  • "Ate here because of the every- Monday Acoustic Bistro. Went to see Emily Elbert. The food was good. The service was okay. Really need one more server but it isn't too bad. Good size venue for this type of music."

  • "This definitely our go to restaurant in the neighborhood. We are always welcome with open arms. You never can miss with the food."

  • "Haven't been here in years, but it's a good neighborhood restaurant. The food is very good, service could use some improvement. One diner's soup was forgotten and there was quite a long wait between first course and main. We'll go back to try it again."

  • "Osteria has the atmosphere of an Italian bistro with great food and good service. Maybe it was the particular night we were there but the noise level was so high that we struggled to have a conversation. The restaurant needs to invest in some noise dampening to make it possible to talk over dinner and really enjoy the place. Also, the staff seemed distracted so the service was a little off."

  • "I like to dine here with friends after seeing a local movie. This charming neighborhood spot is small so reservations are a good idea. I enjoy starting with one of their delicious salads (the arugula with their fresh-blended herb dressing is wonderful). This family-run restaurant really shines with its classic pastas and chicken and veal dishes (most served with lovely fresh vegetables) and offers a decent wine list. The other evening I ordered one of the specials, a half-chicken ($21) perfectly roasted and bathed in one of the best reduction sauces I've ever had. My friend ordered their pasta Bolognese, "to die for." For dessert we shared a yummy fresh mango sorbet. So, well-prepared classics in a quiet, relaxing reasonably priced spot."

  • "We've never had a bad meal at Osteria. Sometimes their specials are sublime."

  • "Excelent food. Veal and Salmon were well prepared not overdone. Been here several times and you can expect consistent food and service. Coffee should have been hotter. Salad as very freh, the butter lettuce was one of the best I have had"

  • "Osteria serves up the best eggplant parm I have ever had - thin, tender and coated with a light, flaky breading. My fellow diners enjoyed their food as well and recommend ordering with light garlic unless you really love garlic. Overall a great place for fresh pasta. I also appreciate the excellent wine recommendations."

  • "Osteria is a good neighborhood restaurant. The food and service are good. The gnocchi was very good. The restaurant is very loud. Recommend making reservations since it was quite crowded on a Saturday night."

  • "Sooner or later everyone in Pacific Heights winds up at the Osteria for its cucina Toscana. Couples, singles and families with well-behaved children all in evidence. Best pasta in the city, although I usually have the piccata."

  • "We had eaten at Osteria many times before and loved the food. This time the egg plant was undercooked and the scampi lacked flavor. The waiter was excellent, as was the wine and the sorbet. When we inquired about the noise level, the hostess explained that Friday nights are usually family nights. Would I go back? Not sure."

  • "We were visiting our daughter from the LA area. Osteria was in walking distance of our daughters home in Anza Vista and had seating available so we decided to try it out. We had a wonderful experience and will certainly visit next time we are in SF! All of the food was very good, the wine we ordered was exceptional and didn't have the markup one would expect. The wait staff did a great job and our server was very personable and made a couple of outstanding recommendations for our entrees. The deserts were all good and the atmosphere was very friendly and fit perfectly with the overall dining experience. If I had one (silly) complaint it would be they didn't offer a cannoli on the desert menu. Still all 5 stars and will definitely go back."

  • "I may have a major bias when it comes to this restaurant, but it is for good reason. I have only attended the Osteria a sparce 2 or 3 times but I MUST say that each time was exceptional. The food of course is unbelievable but that is not what gets me about this place. I am simply in love with the wait staff and the ambiance the osteria brings. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, hard to put into words, I guess it is one of those things one simply has to experience on their own to understand the quality. Cant wait for my next visit!!!!!!"

  • "We've been patronizing Osteria for over 20 years, and continue to go back even though it's no longer a 3 block walk away. The gnocchi are like marshmellows and the quality and taste combinations of every dish is while not extraordinary, very very good. Excellent by the glass wine selection to compliment any meal."

  • "We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Our waiter was very helpful in suggesting that we try the shrimp salad and the eggplant Parmesan. Both dishes were very good. He also suggested wines, which were also good pairings with the food. I will try to return there soon."

  • "We made reservations several days in advance. The host did not give us much of a welcome and tried to seat our party of 3 at the worst table in the restaurant. Better ones were available and not reserved near the front windows. When we asked (politely) if we could sit there, he agreed but was not very nice about it. Once settled, however, we enjoyed our meal of artichoke bottoms with shrimp and the main course of sauteed prawns with garlic, shallots, and lemon in a white wine cream sauce. Our server was very good and had a nice sense of humor."

  • "Osteria Cucina Toscana's Monday night music bistro was recommended by friends of one of three musicians. It's cosy, with pleasantly low lighting and very good food. Almost none was vegan but what was. was excellent: roast vegetables and an angel hair concoction. The generous pour of Paternoster (Italian red) was excellent. Kind of noisy, though, especially for a place with music where most of the patrons seemed friends of the artists. Also, those generous wine pours are almost too generous, therefore slightly pricey. It's almost as though you can have 1.5 glasses or 3 glasses. I'd prefer 2; but to get that, I've got to pay a lot and leave some. Lower the prices and slightly reduce the size? Staff pleasant and efficient if just a tad slow."

  • "We ate the Prix Fixe Valentine's day dinner. The salad was smothered in so much acidic dressing that I could not taste any of the nice components. Pesto gnooci was very sticky and the flavor flat. Veal in mushroom sauce was better, but again lacked delicacy and complexity.. Chocolate cake tasted wonderful and had excellent texture."

  • "Osteria Cucina Toscana serves simple, elegant, northern Italian fare in a cozy setting off the beaten track. This unpretentious neighborhood gem offers tasty food, an impressive wine list, and impeccable service. Our server handled our large party with finesse and joked with our children. The owner paid ample attention to her guests, some of whom were clearly on a first-name basis with her. If you seek good food, good vibes and a good deal, this is the place for you."

  • "We were 8 dining before an event across the street at the SFJCC. Our table was ready for us, we sat, we dined, we drank (great wine...Sexual Chocolate and Cannonball), and got out in time for our event. The staff was ready for us, despite the busy crowd. Service was excellent, and the food was as expected...just perfect. We had pasta, nochi, shrimp scampi, and salads. All just great. We always dine at Osteria before a SFJCC event...always have and always will!! Enjoy."

  • "I’d never been to this restaurant before, and chose it because I needed a reservation in the neighborhood at 5 pm. I was prepared to have to “make do” with generic food, but we were pleasantly surprised to have a very good meal with solid preparations of hearty meals. The portions of our stuffed rolled pork loin and risotto with chicken were not too big, and the first course of grilled vegetables was perfect: tender yet still firm. Our waiter was fabulous, with his timely attention to our requests and eating pace, despite a rapidly filled seating capacity (Osteria is quite popular). He truly knew not only what the menu dishes tasted like (a helpful guide when a diner is having to choose), but what the various wines by the glass tasted like."

  • "We went for their Acoustic Bistro night (Mondays) and it was fantastic. It is a small restaurant so it can get loud, but that might just be on Mondays. Amazing food. Great for date night."

  • "I love this restaurant! The food is wonderful and the waiters are charming. My only complaint is that they were out of several wines on the menu. But, they did find me a good substitute wine."
