  • "While the atmosphere is rather dated and the bar area very small, the service and food were both excellent. And of course the water view is wonderful! They were also very nice to bring us a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary and accommodate our last minute seating request ."

  • "My wife have been in Florida for two years and a friend recommended we go to a place on siesta key called ophellia's. Wow we were blown away. Food was superb service was great and we had a very romantic and wonderful dinner together. We will go back again very soon"

  • "Having never been to Ophelia's, made reservations for my sister's birthday. Everything from the apps to the wine to the entrees to the dessert, was really outstanding. The view on the bay was beautiful. We sat inside where you could see the beautiful marsh, birds, and the sun setting cast a light on the water and the nature that was really magnificent. The restaurant is a bit dated, but you don't care about this when you are there, because all eyes will be on your plates and the view. The food was delectable and the portions very nice. Service was wonderful. Menu is fresh and seafood is delectable."

  • "The Lazy man lobster is delicious. Mussels were extremely large and tender with a delicious dipping sauce. Scallops were large and tender. The only draw back was we felt that the rolls were stale."

  • "Food quality very good with a nice vista. Front of house could have been a little more friendly. More expensive than your average restaurant but you get what you pay for. Overall a very enjoyable evening."

  • "We spent our 30th anniversary here and had a special night. Ophelia's is a very romantic restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was delicious and the presentation was impressive. The Happy Hour at the bar was great, too! And, the view is awesome!"

  • "From the view to the service, the food and the wine, everything was outstanding. It was a beautiful evening to sit out by the water, the waiter was attentive without being intrusive and the food (the salmon and scallop entrees, flour less chocolate cake to share) was superb, perfectly cooked and just the right balance of flavors. I can't believe it took me so long to visit but I will definitely be going back regularly now."

  • "7:30 reservation on 7/5 for 4 & seated promptly. Waited 40 mins for a waiter to come over & server to bring water. Asked if would like some bread & be back in 20 seconds. Instead 20 mins later returned with drink. Said come back for order-much later ordered. Food came after almost 2 hours & said "back-up in kitchen". Why didn't a manager come around & state there was a problem?? Even at Applebees the manager makes sure all is satisfactory. Food was cold but didn't send back-wanted to just be done by then! Waiter brought us each a glass of wine with a "sorry". Why wasn't that brought when knew a problem with service & kitchen? Sent email but no response-poor management!"

  • "As Floridians, we have dined at Ophilia's on the Bay a number of times. The quality of food was good but not to the standards we have experienced and come to expect; and service was fair. Two of our party ordered Macallan 15 year and were initially served a watered down something-definitely not Macallan. The second try was successful. The overall experience did not measure up to expectations."

  • "We have been coming to Ophelia's for years and have never been disappointed. We have brought friends, family and colleagues and every single one has raved about the food and the beautiful views. It never fails to impress and the ambiance is perfect for either a romantic dinner for two or a dinner with friends. Food and vista aside, a nod to the staff must be given as they are every bit a part of the overall effect. We have also never had a bad customer service experience. The staff is always friendly and engaged."

  • "we started by splitting a caesar salad. the salad dressing was perfect. would have like anchovies but not available. then a mussel appetizer which was substantial with the largest mussels i've ever seen. the sauce was incredible. each of us ordered the crabcakes on fried green tomatoes which is a platonic dish."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in the Sarasota area. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and professional, and the tables along the water and under the stars provide a romantic setting for dining."

  • "Beautiful view and prompt service. Those in my party ordered the crab cake appetizer, it came to the table split on two plates which was nice - very appealing and delightful dish, loved the fried green tomatoes. However, the waiter never came to check on us while we had the appetizer, I had a question about the dish for him but he didn't return until our plates were empty. Entrees came out immediately after appetizer was cleared.. they were good, but I had to order a starter salad ($14 for a tiny salad) as my entree because there weren't any vegetarian entrees. Also, the restaurant was quiet - almost too quiet with no music playing. I would come back again, but they need some background music and at least one vegetarian entree!!"

  • "I took my wife to Ophelia's for her birthday while we were on vacation. We were seated right on the water with a terrific view. The food was excellent. My wife had the oyster appetizer and Scallops and pasta and I had the lobster and pasta. All great choices. The waitress service was excellent as well. Would highly recommend for a special occasion. The diner was a little pricey but certainly was worth it."

  • "We had dinner for 4 expecting to try the SavourSarasota 3 course special menu. Well, we finally got the menu, the best thing about this restaurant is the quality and care of preparation of the food. The starters were large and beautifully presented. We had the calamari with blue corn, shrimp Rangoon parcels (2) and a salad. The shrimp in a beautiful cream sauce in a fried filo parcel, calamari was very generous, although we did upsize the $30 menu to the $40 one. More about this later. For mains, we had salmon, duck breast and pork (2). All were cooked from scratch ingredients although the vegetables were basic and repeated for each meal, which was unimaginative. Well done to the Kitchen Staff because of the cooking they put into our meal"

  • "You cannot go wrong with Ophelias! From our first drink at the quaint little bar (the bar tender was attentive and friendly) this was a great anniversary experience! The food was unique and fantastic! Service and ambience were excellent! Be prepared to spend $100+ but it is well worth it!"

  • "The menu advertised a pricey little appetizer of Foie Gras on steak tartare with potatoes with truffle-- It was NOT Fois Gras. It was a torchon (which is pate- essentially liverwurst)-- that is NOT the same. As to the potatoes, they were a little baskket of cold little shoe string fries that were way over salted."

  • "For the 2nd year in a row this is the ONLY restaurant that will NOT post the correct Savor Sarasota menu on their website ... so I was disappointed for the 2nd year ... why not? all other restaurants do. Service was less than adequate. One meal was outstanding ... the other was just ok -- the escargot were too big and meaty for my taste and needed more garlic."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "I felt as though ownership must think that their view compensates for all things mediocre. The building is very dated, awkward, and for this area, the view, although nice, is fairly ordinary. On this visit, the menu was common with entrees that would be found on most dinning menus, and overall a disappointment, that was not representative of its local reputation. A reputation that I would say was overinflated, misrepresented. There are many locations in this area that have more choice, equal or better cuisine, with better ambience and view. Locations that either have current construction or have made necessary structural improvements for comfort and asthetics. The al fresco seating area had no fans, no umbrellas, etc. First and last visit."

  • "After hearing about this restaurant from friends, we though we would try it. Yes, the view is beautiful, but that is the ONLY saving grace of this establishment. The service was terrible, we had to ask for water, for our plates to be removed, etc. And then, they added a "manatory" 20% tip on the bill.....wow, the audacity! We will NOT be returning."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "We branched out and avoided our routine restaurants on this visit. Loved our waiter, very knowledgeable and professional in choices. Tho I wouldn't say it was "kid friendly", they did a fantastic job accommodating our kids with their meals. The meal itself was superb and plentiful. One of the best meals I've had on the key. Worth every penny, will definitely return."

  • "The ambiance can't be beat! Had a table right by the water and it was perfect. After our delicious entree, the rain did come, but our server quickly moved us under the awning so we could enjoy dessert. Beautiful!!"

  • "The brunch was so good last week that we had to go back again for more. You can get there by boat! The wonderful service and live Jazz make for the most pleasant dining you could ask for. Don't pass over the lamb meatballs. We will gladly drive 2 hours from home to eat here."

  • "What can you say about a dining experience where your table overlooks Sarasota Bay literally three feet away? Then, the food - my wife had grouper and I had quail - the quality and taste was outstanding. You are never rushed and you can relax for over two hours and take in the wonderful ambiance. We have had pleasurable dining experiences in Sarasota - frankly, none matched our dinner at Ophelia's on 06/07. I also should mention that the wait staff was excellent and recommended each of the dishes we selected. This has clearly become a "go to" place in Sarasota. "

  • "We were told, by a server at another OT restaurant to try Ophelia's on the Bay and request a patio seat. When we arrived our request was not in for the patio, but they accommodated us then the less. We had a two top on the lower part of the patio, overlooking the bay just before sunset. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us with our wine choice. My husband ordered the grouper and I thought I'd try the veal....both excellent choices. The portions were just right and very tasty. The server allowed us to linger while we enjoyed our wine and the sunset. It's an older building and rustic, but quiet and romantic. We would love to return and bring our friends."

  • "I've been going to Ophelia's since it first appeared on Siesta Key in the late 1970s or early '80s. Although it's changed hands and enlarged its quarters since then, it's still among the finest restaurants in Sarasota. The food, service, view and ambiance are wonderful. This last trip there was for a birthday celebration and we'd originally asked to be seated outside. But it poured. And I mean - - sideways, drenching rain. The staff was terrific to us and changed our request to a quiet, romantic table with a view, inside. Dry and cozy. "

  • "The brunch was terrible. Sausage and Bacon were like chewing on leather. Eggs were discusting. Everything was cold. Buffets trays should labeld. Everyone was trying to figure out what everything was. We have tried the brunch a few times and everytime have been very disappointed. We will not be returning. Ophelia's used to be one of our favorite restaurants but they have really gone downhill. I'm not sure if there are new owners or not. We have so many nice restaurants in Sarasota and Ophelia's not one of them. "

  • "We arrived at 11am Sunday to complimentary valet parking. The locals were right, food and service outstanding with a view of the bay and live Jazz. The wine list had good pairing choices and the server understood wine. Did not have Sauternes but offered a wonderful Ice wine to go with dessert. There was more than you could try in one meal. No problems for our 4 year old. Meat, Fish, Lobster Bisque and Blintzes. What more do you want?"

  • "We have been coming here for a number of years. The food and service are always excellent. If you are looking for a lively scene this is not your place. If you want a great meal with great view then this is your place"

  • "We visit Siesta Key at least once a year and always make sure that we go to Ophelia's. The food is excellent and the menu changes everyday based on what is available for the chef to cook. This year we had Spider Rolls which was comprised of crab atop a bed of rice, lobster salad and garnished with avocado and several other items. The presentation was beautiful and the food exquisite. In fact, I recommended it to two other tables that had yet to order. We will be returning in July and can't wait to see what will be on the menu. The view on the terrace is of the inter coastal water way where you can watch birds, the water and truly relax….also the bartender makes sensational martini's!"

  • "My wife and I are new to the area and wanted a romantic spot for our anniversary. We had heard that Ophelia's was a beautiful venue, but that the food was just average. We were delighted not just with the outside dining views, which were all they were claimed to be and more, but also very impressed with the cuisine. We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees, and couldn't have been happier with the freshness, the quality, and the unique tastes of each. And the service was outstanding. We live in Philadelphia as well as LBK, and are real foodies. This food experience ranks with some of the best we've had. We wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend to friends."
