We first discovered Ottavio following a wonderful piece in Diablo Magazine last fall. On our first visit, we tried all the dishes mentioned in the article and were in total agreement that Ottavio is indeed a special restaurant! We continue to return for our favorites including the Swordfish, sturgeon and beef carpaccios (all house cured), the veal chop (memorable!), the ricotta gnocci with smoked duck, papardelle with a wild boar sugo, and the list goes on....We usually plan our next visit while we're still dining at Ottavio as we always leave wanting more!

Ottavio is a small restaurant with a charming ambience and delicious, unique offering like boar served over pasta that is simply amazing. I don't normally go for dessert, but the menu was hard to resist--e ordered three desserts to share amongst the five of us and lapped up every morsel. It's always fun to talk to the chef, and his wife is the most capable and welcoming hostess--the small restaurant makes you feel like you are getting an authentic Italian experience (the aubergine walls and cool dried flowers are subtle, warm and classy).

Everything wasa really as expected, excellent quality and service. The menu selection was not as varied as I expected and nothing jumped out at me that would want to make me return. Otherwise, as close to dining in Italy as you can get in Walnut Creek.Well worth a visit.

My beet salad was lovely-with oregano in the viniagrette-subtle and delicious.
The brined chicken was great-the sides could have been a bit more prolific.
Service was very good and we appreciated not being rushed! We would suggest
that their wine/beer and spirits menu be improved.

The food was good, but the restaurant was so loud that we will never return. We were right next to a big table of loud young people drinking, dining and being outrageous. We couldn't hear each other across our table, and it was a bad experience.
