Diner Reviews
  • "We've been here several times and always love it. The only negative is that it is loud when crowded. Food is superb, service is good and view is great. Plan on going back."

  • "We were a party of six and everyone was happy - unbelieveable!"

  • "Don'tl let the "fish camp" name scare you - this is nothing like the old school fish camps that sold bait and tackle along with a basic menu of bad food. PVFC is the real deal, and the fact that it's hard to get a reservation reinforces that. All the fish dishes we had were very good, and so were the appetizers. You should know that the grits they serve are not traditional - they are spiced and spicy but also good. We're going to try their other place in Atlantic Beach next!"

  • "I picked this restaurant based on reviews and the ocean view. The menu was sparce, dated and faded. The food was good. The view was very nice. This is not a "something special" restaurant. The could use a lot of work on the menu."

  • "We have been here many times and the food is always great. Love the fried green tomatoes and fish with grits preparation. Never disappoints!"

  • "Been to the Fish Camp multiple times and its always great. Favorite "go to" in the area..."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. So much so, we returned again the next night. Cast iron snapper and mahi dishes were exquisite. Ambiance and service were outstanding. Highly recommend. We will return every time we are back in the area. Yum!"

  • "We had reservations for 7:30 and waited about 15 minutes for a table with a great view. The service was prompt, efficient and our waitress was very knowledgable regarding the menu in general as well as specials of the day. Excellent recommendations were made and our meal was excellent. The restaurant is boisterous. Not unexpected considering the crowd. Valet parking great. Will return on my next visit to Jacksonville!"

  • "I usually go to North Beach Fish Camp and I am always so impressed, however, Palm Valley exceeded no expectation. Our server seemed irritated and in a rush and my salmon dish tasted like a pound of butter was dumped on it! I couldn't even taste the fresh salmon I was so used to receieving. At the end of our meal the server brought out one very large check and it was clear we all were there with our spouses. When asked if he could split it he huffed and puffed and stormed off. Definitely not something I would expect from a fine dining restaurant."

  • "We have dined at this restaurant many times in the past. All of our previous meals were good (or there would have only been one visit), but out last visit was the best meal yet. Kelly, our server was wonderful too. Only one negative observation about the place - They still try to squeeze too many tables in that place!!!"

  • "We dined at many different places in the area with visitors and this place was by far everyone's favorite. The food was pricy, but excellent. The service was also excellent. It was quite noisy, however, and very small... be sure to make reservations."

  • "I don't think I will ever have a complaint or suggestion to change anything to do with the food. Always superb and well worth any amount of a wait or crowd! We did have to wait 30 minutes past our reservation for our table, but I've come to expect a wait here regardless of whether I have a reservation or not (though having a reservation greatly reduces that wait). I think they may need to adjust the time they expect people to occupy a table; I think they are assuming 45 minutes, when most are staying at least an hour. There is never enough seating or parking, although I'm not sure how they can change this given there is no room to expand at this location and EVERYONE loves this place."

  • "I love this place. Unusual that I had to return my dish because it was too spicy. The waitress didn't explain that the dish was spicy and I don't like foods heavily spiced. I returned it and the manager came over and was very nice about it and offered to make me something else."

  • "Fantastic food. Lively atmosphere. Often a wait for a table - even if you book. Excellent place - worth it."
    Dined on 8/7/2014
  • "The mahi and grits with collards is mouth watering! I grew up at the beach and know seafood. This is definitely the best plate I have had at a restaurant in a long time! I highly recommend it! Sit outside for an awesome view and no noise!"

  • "We tried Palm Valley Fish Camp based on the reviews and they were right on! Some of the best calamari I've ever had. All dishes were outstanding, including the Pork Chops I'd you don't want fish. Service was very good, after a wait... even with reservations. The noise level made it very difficult to talk until the place started to empty out around 9:30 but that's what you get with a small, popular place. Looking forward to returning soon."

  • "We took my sister and her husband to dinner here on Wed night. I have already sent an email to the restaurant but I will fill this out , as well. My sister had the crab cake dinner and she was very happy with that. My brother in law and I had the fried shrimp dinner and my husband had the fried shrimp and scallop dinner. All of our dinners were burned on the outside and over cooked on the inside. The shrimp and scallops were hard. We have been here for lunch twice and for dinner once before and have had good meals. I don't know what the difference in the kitchen was this night but, hopefully, it has been corrected."

  • "(Douglas) was absolutely fantastic. We learned of this location through word of mouth while we were attending a conference at the Sawgrass Marriott and it lived up to the top billing and much more. The reservation process was flawless and included a phone call reminder the day of the reservation. The Valet attendant very polite and volunteered to take of photo of my wife and I so we could both be in the picture. The menu was impressive and the food presentation, temperature, and quality was perhaps the best we have ever experienced. A++++"

  • "Palm Valley Fish Camp is our favorite Ponte Vedra restaurant. We always visit more than once when we are here. The food is consistently delicious. The one negative would be that it is a little crowded if you are sitting at a table in the center of the room."

  • "Food was awesome as usual. Service was not up to usual standards. Chalking it up to bad night never been issue before."

  • "Another great experience last Friday night. Fried Green tomatoes and broiled oysters were excellent, as was blackened Mahi with grits and greens, Ahi Tuna and Trout. Excellent service provided by Christina."

  • "Every time we visit from New York we make it a point to have dinner at Palm valley"

  • "This place is designed to be noisy, crowded and friendly. Its part of the ambiance and if you are looking for that kind of a night, it seems to work. We found the food to be very good across the board. Our server was knowledgeable and well trained. They charged for bread and encouraged first course orders, so the bill added up even though the entrees are moderately priced. The specials came with a vegetable, the regular entrees did not. Shrimp and grits were delicious, but were just that, shrimp and grits. Regardless, we enjoyed the night. Reservations are recommended."

  • "I've never had a bad meal! The specials are too good to pass up!"

  • "Still the best restaurant in Ponte Vedra. The ladies are the best you will ever encounter at service. Do not miss this great place when in Jacksonville."

  • "Best seafood around. The Shrimp n grits and the mussels are no. 1!"

  • "Great food, but tables packed like sardines. Very noisy. Sure younger crowd will not mind"

  • "We were seated 30 minutes after reservation time, altho they did apologize & give us 1 free glass of wine ( not 1 each); extremely loud & boisterous, we couldn't hear each other. Food was very good, service was fine. This time the quality of the food did not offset the wait & noise"

  • "After a tremendous dinner, my wife and I decided to return for lunch two days later. The fried seafood platter at dinner included sweet bay scallops and shrimp, both of which were some of the best we've had (and we both have enjoyed some great seafood restaurants). The shrimp and grits dish was also terrific. For lunch, we both went with the shrimp salad sandwich, which we also raved about. Bottom line - this restaurant is hard to beat."

  • "By far the best tasting and freshest seafood. Awesome selection of dishes. Their shrimp-n-grits is by far the best that I have ever had. Always make a point to eat here when on vacation at Ponte Vedra Beach. Loud atmosphere mostly due to the size of the building, but great for groups."

  • "The food at Palm Valley was delicious and the service was great. Andy took good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. My salmon was cooked to perfection and my husband loved his fried oysters. We can't wait to go back again!"

  • "A very good experience each of the four times I have been here. Casual, energetic, welcoming and attractive. High quality, fresh seafood, prepared in a variety of popular ways. Positive ratio of cost to quality. Highly recommended."

  • "We like to bring visitors to PVFC to enjoy the scenic view and feel of "Old Florida". They have great daily menu choices and the food is always delicious. The service is always great too. Make a reservation, or you'll be waiting! Although, good things come to those who wait....."

  • "Palm Valley Fish Camp is always on our itinerary when we're in town. It made it twice this trip! Fresh fish, creative entrees and all around appetizing menu. Loved the crawfish, watermelon salad, shrimp & grits, snapper, fried green tomatoes and the bread pudding is transforming. I hear the steaks are amazing, but I just can't bring myself to pass up one of the fish entrees to taste it myself."

  • "PVFC was a great place for dinner, food amazing and the service was impeccable. The noise level was pretty high and I would consider this before bringing older people to eat there."

  • "Fresh seafood and small quaint place to meet friends or have a glass of wine."

  • "This is a little gem that was recommended to us by friends from our church. Love the location on the Intracoastal Waterway; this adds to an already excellent scenic view with the trees across the ICW. Really enjoyed the dock on the back and the chairs that give guests the opportunity to relax on the waterfront before or after their meal. My wife and I had seafood platters; she had fish and shrimp, while I had shrimp and oysters. The seafood was cooked perfectly, while the grits had a very different flavor. The grits not only were cooked with cream, but had a little clam stock in the mixture, which gave it a very different taste and texture. The parmesan cheese added a different bite to the taste. A nice place to visit again."
