cara Cara Orange salad - fresh and light - tasted like everything had just been picked. The linguine with crab special was incredible. This dish is reason enough to go to Pasta Moon before crab season ends. It's a delicate, but flavorful dish with just a touch of cream. Seriously, I could eat this every day. My friend ordered the fish of the day which was cod prepared in a mediteranean style. She raved about it. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter helped us pick wines - all great and reasonably priced. Love this place!"
