Diner Reviews
  • "Always stop in at the Park Grill when I'm in chi-town: NEVER disappointed! Great food, excellent service, wonderful experience."

  • "I'm not sure if I would recommend The Park Grille or not. Everything was okay otherwise, but they were holding a private event in most of the restaurant with a few tables being used to accommodate diners with reservations. So while we were trying to enjoy the our sparkling wine and seasonal risotto, we were in the midst of minglers with name tags holding a celebratory meet-and-greet, complete with the head of the organization acting like a cheerleader, and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle giving the keynote speech. Really, this event should have been in a private room somewhere or the entire restaurant should have been closed for it. I'm not sure if I will try again to check out the ambience, but this was a disappointment."

  • "We have eaten here many times. I have had the whitefish before but the portion seemed much smaller this time. The waiter said it is supposed to be 6 oz. but I said it looked smaller. She then brought a much larger piece, which was great although strange that the replacement was so much larger. For $24 the portion should have been larger. The beet salad was delicious. The outdoor area is very lovely."

  • "Park Grille has lost its air of class. The booth bench I sat on is torn, badly needs reupholstery. The menu is now encased in greasy-spoon-diner plastic. One waitstaff's jeans seemed to be falling down. The ambience is one of unkemptness."

  • "The server was polite and attentive, however, the french fries were room temp at best."

  • "Dined outside on the covered patio. Music from Millennium Park made it a bit loud, but we were still able to conduct business without shouting. Lunch salads were ample and tasty, and reasonably priced. My only critique is that we were largely ignored before and during our meal. It took a long time to be noticed after all four of us arrived. Meals were served quickly after ordering, but the server never asked if anyone wanted coffee or dessert after lunch. He just dropped the bill on our table."

  • "Good food but service could improve. Outdoor dining is a plus!"

  • "We had reserved an out-side table without knowing that big tent would be blocking all views of the park and that a charity event was taking place inside the tent. Since we had made this request, I wish the restaurant had given us a little forewarning but we ended up seated inside anyway. I remembered a great meal there several years ago. This one was not quite a good. Wait staff was a little overly-familiar in his friendliness. While I would go back, I probably would stick with the sandwich fare in the future."

  • "I am 20 years old & went to Park Grill last Saturday for dinner with my boyfriend. The food was great & the hostesses were more than polite. Unfortunately, our waiter was less than ideal. First of all, we sat at the table for 15-20 minutes before we even saw our waiter. Finally, when he arrived he soon realized we were a) under drinking age and b) unable to afford the most expensive items on the menu, so he paid us ZERO attention. In fact, after ordering we did not see him again for the remainder of our meal. We even had to ask the bus boy for our check (after waiting another 20 minutes after the table was cleared..!). The meal was great and everyone else was awesome - must've been a dud waiter. (Or maybe just don't go if you're young)."

  • "Our waiter started off by telling us how short staffed they were...not my problem, just do your job!"

  • "I don't know if any of the "legal" issues are affecting this place or not...but the hostess was a joke!! I had made my reservation through open table & she looked at me like I wasn't speaking English! After about 5 minutes of her looking she found my reservation and said it would be a 15-20 minute wait or 1/2 hour if we wanted to sit outside. What's the point of having a reservation? We told her 1st available was fine and that we'd wait at the bar. After waiting 1/2 hour we decided to eat at the bar. AFTER our food had arrived the hostess came and asked me if I was Diana...a 46 Y/O male!! Better get people that know what they're doing or there'll be a new place in that spot!!"

  • "Excellent menu. We would definitely return. Excellent food, service, and wonderful atmosphere. We dined with a couple from Alabama and they both commented that they would definitely return for another dining experience."

  • "We ordered the Pork Chop, Chopped Salad, Salmon risotto and Shrimp and Lobster Ballerine. The meat was under-cooked, tough and had a lot of gristle; the Salmon was burned and slapped atop dyed green risotto. The slaw was missing. The pasta was sold out for the day. A substitute pasta was offered. Spaghetti was ordered. We were served about a 1/4 cup of fettuccine with only 3 small shrimp, no lobster, no asparagus. Another pork chop was served instead of the salad. Silverware was dirty. A full plastic water bottle dropped from the terrace above, hit the canopy over our heads and landed on the sidewalk. The waiter laughingly said, " if its anything valuable, they'll be down to get it - incidents like this happen all the time." Beware!"

  • "Very good food, but service that needs improvement. The hostess attempted to seat my party of 2 at a table that blocked the way of the in/out door to the patio (We asked and were moved, but it is still annoying to have been led to this table in the first place while other options were available.) Service was slow, spotty, and unfriendly. We did enjoy our burrata flatbread appetizer and seared ahi tuna entrees. Wish the service matched what else the restaurant offers--great location and food."

  • "We had a terrible time no staff to service us the poor bar tender was our waiter trying to do both. We had a party of 8."

  • "Skip this place. Took a group after a theatre performance. We were cramped at a table. Not good seating for bigger groups. The bathrooms were unisex. Yuck. The service was horrible. The drinks were horribly overprice priced and watered down. The food menu was odd for American fare overpriced and was not great. Our group had steak tacos flatbread soup and a pasta dish. The tacos were not good. They in all fairness took them off the bill. The bill was still 185 for a group of six with just a soup flatbread pasta and two rounds of drinks left. I would not ever recommend this place. A miller lite is ten dollars. Skip it. Petterinos is classier better service and cheaper. But you have to make reservations way in advance."

  • "Great food in a great location in downtown Chicago. A broad selection on the menu and prices, while a bit high, are not out of line with the area. Would recommend it for special occasions!"

  • "Kind of generic, not very adventurous. Good for out of town tourists."

  • "I wasn't to fond of this place. I went right before dinner time placed my order only to find out about 10 minutes later that they had run out of ribs. I chose to leave the restaurant at that point because if I has wanted a burger to begin with I would have just gone to the park plaza across the side walk. Also service was a little on the slower side."

  • "Love the outdoor seating. Menu changes periodically. Never been disappointed."

  • "I had high hopes for this spot given location, online research, and initial impression. The service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The crab cake was good overall, but the cake itself was under seasoned. My trout with the seasonal risotto had the same problem. It also appeared to be trying to do too many things and appeal to too many people. It is probably a great lunch place, but at night, on a date, too many sandwiches and not enough entrees."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "I had their salad with crab meat - very fresh, tasty and not heavily loaded with dressing. The bread is delicious as well. Friends had a similar good experience with their food. Service very friendly and accommodating. Perfect when near Grant Park."

  • "The quality of the food at the Park Grill has improved considerably over the past few years but recently the portion size on for example, the whitefish is now too small."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "This was our first (and perhaps only) visit to Chicago and we were determined to catch all the "must dos". The Park Grill did not disappoint as one of these. We had a table outside, great brunch (I had the omelette of the day and my husband the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon), a fsuper-friendly waiter and lots of fun people watching in Millenium Park."

  • "It was a nice lunch, great food and drinks, great service. Ann Marie is. The best!"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Too loud and warm inside dining room. Wait person did not understand that the soda syrup needed changing and kept bringing the kids seltzer water instead of Sprite. Slow service on food delivery but once we got it, it was good. Bathrooms not sufficient and were on the dirty side."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Bad service, cold food. Not what we expected for a birthday dinner."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "I was dining alone (traveling for business) and sat outside. I waited at least 15 minutes before my waitress waited on me. The "bus boy" (an older gentlemen) was nice enough to bring me water and bread so that I could nibble on it while I waited. I guess I expected service to be a little better. It was quick soon after my waitress finally came and took my order. And my crab cake was delicious and the wine."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The salads (in particular arugula and asparagus) and flatbreads (in particular the mushroom pizza) were actually excellent; the regular pasta (tortellini with spinach and ricotta (billed as a special) and linguine carbonara) were pedestrian. Service was attentive, but not hovering, and very friendly. The location, in Millennium Park, is very convenient to whatever sights one might want to see in downtown Chicago."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Mussels were poor looking. We reserved thinking four star. And not close."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "You won't find anything exotic about this menu. It is standard American dining fare. The prices for sandwiches/side entrees are decent, and the restaurant is in a great location under the bean. A good place for taking visitors or diners who are not into "foodie" meals."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "For years, the Loop was dead in terms of restaurant offerings, other than the old standbys (Berghoff, Miller's Pub, Italian Village). The Park Grill offers a very nice alternative, with their beautiful park setting, vibrant outdoor dining, and varied menu that provides a variety of food and prices. You can grab a soda and a burger for about $15, or dine on steak and cabernet. I had a wonderful salmon over risotto and the fried calamari. Love the fact they take reservations as well. Will definitely be going back for our pre theatre/symphony dining."

  • "The waiter was no where to be seen or found after the order was placed. The appertizers and the main dishes were served 2 minutes apart with no room on the small table and the main dishs getting cold before we finished the apertizers. 2 of us order ribs but were told there are no steak knifes to cut the meet, only dull knifes. The fries arrived ice cold."
