The service could be better. Maybe
we had someone inexperienced? She really didn't smile, seemed to be rather lazy, and just didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Although the food was as expected it wasn't as good as our previous time. Maybe it's because we tried different things than our last visit. For th price I would except much better service and a bit more per portion size. One tip I have is when you order the 3 scoops of sorbet it should come in a chilled bowl so it doesn't melt as quickly."

It's a nice atmosphere, which goes
a long way for me. The menu had enough options to be interesting, as well as familar. Very yummy. The service was great, present when we needed them, but not hoovering."

We were visiting in Austin and
dropped in for their Monday night specials. My pasta dish, Rigatoni, was maybe the best pasta I ever had. And that includes the 10 days in Italy a few years ago. My wife also enjoyed her dish. Service was good and they take the time to explain the menu and the dishes when they come out. We ate downstairs and did not see the upstairs room. Downstairs is nice, but does have a window to the kitchen which makes the room a little more casual than the rest of the decor. There is also a nice patio outside."

Just two lifelong friends with
much to say. We left there beaming because of the service and great happy hour options and good food. We will BE BACK."

This is the 3rd time we've had
"Sunday Dinner" at at Olive and June. For $29 p/p you can enjoy four amazing courses served at a leisurely pace. We were hoping to dine outside under the enormous oak tree, but the winter weather had other plans. We dined upstairs in a booth OVERLOOKING the oak tree so at least we had that! Because we were celebrating my birthday, the waitress treated me to a lovely glass of prosecco. She suggested a great bottle of Italian wine and then the courses kept coming! Dessert is not part of the 4 course meal so we opted to try two off the menu. Service from the entire wait staff starting with the valet and hostess, along with the waitress, waitress assistant, to bartender were all excellent!"

We celebrated our 37th wedding
anniversary at Olive & June and had a wonderful evening. The food, as always, was superb and the service was impeccable. We love this restaurant and plan to go back again and again."

Sitting outside under tree that
hangs over the patio, I couldn't help but feel this was a great location and atmosphere. Plus the multi-course Sunday dinner was both inventive yet familiar. A wonderful evening and location. We'll be back."

Adam and Austin treated us so
well!! Best service we've had in Austin in a while! Adam's wine recommendation was delicious!!"
Dined on 2/23/2014
We experienced happy hour and try
nearly everything among the four of us on the appetizer list. I particularly like the polenta with farm egg but all enjoyed seafood with delightful puree as well as wonderful meats and cheese board, pork meatballs, and marinated mushrooms wrapped in zucchini strips.Well drinks were perfectly mixed with just the right amount of olive juice in our dirty martini and an interesting Tiramisu Martini. We shared entrees of grilled quail with speck and fusilli and brussel sprouts accompanied by an Argentinean malbec. We closed out our evening to celebrate a birthday with a light and tasty Fernet Chocolate Ganache and a Honey Ricotta Fried Ravioli; the best dining evenings we have shared in Austin."

My husband and I went here A week
and half before our due date. We had an awesome time and loved everything about the place. So great to find a place this awesome and not have to go downtown:)"
Dined on 2/21/2014
Everything was great. The waiter
was perfect at being around when needed, had great food and wine recommendations, and the table was quite without feeling isolated. Perfect night."

My girlfriend and I went to Olive
and June for valentines day and overall we had a great time. The food was amazing and the ambiance was spectacular as we got to watch the chefs in the back room rush about filling orders. My trout was very good if not a bit salty for my taste. The quail which I convinced my girlfriend to let me try was very interesting. There were so many things on the plate that it just felt smothered. Not a bad dish but not great in my opinion. This being said, I am not a frequent flyer when it comes to nice restaurants like Olive and June so maybe I'm over analyzing. My one criticism would be the service. I think we had 4 people wait on us over the course of an hour and a half. Also not much was explained about the wines"

Having lived in Rome, I can be
picky about Italian restaurants. This one definitely makes the cut. Excellent service, impeccable wine list (Italian), traditional as well as new and funky Appertives and Digestives, beautiful atmosphere. Very open and clean with beautiful outdoor seating around a very large tree (great heat lamps on a chilly night too.) The menu was a perfect balance of selections including a small bites section and seasonal crudo. I had the scallop special and my husband had the NY Strip, both large servings and delicious, along with a yummy beet salad and melt in your mouth warm mozzarella. The fresh pasta section was appealing but we were just too full. Dessert- the best banana gelato on top of salted caramel, so good!"

Thoroughly enjoyed the variety of
unique flavor. Great atmosphere for a nice date night or nice dinner with friends. Wait staff were very friendly but came across slightly pretentious. Would give it another try for sure!"

one of my favorites. Food is
delicious, service is always friendly. If you haven't been, go!"
Dined on 2/8/2014
I love Olive and June- the food is
always great and always being updated, with great portion sizes - you can really customize how much or how little food you're going to end up with. The piccolo piatti are so great, because you can try something you're not sure about without feeling like you're risking a main course or throwing a lot of money down the drain. Great selection of apertifs. Decent wine by the glass selection as well - I had a Sicilian wine just because my date was wearing a pinstripe suit jacket, and it was delicious. Love everything about it!"
Dined on 2/7/2014
But little food. It started with
seating us in front of the elevator on the 2nd floor inside on a beautiful night. This after making a reservation. Grilled octupus was a three measly pieces served on a gigantic plate. NY Strip was tough and also served on a gigantic plate. Lots of white space on those plates to stare at. My wife ordered the Ravioli and she enjoyed it. Desert, a gellato trio, was served without any mind to the flavor selections we made and then incomprehensibly the server could not explain what flavors we were served. Not impressed. This place did not live up to the review in the Chronicle."

Came here with my girlfriend to
celebrate our 2 year anniversary. Couldn't have picked a better place! The interior is cool and romantic, but not pretentious and the upstairs has a cool old school Italian feel to it. Food was excellent. Easily the best Italian in Austin. I could have used larger portions, but probably healthier that way. Service was spectacular. Our waitress had a great knowledge of food and alcohol pairings. She even gave us prosecco on the house when we told her it was our anniversary. When the check came I was a little nervous, but it was reasonably priced for such great quality. I would highly recommend to anyone especially for a special night with a loved one"

I went to olive + june for my
birthday dinner. The service was fabulous, the food was great, the birthday prosecco was a total treat, and all of my friends loved it. Highly recommended!"

Dinner and service is top notch at
Olive and June."
Dined on 1/23/2014
Very poor service, 15-20 minutes
between entrees being served. Waiter brought an incorrect check. Management reduced the check recognizing the poor service. It will be quite a while before we return!"

Just made my first trip to Olive
and June...have passed by it a thousand times...never knew it was there. So glad I went! Lover and I went for Friday night dinner....had way too much to eat, but it was worth it. Also ran into old friend Gregg and Diana who apparently have made it their weekly fave for two years. Service was amazing and company was awesome, but the food was amazeballs."

I had a team of people fly in from
LA and needed a place to host about 9 people without having to rent out some back room or overall make it a big hassle. Olive & June accommodated us nicely, even giving us seating options. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. My only complaint is that the beef tartare is no longer on the menu, it was my favorite."

I travel for work and eat out
probably 100 nights a year or more, and I don't normally feeled compelled to write a review as I'm pretty easy to please. Perhaps it was just a busy night and you may have better luck another day. To start it all off, we valet parked and walked in to the bar as we were about 45min early for our reservation. 30min later we noticed our car still running and the door open. The valet parked it in an adjacent driveway and forgot about it. Then we checked in with the hostess to see if they had made progress on our table. They deleted our reservation after checking in the first time. The wait staff was spread to thin and we had about 20 mins between each course. My food was bland, but my wifes was great!"
Dined on 1/18/2014
We showed up half an hour early
for our reservation and were seated right away, which was great. Our service was good and our waiter was knowledgable. The food was OK. It was not bad, it was not great, it was OK. We did really enjoy the dessert. We went outside to get my truck back from the valet and the guy takes off to get it. I spot my truck two parking lots away. Then I hear the valet peel out in my truck. He came around the block and came racing down the street. I understand that they want to show urgency, but this is a bit much. I asked him about it when he got out and he said he put it in gear and it "just happened". Aside from the valet, everything was "OK". For the prices on the menu, I expect better than great."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Underwhelming. Decoration is a mix
of contemporary and vintage, they need to pick one (I'd go modern). It was understaffed since waiters could barley keep up. Friendly staff for the most part. Need to add chicken and beef to the entrees. I liked the seafood appetizer. I liked the booth design. I liked the outdoor seating (though I sat inside because it was cold). I'd give it another shot but I would sit outdoors."

We had a sometimes rather
boisterous group, with a few wine and food connoisseurs, and were still treated with charm and utmost courtesy by the waitstaff . All the dishes were delicious. Loved the chocolate mousse and delicious sorbet. Could have just taste-tested all the sorbets for their unusual flavor combinations. Will be back."
Dined on 1/11/2014
The servings were small for the
group. The portions were definitely NOT family style. The food was okay just not spectacular. Our last time there the food was great but not this time. We will wait awhile before trying again."
Dined on 1/12/2014
This was our first visit, and we
were impressed...the kitchen does an amazing job, and the service is impeccable. The dishes are presented in an elegant way, and the flavor profiles are light and intriguing. There are multiple seating areas, breaking the restaurant up into smaller rooms. Even though a complete dinner is expensive (a la carte pricing), there were a surprising number of young people. All in all, we rate Olive and June a great find...right up there with the great, greatly missed Starlight."

We had been to Olive and June
twice before and suggested it for a night out with our friends who hadn't been there. It was bad on every level. Will not go back."
Dined on 1/8/2014
Really interesting, unique
flavors. The risotto was undercooked but delicious. Our table I'd reserved wasn't ready when we got there so we went up to the bar. The hostess came to get us after we'd ordered drinks and said that my boyfriend could close out "the lady" could follow her to the table. I just thought it was weird because we were still waiting on our drinks and that our option was to close out rather than put the drinks on the tab for our table. When we were paying, we put down cash and we needed change, so we waited for our server to come back to us. He never did, he just kept walking past the table looking busy and didn't try to ask us if we needed anything. We ended up tipping him three dollars because we couldn't get change."

This was our first time to visit
Olive and June and it did not disappoint. We love Parkside and decided to try Olive & June. The food was very good. We hit it during happy hour on Friday so our appetizer was 50% off- a great deal (they had drink specials too but we did not try any of those). We tried the warm mozzarella with bread which was delicious. My husband had the steak and I had the seared scallops and both were very good. Parking was a bit of an issue but they had complimentary valet so that helped a lot. Nice place to have a wonderful meal."
Dined on 1/3/2014
Interesting menu. Arancini was
delicious, as was melted mozzarella to start. Homemade pastas are well prepared and seasoned. Particularly enjoyed the bucatini. Only disappointment was the sun choke side dish. Too heavy on preserved lemon. Nice, but pricey list of interesting Italian wines."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Our San Francisco daughter, who
knows restaurant food quite well, said this was the best meal she had had for a while - certainly in Austin (been to Parkside two nights previously). Only quibble was with the side orders, roasted Sunchokes were cold and then roasted Brussels Sprouts showed as we were finishing the entrees."
Dined on 1/1/2014
We ate there on New Year's Eve on
the spur of the moment. We found a reservation through Open Table in 1/2 and hour. We had an excellent meal, good service, pretty quiet table downstairs. Expensive."
Dined on 12/31/2013
The food was exquisite, the
atmosphere romantic, and the dessert intoxicating! Service by Graham was perfect as usual. Olive and June gave us a beautiful New Year's Eve dinner experience."
Dined on 12/31/2013
Overall, we had a nice first
dining experience at O&J. The food and drinks were tasty, well priced and brought out quickly. The problem came with a few small things. The waiter told us one section was on the happy hour pricing when in fact it was another section. When the bill came, we te tied to explain what happened but I still don't think we were given all the perks of the happy hour special. The biggest thing was that I reserved the dinner for my husband's birthday and made a note of it in the reservation. No one made mention of it until I had paid the bill and were walking out the door. Definitely left the wrong taste in my mouth after a long meal."
Dined on 12/29/2013
Olive & june is one of the best
restaurants in Austin. Cooking is in Italian style, but this is much much more then an Italian restaurant. You could eat there every day."
Dined on 12/28/2013
We took a large party to Olive and
June for Christmas Eve dinner including kids as young as 2. It was wonderful and festive. Highly recommend!"
