Diner Reviews
  • "Very large restaurant that is great for groups. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. "

  • "Arrived early for my reservation, was accommodated promptly. I was led upstairs where it was a bit quieter. I was grateful for that, although downstairs was not very loud either. This was early evening. Food and service was excellent. I had the Tempranillo and skirt steak, just the way I like it. Rice with maduros mixed it, delish! I left a package behind by accident, which I retrieved hours later. They were holding it for me. Lovely place if you like Spanish food, this is for you. If you have difficulty with steps, you may want to reserve a table downstairs. Don't let it deter you, food was excellent."

  • "Everything for 4 of us was great except for the ceviche too soupy and not enough seafood. I had a different ceviche last time there that was much better"

  • "tapas we tried -blue crab croquettes, jumbo shrimp, crispy oysters and yukon fries. Everything was delicious, but the yukon fries were a disappointment. They weren't very crispy on the outside and sat in too much sauce so they became soggy and mealy. I had the coconut flan for dessert and my friend had the chocolate cake which she said was very rich and delicious. All in all I will come back again for another meal, perhaps brunch."

  • "I think we hit on an off night! The guacamole was bland, bread was burnt, mango mojito was not good. Tuna tacos were not as great as I remembered, but the beet salad was delicious. Usually this is my favorite place in town, but was disappointed. I will be back to give it another try though!"

  • "I love going to Pacifico even off the Prix fixe menu, but if you're on a tight budget this menu is a great deal for the money! And they make the best mojito's in town in my opinion. Service is quick but not rushed. I go back often."

  • "Tapas here are delicious. In particular, if you are feeling adventurous, the duck quesadilla with gouda and the pork belly apps are outstanding. Service here is also excellent - waiters here are friendly and very attentive. Excellent place. The only drawback is that the extra $9 for lobster with your seafood paella is not worth it - they give you the lobster head (the part with head and lungs, that you can't eat), one tiny claw, and half a very small tail that is about half an inch or so. Paella at Tapeo in Boston is still the best."

  • "Food was very good. Service was a little rushed. A few times, they tried to take away plates that still had food on them even though it was clear we were still eating."

  • "Exceptional food, service and drinks. Highly recommend."

  • "We had a Groupon or Living Social deal so the prices were more moderate for us. The food was great, especially the duck quesadillas, and the passionfruit jalapeno martini was also delicious. Accommodating friendly service on a Monday night made our dinner at Pacifico fun and tasty."

  • "I took my wife here on her 40th birthday and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the mojitos were outstanding. The BBQ sauce they put on the bacon wrapped pork tenderloins is some of the best we have ever tasted. I will definitely be recommending Pacifico to our friends."

  • "A friend suggested this place next time I visited New Haven. I was not dissapointed. The place was packed with a mixed crowd younger to older. Great vibe. I sat at the bar as there was a wait for table....bartender very helpful in wine and tapas suggestions. Wine was great, tapas even better. Decided to stay at bar even after table became available. Will definitely return next time I'm in town."

  • "I purchased a deal through Living Social and was looking forward to trying this restaurant. Sadly, I was disappointed. I thought the purpose of the Living Social deal was to bring in customers to build up the business. If that is the premise then they need to put their best foot forward so people will come back. Unfortunately this was not the case here. So between the so so food and the okay service, I probably will not return. Also I could have spent less without the coupon as you have to choose off a different menu, with limited choices."

  • "We ate at Pacifico prior to attending a play at thr Shubert. We had reservations for 6:00. We ordered rather quickly but had to wait at least 45 minutes for our appetizers to appear. The ceviche was nothing special. The steak chimichurri was difficult to cut. Food was not memorable and the kitchen needs to get food out in a more timely fashion"

  • "Pacificos has really good food and booze but you won't get the good stuff if you get their groupin on living social deal."

  • "A good restaurant, and very convenient if you are attending a show at the Shubert in New Haven. Good Latin food."

  • "Pacifico-New Haven is always fun and the food is very good for its type. It's the nearest thing to being in a Tapas restaurant in Barcelona, [ not bar but restaurant] minus all the fish dishes, without going to New York or to Spain for that matter. It has a small but well chosen selection of good and unusual wines, the dishes are not what you will find in most other restaurants and the execution is good. It is great for a group of people who are there to have fun with good food and drinks. The price is reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxed. The wait staff seems to care about the food and enjoy their work."

  • "This was my first time at Pacifico and I was very happy with the service and the food was great , our server recommend a great wine , Norton malbec , which we enjoyed very much.We had come to New Haven to see La Boheme and it was very close which was a good thing due to the wintery weather , would recommend it!"

  • "We arrived were seated on time. Waiter came right over took drink order and appetizer order. We received our drinks and waited 35 minutes for our appetizer. Waiter said the kitchen was running behind. Another table that had come was seated (appx. 15 minutes after we were). We look over and they were receiving their appetizer before we did. I got up and asked for a manager, he reviewed it and with that the appetizer came out -- frustrating, luke warm. From that point the manager apologized and took the table over. The main entree was sub-par at best. For a restaurant that is moderately priced, the service was terrible and the food was not good. I would not recommend this restaurant!"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Pacifico this past weekend. The service and atmosphere were very welcoming. It was a nice crowd considering it was snowing outside. We had an amazing meal with great vegetarian options for my wife and an incredible paradillada for myself. The food was cooked just right and had incredible flavors. We cannot wait to go back."

  • "We were able to get right in, even though we were 10 minutes late, due to traffic. We were worried because it was Valentines Day, but they held our reservation. Service was good and attentive. We took our time before ordering and the waitress didn't seem annoyed even though they were busy. Food and wine was fantastic! No complaints about the entire experience! Had a great time and can't wait to come back!"

  • "This was our third visit to Pacifico and will not be our last. Food and service were excellent. We chose to sit in the bar and it was comfortable and energetic, yet we were able to converse easily. Perhaps the best paella I have had, and my wife's pork dish was also delicious. The prix fixe menu was diverse and made it hard to decide what to order. Pacifico is becoming our New Haven favorite."

  • "We dined here last Saturday. We went early as we were dining with our children (13 and 12). However, even at 5.30ish the restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. Our meal was fantastic. All the tapas we ordered were sensational. Tasted great, well presented and a great mix of traditional and more adventurous dishes. Our waitress knew the menu very well and was excellent at describing each item we asked about. Wine list was also superb and well matched to the food. The meal was also very good value considering the quality of the experience."

  • "First off, the hostess that greeted us seemed rushed and unfriendly. We were seated at a table for 2 that was too close to two other tables. This was disruptive not just for my partner and I, but for the four other diners already seated. The space should only have two tables, not three. Our server was not rude, but I could tell that he wasn't happy to be there, and didn't really seem to know the menu. We ordered tapas, and they were average but not great. Looking at other diners who ordered entrees, they seemed to be happier. The seat also seemed to be directly over the subwoofer for the bar area, so the entire time the ground beneath us was vibrating. All in all, not a pleasant experience, especially for the price range."

  • "We were seated next to a large boisterous group but there were plenty of couples tucked away on the same floor as well. Although it was very hard to hear at first, once the group left, the ambiance became much more romantic. The food was very good, especially the paella and the housemade guac."

  • "Came here for a weeknight dinner with some friends, had a wonderful experience. Service was friendly and attentive, and we were seated right away. Every dish was perfect. I recommend the pork wrapped in bacon! Everything was flavorful, fresh and served at the right temperature. Great drinks and impressive wine selection."

  • "I'm a big fan of this place! Every thing we had was tasty and flavorful. The ambiance was quite friendly too. Best dishes were seafood paella, tuna tacos, and the chocolate cake. Will certainly go back!"

  • "We had heard raves about this place, so had high expectations. Food was good to excellent, depending on the dish, drinks very good. Service, however, was confused and disjointed--food showed up that we hadn't ordered, drink orders got mixed up, servers had to get the manager to identify which dish was which, etc. Maybe we hit an off night or unseasoned wait staff, but struck us as just so-so, overall."

  • "Good place to meet a friend for casual dining. Did not have a table reserved for us as requested. I had to find a table and get wait staff to set a table which had been used previous and before they opened. Food good. Not a place to meet for business lunch."

  • "My friend and I ate here for lunch one afternoon at the recommendation of a friend. I really enjoyed it. I had the lunch prix-fixe, Mojito, and the chocolate cake. The food is great! The drinks are delicious. It's Latin Tapas and a bit different then I expected. I would go again and again"

  • "The duck quesodilla is to die for! Many good entree items but trust your own judgement and don't ask for a recommendation. The service is a bit inattentive so order large drinks and in advance to keep yourself occupied for the slow service. Apps are great, entree was a little lacking. Overall a decent place if you're not a service snob."

  • "Great location and ambiance. Parking lot across the street. Appetizers were wonderful..quesadillas and empanadas .. The main course seafood paellas was tasty however the mussels could have been rinsed more.....A little sandy."

  • "My comments are based on the 3-course dinner voucher that I purchased. The food was excellent. The duck quesadillas were rich, filling and so flavorful. The salmon was very fresh and the sauce was delightfully rich and tasty. The skirt steak was well-seasoned. The menu was heavy on shellfish (which I don't eat). That being said, it was a delightful meal. Although our table was next to the bar, it was a quiet evening, so we had no bar noise. Our server was pleasant, but not overly attentive (we refilled our wine glasses) and it was a slow evening."

  • "While the food was great, it took 3 and 1/2 hours for dinner which was far beyond what we anticipated. We couldn't even get the waitress to bring us water. The length of dinner ruined the evening. Would not return."

  • "We always wanted to try Pacifico so we booked for 3 the day after Christmas at noon. It was clear they were not prepared for the day. We waited 30-45 min for 3 lunch entrees. Only 1 was good and I would recommend the duck quesadilla. A sandwich was left after one bite bad the tuna tacos were in a hard shell and not good. The waiter did take something off for the sandwich which was nice. Service was too slow."
