Don't be offended if you wait 5 or more minutes to be acknowledge to put your name on the list even with a reservation. It's part of the fun. Decided to eat there again Saturday night. It was that good! FYI we are New Yorkers."

Since we have been to the North End on many previous visits and had some amazing Italian meals we were open to trying a new restaurant. Panza did not meet our expectations with either the food or service. Really not much to recommend."

We were so happy to find that there is another great restaurant with very reasonably priced food. All of our entrees were delicious. The mussels in the fra diavolo sauce were excellent, we even finished up the sauce dipping our bread in it. Its a great place to go on a gorgeous summer evening since they have large windows that open to the street. We will definitely be back."

  • "This is a reasonably priced delicious little Italian gem on Hanover St. Everything is perfectly seasoned and lucious. There are 2-3 well-seasoned male waiters that execute their jobs perfectly with wonderful timing. True professionals! Fresh specials each day. The food is prepared with love! Beer and wine only. I love the white wine sangria! Yum!"

  • "We went to this place last night (6-24). We live in the north end and try out a lot of places. This place was packed on a tues night! That should tell you about its reputation. We had the chopped salad to begin and no hyperbole: The dressing was the best Italian dressing we've ever had! We ordered the braised beef and rigatoni w/peppers & sausage. Wow! The cut of meat was very perfect & the sausage was spicy and just the right amount. We had a delightful glass of red wine (6 bucks!).. A fantastic California cab. The server was not only cute (and tan) but attentive and he knew exactly when to come back to the table. We waited about 10 minutes even though we had a reservation... Not bad for the north end on a summer night."

  • "Went to Panza for the first time on 6-21-14. The food was amazing. Family style chopped salad and bruschetta were the best I have ever had. I had the chicken Panza dish which had a marsala flavored sauce; amazing. My husband had veal saltimbucca, our friends had eggplant parm and the ribs.... everyone enjoyed the food. Its very small and tight inside but thats a true North End experience. They do take reservations which is great. Felt a little rushed but expected that on a picture perfect Saturday night. No dessert or coffee though so you need to take a walk to one of the fabulous dessert places. A must try"

Bread was fantastic, wine by the glass was decent but a great pour, linguine pescatore with fradiavolo sauce was perfect, with just the right amount of spice. My friend got the spinach and ricotta ravioli which was also very good. The only negative about the experience was the long wait *despite the fact that we had made reservations 2 weeks in advance.* Our reservation was for 8pm, we got there at 7:45 and did not get a table until 8:25pm. This defeats the whole purpose of having reservations in the first place."

Just past all of the tourist traps on Hanover, Panza serves consistently great food and a small space that makes it seem communal in the early hours and romantic as the sun goes down. The Goat cheese and wild mushroom app is a must have year round. They had a delicious burrata app special, as well as crowd pleasing entrees. Also 21 bucks for a bottle of wine, not to shabby."

  • "First time there. We had a reservation and arrived on time but still had to wait for 25 minutes to be seated. Service was average. Server oddly brought out a bowl of pasta soon after we ordered and left it on our table for five minutes before realizing it belonged to another table. Food was below average. The chicken was overcooked and therefore dry. The sauce was excessive in amount and lacked flavor. The sense I got was that the place was crowded--perhaps overbooked--and the servers and cooks were struggling to complete all orders. Although it is one of the more reasonably priced places in the North End, I doubt I'd go back."

It's not a place for a romantic dinner, no white tablecloths ,etc. However, if you're looking for good food at a reasonable price served by an attentive staff then Panza is a great choice. We have been to many of the north end restaurants and although we like most of them, we feel that Panza offers the best value. "

  • "We started with the bruschetta and it was amazing. I ordered the veal parm and it was perfect - not over breaded and really good sauce. The only issue with the food was my boyfriend ordered the veal saltimbocca which was served over mushrooms - not a big deal except he is allergic and the menu didn't list it (even though there was a lot). There is no hostess or hostess stand so checking in is awkward and not inviting. You should definitely plan on making reservations, but even then expect a bit of a wait. Our waitress was great and the reason for the 3 stars - the other servers were rude and not helpful with the awkward check in process. There are probably better restaurants in the North End but this one was pretty good."

  • "I had an early dinner (5:00 PM) on Sunday, May 25. We had made reservations based on reviews read in different social sites, including Open Table. The food was delicious, at what I believe a reasonable price. My husband had one of the specials of the day - Saffron lobster raviolis and they were delicious. My Linguini Pescatore was very good. The chopped italian salad was OK, nothing special. I would definitely return and recommend Panza -- but, you defiinitely need to make reservations. I was impressed by the amount of people that were turned away. "

  • "We arrived for our reservation and there was a long line. O.K., but there was no one who acknowledged our presence. Went to back to let them know we were there, they told us to stand in line. Waited and waited, finally when the service person went outside to find a foursome who had He seated us and two ladies who had been waiting the longest. He had names written on pad, but not ours, but I mentioned Open Table and he then seated us, The same person who seated us was our waiter. Don't know if they were short staffed. but I expect at least an acknowledgement of my presence. Once seated the food and service was very good. Will I return? Only if I walk by and see that seating will not be a problem. Should not be on Open Table."

  • "I stay in the North End when I'm in town working and I like this place for good food and a friendly atmosphere. It's casual, but ok to come dressed from work, too. Panza is very small, which has +'s and -'s. Things can get harried when it's really busy, so I prefer to go later when things wind down and the noise level drops. This is not a place for groups (more than 5). The food seems fresh and there are classics plus specials to keep it interesting. Veal Panza was a nice twist on Marsala and very good. The wine list is not long or sophisticated, but it's very good value. Panza doesn't offer dessert. It means tables seem not to linger as long, so if you're waiting, that's good. And if you want, there are lots of good cafes nearby. "

  • "My family and I went to Panza in order to celebrate my graduation. The food and wine menu was simple and small. The specials menu was located on the wall and three of us ordered the specials from there. Since we ordered appetizers and entrees, we weren't bored and the food came out quickly enough for us not to be too hungry but slow enough to give us time to digest. The restaurant was very quite since we were there early so that my parents could catch their flight. Regarding space, even though they can fit a lot of people, the place is pretty cozy and too small for any group over 6. Overall, great place to eat dinner."

  • "I made a reservation for 8:00 on a Saturday night, as soon as we got there we could not find the hostess and we're told to wait in the hallway. We waited about a half and hour with several other couples who had reservations at the same time or earlier. The restaurant itself is tiny and very loud making it hard to talk to the people at your table. The food was very good, there were large portions and it came out quickly after we ordered. If the wait had not been so long and the waitstaff had not been so disorganized the restaurant would be a real find."

  • "After reading some reviews online, I made sure to make a reservation. This place is small as most are other restaurants in the area, so it can fill up and be quite busy. I made the reservation for 5:30, on the earlier side, for this reason. When we arrived, we weren't greeted right away or with much enthusiasm but I imagine the waitress/hostess was a little frazzled. With that said, a table was cleared and we were able to sit. We had the table right by the door which was a bummer but out of their control as it was busy. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was AMAZING. They were very quick! I think our food came maybe 10 minutes after we ordered. Recommend the chicken piccata. Pretty loud inside; don't expect a quiet meal."
